He then pulled up Gamepress and started looking at his stats before looking back at me again and said, "Wally, this Reinhardt is +Atk. Build this Reinhardt, get him to 5 star, and give him Death Blow. I followed his direction, even messaged him if he was sure about this because I was beginning to doubt Reinhardt because he was struggling in Training Tower, but as soon he hit 5 star and learned Dire Thunder, the rest was history. - I remember that same friend was building Alfonse cause he loves Alfonse, and he ended up posting the build on Gamepress. Immediately after he posted it, some guy replies to him with a picture of a +10 Ayra and says, "This is what a real unit looks like." I honestly wonder how that guy feels about his "real" unit essentially being mediocre nowadays. - I was among the first in my friend group to realize the power Nino had back then. I was stuck using her, Virion, Cordelia, and Stahl for much of Book 1, and she was the strongest one of those 4. Remember telling my friends about her, but they didn't believe me due to her status as a 3-4 star. - Surtr wasn't even removed from the random unit spawn generator day one. He was allowed to terrorize the game for a couple of days, I think, before IS decided to snap him out of existence for maps that randomly spawned units. I remember actually having to surrender in Training Tower and Forging Bonds because of a random Surtr that spawned. Also, remember having the pleasure of going against an entire team of Surtrs. Man, that took a lot of turns just to beat them. - I got lucky and +10'd Brave Veronica pretty quickly, but because she was so oppressive that I actively refused to use her out of principle. She was also the reason I went out of my way to +10 Fallen Lyon. - Aversa was my first GHB project, mostly because I married her in Awakening. Yeah she was really good back then, she was a permanent member of my arena core team for years, but then IS decided to kill her by constantly releasing skills and units that just say "no" to debuffs. - I remember when Grima was first released I was in a very bad mood. Feh was screwing me over so much with summons during that time, even breaking my pity rate with Catria when she was still a 5 star. Well, later that day, I had 5 orbs and decided to yollo summon. I gave my phone to my friend and told him to pick a stone because I was too upset. He picks green, and immediately I get Grima. Not only I got a Grima but a +Atk/-Spd one. Ah, man, those were good times. Honestly, I wish we could turn back time and go back to those good old days.
I joined when Fallen edelgard released its crazy to think what we used to consider cracked when their weapons didn't have a whole essay in the middle of them

The problem with F!Edel was more so due to her having guard and pretty high bulk. Even with NFU some units couldn't win anyways due to just dealing 0 damage lol. Like even if you could followup most units weren't piercing her 40% DR and had to kill on the 2nd attack onwards. If it was a unit that could deal enough damage it was fine, but if you needed to rely on a special you were kinda screwed unless you had breath support. And even with breath support you had to get the special off without hitting her DR, which was even more annoying. Even B!Eirika could actually fail to kill and die to the bonfire in some situations, but that was more of a support/merge issue. Young Innes had the same problem too but only if F!Edel was highly merged lol Honestly I think it's more that F!Edel having like 7 effects in her weapon and walling most units in the game, even if it wasn't for long, had a pretty obvious effect on powercreep and made it go pretty fast compared to before her release.

This was perhaps my favorite FEH video. I love retrospectives that tell the history of a game through a specific lens, this one being the game’s best units but also the meta itself. As someone who wasn’t around from the beginning and hasn’t been able to recall the progression of the meta even since I did join, it’s a wonderful combo of a fun historical guide and a nostalgic walk down memory lane! Would love to see more historical trend videos like this. Maybe like a “hall of 20s of fame” where units that were good for extremely short periods of time before getting hard countered are covered. Or maybe a hall of shame where units who were intended to be great just flopped instead. Loving the content tho! Keep it up! 🥳
The best part about the Ayra release was that one tweet from a JP user saying, "I don't have any money, I will be using the Reinhardt." But man. I really miss the days when Takumi and Hector were game breaking. Now, everything is an essay that barely makes sense. You know IS is lowkey thinking about making a seasonal Fomortiis that's somehow worse than Lyon.

