This was my first quilt ever, almost two years ago, with next to no instruction. Right off the bat, the jelly roll I bought was only 20 strips, so first lesson learned. Then I cut about half the wrong size, so second and third lessons learned. It came out beautiful anyway, and another lesson learned. It was gift for my mom who is living with chronic stage 4 cancer. It was all done and washed, ready to gift, and the day before, she mentioned she needed a new king size comforter.😮😮😮. Off came the binding, and another lesson learned to add additional borders! I'm about 20 quilts in, mostly for Project Linus, and almost two years later to the month, I have two Jelly Roll Jamboree tops in progress on my design walls, headed for Project Linus. Thank you Erica, for giving me the start of something wonderful!
I totally understand how you feel about jelly rolls, they are like a beautiful flower that you don’t want to mess with because you want us to stay beautiful forever. I am acquiring jelly rolls and I have used one so far. After watching your jelly roll quilt that you just made I want to make a jelly roll quilt just like it. Hmmm, I guess I’ll have to open a jelly roll won’t I 🤣. All kidding aside excellent tutorial I could listen to you and not want to pull my hair out so yes, I will follow you ❤️
I love the jelly roll quilt. H plus l love your moms puppy!! Jacks is super jealous!! I love all of your videos!!! Sweet Pea too!! Love ya God bless all of you!!!❤❤❤
After seeing the snow, I am not going to complain about the rain here in Michigan. Making an entire quilt is the best way to sooth your mood. It is so cheerful!
You are adorable and make great, easy video's! For beginners you make this look very doable, which it really is. I want to get started now on a JellyRoll Jamboree quilt! Thank you Erica.
Girl!!! You said scrumptious !!! I LOVE this video. So fun. I can’t wait for next weeks video. And before anybody gripes about how fast you go, because you do go fast, which I love... but some don’t. For those who don’t, I have a tip for you... just press pause⏸. And bonus tip- play the video to the end cuz the outtakes are hilarious!
I love your tutorial... I’ve had two jelly rolls for several years and this inspired me to unwrap one. I spent a couple of days thinking and finally I tossed them in the air and used the one that landed closest to me! The struggle is real!
You made me think back 50 years ago to the family table and deciding which piece of food to take. My dad would say, "Why don't you take the one closest to you?" I like how choosing the closest ones put the joy back into your project.
I have 4 jelly roll race quilt tops hanging in my closet that I didn’t know what to do with that have been in there for years, I think I can cut them down into individual separate blocks and piece them together with a left over white honey bin roll, thank you so much for this super great quick and easy idea!
Thank you so much for being straight forward and to the point! I love your videos and I’m making this quick last minute baby quilt right now similar to yours thank u for your help
I love this quilt fast easy don’t have to think a lot plus went shopping yesterday and found a jelly roll from Camille and Bonnie and I’m so happy. Beth from Minnesota
This quilt is stunning! I slept under scrappy quilts made by my grandmother when I was young on the farm...made from scraps from Grandma's cotton dresses, flour sack, and novelty fabrics. I so love my jelly rolls...just like you!
LOL I also ride that struggle bus! I have SO MANY jelly rolls. Some I have because I thought they were pretty; some because I had a pattern in mind. ALL are still rolled. 😂😂 This was such a fun video! Maybe after I mow lawn...🤔🤔🤔
Scrollen on you chanel this morning before going to work and the qulit looks before , and as a beginner in sewing , you have made it a step by step plan to make this is a day , but it would me a longer , thank you so much
Thanks for the tutorial. Love your Jelly Roll Jamboree quilt. You are right...it is so hard to unwrap a jelly roll. They always look so pretty sitting on the shelf but they do look pretty in a quilt too. See you next time.
I love precuts but, hate using them because they look so pretty in my hutch that I store them in. Glad I am not the only one to hoard them. LOL. Love this quilt so fresh and spring like.
I am going to try to make this quilt for my grand daughter with a Moda "The Sea and Me" jelly roll. The colors are so vibrant like yours. Yours is just adorable.
Finished this quilt yesterday! Second quilt ever made. I chose to hand stitch the binding which is the look I prefer. Thanks for the great pattern and instructions.
Love this quilt !! The fabric made this quilt perfect!!! And lastly Jacks is so cute!!! I love his little face that showed up close in the camera. And he is a happy cat with his tail up. 😻
Your cat is so cute. Haha You can tell he's spoiled, sitting there, cleaning himself, laying on the quilt you're literally working on. 🤣🥰 Absolutely beautiful quilt, btw! The colors and fabric are gorgeous! 😍
It's so difficult to open those beautiful jelly rolls!!!! But they are so fun!!!!! My husband was just telling me that PPL watch videos and don't subscribe, huh? Why? I want to find my favs in a instant. Thanks for the cheery video on a dreary day.
June ... I wonder if it's because "subscribe" tends to mean it costs money, like when you subscribe to a magazine. Perhaps Erica (and other RUclips hosts) need to say free subscription.
Love, love, love this video! I have the same struggle with unwrapping jelly rolls. They look so pretty on my shelf and once you unwrap them, they can never be re-wrapped the same. And since they are starting to take over the cabinet a bit...I'm going to make this quilt next! I also love the fact that you are in the same state as I am. That blizzard was NUTS! We shoveled and 5 hours later it looks like we hadn't done a thing.
Yes! Thats the way to do an instructional video.😙 I wanted to make the oval jelly roll rug but my hands just arent strong enough. So, i decided to make one with the strips made into blocks that turn in opposite directions (if i knew what that design was called, id have found you sooner!). Hadnt seen this style w sashing between blocks, but that will be even better. Thank you for teaching us. And thanks for not blathering on about your problems, your hubs, kids, and pets😥. REALLY appreciate it.🤗 Its December now so here's wishing you Happy Holidays and may your points all match in the coming new year.
You just amaze me....i am hoarding a jelly roll also by bonnie and Camille, i originally purchase to make your jelly roll rug....the struggle to decide is so real...thank you for another amazing tutorial....
Love this pattern, thank you for sharing. I am not good at sewing but was looking for a simple pattern I could do. My mom works at a assisted living home. One of the residents is turning 100 next month. She has dementia, but is a sweet lady who loves going around singing jingle bells (all the time ..lol). I got some christmas theme jelly rolls that were deeply discounted last year. I am gonna use them to make her a quilt. Hopefully it makes her happy.
🌺🌸 Love ❤️ Love 💕 Love 💗 your quilt tutorial. 🥰. Tomorrow can’t get here fast enough to get started on making one for myself. You’re very talented. Thank you for sharing your gift 💝
I have WAY too many jelly rolls sitting on my shelf, so I understand needing a moment to go for it and unroll them. Thank you for such a great tutorial. I needed something quick to make for my mother's birthday coming up, and this will be perfect! Thanks again for all your great tutorials. (and yes, I'm subscribed)
Wow you got way more now than we did. I live in the mountains and we usually get a lot of snow. I loved this video. I have been trying to use up my Jelly rolls because I have a storage issue. I am so glad you put this out there. I know how easy it is to get attached to fabric, but sometimes we have to say goodbye. The quilt is so cute though.
That cat!! LOL. So so very cute!!! I had a b/w cat named Ted. We lost him a cpl years ago. He had the cutest personality. I imagine something like Jax’s. ♥️😻
So fun! Hopefully that’s your last snow for the spring, but probably not. Lol. Can’t wait for the bonus project. Have a great weekend. God bless. 👏🏻💕👏🏻
That is an awesome quilt, and I’ve got a jelly roll that I had no idea what to make with it. Now I do. My miss kitty loves to lay on my quilts, while I’m quilting them also 🌼 love all your videos!
Love your tutorial! As a longarm quilter I can tell you that the no. 1 mistake of quilters, is not measuring their quilt down the middle and then cutting their border to that measurement. The way you add your borders will usually result in borders that are longer than the quilt which makes excess fullness in the borders. The longarm quilter has to then try to ease in the fullness to keep the quilt square. Sometime the borders are so wonky that a tuck has to be made in the border.
Thank you for this video. I am finishing something similar now and it’s so cute. I wish I could show you! It is just adorable!!! You are amazing and I have learned so much from you! Thank you!!!
Love love love all of your wonderful tutorial, guess I’ll have to see which jellyroll I can open🤣. Loved seeing the snow, I lived in Colorado for 8 years and now I am in Fl, BIG change😱. Blessings to you and your sweet family🤗❤️
Such a fun and pretty quilt. Love the fabric. Wow at the snow. Y’all got a lot. Jax is so funny. He waved bye to us with his tail at the end!!! Looking forward to seeing the pillow next time. Happy Week!
I just watched this video as it popped up when I was searching for an easy fun pattern. 🤗 I love your videos and this one just got me in the mood for a quick quilt!! Thanks!!

