I feel the same way about labels. When artists paint their prints, they always put their names and sometimes the year, so I feel the same, it’s important for whomever will end up with your beautiful quilt. Thanks for the tutorial. I enjoyed it.

I wanted to comment to everyone and including Corey. I just got all caught up on the blocks. I even had to do some improvising and all will be good. You are so welcome!...it's a fast one to piece. If you weren't sewing along with the Sunny Patches mystery sew along, this layout on it's own is very fun!...you'd just need to fill in those few "blank spaces" where we'll be adding the mystery blocks.

I am going to use fabrics left over from my first quilt in 2009. I bought waaaay too much fabric for that quilt. 😹. It will be fun to think back on all of my quilting experiences since that first rail fence quilt! Thanks Corey!

Corey I was able to pick up some Sunwashed in my local quilt shop the last time I was there, so I will be quilting along with this project so excited to do this with your fabric. with it being a slower monthly sew along it should be easier to keep up with all the other sew alongs I am doing. thank you Corey

Like so many others, I wasn’t going to add another project to my queue at the moment but I find I have a jelly roll in my stash that should work for these first blocks. I really love the Sun Washed fabrics though. Darn. More decisions! 🙂🤣

Great tutorial. I love your sun washed I finished my first quilt using yellows and the blue pomegranate with I the simply delightful white with colorful leaves, I love it! So happy it looks kind of vintage.

This is so cute! I love a good mystery, especially when I can get a visual as to layout lol, so this is perfect. I have a lot going on right now (I have to get my Oh Happy Day Quilt quilted and bound for a friend who just suffered a loss) but hopefully by next weekend I will be started. Thanks for all these projects.
I think these mystery quilt alongs are so much fun...I so enjoy sewing along with all of you! This block is a great one to start with so you can fit them in as you get a chance during the sew along. =)

Hi Corey, just to keep things interesting, I should note I watch your videos on my big screen TV using a Roku to access RUclips (then have to get on my laptop to leave a comment) but thank you so much for explaining how to access the Description box on a phone or mobile device. I would never have thought to highlight the title and in fact, on my Roku (and probably on a FireTV or other smartTV device) highlighting the title of the video and pressing OK opens up the Description AND the comments boxes. I can click OK on the Description to open it and read the whole thing or arrow over to the comments box and click OK to see all the comments. The RUclips app on my Roku does not allow me to enter comments but there is a note that says to open the RUclips app on another device to leave comments so it's all pretty self-explanatory....once I think to highlight the title of the video! THANK YOU :) I usually get on my laptop to see what you were talking about after I have finished listening but it's nice to go interactive and now I can!

Dwell will be such a beautiful line of fabric for this quilt. I'm using a lot of Dwell for my Bountiful quilt and I've really been enjoying those fabrics. =)

Great block idea. Since my fabric stash is already full !!!! And I know there are fabric lines where I have both a 10" squares pack and roll of 2.5" WOF strips, I will probably cut the block size down to fewer of the 2.5" strips per block so that I can use a 10" square as the solid part of the HST. Always adjusting current requirements to existing supplies !!!! Great idea and I look forward to the upcoming blocks.
Do keep in mind that will require you to adjust the math on all of the upcoming blocks. =) If you don't mind doing that you'll be in great shape to use up some of those precuts you already have on hand!
@@CorianderQuilts Thanks for the reminder. At this point I might just use this block in some smaller baby quilts that I donate. It's a design idea that has lots of fun geometric potential

I am a big of yours, Corey. Your collections are all beautiful and you have such a cheery attitude on your videos which I enjoy watching! I want to do your Sunny Patches quilt along using your Spring Brook collection if I can find the extra yardage I will need. I already have a jelly roll and a fat quarter bundle. Could you please suggest which fabrics I should use for the extras yardage like background, etc. I am relatively new to quilting so I have trouble with that. Thanks so much!
Thanks so much Marian! For both my Beautiful Day version as well as my Sunwashed version, I used 2 blues and a red...so two stronger contrasting fabrics and then a (still strong but slightly less so) 3rd fabric (the red). You can use the same approach to choosing the prints you'd like to go with Spring Brook (keep in mind too, that you can choose prints from Buttercup & Slate which came out this fall and will have more options to purchase---that line mixes very nicely with Spring Brook). You'll want three prints that contrast nicely with your background fabric (Moda Bella solid in the color 9900-200 is a nice white solid that coordinates and would be a nice background fabric). I probably wouldn't choose the very darkest gray from either Spring Brook or Buttercup & Slate as I think that might be more contrast than you'd want but the blues and yellows from Spring Brook would be nice choices or the medium gray in Buttercup & Slate (or the yellows) would be nice. I think the light gray in Spring Brook would not be strong enough contrast.

I’m new to quilting and I love your videos. I’ve heard you mention “on the bias” “cutting on the bias”. Could you do a video explaining bias?
Cutting on the bias is when we cut diagonally across the fabric rather than straight across the grain. It results in a stretchy edge and is something that we like to avoid when piecing quilts if possible.
For example in today's video, we could have cut our strip sets and our background squares in half diagonally first, and then sewn them together as triangles. The edge we would have been sewing along would have been a very stretchy edge and not as nice to work with. Because we kept both shapes as squares and didn't cut them on that marked diagonal until after they were sewn together, we avoided having to work with bias edges.
If you do have to work with bias edges in your piecing, be aware that those sides will be stretchy and avoid excess pulling/tugging so as not to distort their shape.
