I love the Quilter’s Select Rulers. Thank you for all you do!!
Aren't they such nice rulers!
Who wouldn't want double the friends! 😊🩷 You tshirt design is cute too!
Thanks so much!
Corey, thank you for the free friendship quilt block. I would love it if you showed different ways to do the half square triangles.
You are so welcome!...thank you for letting me know that you'd be interested in a HST video! =)
As previous poster said " Love everything Corey Yoder". Give Tiggs a hug from all of us. xoxo
An extra Tiggs hug coming right up! He's out on his morning adventures but I'm sure he'll pop in before too long. =)
Love the star in a star
Would enjoy seeing half square triangles put together in different ways. My favorite is drawing the line , but always open to
Learning new-techniques. Thank you Cory.
Thanks so much!...and thank you for weighing in on a HST video!
Good Afternoon Corey, What a Beautiful Quilt this will be, Thank you so much for sharing, I cannot wait to dive into that fabric. ❤ Life has kept me busier this year, but I’ll catch up. God Bless You and Your Family, 🥰👍 Chris
We've been a bit busier over the last month as well...and of course summers just tend to be busier overall for us!
Love everything Cori Yoder. Your patterns and tutorials are awesome.
Thank you so much!...it's a lot of fun to share. =)
Really enjoyed watching you and Kimberly today!
@@patimcferran47 It was so much fun!...I'm glad you enjoyed it too. =)
Yes please!! A tutorial on half square triangles would be most fabulous. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us 😊
You are so welcome---thank you so much!
The friendship star looks fun to make. Very pretty quilt block.
It is a quick to make block!
From your “Hello” through the whole video, you have brightened my morning! I love the block and your presentation. Ditto all the other comments. Thanks for another free pattern, am looking forward to all of them!
Thank you so much for such a kind comment!...It had been a couple weeks since I shared a new video and it was fun to be back--and then to get to chat with all of you in the comments!
Corey! If I could bottle your cheerful voice I would! Love getting the alert for each of your posts and I am loving this sew along. Sending you hugs from Cincinnati. O-H-I-O🙌🏽
Oh thank you so much!...sharing about quilts and fabrics makes me feel pretty cheerful! =) Have a wonderful day in Cincinnati---it's beautiful up here today!
Thank you Corey for putting the friendship star block in this quilt. One of my favorites. My favorite way to make HST is to put the 2 squares together, cut them diagonally and then sew each one together. I’ve been told I shouldn’t do that so I appreciate that you tell us to do what works for us. ♥️😁🥰
I've talked to other quilters that feel they are more accurate when they sew together the two triangles as well. We are all different and different techniques are going to work better for each of us!
Yay. I always get so excited to see a post from you. It makes my day. You always bring such sunshine to the screen. ❤❤❤ Also looking forward to your trunk show at the FQS next Friday. I like to cut my HSTs oversized and trim down with a Blockloc. When I have several to make, I like to use triangles on a rollI or triangle paper. Those always come out perfectly and don’t require squaring up. It saves loads of time. I think it’s great to have several methods in my toolbox.
I agree!---having multiple options is so nice. I'll use different methods depending on the project and my mood. =)
Always good to have a review of the techniques for the HSTs😊
Thank you for letting me know that you'd like to see that video!
Thank you again for the free pattern Corey, almost to 50K subbies!! So happy for the huge growth in your channel this year sweet lady!!!
You are so welcome!...I always really enjoy these sew alongs. Plus, knowing that I need to share about them keeps me on track for a timely finish! =)
My favorite day, block release day! Coffee first, then heading straight to the sewing room to get started on the block!
Have fun stitching it up!
The tiny little friendship star is adorable ❤
It's the cutest little star!
Thank you for these patterns. Fussy cutting a motif would also be cute in the center of the block.
It would!...someone else mentioned that too in the comments and I thought that was a great suggestion if you weren't piecing it.
Love a triangle video. You a great instructor
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much. I love your cheerful fabrics and you always make me smile. I have a 70 pound dog that plops. I know what you mean about not getting up 😂. Fur babies are great. Looks like I need to go to the sewing room for some friendship time.
Plopping animals are the best!...It always makes me laugh when I hear that sound. =) It seems like it wouldn't be comfortable to lay down that way but Tiggs seems perfectly content with his method. =)
Yes, a video would be very appreciated (and needed ) by me.
