Looking back the PSP was such a beast
so was the vita the switch was mediocre compared to Sonys handhelds. It is such a shame Sony left the market because if they had stayed in the game it would be entirely different today.
@@TheFrogInYourClosetWatchingYou sony marketing is the reason vita failed so bad in the west/global. They make vita like "controller" to use it to play ps4 game. Meanwhile japan got soo many bangger vita game.
Hope they come back because switch imo lack game that normally show in playstation device.

Soul Calibur on the PSP is also worth mentioning because of the amazing game play, some of the best in game music for a fighting game, and a solid 60 frames per second. Definitely the best weapon based fighting game on the PSP.
Also Kratos.
"Amazing Game Play" is not correct though, having the worst gameplay of all Soulcalibur games right next to Soulcalibur 4.

My favourite psp game of all time is MGS peace walker. I'll give 10/10 for its gameplay, sound and graphics

I know this is usually ignored after it was rereleased on the PS4, but Final Fantasy Type-0 deserves a spot up there. The English fan translation is hard to find these days admittedly, but that shouldn't discount or detract from how incredible the game was graphically. To me it's still my favorite entry in the entire series.
For anyone looking for a game to blow you away on PSP Type-0 is it.

I think purely from a graphics standpoint, Type-0 might actually have outdone Crisis Core. There was also Dissidia and 012, but I can understand leaving those out since they are quite popular anyway and Squenix just has so many visually impressive games.
I still remember me playing Wolverine, COD, Need For Speed, UFC Undisputed, Spiderman 3, God of War Ghost of Sparta, Patapon, Tekken, Smackdown Vs. Raw and Midnight Club LA Remix.
Such a huge fan of the PSP and all the cool physical releases there are for this system. So many great imports from Japan as well!! Thanks brother.

Resistance is gold. The water effects blow my mind when I bought this game back then. Still own the collectors edition can see more on my insta :) great game even with only one analog stick, it never bothered me ☺️

Awesome video and list man. All amazing games. There are so many overlooked psp games. I haven’t been able to put down my psp go lately. Wish Sony would release a new handheld, but I don’t think it’ll happen anytime soon.
PSP is a great handheld unit with a ton of fantastic games I love my PSP
The PSP and Vita were both really dope. Same with 3DS, man I'm gonna miss the age of really cool little handhelds, switch is so big that it feels like a fat tablet more so than a gameboy advance type thing and it loses some of it's magic for that reason.
Try the lite
I still prefer the 3ds and the vita/PSP over my switch , because they are truly handheld consoles
The switch is not a handheld its a portable console. You are looking for the wrong thing in the switch if you want a pocketable handheld game system. But none the less the switch lite is very comfortable to hold.
The switch is doodoo. It's massive, and the lite is not a ton better.
Resistance retribution online was so much fun back in the day.
I bet it was fun. Unfortunately, I never got a chance to try it out although I played the hell out of Resistance 1 and 2’s multiplayer back in the day. Good times.
So hyped for this I been playing my psp A ton lately
I don't know how true this was, but I remember hearing that the God Of War devs had to seek permission to have the PSP run slightly overclocked to be able to play the game. God Of War is litterally the handheld's max performance and is the benchmark to use on the platform.
I run my psp 1000 on 333/166 and it runs great every game

Excellent vid. I'm a big time PSP fan boy and collector. Glad that overlooked games like LA Remix, Obscure the Aftermath and the 3rd Birthday were all included.
I think, although requires the fan made English patch, Type 0 is overall a more graphically impressive game than Crisis Core. But definitely both lovely.

cause it had good/great ports of AAA games+exclusives like AC, NFS, GT, Tekken, MGS, Fight night, MK, SF, tomb raider, manhunt, GTA, Def jam, Shin budokai, Soul calibur, GOW, UFC, WWE and many more

Manhunt 2 on PSP Steel Impress me even today
Love Tekken 5 DR on psp, they fix a lot of issues from the previous version and add 2 more characters. Eddy is now on char select screen and not just a pallet swap for Christie like in the ps2 version. Tekken 6 looks good on psp as well

Resistance on psp is what I’d consider a third person shooter. The console ones are first person, how good was part 3?! I wish that series would make a comeback.
Imo, 3 sucked compared to the rest. I still enjoyed it, but wasnt the same feel after Resistance 2.

I think they meant fps and over the shoulder games as they play almost exactly the same and suffer the same limitations on psp
Resistance Retribution is a 3rd person shooter. 3 was the best game in the series to me and a top 3 PS3 exclusive.
All of the resistance games were amazing except burning skies on the vita. 1,2,3 ,and retribution are all fun. Retribution is extra fun if played on the vita with 2nd thumb stick

I totally agree with your list although I think it needs a part two. People in the comments reminded me of some games I have on my PSP Aswell that are absolutely stunning with my personal favorite being Dragonball Z Tenkaichi Tag Team. The effects of the beams and animation during the fights are quite stunning aswell as the character models.

