Yeah but they also get a refine after just 2 Years which is likely to give them another boost back in the meta. So for me as a F2P Player I think they are awesome bc they are relatively "easy" to spark and are usuable for a long time

Those were the days!! PM1 clears were life savers. I still remember being mad because I merged my Eir and she screwed up the AI. I had to work a lot harder after that.
The best thing about brave units is how often they show up in comparison to other units so if you voted for them initially and they are your top priority, odds are you can get a fully merged one in about 1-2 years if you spark for them every time.
Pulling 11 PA!Inigos whilst trying to +10 L!Lyn on her original run ended up being one of the happiest accidents to crop up on the tail end of Lynhardt's threatening colorless and blue units. Man ended up as one of my sleeper meta counters on complete accident.
They really gotta do Brave Remixes at some point. Give the prf skill-less ones a prf (deep star claude please god) and upgrade the prf skills of the ones that already have them

I’ve got a video with them altogether without any watermarks so other folks can use them. We give IS a hard time, but they do a good job with the cut scenes. 🙂
Same, mine has a full kit with Atk/Spd Prime, Gambit (with Aether) and Assault Troop, he kills so many threats I expect him to die to, the only things giving him problem are Abyssals and squishy Cav Mages, otherwise he can either tank and retaliate or get the kill on player-phase, and while it makes me sad to see him so low here, it makes sense since a wrong move and he will melt to the average DR Piercing mage, which is far from good for a unit like him, specially on competitive modes, now, when it comes to Beast Units, I've yet to find a unit that deals with them as good, it only really took until last month for me to finally find a Beast he couldn't kill, anything else fell like a moth going to a very hot lamp, it's insane.
I really wish old brave units got prf skills Like give Lucina Future Vision or even Future Sight from her Rearmed Give Claude Golden Deer Rule to go along with his other 2 house leaders It feels weird that they didn’t start doing that till the next year

So so sad CYL units in particular can't get rerefined or remixed skills at the very least. They're flagship units for the series (look at Brave Ike influencing his incarnation even in Engage, a main series game), falling off so hard is a bit of a shame. Still hoping Brave Heroes one day get something.
B!Edelgard was my choice CYL on my first few days of playing FEH. Although I was greedy grinding those story orbs to getting Dimitri and Claude, she is still useful nowadays as my reliable Near Savior against herself wearing the winter costume. She was also my omnitank back then. Good times 😁

I used Lyn and then Veronica obsessively until save balls exposed their lack of killing power. To this day, my only AR-D line that went undefeated was a cav emblem that relied on those two. If they just give B!Tiki the true DR based on Res, I could definitely make her omnitank build work with my support barracks. Won't lie that I'm most excited with the CYL refines than with the new CYL units xd

I’m gonna have to pick Alfonse for this years CYL regardless of how good the other winners might be. I’ve been voting for him for probably three years and now that he’s finally in let’s just say my bias is definitely gonna show lol.
I remember first starting FEH and one of my first units was B!Edelgard. I had no Idea what I was doing and just got whatever units I recognized because I had only played Fates, awakening, and 3h. Now B!Edelgard has never left my general use team since.
I remember I saved for the whole year as an f2p so I could +10 B! Tiki (which I did) because I love Tiki, and she's done well for me ever since. She can tank some unexpected things like Emblem Ike which is fun. Hoping she gets a really good refine.
Speaking of the breaker skills, I wish they'd bring them back. I used to be able to take a f2p unit, and invest into it enough to take down a specific enemy premium unit. These days, 95% of my units go ping against all the new tanks.
@FEH I'd like something completely broken tbh. Like, uber triangle adept, full NFU, piercing, and a whole bunch of stats (or true dmg/dr instead). Something that could bring back the colour wheel.