Perfect!...I know I like many different HST options.
Would love a video on different ways to make half square triangles!
I think that would be a helpful video---there are so many different ways we can make them!
The Friendship Star is one of my favorite blocks and this double one is adorable.
I would appreciate you sharing all the different ways to make hst.
I am looking forward to seeing you and your trunk show next week on the FQS livestream.
I really like a friendship star block as well...such a fun one to piece! It'll be fun to chat with Kimberly next week!
Thank you for sharing your talent and sharing patterns with us.
You are so welcome!
Just had a chance to watch. It’s funny that I was looking on your website just the other day thinking that I had somehow missed a Sunny Patch video. Thank you Corey for another tutorial and free pattern. I need to get busy sewing. See you next time.
The Sunny Patches videos/blocks come out the 3rd Saturday of the month. =) See you next time! =)
So adorable.
I was waiting for the next block 🎉
Thank you for sharing .
Love it❤
You’re welcome 😊
Thanks Corrie! We miss Tiggs coming to visit.
If you need a little peek at him, I did sneak a picture on my blog in the Saturday post. =) He's definitely spending a lot of his days outside right now!
Thank you for the free block Corey. You're the sweetest and always make such cute things.
You are so welcome!...thank you so much!
A video on all half square triangle techniques would be great. Thanks for all you do to help educate us.
I think that'd be a helpful video to put together. There are quite a few ways we can approach HSTs!
I love watching what you create, Corey, I just wish that I could keep up!! Thank you for the inspiration that I alway get from watching. Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much Sharon!...I feel like I am moving pretty slow on the quilty projects this summer. So many other things going on!
It’s always nice to see a new video, Cory. Thank you. I love this block and I love it in both the Sunwashed and Beautiful Day. Really super cute.

Navy one would look great in a table or bed runner for the 4th of July. Pretty fabrics. Thx.
It would!
I love your t shirt 🥰
Thank you!
Love the Friendship Star Block in the Sun Washed fabric! Love your fabric lines. Tiggs is so adorable and fun to see in your pictures. Brings a friendly element into the pictures. I’m looking forward to seeing you on FQS. It will be a fun video
I think so too!...I really enjoyed the last time I got to spend time with FQS!

I love those rulers also, love your videos
Aren't those rulers the best!
Beautiful Corey! Love you tutorials! This is a beautiful pattern and the fabric is gorgeous!
Thank you so much!
@@CorianderQuilts you’re welcome!😊
Am just loving this SAL. Having just finished my Bountiful quilt, I am working on completing my Heartfelt quilt. I tried to decide which collection I loved more, Sunwashed or Beautiful Day. I do believe they are tied! I saw on yesterday's FQS's Livestream that you'll be joining Kimberly next Friday, 6/23, for a trunk show. Can’t wait. See you next week.
It'll be fun to chat again with Kimberly!
This block is so cute! I am loving this quilt along. For some reason I find it very relaxing.
I think the pace is so nice...It's nice to have some time before the next block comes out. =)
Good morning, Corey! I hope your summer is going well! I have been missing your videos!
This is a cute block! I like the mini center star. Thanks for the mock up of a full quilt in the scrappy stars on the blog. I always print the pics of your alternate blocks/quilts, etc with the block pattern, so I have it for added inspiration down the road. I appreciate all you do! Have a blessed weekend!
You have a wonderful weekend too Amanda! I always think it's fun to see how the blocks looks in a different sort of setting/fabric than what I originally made it in. It's so interesting how different it can look!
So cute! And, a perfect block for me today as it's my best friend's birthday!
That is perfect!...Happy Birthday to your best friend!
Great twist on a traditional block. Love the center star.
That little mini center was a fun one to piece. =) I always enjoy a friendship star block. =)
Thank you so much. This is an enjoyable quilt to work on.

I’m excited about this block, I love the friendship star. We are leaving the beach this morning 😢 so I’ll be working on this one when I recover from vacation. Excited to get back to sewing soon.
I love a good friendship star too...they are such fun little blocks to make! I hope you enjoyed your vacation...safe travels!
@@CorianderQuilts thank you! We’ve been listening to a great podcast to pass the long hours in the car.