I love how you get right to the point and don't drag things out. You also make it look so easy to do all of it. Thank U. :P
I was looking for a quick and easy pattern for lap quilts, and this fits the bill! Thanks for your straightforward instructions. Appreciate it!
Your cat is adorable. Love the quilt. Thank you.

This is such a gorgeous quilt…. Absolutely beautiful fabric ❤
Your videos are succinct, informative and beautiful!! Your fabric selections are my favorite!❤❤❤
Girl!!! You said scrumptious !!! I LOVE this video. So fun. I can’t wait for next weeks video. And before anybody gripes about how fast you go, because you do go fast, which I love... but some don’t. Yes so funnyxxoo
You make it look so easy. I do appreciate how you explain each step in the quilting process
I laughed out loud about your comment to “spend a few minutes with your jelly roll”!! You must be hiding in my quilting room to get that idea! 🤣🤣
This is amazing! And I'm so with you on hording Jelly Rolls and never unrolling them.
I love your tutorial... I’ve had two jelly rolls for several years and this inspired me to unwrap one. I spent a couple of days thinking and finally I tossed them in the air and used the one that landed closest to me! The struggle is real!

That looks like a very nice quilt Erica and of course you have Jack there helping you
Thanks for the tutorial. Love your Jelly Roll Jamboree quilt. You are right...it is so hard to unwrap a jelly roll. They always look so pretty sitting on the shelf but they do look pretty in a quilt too. See you next time.

You seriously cracked me up. The unwrapping of a jelly roll or any precuts is very painful for me. Especially from Moda. 💕
How wide was your binding strips?

Wasn't it crazy? We shoveled several times and each time you couldn't even tell!
Yes! Thats the way to do an instructional video.😙

just arent strong enough. So, i decided to make one with the strips made into blocks that turn in opposite directions (if i knew what that design was called, id have found you sooner!).

Love this pattern, thank you for sharing. I am not good at sewing but was looking for a simple pattern I could do. My mom works at a assisted living home. You talk a little too fast, but you sound excited about what you're doing - which gets me really into the project, too. 😊
So fun! Hopefully that’s your last snow for the spring, but probably not. Lol. Can’t wait for the bonus project. Have a great weekend. God bless. 👏🏻💕👏🏻
