    I know one scholar who got fame because he has incredible memory and in one of his interviews he said he used to sleep for average 3 to 4 hours

    Thank you for all your information and reassurance on sleep and insomnia. I am suffering from sleep anxiety and after discovering your channel, even though Im still scared and anxious, it has helped me to remember what you have taught us and im learning to embrace that everything will be ok in due time and to have hope. I think that is the most important thing one could have is hope.

    Hi Daniel. I started my recovery journey around last February and while I’ve made so much progress as far as my general anxiety related to sleep, it hasn’t translated into feeling that much better or sleeping much more. I think some of that has to do with just now starting to make an effort to acknowledge all of the pressures related to my recovery (such as time frame and hoping to sleep for some arbitrary amount of time) but I think it mostly has to do with me being unable to really put insomnia behind me because of how it’s undeniably affected me. I don’t have any health anxiety anymore but there were months on end where I slept for no more than 45 minutes a night (at least as far as I was aware of) and for the longest time I truly was unable to speak in sentences. This was years ago and I’m honestly just slightly more capable than that as of late, which was so devastating to me because I always prided myself on my wit and being well-spoken, both of which have been robbed of me directly because of poor sleep over the long-term. I imagine (hopefully) that I seem coherent now but that’s only because I can sit here and type this out and think about things and edit them as I need to, and even if you don’t believe me, please answer as if you did for the sake of teaching. What would you say to someone in this situation? It hasn’t helped me to try to just acknowledge this as I would anything else and it’s always in the back of my mind. I also think it makes the pressure of sleeping well for consecutive nights extra-difficult to get rid of because just as I didn’t reach this point after one night or even after one month, it won’t be alleviated after one night or one month. Thanks ahead of time for your help.

    Interesting, I wonder if this pruning really happens because of sleep or just because there's less information coming in. If so, just resting or being in a medative state would be equally enough for memory 'consolidation'
