In Australia it's illegal to do electrical connections such as the one you showed in this video unless you're a qualified or certified electrician. Even more important if it connected to the Grid.
Good work none-the-less friend
Electrifying video Nathan, a real shocker. Thumbs up.
Nathan, you delivered an excellent presentation for Anker. They should be smiling.👍
I hope so!
Hey Nathan, I have two ideas for future content: I'd be interested in seeing how long the backup power will last under average use once you have all the circuits wired in your shop, and I would also like to see your logic for which circuits you put on the Anker unit and about how much backup time you'd have when you install it in your house.
Nice to see this Nathan. I bought an F3800 through Anker's Kickstarter late last year and love it. I have an underpowered shop (currently garage, pole barn soon) and am using this for my woodworking hobby. I run my Onefinity CNC from it and it did great on one of the coldest days of the year (-8 F on 01/14/2024). Just with the CNC controller, X/Y/Z servos and a Makita palm router, I can get 12 hours runtime. I have a pair of 400W solar panels that I am building a rack for this weekend that will add even more runtime.
Thanks for sharing with us Nathan, that is an awesome set up you have there and correctly installed will give you peace of mind knowing the safety for everyone involved during a power outage. Thanks to ANKER for sharing their product with you. Fred.
While I understand you need to make paid advertisements for sponsors, this is a ridiculous solution. If you need true back up power to run your operation, a small battery is the height of stupidity and you do your viewers a disservice by recommending it. If your ability to make a living requires enough power to run 240C high amp equipment you should have a sufficiently rated generator, running on propane, and a 1,000+ gallon propane tank.
It should also have an automated transfer switch versus a person having to go outside during a severe storm. I speak from experience.
Nathan, love your content ... especially the flatpicking on the backing tracks. Keep 'em coming.
Your videos are informative and entertaining with a great variety of topics. Love to hear from you how you can tell a tree will have Birds Eye or other types of figure. Thank you for sharing. Take care! 👍🏻
Good job reminding us about load balancing. I've seen a few generators damaged by unbalanced installs.
Nathan looks like 👍 you’re not going to be without power for running things in the wood shop 😮😊❤
Good on you for trying new tech and pioneering future farming. As everything that keeps breaking down, keeps breaking down, you are ready. Knowledge and information awareness is power. Thanks.
Nice unit hookup Nathan. Stay safe.
I've always enjoyed RUclips product reviews. You made this one excellent like all your other videos.
I appreciate that!
Nice set-up.
Another way to wire in an alternative source is to feed it into a 220 circuit next to or below the main breaker with a mechanical interlock that prevents the main breaker and alternative source breaker from both being turned on at the same time. This is the set-up we have in our house that allows us to power any circuit during an outage, within the limits of the alternative source.
Thanks Nathan. That looks like a good setup. 👍❤️
No problem 👍
Looks like a good thing to have.
I have always liked Anker. They have a long history of reliability. Glad to see Anker has solar panels & this transfer switch available.
Love the channel, keep it up.
Appreciate it!
Have you ever used a metal detector to check for the presence of metal. They will pick up metal as large as a BB. Iron is particularly easy to detect up to a foot or two within the log.
Thanks, Nathan
Great video!
Thanks!
This really caught my attention. I need something that will power mainly my well pump, refrigerators and freezer when power goes out. Would be nice to power heat pump too, but I can manage without it (I think). I being wired in to switch over is really handy, instead of having to move the unit around to plug individual items into the unit. Looking forward to seeing how it works in your house. Keep advised.
I love infomercials!
stick around,
Good morning from a stormy KY.
Very useful!
Glad you think so!
Those cables going in and out of that panel need to be in clamps. That's a fire just waiting to start.
Good morning from New Jersey
Morning!
I need to get one
81 in Missouri today , unbelievable
Nathan, I believe every other breaker is on each 110v circuit. At least, that is how my home breaker panel works.