Damn i remember joining not long before L!Alm came out. I don't play anymore but damn it does bring back memories. I always remember watching Tacho's and PM1's videos when new banners dropped
DuoCatria is the best unit we've ever had in the game imho. She was so good for so long, and she's still very useable. Not like some of the other units we've had that were the broken on release, and then vanished within a matter of (what felt like) weeks. I'm suffering from recency-bias here, but Igrene and Lyon were amazing for a solid minute, then vanished almost immediately with BoL4.
Book 4 was around and about when I started playing and Ninja Lyn is what got me into Aether Raids initially. For a while Lynjaforce was the only team I had for AR and I constantly swapped her from light to astra season. Now I steal have a team devoted to her, but she just can't kill as well as she used to be able to. Hopefully when she gets her refine she can do some good stuff again!
Aversa time was the best. It made AR so fun, f2p units at the top of the meta, just mind gaming, playing around effects (because everyone had her). I miss it bad. Brave Ike was insanely strong, but IMO it was Brave Lucina who was broken. Eliwood getting Blazing Durandal was such a joy too. When IS just gave out such amazing effects to old units f2p units But my god BEdelgard on release was a monster. Having not only the stats, but being the first user friendly armor was such a revolution. Definitely overturned though, nothing could kill her reliably Honestly I think LEliwood, Mythic Altina, FMRobin and Mareeta were letdowns. They definitely don't deserve to rank on the list of the most influential heroes, but I get why you included them. I think Winter Altina was much more impactful than Fallen. She was a different level of strong, being able to receive mythic buffs herself. IS worst release was LSigurd tho. That unit was not fair, at all. I think Valentine Lif really deserves to be on here too. So unbelievably broken compared to what the gamestate was. IS best releases were Yuri, Brave Ike and Lucina refine, and Kronya. All insanely powerful units, easy to acquire, but requiring a lot of skill to use to their maximum potential.
Tbf that's less about the armors being good and more shield fighter being insanely broken Surtr at least has such a minmaxed statline that he still holds up with arcane prima
I think the real significance of F!Edelgard isn’t her power in general. There were definitely many ways to deal with her. Her main cultural significance seemed to be that she brought to the general consciousness the recognition that the basic system on which the game was originally founded was being broken and made irrelevant. The most common statement made about F!Edelgard at the time was that even Petrine, whose lance was effective against beasts, lost to F!Edelgard under normal conditions (there were a few extreme exceptions). And I think this showed people that the weapon triangle and general weaknesses were no longer working the way they were supposed to. Damage reduction, skill selection, and damage modifiers had become more important factors to consider than what colour a unit was or what this unit was effective against.
The first Christmas and halloween banners were a time to be alive. I was telling my friend who hadn't played feh in 5 years how armored units mostly suck nowadays and he was in shock
This video was made for a feh boomer like me. Before I even watch the video hopefully refined Bikecina, L Azura, ofc Reinhardt are on the list. I think the single most OP unit in history was Lsigurd before safety fence came out. Made ARO a living hell
Another honorable mention is Brave Hector. He really was the beginning of the end for powercreep imo with his refine. He was the first unit to have over 5 effects in his weapon and started the trend of weapons coming with 5-6-7 effects etc
@@theelephant2117 Brave Hector is an interesting case. He was good when he got refined, but saves didn't exist yet. Then save skills were introduced, and he gained a little momentum. But it wasn't until Hardy Fighter which was a year after that he really became prominent.
Overall a list I can agree with it, maybe with the exception of Mareeta, cause I can't remember a time, where she especially was really a big thing, at least not as much as basically any other unit in the list or even honorable mentions, at least as long if she wasn't just a symbolic meaning for the long list of god swords that were about to come. Two units I would've probably added at least as an honorable mention: - Brave Hector: If you but Brave Ike in Book III for his stellar refine, Brave Hector should've have been there in Book IV too, cause Book II refines mostly were still crap refines and if any refine (for its time!) surpasses the craziness of Brave Ike it is probably Brave Hector imo, which even had a longer longevity than Ike imo. - Ninja Duo Female Corrin: I understand that she was not among the top 5, cause she just used the formula of Ninja Duo Lyn from the year before, but even without DR piercing (which wasn't really needed that much at her time), she basically was considered a stronger Ninja Lyn, with being a mage that targets Res, which is already better (back than high Def tanks I feel like were way more common than high Res tanks) but also having Cav movement, which at that time also still was insanely strong. So she was basically using the Reinhardt-formular but actually being fast, while hitting hard. But those are the only two, where I would say, that you have missed them with not having them even in your honorable mentions. ^^
You could honestly stick Emblem Marth and Emblem Sigurd on here too. I am genuinely terrified of what happens when we finally get Emblem Dimitri, Claude, and especially Edelgarde. Emblem Hector will be crazy too.
Honestly I hope that the Emblem house leaders might get some form of Duo or Pair-Up adaptation because in Engage they are mechanically the same Emblem. But yeah, most of the DLC Emblems will make a living hell out of FEH once they come out, especially since they're probably coming out after the original 12 and maybe even Alear, so they're gonna have more powercreep to choose from
If Ninja Lyn is in there, so should Ninja Corrin, which, as a fun fact, I've been using week in week out for the last 150+ weeks as my main damage dealer in Arena without ever dropping from T21
You mention how you only needed NFU to counter Fedel, but it was actually easier than that. You could give a 4 star unit with an armor effective weapon quick riposte 2, and they would one-round her on enemy phase. I had a bunch of these units ready for Arena Assault at the time, and she was never much of a problem. I never understood why so many people threw her in the corner in AR and expected to win? Skill issue I guess.
Valentine’s Chrom wasn’t so influential but he is the first 5 star since I started this game, I pulled him because that time I really like the art style but to my surprise the unit was very good. He didn’t get powercdeeped for a long time because there was few or zero deadeye/bow users that can compete with him, and he stood one of the strongest ranged offense/support unit even until hinoka came out.
Some units who should be here: Duo Thorr - We are in literally 2024 and she's still one of the best units in SD. Erasing buffs is such a tide turner in SD. She is also the most reliable source of Stall right now where we have units with +1 MOV everywhere. Fallen Maria - When she was around, she resurrected one of the most forgotten skills in the game, C Feud. She made Galeforcing in AR a bit tricky to use and she was everywhere on the first few months of SD until they released Fatal Smoke 4. Lucia - Gambit version specifically. She was unstoppable raid boss in AR and SD for a while and she was the primary reason why all PRFs are now being released with DR shred. If that's not Hall of Fame material, I don't know what is.
All of them are in my honorable mentions at the end, it was tough to slide them in over the five I picked for each year though. Don't forget, meta impact wasn't the only factor for this. Some of these units were really influential in other ways, too!
