I was literally trying to make this video before the World of Thracia Banner was announced because I thought it’d be fun to talk about the rise of Reinhardt in celebration of Leif finally making it to Heroes. Well, it turned out to be a celebration of a “new” version of Reinhardt instead. It’s absolutely insane that this man has gotten a 2nd alt already and it's literally just him with his sword and not even a special seasonal outfit.
Maybe the Fire Emblem for the Switch is just about Reinhardt. Can we get a Reinhardt Amiibo? Reinhardt for Smash? Who knows how far the Reinhardt hype train is going to travel.
The Sacred Spear I was crazily happy when I got my sword Reinhardt, but after this video I want the Mage Reinhardt too. I want to join the Reinhardt hype train!

Reinhardt is love and life. And now that he's in the 3* pool, one thing really is clear.
Magic is for everyone.
Despite how annoying his to face in Arena, Reinhardt showcases the best possible outcome for unknown FE characters in FEH. He was essentially a mini boss in the least played FE game of them all and now he's one of the most popular characters in the FEH community. I want to see this phenomenon happen more often with other lesser known characters.

i just wanted to know how the hell Reinhardt got before leif, if had because "he have a sister" leif have too, almost everyone in Genealogy world have sister! And more Iconic like Ced for example(that is in Tharcia too) he was so obscure that he don't even feature in the "awakening nostalgia people" that had almost every other "camus archtype" i can remember at first... just why he came so sooner is my only complaint
(if somehow they make a Tharcia remake that protagonist is Reinhardt and not leif i would not be surprised)
Alguidrag o meio dragão Olwen was popular (3rd most popular Thracia character) so like Sanaki they were put to represent all games early on in FEH's lifespan. Sure they were planned before release but they had to know Olwen was popular and she has a brother, plus there was a lack of thunder cavalry units so there they go.

this almost made me tear up, it's such a beautiful tale of going from obscurity to almost being the face and well known/loved/hated character in the game
Then Laevatein came along.
I feel like “Magic is everything!” Is the “Roy’s our boy” of Fire Emblem Heroes.
It literally is. Half of Roy's fans don't even know what he's really like. Same with like 3/4 of Reinhardt's fans. Which even then, the people who played fe 5 most didn't find him that great as the feh fanbase does.
At this point, I feel like what Captain Falcon is to F-Zero, Reinhardt is to Thracia 776, in that he's much more well known than the game he's from as a result of surprise appearance and newfound popularity in Heroes, similar to how Captain Falcon became much more well known than his series due to Smash Bros.
Who is here after green Reinhardt was announced? We came a looooong way.

Many things have change since the beginning of the game a year ago: updates,skills inheritance, TT, dramas,memes, rise and falls of differents metas etc. And Reinhardt was always at the center of all of this. thats why he is so popular i think.

Whirlwhind1 If that ever happens do you think they’ll pull a Michalis and make him defy his canonical death to become an optional recruitable unit, because I wouldn’t put it out of the realm of possibility.
They would have to change so much about the game, because it's a "mess" and has a lot of "unfair" stuff. Also, doubt one character would push for a remake. I know you're probably just joking, but I've seen people have opinions like this and were serious.
Rogue Slushy I wasn’t implying he would push the remake himself just that if by some chance a remake ever did happen it would be a possibility they may go the redemption route with Reinhardt, maybe if you talked to him more than once or captured him instead of killing him. It wouldn’t be too far fetched from a story perspective either. I agree though. The game itself would need a lot of tweaking and fixes and to be less new player hostile.

He doesn't have a canonical death. You can legitimately finish the map without ever engaging him in battle or capture him and the game will never try to suggest he died.

It is amazing to see a nobody like Reinhardt became a somebody. I remember when the sibling bonding came around and I ended up getting him and how people were saying how bad he was until skill inheritance came and changed him for the better. Now many of us use The Reinhardt.
Reinhardt was never a nobody, you and a lot of others were ignorant nobodies who soon realized that this somebody can stack bodies.
Can we just talk about the fact that, 3 years later, even though he's not the bogeyman he used to be, he's STILL one of the better blue mage cavaliers in the game?

In a way, Reinhardt at his highest point was like Gale Wings Talonflame back in Gen 6. He had a few counters, but you basically had to run one of them or else you were done for against any team that had him.

Even though the game is only 1 year old there has been a lot of ups and downs, and this video reminded me about them and how things actually changed for the better in a lot of ways.
I hope you do more videos like this, like Takumi's fall from grace or other impactful changes across the game's history.

I’ve definitely toyed with the idea of talking about Takumi’s early dominance and why he fell so hard, while Hector continued to stay relevant. Definitely an interesting topic and they were both super strong when skill inheritance came out thanks to good old Vantage.

Something I'd like to note about the Ayra incident is that Ayra represented pay-to-win and cash-grab greed, whereas Reinhardt (available at 4*, powerful with cheap skill inheritance) was considered a more "F2P-friendly" hero; another reason why Reinhardt suddenly rose to popularity.
and now new players can get a free reinhardt from the hero's path rewards, pretty damn easily, assuming everyone gets the same rewards

I remember back in the day when my friend got a five star one, and I told him that he sucked because of his low spd. And now look where reinhardt is, one year in the meta. What a fun ride this was. And now hes back with the strongest brave sword in the game, and I luckily managed to snack myself one. And he also has an awesome voice actor.

