The Sith are able to yield the dark side of the force to channel their anger snd hatred to keep themselves alive. A good example of this is in the old republic star wars expanded universe with a sith lord called Darth Sion. He was able to use the dark side to keep himself alive even after sustaining injuries that would kill a normal person. The only reason he died was because he eventually let go of his anger and hate.

The Old Republic is like the Silmarillion of Star Wars. It puts alot of it in context. I especially like the story of Darth Nihilus who could suck the force out of everything. People followed him because they liked the quiet that followed. They were so damaged and bitter that they preferred it to be condemned to nothingness over existence. They didn't even desire power. Just nothing.

If you watch the 6-episode tv series "Obi-Wan Kenobi" next, the story takes place 10 years after the events of Revenge of the Sith.
After that, the events of the movie "Rogue One" takes place immediately before the events of Episode IV: A New Hope.
In the beginning of the video, you spoke about the reason for Episode 4 being made first.
George Lucas had written rough scripts for episodes 1-6 before doing any of the movies. He chose to begin with episode 4 because he felt that it was the most action-packed, but also because special effects were not good enough yet in the 1970s to do 1-3 in the way he wanted to.
When episode 4 came out in 1977, under the title "Star Wars", it was not numbered. This was to avoid confusing the audience. The enormous success of the movie meant he could continue the story, and so they began to number them with episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back. The year after Empire came out, the first movie was re-released in theaters as "Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope".

Another point regarding George starting with episode 4, he said once that he cant write a beginning to a story at all, which is why star wars movies start during the action with a text summary for what's going on. Which is also why he omits character introductions, that's why Qui Gon's name isnt said until an hour into the movie

I think before Kenobi they should watch ST Episode III.2 which is Clone Wars Season 6 episodes 1-4, then ST Episode III.3 which is Clone Wars Season 7, episodes 9-12. That will clear up Order 66, and how it all went down. Then Kenobi.
And I agree, everyone should visit Tatu-weenie.

Since the first time I saw Darth Vader in 1977, and the first moment I learned that he was indeed Anakin Skywalker, Luke's father, in 1980, I wanted to know his back-story. How did Anakin become Vader? This movie is my favorite in all the Star Wars franchise because it reveals the information I had been seeking for decades. The events of this movie make the rest of the franchise possible. Without this moment in Star Wars history, there would be no Empire, no genocide of the Jedi, no Darth Vader and no Luke & Leia. This is, in my opinion, the most important movie chronicle of the galaxy far, far away.

Keep in mind that the sequels were not George Lucas's story. He had nothing to do with their creation. In fact, Disney actually rejected his story treatments in favor of letting different directors make up the story of each film as they went along. You can save these movies for last, last, last, they come last in the current movie timeline anyway.

This just allows such a deeper interpretation of the story. Back in Episode II, Anakin said that people should be made to agree with powerful people by force - the chancellor was influencing him. Later after his mom dies, he sees how he sees the world as being unfair and dangerous and the only way to survive is to become as powerful as you can and use violence to force people to do what you want. The prequels do not blame Obi Wan as much as the original 3 movies do for not keeping Anakin more under control. You can always say that Obi Wan could not stop Anakins destiny from happening. He needed to get closer to the chancellor to eventually kill him.

Quoting directly from the Star Wars Legends novel Republic Commando: True Colors, this is the exact statement behind Order 66:
_"In the event of Jedi officers acting against the interests of the Republic, and after receiving specific orders verified as coming directly from the Supreme Commander (Chancellor), GAR commanders will remove those officers by lethal force, and command of the GAR will revert to the Supreme Commander (Chancellor) until a new command structure is established."_
It's basically shorthand for "The Jedi have attempted a coup and must be eliminated".
The Order on the list that immediately precedes that one is Order 65, which called for the Supreme Chancellor to be detained or eliminated if a Senate majority or the Security Council deemed him unfit for duty. Palpatine would _know_ that this order existed, and thus, would act as stable and in the interests of the Republic as necessary until all pieces to initiate Order 66 were in place. With the only major threat to his power grab gone, and Emergency Powers still in his grasp, Order 65 can no longer be issued and all remaining clones that received the order are mindlessly obedient, trampling any dissent without question.
Depending on which continuity you go by, Order 66 could be activated remotely at any time or _only_ upon a verbal order from Palpatine (in person or over communicator is irrelevant).