Then there was the thing when summoning, there was this little animation and looked awsome. Back then my number one enemy was Nowi and Takumi and I always had my main team of Camilla and Robin for them. When B!Ike and L!Ike came, you could imagine the meme when Woody gets throw away. And yeah I deleted my old acc after maybe 80 summons of not getting V!Ike Yep, I l(ike) him.
Reinhardt and Ophelia's refine is just their arcane versions. Ophelia was influential more because of her fodder than the unit itself, an older +10 unit has better stats and she sadly doesn't have a prf skill like Rein. When it comes to Fallen Edelgard vs Legendary Sigurd, there are multiple things making Edel more influential: -To start, many more players had Edelgard: she's on the regular pool, her banner had a spark, as you mentioned fallen units have more hype, she's deservingly a more popular character (the only thing bro did was messing up the barbeque), Sigurd was just not seen much. -To counter Sigurd, his overwhelming mobility was also his backbone, being easely baited and taken down by green units or any ranged unit (maybe with a help of another unit for finish the job). -Edelgard has no color disavantage, sure you can slap null follow-up like you said, but those units have a lot of points alocated on speed and couldn't go through Edel's defence, having to change your unit's build on purpose as I did just makes her more influential, and that still isn't enough. -You can't bait her because if you survive the 1st round, she goes again, no one survived her bonfire, or if she galeforces she goes after the squishy unit. -You can't attack her with ranged units because they don't survive her counter-attack. -You can't kill her with multiple units because of her healing, she sometimes heals more than the damage you deal. -Even if you prepare and change the build of 1 unit just to counter her, you would have to run that unit in every single battle for the fear of her appearing, she was an 1-man army, either you have 2 units that can kill her in combination, or you lose. Say goodbye to your entire barracks you won't play them again. She was basically like an Emblem Ike on release, he now has counters sure, but then he auto wins every map.
I have to dissagree with Altina and I appreciate that you recognize she is polarizing. It was near the end of me playing aether raid at the highest level and she was mediocre at best, mainly because she is a mystic hero. She'd be so good if she wasn't but alas... you couldn't stack blessing on her so the only team she could beat were bad defenses and more time than not she'd be complete dead weight, only giving her own blessing. She basically needed crazy investment to be as good as other units so she just wasn't really comparable with all the top tier units of the time, because her weaknesses were too many, mainly being a melee flyer was a huge bane as that was probably the worst unit type at that time, making it very hard for her to use vantage strategy, thus being relegated to player phase galeforce strategy, the most niche offensive comp at the time, and she needed all the merge possible to not lose relevant stat checks. God would she been great if she wasn't a mystic hero though. PS. I think the biggest forgotten unit was Takumi from book 1, he was far and ahead the best unit in the game pre skill inheritance and the main reason why unit like Male Robin saw any kind of play in early day arena. He was also pretty strong post skill-inheritance too.
-i would've put og roy as he was for a time hector's only counter with triangle adept and his good defense allowing him to tank him and survive takumi, dragon effectiveness was also good for the few dragon teams you could meet in arena -i think i've never seen a single bride micaiah in all my time in feh, i guess it's just me, but i knew her effect was busted, everyone knew, but i've never seen anyone using her, i think it was the fear of seeing her that made duo hindrance mandatory -brave chrom still busted to this day, i've never seen such an overtuned unit and i don't think they released a more overtuned unit since, maybe brave chrom with his refine and that's it -i wouldn't have put mareeta tbh, at the time there was a lot of debates on who was better between her and ayra and ayra was pretty much agreed upon by 90% of the players to be better, i guess close call was influential but mareeta herself meh -same for henriette, the unit herself was pretty meh, but far save was very influential so might as well put her husband for near save too -same for elimine, even tho freyr just came and punched her into the trash her rein of terror lasted from her release to his -in the same vein i would add mila too, pretty much every dancers got canceled because of her dancer eldigan became meta just because he had enough def to dodge her and enough HP to dodge fjorm even tho he had no pref dance skill -i would also add winter dimitri, people sleep on him way too much i know winter edelgard overshadowed him but unlike her he's still very good to this day, vantage is still a pretty strong meta, people just don't learn and won't use hardy bearing, and i think he's the best vantage sweeper at the moment
Back in the OG days of the first months, I had an alternative to Roy, and put a lot of resources into Adult Tiki, raising her several times to five star which back then was a very big commitment and she, with her high def, red color and magic distant counter weapon, was a very solid unit to use who could beat both Hector and Takumi back to back pretty reliable. Of course she struggled against Linde or later Reinhardt but I am not going to fault her for that.
She definitely was, the Assault Troop + Raging Storm + Brave combo made her the best Galeforcer for a while, and then she could still be effective at other roles too like being a save unit or a wall breaker
I joined in the first Brave batch came out, and it’s crazy to think how many of those units I actually have. I also abused them, yes. Sorry! L Chrom and L Sigurd for life!
I would swap Ash with Elimine tbh, sure Elimine was only good in one mode but she was soo dominant there that she ruined and entire season all by herself for more than a year, every unit in anima had to play that ridiculous stacking res game for far too long, IS didn't really know how to counter her so they made Freyr, that's how dominant she was, Ash seems more tame in comparison, also no mention of Duo freaking Chrom? That guy is still good even to this day and dominated every single game mode for years, but regardless, 5 units per book is a very tight limit so I understand some heroes not making the cut, still pretty good list oh yeah and post refine BHector deserved a mention too since BIke made it into this top and BHector was waaay more dominant for longer.
No Brave Dimitri? His refine was meta defining I believe he introduced true DR right before Askr. He was in every mode the emblem Ike before emblem Ike 🤣
It took him a while to get to the point where he was Hall of Fame worthy, and by then we also had a lot of other really good armored units. He's at worst an honorable mention though, which I didn't put him in for some reason
I have 3 honorable mentions on top of my head..One is PA! Azura, B!Cordelia and the OG Black Knight.Azura I think was the 1st dancer that gives buffs with her dance through her weapon. As for Cordelia she was a great bow ranged nuke. Black Knight well... There weren't too many units that survived his Black Luna. Don't remember if he came out before the Christmas banner but he got a lot stronger with them
Bride Fjorm definitely should have been here as she was an outright Dancer killer, which immediately made her an Aether Raids offensive goddess for a time when enemy movement was pretty unpredictable for movement. Amelia is also worthy as she is basically the herald of the mobile armor and is still pretty decent stat wise even in modern.
Fun video overall but the comments on F!Edel are bit off NFU was nowhere near close the only thing you needed to win this matchup and there were in fact not a lot of answers to F!Edel at the time F!Edel floored 99% of matchups at the time and definitely put another foot down on the powercreep pedal so we could actually move on from that chapter

