This game does look pretty fun though and it would be cool if there was a more mature pokemon type game. It sucks most pokemon games are really easy and predictable. More developers should take inspiration from this game for sure!
I too was thinking the same thing while watching. I just had the thought what if its actully Lucile who lost her mind or something with all the Radiation and tried to kill everyone even her own family. Was a really nice twist.
I just have to say, there's an incredible difference between being so sick you lose yourself, and being evil or violently unstable. They're not the same, at all.
Yeah, despite their use of a very common trope, the whole thing was done very well. My question is, though, Lucille is going to a mental hospital, right?
Most fangames are more adult oriented.. Insurgence has murdering cults, Reborn has literal terrorists and addresses LGBTQI issues, homelessness and prostitution (you literally fight homeless people and prostitutes), Uranium addresses the nuclear energy problems, in the way that nuclear power plants are vulnerable to terrorists, animal rights (the whole Garlikid story) and human hubris (Larkspur)

Even after all this time it's still amazing to know that the people who worked on this game spent most of their time tinkering with the engine since this is a RPGMaker games, and it's pretty hard to make a Pokemon game using that program. Massive props to the devs.
I had no idea that this was an RPGMaker game. That engine is super limiting, the fact that they were able to do so much with it is impressive. Same for OMORI, the games that come out from such a limited engine never fail to impress me.
There’s a specific mod used by all rpgxp games, called Pokémon essentials. It is by far the easiest way to make a Pokémon fan game (not to make you think that this wasn’t an amazing effort by all devs)
I remember playing through Uranium a few years back, was so disappointed to see the game end right when I was getting ready for end game content. The Dunsparce evolution was the greatest thing to happen in a fan made Pokémon.
Nuclear plants work just fine if there's no crazy woman roaming around with a sentient nuclear reactor stealing Uranium rods. Or some other not so smart people running the plants themselves.
It's poorly maintained and outdated equipment that causes issues, and those issues are incredibly rare. Out of nearly 500 active plants in the world, there have been exactly 3 major nuclear disasters, and ALL of them could have been avoided if people had just taken care of the plants like they were supposed to. Nuclear power has killed fewer people than ALL other forms of energy production and is _absolutely_ necessary if we want to have ANY hope of halting and/or reversing climate change.
@@RabblesTheBinx when a *single* Hydro dam collapsing (the Bacqiao Dam) killed more people than ALL nuclear power plant incidents, you have a point. Also, nuclear is basically independent on natural conditions, it just produces power day and night, 24/7, 11 months a year. It is a substantial part of the most successful decarbonized grids, Canada, France and Sweden.

@@murderfaery5715 Really? I thought Nintendo made the developers take it down some odd couple years ago. If you can find that link, I'd love to replay this game
a generally accepted theory is that when Urayne and Lucille were inside the stasis pod, it was said that the thought they had when they entered was there for the time they were in stasis, and with enough info for Urayne to tell that Lucille was angry with their brainwaves, they must have had a substantial link, so fear, hate, and love for each other as friend shared between 2 for 10 years would drive someone to do what curie did, do anything to protect each other
when the episode started and you told us the backstory of who our parents are, I called it: "Maybe she's the bad guy"... then Curie appeared for the first time and I was: "Yeah... you prolly are her, right?" but she seemingly didn't recognize her husband and child... so I was getting unsure... in the end I turned out to be right... but it kinda hurt...
I kept training that pathetic Pokemon for so long, expecting it to turn into something good, and all I got was a dumb apple pie-looking piece of shit. One of the most disappointing Pokemon evolutionary lines.

What we consider uninhabitable levels of radiation aren't really uninhabitable, you can technically live there without many negative side effects in the short term, but your life span will be shorter, and you will be at risk for a multitude of conditions due to radiation exposure. They are not safe long term, but people won't be dropping dead. They will just be dealing with more cancer, more malformed children, lower fertility. There has not been enough time for the effects of an increased background radiation to really take a super noticeable effect.

I played this game myself and although it was goofy as hell, I actually loved it. I loved the new Pokemon, the new evolutions to old Pokemon, the goofy story and especially Theo. His theme is just great and I like his development through the game and this development represented in his theme. Also the music made by Emdasche is great in general! Furthermore the game has some witty and funny details, that just make it impossible not to love it, like how you evolve Cararalm by giving him a Coconut Healing Item or the cute references to Marie Curie, Oppenheimer and others. The post game and side quests were also pretty nice, although I was a bit sad that some of the post game was not yet finished, but I also think I never really finished all of the post game. Maybe I should try finishing the pokedex on my old file someday... Lastly I loved my final team, especially Pajay, Luxelong and Frosthra. Those were absolute carries!! (and yes, I started the game to look their names up and funnily enough found myself before a legendary Pokemon in Lanthanite Cave :D)
Goofiness aside, the technical accomplishments using the Black and White engine are amazing. Building an entire world and scripted story independent of the original game is really cool.
It's a shame Nintendo C&D'd the project to death. I doubt I will ever respect them ever again. If only they followed the Bethesda school of user-generated content and allowed modding of their games, Uranium could've been a seriously cool thing. Though, that would show the public how honestly terrible the last few releases have been. Kids don't tend to care about poor writing, but adults recognize it.
@@lsswappedcessna They'd never do that due to the potential for adult or controversial things being associated with their child friendly brand. Stuff like Elder Scrolls already aims at a slightly older audience than the vast majority of Nintendo IP's so Bethesda cares less about mods being made by fans.
@@caldw615 As much as I want to agree, they could easily add a thing saying "user-generated content not rated by ESRB" and let parents be parents and decide if they want to let their kids have access to fangames, which in my opinion needs to be the way it is anyways. Some organization or company does not know children as well as their parents, they can only make sweeping and often useless generalizations that don't take every child's unique upbringing or any maturity-inducing life experiences into account.

@@lsswappedcessna They'd never do that due to the potential for adult or controversial things being associated with their child friendly brand.