When I pulled Reinhardt on his debut banner, I didn't really find anything special out of him, but was happy that I pulled a 5*. However, I slowly started to realize his power; he had replaced M!Robin on my core team. Once SI was released, I realized that my Reinhardt was +Atk. I had finally noticed the power that was in my hands from the very start of his appearance. After taking so much time out of my week to grab the QP seal, (Reinhardt and Tharja were my two go-to heroes in almost every PvE combat; Tharja would soon get replaced by Brave Lyn) the Reinhardt was fully complete. (Ignoring the fact that I had never pulled a Klein ever that time, I had sticken with Fury)
Thank you for this video, it made me realize how much dedication I had in this game that had not hindering anything like my studies, to-do drawings, etc.

This is great to watch in 2019 when we've all been given our government-issued emotional support Reinhardt.
this was a real trip down memory lane...
I especially remember when people were doing the banner analysis for the Sibling Bonds banner and said Reinhardt was a terrible unit due to his 18 speed... what a ride it's been

I think the most important part of reinhardt is the fact that he can appear on 3 or 4 star and is a very solid unit with little investment required. Even now with the paired units and tons of legendary units he remains a competitive one. He also got me to look into his original game which is nice.
Revisited the video 3 Years after release and what shall I say beyond "Magic is still everything"
No Legendary or Mythic Alt or a Duo but Resplendent. Still one of the greatest Threads in AR Defenses and still without a refine.
To Quote Akariss " This guy refuses to fall of". Kind of like Tom Brady if somebody here watches NFL.
And so Reinhardt becomes public enemy number one once again. But luckily Reinhardt is always there to stop Reinhardt.

I think I started playing this game about 6 to 8 months after FEH was launched- so this video is a very fascinating piece of the game's history for me that I was never a part of, but love learning about haha!
Also Reinhardt (and B!Lyn) got on my nerves so much, I built F!Robin. She's my number one, most invested, +10 unit now.
I love reinhardt even as a minor boss in thracia. He was amazing and his design is beautiful.

It's fun watching this video almost a year and a half later. As I write this, Dancer Reinhardt just released as a part of a banner featuring the most offensive-oriented dancers the game has seen. A flying dancer with a brave tome and slightly better offense than original Reinhardt! Although I don't think he'll be meta-defining like OG Rein was, he and Dancer Ishtar will be undeniably awful to face in Arena and AR. It's only a matter of time before we get a colorless tiny hand man to make a full Reinhardt emblem team. Can you imagine if he's a staff user with a turbo-charged brave tome effect?

The legend of the Reinhardt
I wasn’t subscribed at the time of this video’s original upload, but had it recommended to me today. Though it is not 4 years old, it is very informative and well documented as well as a fun trip down memory lane.
Even if he isn’t as useful anymore, it’s still common to see him used in places like Aether Raids and he can still be very useful in the game.
It’s pretty fascinating just how popular a character like Reinhardt has become despite being an enemy boss.
Played through Thracia for the first time this past year and I will say that he is generally as scary in that game as he was in Heroes though. I did however manage to capture him anyway.
if you do this again. you have to do one on Brave Lyn, the second half of the deathless arena run ender. ( other half being reindaddy)
this is a great video! i love learning about the history of heroes, especially because i only joined back in october of last year. being able to see the progress, and get minor jokes like "the reinhardt" makes me a bit happier. i'd love to see more videos like this!

This was a very interesting video. I've never seen your channel before, but I'm certain to stick around for more content like this. It's interesting that for only being out a year, the Feh meta has changed so much that Reinhardt is just one of the many characters who faced these kinds of ups and downs. Reinhardt was a nobody to me when he was first announced. I wanted him because he was a debonair looking mage, I like characters like that. I also liked that he had a sister, Olwen. I looked more into his story as he became a beloved member of my first real team. Such a tragic backstory, he is bro tier in my book.

Yui_Naruka I would actually love that. Maybe in a sidequest to get Reinhardt.
That wouldn't make a whole lot of sense plot-wise and would take away from Olwen's character and in a sense, Reinhardt's too. Sadly, seeing the recent addition of another Reinhardt, they might just do that because he got so popular that he cucked Finn out of the Thracia banner. That and memes.
I'm almost sure that when FE4 remake cames, he will appear as an enemy guarding Ishtar, maybe they will make him the strongest "non sacred blood" unit that will get destroyed by Larcei like everyone else
I actually had an idea for the FE4 remake. When you recruit leif in his chapter, if you complete some sort of side quest, you can also get Olwen with him. Then later on, if you recruited Olwen successfully she can recruit Reinhardt in a later chapter. He is too loved at this point to not give him a better role in the Jugdral games.
Nah... if he don't die he is not worth of puting in FE 4... the best way i think he would be.

Excellent vid as always. Rein has been one of my MVPs since I got him as my 2nd 5 star on the Sibling Bonds Banner. He had literally the worst IVs possible (+spd, -atk) but he still carried me in Arena and TT

Thank you for this!! I've never really played FEH myself, but your vid was super concise, entertaining, and easy to understand, even for an outsider like me. The whole Reinhardt phenomenon is absolutely fascinating and weirdly inspiring...almost makes me wish I played the game myself lol. My only comment is that sometimes you spoke a little quickly (for instance at 3:16... the "way higher" wasn't easy to hear), but that might just be because I'm not as familiar with the game lol.
Overall, this video was great...I was curious about the memes and you made it easy to understand the timeline of events. Nice work :)

Fantastic historical look at Reinhardt through his history in Heroes! It has been exciting to see him evolve as well of the community over time. If he still is relevant as the game draws, perhaps you could do a sequel to this and collab with Dire Thunder.