Aversa time was the best. It made AR so fun, f2p units at the top of the meta, just mind gaming, playing around effects (because everyone had her). I miss it bad. Brave Ike was insanely strong, but IMO it was Brave Lucina who was broken. Eliwood getting Blazing Durandal was such a joy too. When IS just gave out such amazing effects to old units f2p units
But my god BEdelgard on release was a monster. Having not only the stats, but being the first user friendly armor was such a revolution. Definitely overturned though, nothing could kill her reliably
Honestly I think LEliwood, Mythic Altina, FMRobin and Mareeta were letdowns. They definitely don't deserve to rank on the list of the most influential heroes, but I get why you included them. I think Winter Altina was much more impactful than Fallen. She was a different level of strong, being able to receive mythic buffs herself.
IS worst release was LSigurd tho. That unit was not fair, at all. I think Valentine Lif really deserves to be on here too. So unbelievably broken compared to what the gamestate was. IS best releases were Yuri, Brave Ike and Lucina refine, and Kronya. All insanely powerful units, easy to acquire, but requiring a lot of skill to use to their maximum potential.
OG Hector is STILL usable as a near save with shield fighter. Same with Surtr.
Tbf that's less about the armors being good and more shield fighter being insanely broken
Surtr at least has such a minmaxed statline that he still holds up with arcane prima

