Thinking that E!Ike is already half a year old and continues to rule the meta in every mode, and that keeps on getting stronger is crazy. Very cool video, hearing you two talking like this like in a podcast is my favorite type of videos I think. Keep up the good work you guys are amazing :D
Before he dropped I felt like I still had chance at getting highest Arena. After he dropped, I couldn't even get tier 19. And cut off from my source of orbs, I just dropped the game. I now mostly play Gachas based on PvE content with miniscule, if any, PvP and I feel way better. Ike marked for me the tome where playing with favourites stopped being viable forever and... Man it stings.
Complexity creep is MOST CERTAINLY a thing. It's gotten to the point where I just wait for PM1's videos to come out and be presented in a way that I can actually comprehend. I don't NEED to know all the complex math crap that calculates stat buffs and effects if the unit as a specific threshold, all I need is "This unit gets stats and these effects" that PM1 provides
Nice conversation For me the aggressive powercreep of 2024 made me stop paying for orbs. I lost the horizon of keeping my units relevant. There was a time where I could just spend a little more and keep my gen 1 gen 2 units relevant. Not anymore Ike, for example, is simply a check. I pivoted to invest in Ingrid to kill him, but then now this is also irrelevant. It's just not fun to chase such hard goals in such a tiny timeframe of utility.
Favorite change was Rearmed and attuned units being able to use each other’s arcane weapons and echo skills while being able to keep using their prf skills. It gives them some amount of longevity because as long as these weapons and skills keep dropping you can keep your units up to date while being able to keep using what makes many of these units unique (their prf weapons/skills). I wish they did the same for older (remixed) legendaries and mythics as well as refined brave units.
Uh, excuse me, Oblivionknight. As you mentioned in your video, you did mention low revenue on FEH, right? What do you think FEH might happen if IS don't fix major changes to FEH, because I honestly feel like because of powercreep people are getting less entertaining and less enjoying the game, so I mean I'm not being rude, I am just trying to help people go back to around 2019 before FEH pass was released, as for me and my feelings to FEH community I feel really bad for people who have quit FEH a long time mostly due to powercreep and getting harder to play game, which they ate right about that, but do you think IS can fix all of these major problems?
@@nobunagaoda9277 i don't think its possible to completely fix all the problems feh has, but I do think its possible for feh to switch its focus to content more people would enjoy. I think focusing on pvp is a major mistake
@Oblivionknight Oh um alright sounds fair yeah your right! If FEH actually focused on PVE instead of PVP game mode, I do feel like old and new players will be enjoying to the game and it might bring FEH community happy, but IS focused on PVP for some reason, is why I feel like people have quit the game, like for example giving us more events to play every week? Instead of month? That would be great! But instead IS focused on PVP game modes is the reason why many people already left, I also don't like how IS are just making the game more like PVP game modes, which I can completely agree with that but still changing to PVE game mode would be more fun for all of us.
@Oblivionknight uh hello Oblivionknight I wanted say why in the world FEH community is not used to be same as 2017 was, because whenever I play this game people are just way too harsh and I don't know if people are just mad or doesn't like about FEH community and whenever I comment something good and I talk about one little mistake people disagrees, so I mean yesterday was really sad especially on PM1's fans so I don't know if people are just not happy about FEH, you know what's worse sometimes it makes me really depressed because people are not just appreciating other people's feelings, I know it's not related to powercreep but do you think it's coming from P2W or do you think it's coming from hate community itself since powercreep is so common thing to have.
This game is like the population of Japan. Mostly elderly (long time players) and almost no births... With the insane complexity creep I wonder how much longer will the playerbase tolerate the amount of bs of the meta before moving somewhere else leaving the game to die...
we need more fire emblem podcasts. also a let play of all feh tubers playing one game. lol congratulations on milestone on twitter feh. 2000 followers!
I really liked the discussion of the power creep spikes. One of my issues is that it has been so much so consistently. It's a pace that feels impossible to keep up with, but you and PM1 always give me hope that I can use my favorites and still have fun!
I'd like some mode similar to Aether Raids or "hardcore" PvE that limits the units and skills to a specific year / version of the game, similar to Limited Battles but the limitation is release. The meta for that mode would be a bunch of easy to +10 Units (a lot of favs) with lots of available fodder options to build them for that specific meta. The main issue I can foresee would be dragonflowers might be too influencial in such a mode, but if implemented properly it could a nice way for old and new players to experience old metas a make use of old units and fodder for some rewards.
I don't wish to say this but yeah, you're absolutely right, Zeshado is a negative meme and PM1 is so positive that this conversation proves PM1 is better than Zeshado is, just from my perspective only okay?
