Arvis just has too much utility to not consider him in my top 3. Ranged nuke with triple ploy(4 with seal) and healing ability is just so damn flexible.
Don't forget his son Saias has similar gimmick but a color that allows him to feasibly shut down a very strong color, being red. (Also just Wargod's Tome animation)
@Ricepatty I would say Arvis has his perks, his B is fantastic to make him a swiss knife support sort of thing, but I still feel Saias makes the cut for me. Arvis CAN screw green armors hard which is almost if not just as prominent as reds, but to me Saias kind of wins in general. I do like both characters though, so I appreciate that both have considerable differences despite their similar role (essentially speaking).
A staff is way better for support since the best healing skill he has acess to is reciprical aid and since he has 33hp at base he isnt gonne heal for a lot, he can support your blade tomes however by keeping hp at the right level to still be in desperation range but also high enough for them to take a hit if they need to

I've already gone the distance on him and given him significant investment, so I feel more than obligated to go all the way for my good man. I love Berkut too, and will be +10ing him regardless of how good he is -right after I finish +10ing Narcian, that is.- I also am definitely putting Distant Counter on him once I finally get another Hector so he can be a better Enemy Phase mage-killer. Hector doesn't like me; I've pulled only one so far in all my time playing. I'm super doubtful, but I'm _really_ hoping IS releases some villain-only banners sometime. Villains need more love. (And the chances are slim, but a villain-themed seasonal banner has the potential to be incredibly amusing. -Give me serious bad guys in dumb outfits or swimsuits. I'm trying to + 10 Julius mostly since I got him recently from his Grand hero Battle and I 5 starred him I've been loving using him as a mage tank more for killing units like Reinhardt since my has distant defense
Gharneff stats seems ok, but his tome got shafted really hard, it doesnt even reference imhullu well. He should have got a firesweep effect in his tome, since it prevented counter attacks in the original appearence.
Gharnef with only Fortress Def/Res (And his tome) reaches 42/46/38/37/36 (At +10), that's nothing to scoff at for a mage, and I think the only mage who has a similar statline (i.e. High mixed bulk with good offense) would be Kliff. With SS and a Spd/Def seal, he reaches a whopping 47 HP, 48/42 Offensive spread and 41/38 bulk. That's bananas imo. I do hope Imhullu gets a cooler refine someday tho, that effect seems underwhelming. If at least was 10 chip damage instead of 5...
Berkut was already my baby so I’m already pouring my grails into him. He’s great imo if you can get good investment on him. I think he’s better if you focus on mixed bulk.
This was one of the worst Julius reviews i have ever seen. Why comparing him to lilina? He isnt supposed to be offensive. Not to mention 0 mentions to his sky high RES, to thr point of being able to survive stuff like reinhardt and even ophelia in some circumstanves. Oh also, a CC julius doesnt struggles at all against dragons, since he reaches the mix bulk to survive and kill them in return. He can survive a double from nowi easily for example. I feel some bias in this tbh, either this or pure lack of enough information.

A CC julius should be able to survive a World of thracia rein with death blow 3 at +10/+atk if he hits the ploy and have Close defense. If he can survive that, he will most likely survive dragons since they dont do as much damage, in special nowi, fcorrin, Kana and Adrift corrin. What he does struggles however, are units like raven, ayra, karla and lonqu, that could be considered "wall breakers" to some extent, since they have the slaying effect to back it up the special, together with high spd and high atk. And in the case of raven is very hit and miss, since raven gets OHKOd if he is not careful enough.

