It only checks one badge. because you basically need almost all HMs to get there except Fly. so the game only checks if you've got the badge for fly

I've always wanted something like this to exist for Pokemon! I really enjoyed EarthBound's map randomizer and really wished the same existed for at least one Pokemon game. Glad to see it's finally a reality. Thank you so much for sharing.

In a way, the endgame becomes easier like this, since you can get healed between each E4 fight. I guess that's the flipside of potentially running into the Champion before fighting anyone else.
Unless, of course, an elite 4 member's chamber's door exit leads to a softlock location, in which case you have to beat them with only poisoned Pokemon remaining.

I know adding one positive comment doesn't help to drown out the negative ones, but especially after one of SmallAnt's most recent community posts, I wanted to take the time to say here that I appreciate you and the content you provide. Both in your challenge videos with him, but also all the ones you do solo! You have a unique style and personality, you're crazy creative (watching grass grow? Wtf?!), and your skill and determination make your content a treat, seeing games that I love beaten in ways I would never think possible. Or just in ways that make me laugh!
As for the videos with SmallAnt, it's really sad that people take that rivalry as an excuse or cause to throw negativity at you. It's really sad that (even if they don't watch you) they can't see that without you, those videos of SmallAnt's wouldn't be possible! You two play off each other in a fantastic way, and to see either of you stop posting videos would really suck, knowing I'd be losing one of my favorite sources of funny, creative, skill-based content on the platform.
Anyway, I'm rambling, but I hope this comment helps somehow. Either to add a voice to the collective that appreciates you, or maybe to show a different perspective to someone who doesn't.

The reason you could enter the Elite 4 early is because it literally is impossible for you to be at the Elite 4 without the 8 badges, so a situation where you don't have all 8 badges at the badge check was never coded in. That is amazing
why do you need the badges if you can overlevel
Actually, the game does check that you have badge 6 (required for Fly), because that’s the only badge you can skip and still physically make it all the way to Evergrande. But that’s it, that’s the only badge the badge check there checks. Every other badge is required (directly or indirectly) to use the HMs needed to get to Evergrande.
@@Tustin2121 I think Gold/Silver has something similar, and the speedrun of the game abuses that fact to only get a small handful of the badges
The actual reason is that the badge check gate isn't even in any of the maps where you fight the E4 members and thus isn't required to be crossed in this randomizer (unless the champion is behind it). In fact, you can beat the champion alone and win.

Plot twist. You get super unlucky and enter through a one way entry.
Then every house/building entrance leads to the exit of another house/building in the same city.

I had a go at this challenge myself (Thanks for dropping the mod on Discord!) and it's honestly so fun! I recently started another random warp run but this time with randomised pokemon and overworld items (Except key items) and it is absolutely insane, you should give it a go!
I am slightly impressed that they accounted for the possibility of you whiting out to poison after beating Flannery and having the goggles cutscene work without any glitches at the Pokemon Centre. However, I wonder if they accounted for you teleporting to a different town after whiting out and then coming back through the mountain entrance.
I like to think you scared Phoebe as she’d never know when you’d randomly teleport to her, sometimes even coming from behind

god, this mod is so convoluted. I felt like my brain was melting trying to keep an internal map.
I just finished playing through a randomized map and here's are some tips for anyone else wanting to play this kind of challenge:
Getting a Abra or any pokemon that knows teleport is HIGHLY recommended. Because its randomized some doors will just lock you into a place where you can't move and effectively ends the run right there unless you have teleport and/or fly. This only happened to two or three of my doors but its a pretty lame way to get a game over.
At the start if you want to grind your starter your then you can because the starting town is a none randomized zone and your mom will heal your pokemon. Just don't use the doors in the next town and you can get both your pokedex and balls before you start so that your not at the mercy of having to get lucky and find an area that sells or has pokeballs lying around.
Pick up Zizagoon becomes way more valuable when you don't know where the next pokemart is. I only used one but if you don't want to be constantly out of items then I would recommend using at least that many if not more depending on how many more rules you want to add.
Once you get fly anytime you need to heal just go to the starting town or anywhere else you know a pokemon center is located.
Don't get to hung up on gym order unless you have a lot of time to sink into this. By the time I found the first gym I had already found the entire elite four and champion and had beaten all of the rest of the gyms and elite four. I honestly don't think I would have had as much fun with this mod if I stuck to gym order especially since if I did then every gym would have been a sweep since you'll more then likely get access to some really strong pokemon really fast. This made the later gyms and elite four that I found early really challenging and the gyms I found later pretty easy but I also did very little to no grinding.
Don't be afraid to grab strong pokemon. The likely hood that you'll be running into trainers with pokemon that are way out of your level range is very high so having a few pokemon that are way ahead makes this challenge a lot more playable but also don't just let those pokemon carry you. I found victory road pretty early but I made it a point to only catch one pokemon there and only use it when I needed it and not all of the time and I think that made this challenge a lot more fun then if I just steam rolled everything with my strongest team member every time.
Make it a point to grab HMs early. I got pretty lucky with HMs but it can be pretty easy to forget how closed off some areas are without them. A lot of rooms are just dead ends without them so at least having them means when you finally do get the badge that goes with it you get a lot more options. I didn't get cut until the very end and it made me very aware of how many items I was missing out on because it took me forever to find the first gym despite cut being the first HM that I found less than a hour into my run.
Play it be ear but be sure to take advantage of things as they become available. Most areas with important fights I found much earlier then I was ready for so I had to come back to those fights once my pokemon were strong enough but some fights I could edge out because I got a Shuppet/Banette as my first catch which already had will-o-wisp and curse so even if I couldn't win in a head to head fight I was able to wear down my opponents pokemon pretty easily which gave me a lot of exp for weaker pokemon and this also made TMs become more readily available which really helped at times even though I didn't use that many TMs.

Somehow this randomizer mentally captivates the feeling of playing Pokemon as a 7 years old who can't read English and never knows where to go next for story progression.
I really hope you actually include every generation of Pokemon for this. It's honestly so great every time us modded Switch users have a new way to play SwSh.

I thought this was just going to be a normal emerald randomizer run. I gravely underestimated the sheer insanity of this man
I like this! It seems like it really gets the feeling of exploration. You're a wandering traveller, navigating a complex web, poking your head out through portals like in Howl's Moving Castle. As you explore, your paths branch and converge, expand and contract, but they are never the same as those of mere mortals.
This randomizer is SO cool, way cooler than the usual Pokemon randomizer imo. This was a great video! I went ahead and subbed

He did open up the warp but it wasn’t anything useful. Remember, everything is randomized and there is only one door in the gym. This was the only way the that gym
Honestly, given that he randomized map spawns, he should have been aiming to stop soft locks on principle.
Rando for gen 2 and 5 in this style sounds amazing, If gen 2 games can have you warp between regions and OG Black and White can use the right hand side of the map, there is potential for some really exciting playthroughs! Love the mod and going to be messing around with it a lot!

You don't have to beat the gyms in order. Gym 5 is the only gym that checks if you have four badges. All the other gyms, you can beat in any order you like.
This usually isn't a problem in the normal game, since it's not possible to progress to the next gym without having beaten the previous gym anyway. That's why GF never bothered to program checks for it. Only Petalburg needs a check, because it's accessible in the beginning of the game.
That's so cool, it literally turns the game into a Metroidvania