You said at the beginning of this reaction that the films of the original trilogy were only later renamed episodes 4, 5, and 6. Actually, only the first movie was originally released without an episode number, and subsequently re-released as episode 4 once it had become clear that the movie was popular enough to warrant sequels; but episodes 5 and 6 were always episodes 5 and 6.

I have a different frame to offer you, looking at films I thru VI as an overview:
    - The Force has a Will of its own, and a Consciousness. It is a ‘hidden hand’ manipulating people and events - ultimately towards the Good.
    - The Force was aware that the Sith had gained ascendancy, and that the Jedi were not powerful enough to stop them.
    - The Force, in response, ‘engineered’ a long-range plan to defeat Sidious and to defeat the Sith. To do this, Sidious had to be ‘baited’ with the perfect lure - a prophesied Chosen One, whom Sidious believed, could be turned to the Dark Side, and to become Sidious’s new apprentice.
Sidious would have been able to sense if Anakin was ‘faking’ or pretending. The only way that Anakin could be the ultimate savior (to defeat the Sith), was if Anakin was genuine and sincere: Anakin really did turn to the Dark Side, but the Force had ensured, by the circumstances of Anakin’s birth and his personality, that he carried the remnant of Good within him, even during his time as Vader: Anakin/Vader was always ruled by his attachment to family - by a tiny number of people who loved him, and who he cared about. First, his mother, then Padme, and then finally, Luke.
So, when circumstances maneuvered Vader such that Sidious came between him and Luke, that remnant of Good, that animating love for family, would be awakened.
This view agrees with the notion that the Jedi and the Sith both have a very incomplete understanding of the Force, and ‘the Will of the Force.’ Among other things…
‘The Force’ created in Anakin, exactly what it wanted: a being not only unusually strong with the Force, but also a wild card - a person wildly unlike any Jedi - in that this person was ‘allowed’ to grow to age nine outside the Jedi order, and to become attached to people, to have a great fear of loss.
So, from the viewpoint of the Force, everything happened exactly the way it was supposed to: Anakin/Vader fulfilled the destiny for which he was created - a Jesus-like Savior figure, who was immaculately conceived, and condemned to terrible lifelong suffering, as the price for saving the rest of the universe from evil.
Among other things, this renders Anakin, and all the events of his life, as ‘like a puppet on strings’ - not really having Free Will, only appearing to have it, while the Force is always the unseen Power, guiding events. (Yes, this does fly in the face of your and my established frame that all people have free will, and can choose the Good or the Evil.) While the viewpoint that I’ve described is consistent with films I thru VI, it does not necessarily work to make the reader feel ‘at-ease’ or ‘comfortable.’

This was a great reaction and it was nice to see that you understood that Anakin was groomed by Palpatine from his childhood so that he didn't have a choice by the end. • @GavinBollard

@Antonio-Gransci That's true but there's no clue in the film that this is the case, just as there's no indication that Sideous was let inside the mind of Anakin as part of his becoming a Sith apprentice (Sideous' powers are explained quite well by Timothy Zahn in Heir to the Emprie ... but the film simply can't assume that the audience will have that knowledge -- so the audience will draw their own conclusions.

If you want to go deeper into the SW world, i really suggest you to watch on your own the very good animated series “The Clone Wars” (NOT in release order but in chronological order by following the chronological list which is on the internet) and “Rebels”. Then you would enjoy even more the other TV shows (Bad Batch, Mandalorian, etc..).
Solo was a flop and had been poorly directed (the director changed in middle of the production), it’s not that bad, but it’s not good.
Rogue One is an excellent SW movie, maybe one of the best !
The sequels (7,8,9) have nothing to do with George Lucas’ vision (his original plan were cancelled when Disney bought Lucasfilm) and they ended up producing the movies with different directors and without planning the plot of the movies that follow…

