@@Has7DCT I can only speak for the 95hp one, if you know that it's not a fast car and can adapt yourself into how a car is. Its a bunch of fun. The gearing is abit unusually long, 30kmh in 2nd and 50 in 3rd kinda story. But it's got the small enigne pep to do the work for city driving. I honestly like it more than the manual on the previous c200d.
@@Has7DCT You seem like a modding person, Friedrich Motorsports makes a sport muffler for it just for your info. Something which shoudln't be very loud but should give some character. I recommend always to do a testdrive of whatever you're looking for.
I have now taken delivery of a Kings Red Polo Style 94bhp manual. To add to your comments, I would say, overall I am very happy, the build quality is better than my Peugeot. The car is quiet and easy to drive but the gear change is very notchy. The clutch is gentle and Hill Assist works well, but I find the Lane Keeping Assist really annoying and have turned that off. I like the digital Climatronic controls but they take some working out and I still haven't worked out how to just demist the windscreen. The ride is nice (on 17in wheels) and I am averaging about 58mpg on mainly 'B' roads (car now done 500m). Everything works well but there is an annoying rattle behind the infotainment screen which I may have to get sorted. So far, although the Bluetooth takes calls OK it is refusing to download my contact list and, likewise, refuses to connect to Android Auto (will have to get salesman's help I think). Generally the digital dashboard Pro looks good and works well but I am still exploring the various information available although I prefer the 'classic dials'. I ordered various accessories (in February) including mudflaps, wind deflectors, spare wheel and rubber mats - to date, none of these have been delivered or fitted. Car was bought from Marshalls at Tunbridge Wells.
Halleluiah - a PROPER handbrake! All cars should have the combined disc and drum brakes on the back. When the brakes cool down the drum shrinks and holds tighter whereas disc brakes do the opposite which is why some people (who don't leave their car in gear) find it at the bottom of the hill they parked on! Electric handbrakes are the work of the devil!
I’ve got a 2018, 95 bhp turbo , very touchy at low speeds , good cornering but lots of roll , have to Rev the tits off but does over 120 in 4th, 5ths a overrun gear so obviously doesn’t gain much with the long ratios . Used to work for them , decent car but needs a 1.5 engine
I have the same exact one. It's really got a lot of body roll, but other than that all around it's a great car. I've moved with it, carried furniture, carried 7 people, I do a 1100km trip every month and it's super capable on the highway. The only other problem is that it is boring and has no power, but with the current fuel prices, I don't mind it at all
@@Luis-cr1tw i mean it feels ok but once you drive something with 130+hp your life changes. I tried out my roommates golf 7 and it really pulls compared to my polo. Not to mention how much easier it is to drive in city traffic and overtake long tractors with that extra power
I agree! This car is the ideal small car! But the engine is only drawback. The 1.0 litre 3 cylinder is too small, even with the turbo it’s still not quite enough. It needs a 1.4 or 1.5 option, that would make a difference.
i have an 2005 1.2 Polo and materials used for interior are pretty nice. I have an BMW 320 too 😎🥳 My Polo have 250k km and still working perfectly 👍 Good car for the city
This car is literally the same as the previous model except for front styling upgrades and digital infotainment in every trim I have a 19 plate VW polo r line with the same perks (if not more: park assist) as this new generation. Save yourself money and buy the previous model used with a good spec.
And their 2.0 TDI sounds like a chainsaw. Yeah, if you want a proper VW group engine, buy one from the Dieselgate era. Or the 1.9 TDI with the mechanical injection pump.
Sounds familiar… my mum had a golf 7.5, and it had a misfire issue at just 20k and 18 months. Fuel injectors and ECU needed fixing in the end. Took them 4 dealer visits. VWs ARE SO BAD!! And full of rattles.
My daughter has a polo 2020 reg it's underpowered especially on hills and too much up and down gears it's the 96hp turbo with manual, other than that it's a very nice car overall just needs the 110hp engine and 6 speed manual or auto our t-cross is much easier to drive but that does have the 110hp DSG.
It’s just the offbeat 3 cylinder sound have the 110 ps in T-Cross and it’s a belter. I’ve had a few engines misfire and imo Mat, it doesn’t sound like “brrrrrrr” that the little 3 cyls make!
Unlike the mk8, you get BUTTONS on the steering wheel, not those touch pads: thought Matt might like that. 😂 as someone who has a Mk4 polo I’ll probably be getting one of these next!