I am +10ing my Julius and I love using him so much, right now he is +5 and I run him with Iceberg, Close Counter, Quick Riposte, Atk Ploy (his Res is so high that I prefer it over Def Wave) and Close Def. He tanks mages of all colours very well and fares well at a vast amount of 1 range units too.
I feel as though this guide doesnt really mention much about arvis's unique ability "Recovery Ring". Overall, the unit has very rounded stats, even if he doesnt particularly excel at anything besides his resistance. While he doesnt make a good unit on his own, the support he can provide can be suited for a lot of teams. you can apply a good number of debuffs safely, and with Sacrifice you can use him as a makeshift healer in a pinch. He can make the most efficient use of fury and Sacrifice because of his constant sustain, and even if he is knocked down to a minimal amount of HP, he can stick to debuffing and be battle ready in a turn or two. He isnt the most powerful unit on the list, but his versatility and gimmicks make him for a very fun one. I feel like he was sorta brushed aside in this video. So if you are considering Arvis, I would totally suggest him.
Linus is my +10 goal. I'm running a Basilikos+Shield Pulse+Pavise build that made him my MVP during the Gharnef map, letting him tank even the red manakete and respond with a lethal counter. +10'ing him would be amazing.
While I may not be a fan of Aversa's character, it cannot be denied how devastating she is in Aether Raids. The mass de-buffing is phenomenal! Giving her Guidance + Wings of Mercy offers so much flexibility. Now that I got Masked Marth to +10, I plan on using my Grails on Aversa.
I personally think +Res is a more useful boon for Nowi. I run her with Speed Ploy as her C skill. This gives Nowi an advantage against other dragons and mirror match Nowi's since Speed Ploy invalidates their higher speed and +res gives her additional bulk. It also allows Nowi to offer team support since most fast units don't have over 34 res.
0:20 Why not just give him a speed ploy sacred seal instead of foddering speed ploy to him? XD 4:30 Julius is my +10 project. He's basically the perfect mage check. Even capable of taking out Reinhardt as a red unit.
berkut can have brazen DEF/RES + the atk/res brazen seal and with that +7 res for his weapon, have a interest mix bulk with 3 mov out of that, i like the video
well he have 35 DEF and 28 ( 35 ) RES ( +10 ofc ) if you chose to have +DEF he now have 39 DEF 39 DEF and 35 RES + 4 for rally RES and DEF is 43 and 39 RES base and i think that is very good for base and just need to have 41~40 HP for active the 2 brazen's

I have a +10 Raven with +Def -Res. Difference between Raven and Linus is -1 hp, -3 atk, +2 spd, -1 def, same res. Both are great units, but i think Raven is cheaper to build, some of the more powerful units like BK deserve high priority in investing HG.
The first +10 I do will definitely be Arvis, for his utility as a support unit. After that... I'm considering a few others, like Xander, Linus, and Jamke, but I'm not really decided yet. I'll wait until Arvis gets to +10 before I make a decision afterward.
Seeing this list just makes me realize how much better all of these units would be with Prfs or Refines that their probably not going to get. Julius in particular makes me REALLY wish for a refine that let him be the tank he really wants to be, like an adaptive Defense or something like that. Now with them being freely available to +10, I'm starting to lose hope that they'll ever get that kind of love and attention.
I would disagree about camus. If the build you displayed is what you used it seems more offensive and not for enemy phase tanking which is what you described for him to do with distant counter. I would argue he can survive some mages given say distant defense seal and vantage. His speed is in a good spot where he is hard to double and with hone cav can possibly double back.
I don’t think you gave legion proper credit. I use him with +spd wo gun, noontime, his duel skill, wrath, infantry pulse, hp seal, and s supported. He has the hp and speed to tank hits from some pretty strong red units and his attack doesn’t let me down. In my opinion, the best way to use him is as an offensive unit with impressive hp bulk

Well with the grails do you think we'll get some weapon refines on them now? I'm gonna +10 all of these units eventually but I think I'll start from who I like best character wise and work my way from there. Well Arden's the exception but I need a good Red Armor so.
Since Legendary Tiki set the precedent for DC weapons to have additional effects, I'm thinking we'll see weapons like the Gradivus, Raijinto, and Stout Tomahawk get refines in 3.0. As for other Grail units, I think Julius, Finn, and Garon could benefit from refines.
Aidan Perry I feel that Dorcas is actually fine where he is with his weapon at the moment but I think Ryoma, Xander and maybe Camus need refines, my main issue with that is that Hardin gets a boost but since he's been overshadowed by Brave Hector him getting a buff wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Finn should totally get a refine too, There's a theory that he got his own Brave Lance personal weapon instead of the the usual Brave Lance+ but IS then scrapped it after they decided to give Reinhardt an alt, since we saw the Thracia characters over a month before they were added.
Berkut needs a refine! He needs Kriemhild, his lance from the game which would give him distant counter and +8 res (okay maybe +8 res is pushing it a little bit definitely at least +4 or +6). I’m using him right now at +4 and he is an amazing tank other than the fact that he can’t counter magic units!
@@shadedhydra6674 I feel that first we need our Naga tomes to be super buffed as they cant kill dragons as for which characters in the heroic grails, Arvis could use an additional effect, he is strong but not quite there, Navare just needs a refine even if he gets a solitary blade like lonqu, Berkut needs Kriemheld end of story and Clive could use some love since he has so much competition for his current role