I didn’t realize those rulers were grippy on the whole backside. I’ll have to check them out.
Love the friendship block. Thanks Corey 💚

Would be fun to fussy cut the center square also. Fun block
Absolutely!...that would give a special finish for opting not to piece that center square.
love your patterns and fabric designs!

Thank you for letting me know that's something you'd like to see!
Both versions are beautiful..❤
I really enjoyed them both Roberta!
Missing the Tiggs pop-ins with the new studio.😘
Go pop by my blog post today and you'll catch him there. =) We do have a couple videos filmed in the new studio where Tiggs makes an appearance, they just haven't made it onto the channel yet!
Love this! Having gone to your site, I browsed your fabric collections....and now I need to figure out where to purchase the Apricot and Ash fabrics....they're simply gorgeous😍 Are those all upcoming releases, or past collections that are all sold out?
Thanks so much! The collections are listed in the order they were released with the most recent at the top of the page (which is Sunwashed). As you work your way down the page, the collections become harder to find. Apricot & Ash was a very popular collection that came out in 2020.
Thank you ❤️
You’re welcome 😊
Second comment… that Tshirt is EVERYTHING! So cute! do you sell in your shop? And the more important question… do you have a pattern for that amazing block on that tshirt!!??!!😂🙏🏽🤣🤗
Thank you so much!...it's from Fancy That Design House--I have it linked in the description box below. =) I thought it was so cute. I bet you'll find some other must haves in her shop---so many cute tees! (and other things!)
Love this block! I am behind on my blocks for this quilt, but plan to catch up next week. You may have already covered this, but if I wanted to make this into a queen quilt, can you tell me your recommendation ? Thank so much for your knowledge and artistic and creative inspiration.
They go together quickly...I'm sure you'll be able to catch up in no time--and if not, the patterns will be ready when you are. =) For a queen sized quilt, you could either add more blocks, add borders, or both. You will want your quilt to be a rectangle so I'd probably suggest adding an extra row or two to the bottom to make it a rectangle. You could then continue adding rows to the sides and bottom or adding borders (or both) to bring it to size.
Loved this! As a true newbie Wht tips do u hav to assure true tiny parts? Thx Corey
Thank you! I shared a video about some of the things I do/use when piecing small in this video: ruclips.net/video/KTtmuIUeFP0/видео.html There were also helpful tips in the comments of that video of what other quilters might do/use.
When I get all pieces cut and on design boards I take a photo. Then if after using those pieces I need a specific pieced unit I can quickly identify it. I delete the photo when the project is finished.
Great suggestion!
Love this mystery quilt but missed the third one and when I try to go back and get it it wont print, have had no trouble with the others,????😮
Thank you!...I just tried printing it before responding and it's working fine on my end. You could try switching the device that you are trying to print from.
A beautiful block. I'm curious what the top aqua quilt is in the stack behind you? Looks like a lovely pile of quilts.
Thank you!...that quilt is called Rummage Sale. I shared more about it in this blog post: corianderquilts.com/its-pattern-time/
@Coriander Quilts thank you for sharing, I haven't seen a few of those patterns. They are all so pretty.
Thanks sew much Corey! Just adore you. Question, what one of your Basics/ background do you use the most. I like seeds ? Not sure if it’s always available
Coriander Seeds is my line of white on white basics. Any of them will mix with any of my other collections. Since Coriander Seeds is a basic, any of the 10 fabrics in that collection can be ordered by quilt shops whenever they need some. I like using all of those fabrics!...they mix so nice with everything else.
@@CorianderQuilts Corey I am so sorry, for the life of me I could not think of the name!! Must be my age, meds, dyslexia??
I looked up on FQS I just went blank. I have your Sunwashed and all fabric to make big quilt. So So So very 😞
@@sharontuch3405 FQS carries Coriander Seeds so if you wanted to purchase some to go with Sunwashed, that's a great place to purchase. Any of those fabrics will go with Sunwashed. If you search "coriander seeds" on the FQS website, it will pull them all up for you. The x print fabric from Coriander Seeds is the same print as the x print in Sunwashed so that would be a great choice. Or, I really like ditsy, sprigs, or vines with Sunwashed. x print & ditsy are showing out of stock right now on FQS but you can be notified when they're back in stock.