I think the real significance of F!Edelgard isn’t her power in general. There were definitely many ways to deal with her. Her main cultural significance seemed to be that she brought to the general consciousness the recognition that the basic system on which the game was originally founded was being broken and made irrelevant. The most common statement made about F!Edelgard at the time was that even Petrine, whose lance was effective against beasts, lost to F!Edelgard under normal conditions (there were a few extreme exceptions). And I think this showed people that the weapon triangle and general weaknesses were no longer working the way they were supposed to. Damage reduction, skill selection, and damage modifiers had become more important factors to consider than what colour a unit was or what this unit was effective against.
The fact that you didn't even include takumi as an honorable mention seems weird to me.
The first Christmas and halloween banners were a time to be alive. I was telling my friend who hadn't played feh in 5 years how armored units mostly suck nowadays and he was in shock

I think the single most OP unit in history was Lsigurd before safety fence came out. Made ARO a living hell
Another honorable mention is Brave Hector. He really was the beginning of the end for powercreep imo with his refine. He was the first unit to have over 5 effects in his weapon and started the trend of weapons coming with 5-6-7 effects etc
@@theelephant2117 Brave Hector is an interesting case. He was good when he got refined, but saves didn't exist yet. Then save skills were introduced, and he gained a little momentum. But it wasn't until Hardy Fighter which was a year after that he really became prominent.

Overall a list I can agree with it, maybe with the exception of Mareeta, cause I can't remember a time, where she especially was really a big thing, at least not as much as basically any other unit in the list or even honorable mentions, at least as long if she wasn't just a symbolic meaning for the long list of god swords that were about to come.
Two units I would've probably added at least as an honorable mention:
- Brave Hector: If you but Brave Ike in Book III for his stellar refine, Brave Hector should've have been there in Book IV too, cause Book II refines mostly were still crap refines and if any refine (for its time!) surpasses the craziness of Brave Ike it is probably Brave Hector imo, which even had a longer longevity than Ike imo.
- Ninja Duo Female Corrin: I understand that she was not among the top 5, cause she just used the formula of Ninja Duo Lyn from the year before, but even without DR piercing (which wasn't really needed that much at her time), she basically was considered a stronger Ninja Lyn, with being a mage that targets Res, which is already better (back than high Def tanks I feel like were way more common than high Res tanks) but also having Cav movement, which at that time also still was insanely strong. So she was basically using the Reinhardt-formular but actually being fast, while hitting hard.
But those are the only two, where I would say, that you have missed them with not having them even in your honorable mentions. ^^
You could honestly stick Emblem Marth and Emblem Sigurd on here too. I am genuinely terrified of what happens when we finally get Emblem Dimitri, Claude, and especially Edelgarde. Emblem Hector will be crazy too.
Honestly I hope that the Emblem house leaders might get some form of Duo or Pair-Up adaptation because in Engage they are mechanically the same Emblem. But yeah, most of the DLC Emblems will make a living hell out of FEH once they come out, especially since they're probably coming out after the original 12 and maybe even Alear, so they're gonna have more powercreep to choose from
If Ninja Lyn is in there, so should Ninja Corrin, which, as a fun fact, I've been using week in week out for the last 150+ weeks as my main damage dealer in Arena without ever dropping from T21