I can't find a good guide on how the stat ups on merges work. Are they random, or are they predetermined depending on the unit? Do IV's of the unit being merged into decide what stat ups they're going to get?
Kinda complicated but 2 stats are raised by 1 each merge. Those 2 stats (for the 1st merge) are the highest, and second highest stats of that unit when it was level 1. For the next merge, the 3rd and 4th highest. 3rd merge, 5th highest and then 1st again. It continues in that pattern. At +5, each stat is each by 2 and +10 each is raised by 4. Oh and iv's are taken into account when finding the 1st, 2nd, etc highest stats to increase first.
Can you +10 a nunit after you have made them from 4star to 5star I was going to use my grail on king Garon to make an all beats team but I wanted to know if I can still +10 him after I've leveled him up to 5 star?
I think +10'ing one of these units is going to be a waste of time because I fully expect IS to raise the merge cap soon. Just in the last few months we've seen level 4 skills introduced, 180 BST units, random units getting the trainee boost for no good reason, etc. They seem to be going full in on raising everything. I expect +15 or +20 soon, which is why I haven't even bothered to spend any grails. Taking weeks then months to get more copies of a specific unit, only to see that rug pulled out from under us yet again, makes me not even bother with it.
The worst thing about Aversa is not being able to tell if someone likes her because she's hot or because she's actually a good unit. Damn these gacha games and their fanservice.
CC julius with sword breaker is an utter monster and shoots down all meta sword units in the game and due to cc you can just park him infront of dragon units and have him just counter attack them to death without them attacking into his low defense if he were to have attacked from a distance.
the adaptive damage only happens when you attack the dragon from range. if a mage uses cc and is attacked into then the adaptive damage doesn't occur. people should know this by now since its says "when range = 2" on all skills which do this.

Xander, Zepheil, Narcian, F Robin, Ursula, and Lloyd were all left out. I understand Narcian and Robin being left out since they are pretty bad, however the rest of them still have uses, all be it limited. Xander is a free DC Calvary Sword unit, Ursula is a great Blade tome mage, Zepheil is still a solid Red Armored, and Lloyd is has a gimmicky play style to be pair up with a mage. I don’t think he missed anyone else other than these 6 but still just wanted to get these out there. He also forgot Valtar, a very solid blue flier option. Also Walhart who is a very powerful Axe Calvary unit to rival to usefulness of Frederick. Lyon being a very decent red mage even though his his main purpose is to be a bow counter.

@Ricepatty for me the ability to heal in place of a dedicated staff user puts him over the top. This is from a PvE perspective though.

I have a +10 Raven with +Def -Res. Difference between Raven and Linus is -1 hp, -3 atk, +2 spd, -1 def, same res. Both are great units, but i think Raven is cheaper to build, some of the more powerful units like BK deserve high priority in investing HG.

The first +10 I do will definitely be Arvis, for his utility as a support unit. After that... I'm considering a few others, like Xander, Linus, and Jamke, but I'm not really decided yet. I'll wait until Arvis gets to +10 before I make a decision afterward.

Seeing this list just makes me realize how much better all of these units would be with Prfs or Refines that their probably not going to get. Julius in particular makes me REALLY wish for a refine that let him be the tank he really wants to be, like an adaptive Defense or something like that. Now with them being freely available to +10, I'm starting to lose hope that they'll ever get that kind of love and attention.

I would disagree about camus. If the build you displayed is what you used it seems more offensive and not for enemy phase tanking which is what you described for him to do with distant counter. I would argue he can survive some mages given say distant defense seal and vantage. His speed is in a good spot where he is hard to double and with hone cav can possibly double back.