Any opinion on using a smaller ruler for the smaller units? (I saw a youtube on miniature quilts and that was that teacher's tip. Perhaps it only matters with a traditional ruler...)
I used to use smaller rulers for smaller pieces...it just made sense in my head that I would like that option better. However, what I have found out is that I prefer having more surface area to hang onto when I'm trimming. The smaller rulers seemed to slide around more when they had more surface area on the fabric and less of it on the cutting mat. Plus, I didn't have as much to hang onto when I was trimming. I wouldn't have been using QS rulers at that time so it's possible I wouldn't have noticed the "slidey" fabric problem but I still would have preferred more surface area for my hand.
I think probably depending on which quilter you talk to you are going to get a different answer each time! If you have a smaller ruler to experiment with, try it out and see what you think. You might find you much prefer a certain size over another.
Yes please, other ways to make 1/2 square triangles. I have a difficult time with those to make them right and flying geese please ? Oh wow, that quilters square ruler is so much better than my rulers by omnigrid. Where can I purchase that one ?
I know I like having different methods to fall back on depending on the project. Sometimes one seems to be a better choice than another for any given project. =)
Yaayyyyy❤
I want to start putting my rows together now that we have 3 blocks. Is there any reason I shouldn’t do that?
Only if you wanted to wait to see the final block placement.
❤❤❤
Do you heavy starch? The small center looked like it…
I didn't starch at all for this project. Every now and then I will...but not that frequently. For myself, I don't find that it increases my accuracy enough to warrant the extra time. I know others would disagree!
❤
How do you lift your Quilters Select ruler? I've seen some quilter add a knob to the top... My friends ruler has lost some of the sticky on the corner where she grabs it.
I lift mine on the side...I've only had my QS rulers for a few years so I don't know if that "sticky" will stand the test of time or not. So far so good! Have you ever seen the suction handles for quilting rulers? There are quite a few different brands and sizes but essentially, they are a little knob or handle that suctions to your ruler for better grip. I tried a larger one for one of my larger rulers many years ago and decided I didn't prefer it, but if you were worried about loosing that "stickiness" on any of your rulers (or if you wanted something nicer to hang onto when cutting), it might be a nice option. If you google "suction handles for quilt rulers" you'll see what I'm talking about. (if you aren't familiar with them already)
@@CorianderQuilts yeah, that was the knob, I tried to describe. I'm gun shy to try a new ruler myself. I like/use brand A, grabbed brand B because that was all that was at the quilt shop (I wanted something a bit bigger.) - the numbering is different.. (Ditto rotary cutters & I'd never change my seam ripper or thread snips - life is too short.)
@@AvivaHadas I get it!...when what you have is working, why change it! I think that most of the things I've picked up or changed over the years have been something that a student brought to a class that I was teaching and I had the chance to try it out and see it in action. Magic Pins, QS rulers, & pressing bars were all that way for me. I don't think I would have picked up any of those items if I hadn't been able to see and try them out for myself. Just because someone else loves it doesn't mean it's going to work the same for me! And I know what you mean about different number on rulers...that can throw things off in a big way!
The other thing I think about too is how used to we get to whatever we are using. We have a lot of practice with whatever tools we've been using and know all of their quirks and how to make them work for us. There might be another tool that works better but we've had so much less practice with that tool that it might not work as well as our old standby even if it seems like a better tool in theory.
Where do you get the little letter markers for the cut pieces?
I purchased mine from Fat Quarter Shop here: shrsl.com/4eg0h
@@CorianderQuilts thanks so much.
👍❤️😊
Just an FYI, Donna Jordan (Jordan Fabrics on youtube) is using beautiful day in her video today. I had to share the coincidence.
I'll have to take a peek!...thank you for letting me know!
Nice block but way too small for my hands. Love your tshirt.
Thank you!...the center is a small block! The pattern includes instructions for skipping the small center block for those that wish to simplify the piecing. =)
Such a wonderful video and lovely block. 2 other ways for half-square triangles are 1. Triangle paper and 2. Easy half-square triangles were you get 4 at once. ❤🧵🪡
Two great suggestions for HSTs!
@Coriander Quilts This Friday, when you on Fat Quarter Shop Quilting Livestream, ask Kimberly for some. 🤣 I am looking forward to seeing you on with Kimberly. Blessings.🥰❤️🧵🪡
