The commentator was butt-hurt when the Balkan and Scandinavian countries voted for each other but didn't say anything when U.K got points from Malta and Ireland, the hypocrisy...
Exactly! The Balkan is a fascinating region but looking at Eurovision, the people and juries, but mostly the people, seem to show that they care about each other. Even Albanian televotes gave 3 points to Serbia's In Corpore Sano.
she clearly won at a time when nationalism, racism and open hatred between countries were at their highest, which is that much more proof that this song won PURELY for being so absolutely amazing, and not because of politics. You do realize that jury votes practically also by the blocks, right? And the juries can be and, in a fact, were manipulated in a couple of Eurosong contests.
@@justinian-the-great How can you compare whatever alleged jury shenanigans take place to the ridiculous neighbor voting? Even we in Iceland weren't exempt from that, I hated that we kept giving Denmark 12 points no matter how bad their entries were. It's way better the way it is now, with 50/50, we get the best of both worlds.
@@Euroviking86 I can compare because it is manipulation with jury. Personally, I don't see problems with neighbor's votes. I mean if your first neighbor candidates for being president would you vote for him? Probably you would. The problem that Westerners have with neighbor votes is that it doesn't happen in Western Europe. Why? Because simply they have no good relations with their neighbors. The truth is that Britain, for example, isn't loved by anyone of it's neighbors and more or less from anyone from the entire continent. Meanwhile the Eastern Europe developed that concept of friendship between nations, something that West can never understand. Western countries simply do not have friends. And by that I don't mean political friends. If you are, again for example, British or German and you go to another country you won't be as nearly as welcomed as, for example, Serbian who goes to Russia. Western nations simply have that lack of feeling for friendship as Easterners, especially Slavs, have. So let friends vote for friends and you vote for whoever you want to vote.
@@Euroviking86 Westerners understand it? Really? So then, when Eastern European country won because of the votes from the West? Not to mention that Eastern countries were blocked from participating until fall of the communism in 90's. That much about Western understanding of Eurovision as non-political contest.
The ex yougoslav countries voting for serbia in this case wasnt what you may think at all! In the mid to late 90s we were all at war with each other! Them giving us (serbia) points was unbelievable at this time exactly FOR political reasons, i expected all ex yugoslav countries to vote against each other but we remained united at eurovision because we like each others songs which brought us closer together. One of the main reasons why ex yugoslav countries voted for molitva, besides it being a chilling amazing song, is because they understood the lyrics. Most ex yu languages are either the same with some different words or very very similar. Also the culture is quite similar, the sense of humor, taste for art...which is why we continue to like each others songs! Its not for political reasons, its just logical
I am fascinated by this commentator. It's so bad it almost seems like a joke. Neighbor voting is annoying, sure, but almost every country gave points to Serbia? Including 12 from Finland, Switzerland, and other non-neighbors. But it's not just Serbia, he's so condescending about every body. I really hope this guy didn't keep his job for long.
This was the first and last time when I wasted my money to a vote. Trust me when I voted I didn't give the sh*t of political life as I was young. I gave my vote to Serbia because that song was the best. Yes I'm from Hungary.

It is not Serbia's fault that Western European countries don't take Eurovision seriously and don't send their biggest stars, like Eastern European countries do.