Remember how you took your first step into a larger world (in ep.4) ?? … now you’ve made it to know the Force, to understand the core issue. I can safely say now that you are officially part of the Star Wars family, most likely and most suitable from the resistance.
Many probably advised you to stop here … and I will respect your decision if to continue watching or not. I will remind you only this - a true Star Wars fan does not dislike any of the episodes … have a favorite one, yes - but not dislike any. If you’ll watch the entire saga, in the next episode (7) there are some awesome surprises waiting for you. I watched it and I liked it very much. Still, my most favorite line remains the one in ep.6 (Return Of The Jedi) - “I am a Jedi, like my father before me”. After completion of all 9 episodes (3 trilogies), I watched also “Rogue One”, which is not part of the saga itself, but a very good film and also “Solo”. I hope you’ll decide to continue watching. Take care and stay safe. May the Force be with you.

True, but at the same time the Jedi also allowed their own fear of the dark side and of what Anakin might become to drive their own actions. Therefore the actions of the Jedi were also a self fulfilling prophecy in that their own fears led to the outcome they had dreaded. Yoda realized that he bears a lot of the responsibility because he didn’t allow the Jedi to change, to evolve, or to adapt.
Whereas the Sith had evolved, they had developed a new plan to destroy the Republic and the Jedi from within rather than through an open armed takeover. The Jedi had only trained how to fight the last battle, they had stagnated over the past 1,000 years. The Jedi had also become too arrogant, dogmatic, and too detached from the average people of the galaxy. They became too subservient to corrupt senators at the expense of the average people.

The Events in SOLO, a Star Wars Story, take place at about the time of this film. Han was, by the books, about 15-17 years older than Luke.

Lucas added "Episode IV" to the re-release of the film a few years later but Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi both said which episode they were when they first came out. So Lucas made that decision early.

The reason George Lucas chose to start with episode 4 was because he thought it was easier to make the special effects for it and because it episode 4 could almost be considered a whole movie on its own. So if it was successful they had money to continue.

Y’all walked threw every step of the activation of fascism. Palpatine said “they’re defenseless” while he armed the enemy’s of Nabu, justifying the need for a private army. Amadala claimed we need a galactic army to the senate. Palpatine already built both sides of the war to alienate everyone. Once they voted for a private army, a surprime ruler was needed. Once you murder every Jedi and claim rebellion, you now own the universe. These 3 movies are high level chess and I love them

Vader is such a tragic character.
A slave when he was young to waddo, a slave to the jedi and a slave to the dark side (Palpatine)
His only own choice was to save his son... And it was his last.

  • @mattkylie6723
    @mattkylie6723 Год назад +1

    Yay”
so guys the beginning of the downfall of Anakin was how he was taken from his mother in the first Star Wars movie, I mean; in the republic the Jedi were identified at very early age, however the practical means by which they were incorporated into the academy were a lot more considerate, .. although he was freed by the deal Ben Kenobi’s teacher (Qui gon Jinn) made with Watto, .. it was way he was freed, and the circumstance, .. to take this child away from his mother in such a way began the unreconcilable ripples within the force!! picked up on within Jedi council session via Yoda & Mace windu, these ripples intensified during Anakin’s enrolment and early training, causing slight contempt for the council, and especially when learning they’re trust in him wasn’t sincere because of his force abilities.
So in conclusion the Jedi order actually helped with the early stages of Vader’s creation not only by principle but more so practice
In light of episode III Palpatine was controlling nearly everything!! however slight/subtle his manipulation of Anakin was nothing short of perfect, again based upon the vacuum in his life of no parents, although Ben Kenobi was like a father figure to him, His loyalty was first to the council which was also an underline problem between them, so in many respects Anakin felt alone, and it was the subtle encouragement of the chancellor (Palpatine) to engage and continue in exploring his passion and of course personal needs .. enter Padme, so I’m certainly in the understanding that he also arranged for her to have lesser role in politics as to be able to submerge into a more secretive relationship with Anakin, all the while slowly edging him more and more to the chancellors wishes.
