    Your channel is so underrated. I think you're easily one of the better teachers on YT. To me you're a vast source of knowledge. You very aptly explain things related to your designs, stitches, yarn and hooks. I've watched your vids throughout my (short) crochet journey and was always left in awe. Recently I started on your Cuddle cardigan for my daughter. Thank you for being here!

    Thank you for another great tutorial. Do you have information or a tutorial on how to add sleeves to your sleeveless tops? I'd love to make more of your tops but want sleeves. Thank you 😊

    • @YayForYarn
      @YayForYarn  9 месяцев назад

      Hi. I don't have a tutorial on that, but this top would be pretty easy to add sleeves to since it is worked sideways. After you sew the side seams and shoulder seams together, you could join your yarn at the underarm, crochet around the armhole, and join at the beginning of the round you just made. You could then continue to work in rounds around this opening, turning the work at the beginning of each round, to add length to the sleeve until it is long enough for your preference. On this top, I would suggest using back-loop-only half-double crochet to do the sleeves so that it will blend together nicely, but you could use a different stitch if you prefer. I hope this helps!

    What a beautiful pattern and you explain everything so well. I would like to make a more cropped version so I would have to modify the sections correct?

    • @YayForYarn
      @YayForYarn  5 лет назад

      Hi! You wouldn't need to modify the neck, just the half-double crochet parts below. Decide how many half-double crochets you want to remove from the length, and subtract that number from the half-double crochets in each row. The double crochets in each row on the front will be the same. I hope this helps!

    This is really cute! I love that Jean yarn. I might actually have to make this. I usually make cardigans and shawls but I love this. I've been racking my brain to try and figure out the best way to try something different on a cardigan. You know how they are all pretty much straight across on the bottom in the back? I would like to have one rounded in the back without making a round circular cardigan. I wonder if I made the back like the sole of a baby bootie, only round on one end, if that pattern would look weird. Or if I should just start increasing on the one end.

    • @YayForYarn
      @YayForYarn  5 лет назад +2

      Hi Missi! If you are making a cardigan with vertical rows, then I think the easiest way to round the hem would be to increase stitches at the hem edge of the piece, and then gradually decrease for the other side of the rounded edge. I hope this helps!

    • @YayForYarn
      @YayForYarn  5 лет назад +3

      Hi! Yes, you can add sleeves to this sweater. I would suggest making the sleeves from this pattern: ruclips.net/video/vcRh10cVKKs/видео.html After you make the front and back from this sweater, you may need to change your hook size to match the gauge from the sleeves on the other sweater. The gauge is slightly different between the two patterns. I hope this helps!

    • @YayForYarn
      @YayForYarn  6 месяцев назад +1

      The fabric with the back-loop-only half-double crochet stitch is completely reversible, so there isn't really a right side or a wrong side to the fabric. I hope this helps!

    What does ( You should have - (-, -, -, -, -, 94, 96, 96). Mean in the cowl neck pattern?
    I’m a newbie knitter and I don’t understand the dashes in the pattern Thank yoy

    • @YayForYarn
      @YayForYarn  Год назад

      Hi! When a dash “-” is given instead of a number, it is a placeholder. This is shown when a row does not apply to all sizes. Because some sizes do not work that row, the dash “-” is shown for those sizes instead of a number. So when the pattern says to "stop here" for certain sizes and skip to another section of the instructions, then the section of instructions that does not apply to those sizes gives dashes instead of numbers for those sizes. Does that make sense? I hope this helps!

    I love this. Do you think Red Heart Unforgettable Waves in Aurora would work for this top?

    • @YayForYarn
      @YayForYarn  5 лет назад

      Hi! That is not a yarn I have used before, but going by the photos, it may or may not work. If you want to wear the top during the summer, that yarn may not be suitable. It looks rather fuzzy, and fuzzy yarns tend to trap body heat and not breathe well. If you want to wear it in the winter, this shouldn't be a problem. As for the thick-and-thin texture, that would depend on your personal preference. If some sections of the yarn are very thin, there might be small sections of the fabric that end up being a little see-through. If you like the look of the fabric crocheted in that yarn, and you want to wear it during the fall or winter, then it could work. However, for a spring and summer top, I would not recommend a yarn like that. I hope this helps!

      Hi. Yes, you could add sleeves if you like. I would recommend using the instructions for these sleeves ruclips.net/video/vcRh10cVKKs/видео.html If you were to do that, you would need to match gauge for the Cowl Neck Tee pattern on the front and back, and match the gauge for the sleeve pattern separately. So you would likely need to use a different hook size on the sleeves to match the gauge given in that pattern, but it could be done. I hope this helps!

    Can I use any size 4 weight yarn if I want to?

    • @YayForYarn
      @YayForYarn  4 года назад +1

      Hi Pamela! Yes, you can use any #4 worsted weight yarn you like. However, if you plan to wear during warmer months of the year, I recommend a yarn with little to no surface fuzz. This allows the fabric to breathe better. I hope this helps!

      Hi! This yarn is Lion Brand Jeans (review here: ruclips.net/video/BiDtKdQWgM4/видео.html ). I bought mine at JoAnn's, but you can also get it at Michael's, or LoveCrafts if you want to buy online. I hope this helps!

    how can i make it the most drap to create a wide scoop neck?

    • @YayForYarn
      @YayForYarn  4 года назад

      Hi Teresa. If you want the neck to drape more, you'll likely need to alter the pattern. You might try working only the double crochets in the pattern with a larger hook, which would add drape to the cowl. You'll also want to block the finished piece well for maximum drape. I hope this helps!

    This is really cute. But the white lettering is impossible to read.

      Hi! Sorry about that. I just put a little note on the screen, apologizing for the audio quality in that section. I lost my good-quality audio for that part of the video, and I had to use my lower-quality back up audio. The text was supposed to be grey, but I guess it didn't come out the same color as in my editing program. You didn't miss any important info, though. :)

    😭😭 edges up and bottom is going diagonal or slant..HELP

    • @YayForYarn
      @YayForYarn  4 года назад

      Hi. If your edges are slanting, you're probably accidentally adding or skipping a stitch at the edge. This video can help with that: ruclips.net/video/I40n0q9urk4/видео.html I hope this helps!

    Ihave never hward of "blocking" what does that mean

    • @YayForYarn
      @YayForYarn  5 лет назад

      Hi! Blocking is a way of making the finished fabric look and feel its best. The method will differ based on the fiber content of your yarn. I have a video on blocking here: ruclips.net/video/imZ6xIQs79k/видео.html I hope this helps!