@vorsillionx Yeah, me too. I look forward to seeing these kinds of conversations where other FEH youtubers can discuss powercreep. I mean, PM1 and Fehology collab was the greatest conversation for this year, so yeah I look forward to see more of these as well!
Thanks for the video, it was great hearing your and PM1's thought on the state of powercreep in the game. That being said, I just dropped FEH b/c I feel overwhelmed by all the skills, statuses, and whatnot you need to play the game. That and the need to "keep up with the jones" has made the game pretty unfun, since every other banner is introducing something that feels groundbreaking and IS is just as stingy with orbs as they've always been. It feels kind of futile investing in units knowing that their shelf life is a fraction of what it once would've been and it sucks the joy out of building a unit for me. It's been fun, but all good things come to an end.
I like Emblem Ike but I just wish they would do more with earlier units. Hands down my all time favorite is legendary Ike. But he and a lot of other unit's just can't keep up. Which is why I would wish they do something like, refining a refined character. I mean, there must be a reason why updated skills get "II" in the name, does that mean one day we'll get "III" skills? Or "++" here's hoping for Radiant Aether III.
Yeah i recently got sov catria and shes okay with her refine, its just above arcanes but it is still not there for what she needs, especially being mid in everything but atk. Let alone my favorite SoV units like Tobin, Clair, mathilda and Booey who i just have to pray for an ult since their refines are so old and their stats got creeped far beyond dragonflowers saving them.
Looking back Duo Lyon feels like such an absurd increase in power compared to Legendary Male Robin to me. The idea of us getting a unit next year that makes Duo Lyon look like a joke horrifies me.
This was such a well-done video! And I always love your discussions with PM1. Thanks for all the work you did in putting together this fantastic video!
I know the complexity creep is getting to me, and I only Started two and a half years ago. Can’t imagine how it is for people who remember when the skills the unit came with were what they were stuck with.
IS has put themselves in a corner when it comes to unit design. One huge change I don’t think was mentioned was a ton of unit complexity has been put into units specials as opposed to weapons. Units like Ike, Alfonso and Timerra are an example of this. Each passive slot is getting more and more complex. Emblem Ike’s special has a longer description by itself then any unit from 2022
I stopped playing for a few months - stopped during Duo Lyon banner. This is the first time I returned from a break where I am absolutely shocked by the power creep 😂. Despite having every meta hero and all meta fodder before my break, there are friends' AR-D that I simply can not beat with any team from my barracks. (Fjorm Nagi balls with Heirdun, no team of mine can penetrate them.)
„It’s never been a better time to customize your unit than now?“ You meant it in a way, that it’s never been a better time, to make older units workable again right? And not in terms of skill diversity, right? Cause in this department, especially for infantry units (despite having potentially the most amount of accessible skills) I feel like it never has been as boring as right now, with basically running the same skills one every unit basically being the best option. At least I feel like it’s Gust/GLR, Finish/Bonus Doubler 4/D or N Bonus Doubler, Laguz Friend and BoL/Time‘s Pulse 4 for any of them. I mean we always have sth like this, but never have I recognized this that hard than now. Especially those skill combinations probably make any Infantry workable, but also kinda exhausting and un-fun to fight against. Anyway great talk/discussion/re-vamp of the year. ^_^
Love these videos! I wonder if you guys will implement weapon refines when discussing powercreep for each month in the future? I know it’s separate from summoning/new skills but occasionally a really good weapon refine can overshadow new units.
at this point they might have to finally change how battle predictions work and how to set up for a battle exchange, at least that's some of the wishful thinking I got for this game so that a complexity powercreep would make at least a little more sense....
Emblem Ike has been my favorite addition to the game because I am a casual player who doesn't really care too much about the meta, and Ike is finally really good in a game that he's in. I also find it funny that Ike's strongest alts are his more defensive ones because that feels like a recent trend in how Ike is presented in general. Cause even though FEH has called him one of the strongest Heroes ever, in Engage Emblem Ike is one of the more defensive Emblems and he doesn't give the highest Str growth. Even in Smash he's been the slower, tankier swordfighter. Makes it feel like he has an identity crisis lol.
You're a math guy... Powercreep has to follow an exponential curve to work... (Unfortunately) The difference between +1 and +2 back then was far more impactful than +7 to +8, so the next spike has to be from like +7 to +12, +12 to +13? Naw, you have to go all the way to like 20 to make a sizable jump. It's why we went from most units having +4 in base weapon and +4 in refine (+8) to now +14 seeming like the defacto "standard"
Weirdly, even though we've got a ton of great units/skills since February, I don't feel like the powercreep *since* then has been that bad. Since CYL7 we got e.g. duo Sanaki in October (I think), who just killed everything. Then we had the crazy Christmas banner who wrecked everyone they fought, then DuoSeidr and Lyon came out shortly after and were insane. Then in Feb/March there was another big jump, and all those units dropped out the meta. However, I haven't really noticed a big jump every month since then. The units from e.g. March are still amazing (read: Ike). We've got a lot of very good units since then, but the new units aren't really much better than e.g. Ike, Nergal, etc.