@@Has7DCT yea it is actually. You can pay extra for the touch button steering wheel. The standard option is the same wheel with buttons instead of touch.
Not all models get the upgraded headlights. My partner has just got the r-line and unless it is specced at factory it still gets the standard headlights
Thanks for a good review on the Mk6 Polo Style, I look forward to taking delivery of a four month old Polo Style shortly which is a better drive than my trusty Mk5 Polo Match having owned VW Polos for 25 years.
Good video but I had to skip the stupid reaction to the lack of seat belt runners when folding seats down. There’s a point when it just goes a bit far…
The odd thing is he’s actually praising the fact that Polo seat belts DO have guides when folding seats down, and screaming about other makes that DON’T have this facility!
A Golf will take 4 adults and luggage from London to the Alps in total comfort. A Polo will take 2 adults and their luggage from London to Dorset in moderate comfort. The boot will carry half a family shop. The extra space in the Golf class makes a huge amount of difference. These tiny cars are not a replacement for a proper 4-adulter.
Golf has maybe 20 liters bigger boot, yes it has more spacious cabin, but it still is a small car to carry 4 people and luggage for a week trip. Passat is made fot that.
For real. Watching Matt sit back there makes me question why anyone with passengers would buy this. You could get a slightly used car with better build quality and more space. I really dont see the point of this.
The voice control button is on the steering wheel.. you can even see it during Mat's rant at 7:22, right cluster on the steering wheel, top left. Click it to do VW Voice and hold it for Google Assistant/Siri if your smartphone is connected.
I bought a brand new Polo back in 2002, a 1.4 TDI in SE trim. A brilliant car, covered over 160k as it was just too good to sell, but when I did I only list £6k… cost £9,800 new and sold for £4k. Wish new cars where properly affordable, the equivalent today would be +£20k which is daft for a small car. Great cars though, I do love them 😊,
My mother is on her 2nd polo, first one new in 2014, and the second in 2018. She's old, and is increasingly reliant on things like grab handles above the doors to shift into position. The 2014 model had these, but the 2018 and now this new facelift do not appear to have them either ...... small details, but I'm surprised that VW have excluded these nowadays ..... along with the nice soft close VW boot badge that my sone has on his golf Mk5! Honda Jazz next time around.
I guess their sales data shows that old people almost exclusively buy SUVs these days. So no point in putting "old people features" into a non SUV. But it got young people features now like 3 Isofix equipped seats so they can make lots of babys 🤣🤣
In all of the driving videos, where it shows the front of the vehicle, it doesn’t appear to have the daytime driving light across the front, only under the light fixtures… what happened to the full length light you mentioned in your review?
I still think the 1.2tsi 110 bhp engine in the Mk5 polo was a lot better and smoother than these new 3 cylinder engines it’s a shame they stopped making them really plus you got a 6 speed in the manual aswell
Had the GTI since 2019 and just ordered the facelifted version. However, agree with other comments that the R line should have the 1.5 engine. The equivalent Audi A1 has a terrible interior.
I really hope VW India brings the new Polo to India because they've been selling the same car since 2011 just with slight tweaks over the years. Namely, engine, infotainment system and transmission. I've already own the Polo GTI with the 1.8 TSI and the Vento with the 1.6 TDI. Really looking forward for a new version.
@@youraveragejoe1 No man. Ford left India a couple weeks ago. It was very sad to see them do that. That’s why my dad really wants to sell his Ford Endeavour with the 3.2 diesel.
@@youraveragejoe1 I mean we do have a bunch of other hatches and stuff but their all either way too expensive because they’re CBUs or they’re just plain horrible. Like for example the Audi A3 is 30 lakh INR where’s something like an I20 or Polo is under 10 lakh INR.
I had two Mk4 Golfs and they're a great size. You're pretty close comparing the new polo to the Mk4 golf in terms of size; they're the same height, the Polo is 16 mm wider, and the Mk4 Golf 74mm longer.
The drum brakes in the rear are actually a good thing as discs in those kind of cars don't get used that often and start to rust so badly you will have to replace them. Or take the car for some emergency braking every now and then... This is a very common problem on Polo and Golfs.
@@Bogbogz and the rest I've got a Tiguan R on order, ordered july/August expected delivery was October, then eod December and now its expected June 2022 with no build date 🙈😱