As someone with 10+ brave Eliwood he's still somehow holding on surprisingly good and I didn't change his build for about a year, obviously there are some units that give him trouble, but he's not as bad as some people say
Even when Null Follow Up was common, it was fairly easy to scout for, so I've loved my +10 Brave Tiki. Base kit to base kit she EASILY trashed Ascended Tiki who supposedly power crept her (that was more a matter of inheretence potential than what Ascended actually came with). You are correct, though, the raw power creep is causing Brave Tiki to struggle, even with new toys like Dragon's Roar. High Dragon Wall only exists for warp bubble support (as valuable as that is) and doesn't actually make her any tankier than New Divinity. And New Divinity locking out Echo skills is becoming an increasingly steep price to pay. Depending on her refine and what new skills CYL brings, I might seriously consider testing a Glacies/Laguz Friend 4 build. And seriously, there was NEVER a reason for I.S. to give her Def/Res Menace. Even if you want to keep a Menace on her, Atk/Res is a flat upgrade.
Brave Tiki is the one unit that I cannot turn off my bias brain for, I picked her as my free unit, S supported her with Say’ri immediately, and have never looked back since. #1 tier forever in my heart, never had a bad time using her
With B!Tiki there was the case of duo Tiki just powercreeping her of course. But i liked B!Tiki a lot for the Attack/Res finish 4, which i used on the newly refined Dimitri. And later on other units when i got her again. I also do like using dragon units, and some of the B! dragon killers like B!Alm and B!Eliwood even more had the issue that dragons dealt massive damage to them if the dragon survived/hit first. With some dragons being able to just oneshot B! dragon killers.
Brave Veronica was really amazing at release those days we're so fun! But man did she really get hit so hard first her refine was decent but not that good and then she fell off so hard that barely anybody use her even with a very invested build she still struggles alot! :( I wish they could do a re refines for old cyl units and especially giving a prf for the 2nd cyl old winners that didn't get one it would be really cool and they deserve it considering the latter got ones.
CYLs are honestly such a double edged sword. I got brave variants for all my favorite characters without waiting too long, but now they're outdated and out of the meta. Except for Seliph, but I still hope Brave Seliph refine helps him reclaim his menace title. I don't have high hopes but one can dream.
I fear for the Timi refine, will be insane to make up for the lacking initial appearance, will it be a Sothis level refine, only god knows. Also Brave Dimitri for LIFE

Really weird seeing Brave Lucina and Brave Ike so low when they immediately became meta defining with their refines (arguably the single best non-dancer support and tank of their time respectively), but your placements for their release windows are spot on when you get down to it.
Same goes for Brave Hector, jeez XP All that said, I was super invested into Brave Lucina from the beginning. I had her at +10 already (or close to it; +8 maybe?) when her refine released, so needless to say I was VERY happy to see how good her refine was.
I +10 Brave Dimitri on the day of his banner with all of my orbs saved from the CYL results announcement…and then spent the next 2 years trying to salvage him with new skills. Legendary Dimitri coming out months later didn’t help Brave much either.

Not to be that guy, but far save didn't exist until the February after b!edelgard launched, and no, she was not a good far save user at that time. The same banner that brought save skills brought Duo Líf, who b!edel couldn't tank worth a dang. Duo Líf killed basically all green far save candidates on his own for quite a while. Brave edel was an amazing NEAR save user, but was never a great FAR save
Wow, seeing B!Dimitri on the second lowest kind of made me sad ngl. He saved my ass so many times with his refines he was basically the tanker for my team and i always used him with B!Claude up until this year's CYL. Last year powercreep heroes kind of ruins everything...
I just realised, the gold unwinding description (gullveig B skill) is brave chrom assist skill description no ? I was reading and was like "wait, she can reposition allies ??"
B!Edelgard hate during her AHR still makes me upset to this day because she is the Unit that aged the best in that AHR. The thing the FeH community don’t understand is that power creep will happen. That how they get the most money out of the Whales and Mega Whales. The 5% and 1% of players. The games is also mainly a PvP Gatcha game, you have a lack of control of who you go against which increase the Danton power creep and the control player do have. All of this lead into AHR. The best unit to have for this are Unit who will age well as they will either survive the new power creep damage or take out the new tank in minimal hits. Which is why B!Edelgard and Hegie are the smarter option. This video explain B!Edelgard pretty well but with Hegie. Her survival aspect is gone however she still takes out unit in 1-2 hits meaning she still does her job. I just have to use my brain. The biggest criticism against them are them being non-limited which is a bad point because what you are saying is “I would rather have a bad unit who limited then a good one”. This point has also recently been shown to be stupid, especially by the dev who been rerelease all the better unit since this year AHR after the stupidity of green dream. Ultimately, B!Edelgard has aged like wine despite being a character who chance of getting to old age is slim and it sucks that she didn’t win.
The moment Brave Roy had in the sun was stolen by his father. I kinda miss that era, where base units could overnight become the next hot stuff. When Bigeye Eliwoos as the king of Galeforce.