PS. Felix do be nuts though. PPS. What really bothers me is when a great unit comes out (and I either miss it or invest heavily), and then the unit isn't very good by the time of the rerun (when I can either get the unit or finish the merge project).
So, the video says that it's best to focus on emblem heroes as units, while also focusing on Breath of Life 4, Laguz Friend 4 and Shield Fighter as skills. The question is: Should I focus on merging Timerra right now for having two of these skills or it's best to go for this month's Emblem Hero? Is it better to skip Timerra's banner and go for the Emblem Hero when you're a free player and can't spark? It's very possible to focus on the emblem hero and only end up with copies of the other color-sharing units instead.
@@eduardodias3707 I'm personally holding off to the Emblem Hero banner (especially as I don't have Celica either, just like I waited for the Marth + Ike colourshare) and then I'll go back to Timerra's banner if I have any orbs left 😅
As far as reccomendations to new players go, just tell them to do all the pve content, and then if they stick with the game they can try pvp afterwards.
Honestly, before E Ike the game was so unplayable with the strong cav and flier lines that just 1shot all of your units at +10 merge. Ike is a lot of people's favorite Fire Emblem character and all of his alts were in a sorry state prior to E Ike. The problem with him is all the new overpowered skills you can put on him like Fortifications and BOL 4 just synergize so well with his kit. Slap a celica ring on him too and he is hard to kill.
TBH, I’m not interested in summoning Emblem units and I don’t believe they add value to your barracks beyond just further dividing casual crowds who want to enjoy their favorites no matter what and people who just want to press an “I Win” button in PVP, the latter of whom seems to be the target audience now. I find needing them to really customize your units to sound so commercialized and so going against the purpose of customizing as many units as you want, especially in regards to the limit on who you can attach Emblem units to, which is also a problem with Engage too.
I love how Fehology included PM1 as his special guest, my favorite if I have to tell you my honesty of this years powercreep was Emblem Celica for Warping units, also Breath of Life 4 was a great thing to have although it heals you a lot, from near units and I also like Duo Lyon the last not only he freezes your opponents, but Duo Lyon also deals way too much damage, so yeah they are my top 3's, but rather than those three events I actually didn't like anything else.
Some opinions here are a bit biased towards how they're now, instead of how impactful they were back then, for example, the May banners of last year were by far more meta influential than this year's, Fallen Maria and to lesser extent Fallen Byleth, meanwhile this year only had Nergal as a meta threat, Bridal Tiki was THE savior for a while meanwhile BSharena is just a WEdelgard sidegrade(sorry Joel but you know it's the truth, you even told us in BSharena banner breakdown) and now BFelix powercrept them both, then you put LHinoka there, a unit who created flyer lines and obliterated arena but forgot to contrast her with this year legendary: LCorrin? I mean we all know he's bad, but that's fine, the purpose of this video is to determine which year had the most powercreep and his omission don't do that premise justice. That said, it was still entertaining to listen to you both in this rare but welcome PM1 colab, his assestment about BFelix extra action probably getting nerfed is a fear we both share, it feels weird that this is the third one already, how time flies.
I stopped playing for a little less then a year after brave corrin came out and coming back to the game has been really overwhelming tbh I feel like the power creep has gotten quite bad. Like when I last played brave hector and Ike were both good units but now I feel like the things that made them good are on a b skill that also gives like 5 other things. Or like a weapon that would (in my time) be considered super OP and broken is just average or not good enough
@@danieldiaz-fg2rv yeah I get that I just feel like this year was a huge jump. And with gamepress not supporting feh anymore I feel like it’s getting harder and harder for newer players to join in.
Curiosity what are y'all's top two favorite units? (I say 2 because i feel there is usually a close second to the most favorite.) Mines are Female Corrin and Veyle.

The taxes 😂
Or like a weapon that would (in my time) be considered super OP and broken is just average or not good enough
remember when male grima (fallen robin) used to be insanely good? comparing that to now feels so weird.
@@jamie151-d9j yeah I remember my last high investment was legendary Lucian but now compared to others she just seems like a joke of a unit :/
It happens in all the gachas, even more on other ones... FEH is one of the more friendly ones and that's surprising
@@danieldiaz-fg2rv yeah I get that I just feel like this year was a huge jump. And with gamepress not supporting feh anymore I feel like it’s getting harder and harder for newer players to join in.
Curiosity what are y'all's top two favorite units? (I say 2 because i feel there is usually a close second to the most favorite.)
Mines are Female Corrin and Veyle.