@@2sweet2handle28 If I drive on the motorway, easily get 40-45mpg even sitting in the fast lane (highest I get is 48-50 with eco/cruising). In the city, I get anywhere between 20-33mpg (eco mode with stop/start on for 33, anything else and it drops). Its quite good on fuel I'd say overall, a full tank gets me 280 miles only city and around 450-480 miles only motorway. You only feel like you're fueling up often because it has a 40 litre fuel tank.

Hi Matt I recently bought a brand new VW Polo life tsi, but can't see the front/rear parking sensors. The manual says sensors are there but can't see it! Doesn't this model come with parking sensors?
Just rented one, though arguably in the basic version of 1.0 TSI manual, and it was rubbish. I am an ex owner of Polo the version of early 2000s which was arguably a great car and indeed one that made you doubt you would ever need to upgrade to Gold. Its 1400cc gasoline engine with a mere 75hp (though real ones were more close to 85 than 75) was more than enough and would propel the car, maybe not fast enough but satisfactorily. There was a 100hp version of the same engine and I drove it once, it was quite faster and more enjoyable. It was a neaty little car, practical and fun to drive even if the driving was not as good as of my brother's 206 Peugeot which excelled both inside the city as well as on the highway. But what happened them? Why this current Polo is so crappy? The handling was worse than the Polo of early 2000s. The feeling was of a cheap car. The alledged 95hp were not there anywhere to be seen or felt, the car was really struggling. And I have rented the 208, superb car, I have rented the Renault Clio, superb again, I have rented the KIA Rio, arguably in its GT version, and it was fun to drive. But the Polo? No. Not there up with the best. It looked and felt like a second rate car from the 90s. It could not compare to the early 2000s Polo for sure. Something happened at VW lately, there is no doubt about it. They have been wasting too much money on meaningless projects forgetting about what made great their firm.
Presumably it's a good car, and it'll no doubt sell by the shovel load, but parked beside a 208 it looks like it's been around for donkeys years. It's miles behind in design but it's everything the intended buyers will want.
Would love the spacious back seats and the driving comfort in my little orange Clio but overall I think Renault have it with the interior design, quality and character.
Bought a 2018 carat exclusive Polo for 17k with 22k km on it and it is a beauty imo. Love the older design better than the 2022 version. Quite rigid tho but not uncomfortable! Dsg box is a learning curve aswell. Love heated seats very much.
My last polo was a 2015 BlueGT which was a little pocket-rocket with 150 bhp. So much fun & economical too. However, this line up stinks & I won’t be buying one because the engines are just so gutless. I just specced the R-Line which is coming out over over 21k yet only has 95bhp!!? Wtf?