Yes, chrom had better longevity, but if we are purely looking at meta impact on release, for me chrom is below brave erika. Brave erika, lyn, and veronica were absolute scorges on the meta in a way i dont feel like chrom ever truly was, his impact feels more at home around the soren/Corrin level imo, that is to say i think he is and will age better
I would say that this may just be biased because I'm a huge fan of Tiki, but I do not think that Brave Byleth is or even was better than Brave Tiki. Byleth was a unit that I never saw anyone using and Tiki was someone that I still see today being used on teams from time to time. I couldn't tell you the last time I've ever seen anyone using Brave Byleth. Even now Byleth would need A LOT of help to even be considered good these days. Maybe they both sit at the bottom together, but I do not think that Byleth is a rank above Tiki and I will stand by the fact that I think that Byleth is the worst unit from that CYL banner.
I know everyone loves to hype him up but even after his refine I think Dimtri still sucks tbh. He is unquestionably better than he was before but thats not exactly a highbar to cross. Only thing he really has is all the infantry stuff but thats not exactly unique to him its more that IS loves infantry units.

I’ll copy and paste what I put in the Discord. “Robin was originally thought poorly of as a carry/godsword until they realised how good of a tool Rally Spectrum was for units to either work as Scowl protection or to allow non-Slaying units to precharge stuff, and Robin’s mix of all roundery stuff such as his generally decent bulk, warping and powerful boosted Ignis/Bonfire made him actually very easy to slot on teams because of his overall versatility. Absolutely not C Tier.” I saw a lot of people widely consider Robin to be the best one of the batch for a good while even after Young Male Robin dropped. Depending on your frame of release, he’s best paired with Gust, Atk/Spd Excel, Laguz Friend, Tip The Scales! and Squad Ace BV3. If your team runs a unit such as Askr or Nidavellir (which I do for a Galeforce support), this build allows Robin to fire off two DR piercing Laguz boosted Gust procs every combat.

Maybe I'm biased but I cannot see robin lower than brave ike on release for that matte. Heck brave Claude being better is wrong also imo, he had nothing of value. Even robin had a good support making him versatile you keep devaluing.

That’s really well said. A lot of our expectations are set by the 1 or 2 that dominate the meta. The vast majority end up fading.
I really think Edelgard stood the test of time, she stood out as an incredibly strong unit for years and she's just now really falling off imo.

I usually calculate this every year. I think for a green, you can +10 a brave unit for around 400 orbs (50th percentile) by utilizing the spark.
Never hurts to get a single copy of every CYL unit.

I still use Brave Eliwood just because of that beast effectiveness. But today its getting tougher to use. Waiting for fodder to upgrade him more.

But man did she really get hit so hard first her refine was decent but not that good and then she fell off so hard that barely anybody use her even with a very invested build she still struggles alot! :(
I wish they could do a re refines for old cyl units and especially giving a prf for the 2nd cyl old winners that didn't get one it would be really cool and they deserve it considering the latter got ones.

CYLs are honestly such a double edged sword. I got brave variants for all my favorite characters without waiting too long, but now they're outdated and out of the meta. Except for Seliph, but I still hope Brave Seliph refine helps him reclaim his menace title. I don't have high hopes but one can dream.
I fear for the Timi refine, will be insane to make up for the lacking initial appearance, will it be a Sothis level refine, only god knows.

Really weird seeing Brave Lucina and Brave Ike so low when they immediately became meta defining with their refines (arguably the single best non-dancer support and tank of their time respectively), but your placements for their release windows are spot on when you get down to it.
Same goes for Brave Hector, jeez XP
All that said, I was super invested into Brave Lucina from the beginning. I had her at +10 already (or close to it; +8 maybe?) when her refine released, so needless to say I was VERY happy to see how good her refine was.
You know what is missing in this video? A meta build today standard 2024. What skills to use now on the cyl units.
I would’ve loved to put more in, but this was already 2 hours of footage that I cut down to 1. I’ll try to get builds in for next time.