You mention how you only needed NFU to counter Fedel, but it was actually easier than that. You could give a 4 star unit with an armor effective weapon quick riposte 2, and they would one-round her on enemy phase. I had a bunch of these units ready for Arena Assault at the time, and she was never much of a problem. I never understood why so many people threw her in the corner in AR and expected to win? Skill issue I guess.
Valentine’s Chrom wasn’t so influential but he is the first 5 star since I started this game, I pulled him because that time I really like the art style but to my surprise the unit was very good. He didn’t get powercdeeped for a long time because there was few or zero deadeye/bow users that can compete with him, and he stood one of the strongest ranged offense/support unit even until hinoka came out.
Some units who should be here:
Duo Thorr - We are in literally 2024 and she's still one of the best units in SD. Erasing buffs is such a tide turner in SD. She is also the most reliable source of Stall right now where we have units with +1 MOV everywhere.
Fallen Maria - When she was around, she resurrected one of the most forgotten skills in the game, C Feud. She made Galeforcing in AR a bit tricky to use and she was everywhere on the first few months of SD until they released Fatal Smoke 4.
Lucia - Gambit version specifically. She was unstoppable raid boss in AR and SD for a while and she was the primary reason why all PRFs are now being released with DR shred. If that's not Hall of Fame material, I don't know what is.
All of them are in my honorable mentions at the end, it was tough to slide them in over the five I picked for each year though. Don't forget, meta impact wasn't the only factor for this. Some of these units were really influential in other ways, too!

Back then my number one enemy was Nowi and Takumi and I always had my main team of Camilla and Robin for them. When B!Ike and L!Ike came, you could imagine the meme when Woody gets throw away.
And yeah I deleted my old acc after maybe 80 summons of not getting V!Ike

The times when Brave Roy, a leveled up Peri, and Tempest Trial Sigurd were good enough for the job 😭
Reinhardt and Ophelia's refine is just their arcane versions. Ophelia was influential more because of her fodder than the unit itself, an older +10 unit has better stats and she sadly doesn't have a prf skill like Rein.
When it comes to Fallen Edelgard vs Legendary Sigurd, there are multiple things making Edel more influential:
-To start, many more players had Edelgard: she's on the regular pool, her banner had a spark, as you mentioned fallen units have more hype, she's deservingly a more popular character (the only thing bro did was messing up the barbeque), Sigurd was just not seen much.
-To counter Sigurd, his overwhelming mobility was also his backbone, being easely baited and taken down by green units or any ranged unit (maybe with a help of another unit for finish the job).
-Edelgard has no color disavantage, sure you can slap null follow-up like you said, but those units have a lot of points alocated on speed and couldn't go through Edel's defence, having to change your unit's build on purpose as I did just makes her more influential, and that still isn't enough.
-You can't bait her because if you survive the 1st round, she goes again, no one survived her bonfire, or if she galeforces she goes after the squishy unit.
-You can't attack her with ranged units because they don't survive her counter-attack.
-You can't kill her with multiple units because of her healing, she sometimes heals more than the damage you deal.
-Even if you prepare and change the build of 1 unit just to counter her, you would have to run that unit in every single battle for the fear of her appearing, she was an 1-man army, either you have 2 units that can kill her in combination, or you lose. Say goodbye to your entire barracks you won't play them again.
She was basically like an Emblem Ike on release, he now has counters sure, but then he auto wins every map.
I have to dissagree with Altina and I appreciate that you recognize she is polarizing. It was near the end of me playing aether raid at the highest level and she was mediocre at best, mainly because she is a mystic hero. She'd be so good if she wasn't but alas... you couldn't stack blessing on her so the only team she could beat were bad defenses and more time than not she'd be complete dead weight, only giving her own blessing. She basically needed crazy investment to be as good as other units so she just wasn't really comparable with all the top tier units of the time, because her weaknesses were too many, mainly being a melee flyer was a huge bane as that was probably the worst unit type at that time, making it very hard for her to use vantage strategy, thus being relegated to player phase galeforce strategy, the most niche offensive comp at the time, and she needed all the merge possible to not lose relevant stat checks. God would she been great if she wasn't a mystic hero though.
PS. I think the biggest forgotten unit was Takumi from book 1, he was far and ahead the best unit in the game pre skill inheritance and the main reason why unit like Male Robin saw any kind of play in early day arena. He was also pretty strong post skill-inheritance too.