I don’t think you gave legion proper credit. I use him with +spd wo gun, noontime, his duel skill, wrath, infantry pulse, hp seal, and s supported. He has the hp and speed to tank hits from some pretty strong red units and his attack doesn’t let me down. In my opinion, the best way to use him is as an offensive unit with impressive hp bulk

Well with the grails do you think we'll get some weapon refines on them now? I'm gonna +10 all of these units eventually but I think I'll start from who I like best character wise and work my way from there. Well Arden's the exception but I need a good Red Armor so.
Since Legendary Tiki set the precedent for DC weapons to have additional effects, I'm thinking we'll see weapons like the Gradivus, Raijinto, and Stout Tomahawk get refines in 3.0. As for other Grail units, I think Julius, Finn, and Garon could benefit from refines.
Aidan Perry I feel that Dorcas is actually fine where he is with his weapon at the moment but I think Ryoma, Xander and maybe Camus need refines, my main issue with that is that Hardin gets a boost but since he's been overshadowed by Brave Hector him getting a buff wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Finn should totally get a refine too, There's a theory that he got his own Brave Lance personal weapon instead of the the usual Brave Lance+ but IS then scrapped it after they decided to give Reinhardt an alt, since we saw the Thracia characters over a month before they were added.
Berkut needs a refine! He needs Kriemhild, his lance from the game which would give him distant counter and +8 res (okay maybe +8 res is pushing it a little bit definitely at least +4 or +6). I’m using him right now at +4 and he is an amazing tank other than the fact that he can’t counter magic units!
@@shadedhydra6674 I feel that first we need our Naga tomes to be super buffed as they cant kill dragons as for which characters in the heroic grails, Arvis could use an additional effect, he is strong but not quite there, Navare just needs a refine even if he gets a solitary blade like lonqu, Berkut needs Kriemheld end of story and Clive could use some love since he has so much competition for his current role
@@TheWitchofEndor-1 If you give him Distant Counter and refine his lance for Res then he absolutely counters magic units, also his mixed bulk scales very well with field buffs. In any case I want him to get Kriemhild too anyway haha

I can't find a good guide on how the stat ups on merges work. Are they random, or are they predetermined depending on the unit? Do IV's of the unit being merged into decide what stat ups they're going to get?
Kinda complicated but 2 stats are raised by 1 each merge. Those 2 stats (for the 1st merge) are the highest, and second highest stats of that unit when it was level 1. For the next merge, the 3rd and 4th highest. 3rd merge, 5th highest and then 1st again. It continues in that pattern. At +5, each stat is each by 2 and +10 each is raised by 4.
Oh and iv's are taken into account when finding the 1st, 2nd, etc highest stats to increase first.

Is +Spd one of the better IVs for Nowi? I was told Def was considered her best boon.
I think +10'ing one of these units is going to be a waste of time because I fully expect IS to raise the merge cap soon. Just in the last few months we've seen level 4 skills introduced, 180 BST units, random units getting the trainee boost for no good reason, etc. They seem to be going full in on raising everything.
I expect +15 or +20 soon, which is why I haven't even bothered to spend any grails. Taking weeks then months to get more copies of a specific unit, only to see that rug pulled out from under us yet again, makes me not even bother with it.
Why do I see every character here except Aversa when I go to spend my Grails?
I recommend Garon to new players given he is very good without merges and ivs

CC julius with sword breaker is an utter monster and shoots down all meta sword units in the game and due to cc you can just park him infront of dragon units and have him just counter attack them to death without them attacking into his low defense if he were to have attacked from a distance.

Fighting dragons with a mage (even on CC) still targets you with adaptive damage tho
People seem to forget that dragons do adaptive damage
the adaptive damage only happens when you attack the dragon from range. if a mage uses cc and is attacked into then the adaptive damage doesn't occur. people should know this by now since its says "when range = 2" on all skills which do this.
@@notimportant493 no, it means bow/dagger/mage/staff units will suffer adaptive damage, even with CC.

Xander, Zepheil, Narcian, F Robin, Ursula, and Lloyd were all left out.
I understand Narcian and Robin being left out since they are pretty bad, however the rest of them still have uses, all be it limited.
Xander is a free DC Calvary Sword unit, Ursula is a great Blade tome mage, Zepheil is still a solid Red Armored, and Lloyd is has a gimmicky play style to be pair up with a mage. I don’t think he missed anyone else other than these 6 but still just wanted to get these out there.
He also forgot Valtar, a very solid blue flier option. Also Walhart who is a very powerful Axe Calvary unit to rival to usefulness of Frederick. Lyon being a very decent red mage even though his his main purpose is to be a bow counter.