I +10 Brave Dimitri on the day of his banner with all of my orbs saved from the CYL results announcement…and then spent the next 2 years trying to salvage him with new skills. Legendary Dimitri coming out months later didn’t help Brave much either.

Not to be that guy, but far save didn't exist until the February after b!edelgard launched, and no, she was not a good far save user at that time. The same banner that brought save skills brought Duo Líf, who b!edel couldn't tank worth a dang. Duo Líf killed basically all green far save candidates on his own for quite a while. Brave edel was an amazing NEAR save user, but was never a great FAR save

Wow, seeing B!Dimitri on the second lowest kind of made me sad ngl. He saved my ass so many times with his refines he was basically the tanker for my team and i always used him with B!Claude up until this year's CYL. Last year powercreep heroes kind of ruins everything...

B!Edelgard hate during her AHR still makes me upset to this day because she is the Unit that aged the best in that AHR.
The thing the FeH community don’t understand is that power creep will happen. That how they get the most money out of the Whales and Mega Whales. The 5% and 1% of players. The games is also mainly a PvP Gatcha game, you have a lack of control of who you go against which increase the Danton power creep and the control player do have.
All of this lead into AHR. The best unit to have for this are Unit who will age well as they will either survive the new power creep damage or take out the new tank in minimal hits. Which is why B!Edelgard and Hegie are the smarter option.
This video explain B!Edelgard pretty well but with Hegie. Her survival aspect is gone however she still takes out unit in 1-2 hits meaning she still does her job. I just have to use my brain.
The biggest criticism against them are them being non-limited which is a bad point because what you are saying is “I would rather have a bad unit who limited then a good one”.
This point has also recently been shown to be stupid, especially by the dev who been rerelease all the better unit since this year AHR after the stupidity of green dream.
Ultimately, B!Edelgard has aged like wine despite being a character who chance of getting to old age is slim and it sucks that she didn’t win.

Yes, chrom had better longevity, but if we are purely looking at meta impact on release, for me chrom is below brave erika.
Brave erika, lyn, and veronica were absolute scorges on the meta in a way i dont feel like chrom ever truly was, his impact feels more at home around the soren/Corrin level imo, that is to say i think he is and will age better

I would say that this may just be biased because I'm a huge fan of Tiki, but I do not think that Brave Byleth is or even was better than Brave Tiki. Byleth was a unit that I never saw anyone using and Tiki was someone that I still see today being used on teams from time to time. I couldn't tell you the last time I've ever seen anyone using Brave Byleth. Even now Byleth would need A LOT of help to even be considered good these days. Maybe they both sit at the bottom together, but I do not think that Byleth is a rank above Tiki and I will stand by the fact that I think that Byleth is the worst unit from that CYL banner.
I know everyone loves to hype him up but even after his refine I think Dimtri still sucks tbh. He is unquestionably better than he was before but thats not exactly a highbar to cross. Only thing he really has is all the infantry stuff but thats not exactly unique to him its more that IS loves infantry units.
A unit with 16 speed is the best? Totally unsurprised.

Absolutely not C Tier.”
I saw a lot of people widely consider Robin to be the best one of the batch for a good while even after Young Male Robin dropped.
Depending on your frame of release, he’s best paired with Gust, Atk/Spd Excel, Laguz Friend, Tip The Scales! and Squad Ace BV3. If your team runs a unit such as Askr or Nidavellir (which I do for a Galeforce support), this build allows Robin to fire off two DR piercing Laguz boosted Gust procs every combat.
@@FEHOh and another thing I noticed. Soren’s B slot is redundant - Rare Talent gives him Tempo and top level SD builds have begun shifting him off combat and onto support duties so ironically he would actually be a better user of Pulse Tie 😂
Maybe I'm biased but I cannot see robin lower than brave ike on release for that matte. Heck brave Claude being better is wrong also imo, he had nothing of value. Even robin had a good support making him versatile you keep devaluing.