I just bought my first PSP and theese videos are great way for me to learn which game are Wirth for the system.
Tekken 5 is such a great fighting game and I'm still sad that we never got a Tekken game for the Nintendo Switch!
Monster hunter portable 3rd was also visually impressive at that time

A good list as far as 3D rendered games go. The Syphon Filter games, Logan's Shadow and Dark Mirror, are conspicuously absent though. . .
Obscure I remember this game. :) Silent hill shattered memories has good graphics too. And those creepy chasers I don't remember what they are called but that sound when you are being chase is creepy specially when your on headphones.

I just got a psp 3000 monster hunter portable 3rd edition this year. I only had nintendo handheld when younger so been grabbing a lot of psp games and going through them finally when im almost 30 😂 it's a pretty cool system.

I think this is the best time for Sony PSP to return. Sony has has many games and lots of exclusive games. And now that the processor and graphics capability is good already that you can play AAA games without using discrete graphics card on PC, it can easily apply to PSP handheld + Oled screen. wow

I'm waiting for the IPS screen upgrade for my PSP 1000. As someone who's never owned a newer model It should make my games look even better.

Still playing my psp on nov 2022, many great game library on psp
Even back in 2006 we knew the PSP was way ahead of its time. It's not like the Switch today, where the hardware was already dated on release.
Pursuit force series are graphically empress I recommend it.
Please make an English Patched PSP Games next thanks!

I could easily give a lot of other graphically impressive PSP games out there but seeing how you put that Tekken 5 instead of Tekken 6 gives me the impression that you're not an avid PSP gamer at all lol
He also left out Tales of the World Radiant Mythology and Silent Hill Shattered Memories which are some of the best ports on the system.

Yes the features maybe lacking compared to today's consoles. But to think, you have a DualShock, a TV/Monitor, a PS/PS2, and a Graphic Card all in one. PSP was a monster of a console to exist in early 2000's.
Even a 2GB ROM is having a hard time keeping up with PPSSPP emulator. I know it's pretty low, but still.
Im quite happy that Obscure were included in this list ,ironically Obscure have a nice graphic in gameplay, weird odd, rushed quality when in Cutscene.
Final Fantasy Type 0 is a masterpiece, plays wonderfully and graphicaly impressive, I understand if it is not included because you need an english translation patch in order to play it. Maybe in a future Japan only video.

I'll die on the "psp is the greatest handheld gaming device ever" hill whenever. The console had SO many hidden gems, and innovative stuff for a handheld in 05... Resistance: Retribution had online multiplayer WITH VOICE CHAT,MGS portable ops and peace walker brought a handheld metal gear experience that was almost second to none, final fantasy crisis core told the story of zack, and backstorys of characters before FF7, God of war chains of Olympus and ghost of sparta brought console like graphics to a small screen in such a way, it seemed like magic...
Patapon, MK Unchained, Monster Hunter, WTF (work time fun), tony hawk underground 2, death jr, infected, GTA liberty city stories and vice city stories, Tekken, Ratchet and Clank, Soul Calibur, Coded Arms, The Warriors... Not to mention the sick ports it got that were almost 1 to 1 ports like battlefront 2, prince of persia revelations (warrior within), lego star wars, tekken 5, star wars the force unleashed, dante's inferno, persona 3 (with added female protagonist)...
The OG psp was, and still is, a beast
Crisis Core , GOW, Dark mirror, kill Zone are my favorite psp games of all time

Can someone explain to me why the video includes Obscure The Aftermath but not either of the PSP Silent Hills? (Especially Shattered Memories, which has real time shadows for every single thing you point your flashlight at, and there are actually puzzles that make use of it.)

Fortunately it can run well on many portable devices by now, from phones to handheld widows devices.
Soul caliber is also a very beautiful game
even though it missed the second analogic stick, PSP was an incredible device.

Midnight club la remix is basically midnight club 2 on the ps2 without the Paris stage. Street supremacy is a good looking racing game too
Tekken 5 looks good but you should've gone with Tekken 6. It's surreal how good that game looks. The character models are great, lighting is great, the arenas are really detailed.
Also, a suggestion for a future video (in case you haven't covered it yet): Juiced 2. Simply put, it looks like a PS2 game. It runs great too, can't say for certain whether it hits it, but it does target 60fps.
I wish the HD Edition of Peace Walker was Ported to PSVITA for not only for the advanced Controls, but for the Boosted Frame-Rate and Higher Resolution. 😑
silent hill origins was epic for me
Birth By Sleep was so impressive it had to almost kill your PSP to run. Even installing the largest amount of data the loading times were insane. I still think it's the second best Kingdom Hearts though, huge fan of the series.
I mean the thing with Birth By Sleep is it offered so many options to help customise the menu's and presentation that battery drain never really needed to be an issue. It's got the best combat in the series though at least in terms of just how much you can do.
@@Akechi_The_Phantom_Detective Yeah, I'm absolutely in love with it. I ran to the shops to get the Special Edition version and I'm still amazed with it. I do play on the PS4 version though, definitely made it more accessible just to have the full experience. I was always amazed just how big it was for PSP.

Shadow of destiny should have been mentioned as well since its graphics are impressive not to mention that its a hidden gem