Also get the full Infortainment system, android auto is a must nowadays.
I'm also thinking to buy this thing. Do you recommend the 1.0 MPI with 80hp?
@@Has7DCT I recommend 95ps
Car was bought from Marshalls at Tunbridge Wells.
hi mate i have ordered mine in october 2021, but still havent recieved it. I also bought from marshall
Do you still have it
Halleluiah - a PROPER handbrake!
The only other problem is that it is boring and has no power, but with the current fuel prices, I don't mind it at all
it needs an 1.6tdi indeed!
@@bahenbihen 95 hp with no power? That is weird! But maybe cause they got heavier...
I'm certain that SA is the highest consumer of VW cars especially the Polo and Golf
Same in algeria
Honestly, now i think our 2016 polo 1.6 mpi isn't bad at all when i see the new models of polos
i have an 2005 1.2 Polo and materials used for interior are pretty nice. I have an BMW 320 too 😎🥳 My Polo have 250k km and still working perfectly 👍 Good car for the city
This car is literally the same as the previous model except for front styling upgrades and digital infotainment in every trim
I have a 19 plate VW polo r line with the same perks (if not more: park assist) as this new generation.
Save yourself money and buy the previous model used with a good spec.
"When you rev it (the engine) goes brrrrrr like it's basically misfiring." Give it time Matt, VW's love a good ping under load
And their 2.0 TDI sounds like a chainsaw. Yeah, if you want a proper VW group engine, buy one from the Dieselgate era. Or the 1.9 TDI with the mechanical injection pump.
ruclips.net/video/SpJh-fD5wF4/видео.html
The Polo GTI has touch pads on the buttons tho as it has the same steering wheel as the golf 8 gti
@@WaseemKhan-iu4bh They should've make it optional, like Technology Pack or something
@@Has7DCT yea it is actually. You can pay extra for the touch button steering wheel. The standard option is the same wheel with buttons instead of touch.

Cry some more
The odd thing is he’s actually praising the fact that Polo seat belts DO have guides when folding seats down, and screaming about other makes that DON’T have this facility!
In Australia, we get a 1.0 3 Cyl Turbo making 115hp on every model except the entry and a 6sp manual/7sp automatic.
And obviously the GTI gets a different engine.
We got gibbed on the halogen headlights though. It would have been nice to at least get LEDs as an optional extra.
I wouldn't want to be in the back of a Golf from London to the Alps.
@@brulaapgaapmeester8052 nobody hopes for that hahahaha

Check the crash test results for a honda jazz. Volkswagen engineers a lot more safety in their cars.

Yeah. I was wondering the same thing
I still think the 1.2tsi 110 bhp engine in the Mk5 polo was a lot better and smoother than these new 3 cylinder engines it’s a shame they stopped making them really plus you got a 6 speed in the manual aswell
With an engine like 1.0 - 3 cylinder, is it worth it? I’ve heard that it’s not a trustworthy engine
Yes 3 cylinder are rough
Had the GTI since 2019 and just ordered the facelifted version. However, agree with other comments that the R line should have the 1.5 engine. The equivalent Audi A1 has a terrible interior.
but a1 has 1,5 and better interior
Even though this isn't a performance car, it would be cool to see the 0-60 time vs what is claimed
It's so big it might as well be a golf
I agree. It's how big a hatchback should be. The Golf is too big and expensive for what it is.
These Polo's are now bigger than a mk4 Golf

I really hope VW India brings the new Polo to India because they've been selling the same car since 2011 just with slight tweaks over the years. Namely, engine, infotainment system and transmission. I've already own the Polo GTI with the 1.8 TSI and the Vento with the 1.6 TDI. Really looking forward for a new version.

top quality video! thank you Matt and Carwow team. Happy holidays!
The drum brakes in the rear are actually a good thing as discs in those kind of cars don't get used that often and start to rust so badly you will have to replace them. Or take the car for some emergency braking every now and then... This is a very common problem on Polo and Golfs.

*in addition to
Just rented one, though arguably in the basic version of 1.0 TSI manual, and it was rubbish.
Much prefer the old design, had one myself!
I have the 2016 model in Mayan Blue, I absolutely love it to bits, such a brilliant car. And I agree the Mk6 is better than this model

Sometimes I watch these in bed as they help me sleep. Woke up to an absolute nightmare at 9:13 🥲
Presumably it's a good car, and it'll no doubt sell by the shovel load, but parked beside a 208 it looks like it's been around for donkeys years. It's miles behind in design but it's everything the intended buyers will want.
I just think the 208 looks the same as the vauxhall corsa with different lights.