-i would've put og roy as he was for a time hector's only counter with triangle adept and his good defense allowing him to tank him and survive takumi, dragon effectiveness was also good for the few dragon teams you could meet in arena
-i think i've never seen a single bride micaiah in all my time in feh, i guess it's just me, but i knew her effect was busted, everyone knew, but i've never seen anyone using her, i think it was the fear of seeing her that made duo hindrance mandatory
-brave chrom still busted to this day, i've never seen such an overtuned unit and i don't think they released a more overtuned unit since, maybe brave chrom with his refine and that's it
-i wouldn't have put mareeta tbh, at the time there was a lot of debates on who was better between her and ayra and ayra was pretty much agreed upon by 90% of the players to be better, i guess close call was influential but mareeta herself meh
-same for henriette, the unit herself was pretty meh, but far save was very influential so might as well put her husband for near save too
-same for elimine, even tho freyr just came and punched her into the trash her rein of terror lasted from her release to his
-in the same vein i would add mila too, pretty much every dancers got canceled because of her dancer eldigan became meta just because he had enough def to dodge her and enough HP to dodge fjorm even tho he had no pref dance skill
-i would also add winter dimitri, people sleep on him way too much i know winter edelgard overshadowed him but unlike her he's still very good to this day, vantage is still a pretty strong meta, people just don't learn and won't use hardy bearing, and i think he's the best vantage sweeper at the moment
Back in the OG days of the first months, I had an alternative to Roy, and put a lot of resources into Adult Tiki, raising her several times to five star which back then was a very big commitment and she, with her high def, red color and magic distant counter weapon, was a very solid unit to use who could beat both Hector and Takumi back to back pretty reliable. Of course she struggled against Linde or later Reinhardt but I am not going to fault her for that.

She definitely was, the Assault Troop + Raging Storm + Brave combo made her the best Galeforcer for a while, and then she could still be effective at other roles too like being a save unit or a wall breaker
I joined in the first Brave batch came out, and it’s crazy to think how many of those units I actually have. I also abused them, yes. Sorry!

I would swap Ash with Elimine tbh, sure Elimine was only good in one mode but she was soo dominant there that she ruined and entire season all by herself for more than a year, every unit in anima had to play that ridiculous stacking res game for far too long, IS didn't really know how to counter her so they made Freyr, that's how dominant she was, Ash seems more tame in comparison, also no mention of Duo freaking Chrom? That guy is still good even to this day and dominated every single game mode for years, but regardless, 5 units per book is a very tight limit so I understand some heroes not making the cut, still pretty good list oh yeah and post refine BHector deserved a mention too since BIke made it into this top and BHector was waaay more dominant for longer.

It took him a while to get to the point where he was Hall of Fame worthy, and by then we also had a lot of other really good armored units. He's at worst an honorable mention though, which I didn't put him in for some reason
I have 3 honorable mentions on top of my head..One is PA! Azura, B!Cordelia and the OG Black Knight.Azura I think was the 1st dancer that gives buffs with her dance through her weapon. As for Cordelia she was a great bow ranged nuke. Black Knight well... There weren't too many units that survived his Black Luna. Don't remember if he came out before the Christmas banner but he got a lot stronger with them

Bride Fjorm definitely should have been here as she was an outright Dancer killer, which immediately made her an Aether Raids offensive goddess for a time when enemy movement was pretty unpredictable for movement.
Amelia is also worthy as she is basically the herald of the mobile armor and is still pretty decent stat wise even in modern.