Looking at the #1s and #2s, across the bottom of the panel, I think every other breaker on the switch box is the A-leg and B-leg. The A/B is a 240 breaker and so is the C/D breaker. So the meters are reading all the #1s and all the #2s.
Morning Nathan, Good info on the "Off Grid Power System" Have thought about one mainly to keep well pump operating, I imagine well pump and Air Conditioner draws the most power starting up, will this system handle that? Missed seeing the Live Shows will you have them again. John Toccoa GA
Great video
Thanks!
Nice unit
Sure is
MM77 Approved 👍🏼👍🏼
Hey Nathan are you licensed to work on electrical? In Australia only a licensed electrician could install something like that.
Shouldn't the blue plug mount through the hole in the switch panel with the heads of the screws on the outside of the panel instead of having the screw ends facing you? That way the stress is on the blue plastic and not the screws. Nice summary video of the installation.
That must be an automatic transfer switch. The manual ones I'm used to have a lever that almost require two hands to throw.
Do you plan to build a solar array to power up that unit? If so, where will you put it?
Check your local electrical regs because BX conduit is regulated for short runs typically under 6 feet.
BX can be run any distance. FMC, which he used to connect the transfer switch to the panel, can only be used 6’ or less.
You have the OCD electricians squirming with your BX monster 🤪
Great video, thank you! Can you help identify best solar panels to use with this unit besides the portable ones due to the limited 60V solar input? On some reviews I’ve seen they using the F3800 unit with 3 panels in parallel that are LG 365W each. 47.7VOC, 9.39Imp total of 28.17 amps potential using two 3 panel strings to connect of the F3800. Any thoughts if these will work and your panel recommendations?
I haven’t hooked mine to solar yet.
Shouldn’t the plug been installed from the front?
Do you know if it can run home AC?
What is the cost to the general consumer for this system?
My concern is what is the life expectancy of a solar system? It is the expectancy that concern that with cost of installation pay out on investment...
I think our solar system has been operational for a couple billion years. 😂
Nathan, where did you go ro collage and what was your area of study?
ETSU, Criminal Justice and History Major,
Price? I guess they want us to go to the website
What is the life span of the battery in the generator
He mentioned that in the video. 10 years assuming you fully depleted and recharged the unit daily.
👍
Were you required to have a permit to install that system?
nope,
You are still on GRID, as long as that battery in being charged ON GRID.
pretty sure I use solar panels which I said in the video to re charge the Anker,
What country is this system made in. ?
Somewhere on planet earth
@@OutoftheWoods0623 u mean in China?
@@jakezgab8576 nope a basement in a workshop in Siberia
Or maybe China, same place your phone was made.
@@OutoftheWoods0623 Siberia China 👍🏻😳
Looks like you'll be getting an electric vehicle in the future. After sloar panels, of course.
If your phone can control your off-grid system, it can be hacked
next time you need some electrical work you give me a shout and I'll come down there for fried baloney sandwiches
Deal
yeah these things are cool, especially the Ecoflow Ultra, but in reality you need a gas, diesel, or propane generator for any long term needs...more than a day a two. Get a duel fuel, run it on propane, and you won't have the problem of gas sitting for a long time. Imagine, you buy a predator, Westinghouse, or champion 12500 duel fuel for 1500 max. Done. These power stations are just a shiny object. Good for Van Life, I own two Ecoflows, but they are not serious for home backup. unless you want to be cool, and have batteries and solar, sponsored. almost all of these are from people who are somehow benifiitng.
Yet another solar system.......
While I understand you need to make paid advertisements as a source of revenue, this is a ridiculous solution. I just need something to run the lights, not my whole operation, I never said I was going to run my operation with this system. That would be foolish and even more foolish for someone to assume that from this video. I speak from experience with keyboard commandos,
@OutoftheWoods0623
Nathan:
Not arguing just to argue, but if all you needed was some light when the power went out, wouldn't a couple of LED headlamps dome the trick versus something costing thousands? The video made it seem like you were trying to accomplish much more.
No need to reply -- perhaps I was confused as your videos are always very practical.
👍
