PSP is such an amazing console.
Totally agree man, still finding new games to this day!
Psp was my first true console which I my own, not shared by anyone. Though I prefer 3ds and switch now, I will always have a soft spot for it
Not so much, because there's not:
1) not any Dragon Quest games (but NDS have much games)
2) not good Castlevania games (with Metroidvania level design), except one linear Castlevania
3) I think there's not any Fire Emblem games
4) not any Rune Factory game (or clone? with farm and dungeons and romance)
PS: but I still like PSP

Valkyrie Profile is my favorite RPG and one of my all time favorite games ever. Such an amazing peace.
I tell anyone I meet to try that game it made me realize graphics are not everything that game is 30 years old and holds up great

Always gonna give an upvote for mention of Brave Story. It left a lasting impression on me for years and is just a fun comfy RPG. Tales of Eternia is amazing too & i feel like it doesnt get a lot of love since most Tales fans only play the 3d games, its really really good and well worth a play. Great list as always...time to bust out the Vita again I guess.
Key of Heaven / Kingdom of Paradise was my favorite game on psp, shame the 2nd one never got localized or anything but it was nice to see on the list.

Was great at the time. And had one of the best, now nostalgic, cutscenes on the system when the hidden castle is revealed. lol Cool game.

Valkyrie profile.. man I remember when I first tried this, bought it day one and was so confusing. Learned how to play and what the system was and it became one of my all time favourite rpgs. Lezard Valeth was amazing.
Mannnnnnn. This will forever be my top 10 RPGs of all time. I remember I played that game all summer of 2007 . And I was the same way. It confused me at first.

Growlanser Wayfarer of Time is the one that broke my R1 button due to constantly holding it. I wish all the growlansers are playable this day.

woahhh this is great sir!!!!!!!!.... key of heaven looks good and hack/slash system i will try to download it... some said wild arms xf is the black sheep of the family...... i tried popolocrois once but maybe i'll give it a chance again together with xf after i beat final fantasy 3....your lists are good....they are really good RPG... Was hoping Brave Story and Popolocrois Saga would be on here.
Low key, Brave Story was the bench mark for me for graphics on the system for rpgs. The difficulty could've been a little higher, but everything else from the story to the characters, world, and combat were great.
Popolocrois is basically the same breakdown minus the wow graphics.
Yes! Brave Story is an rpg I will never forget. I’m actually planning on playing it again on my Steam Deck!

Tales of eternia is amazing thanks for helping to repopularize it hopefully it gets a remaster like syphonia but you for phantom brave the most underrated rpg

I cant believe I've never herd of Growlaner. I definitely will have to check that one out. Luckily I have a modded PSP so I wont have to look hard to find it. PSP is definitely my fav. handheld even over Vita.

That was my first game on psp and I remember getting it the day it game out cause I happens to get a psp to the day a great memory of my childhood
Please make a top 10 list for non rpg as it will give a good palette cleanser after long rpg binge.

No Valkyria Chronicles 2 or 3? Both are amazing games. 3 has an English patched rom easily available online (never released outside Japan). Probably my favorite strategy rpgs on the psp

hey sir/someone can you suggest me , i was play crisis core ff but its not playable on android emulator hard to use R1 , i really confused tto choice one ( i dont have any space in my phone need 1 game to focus)

3rd Birthday really pushed psp hardware to a another level.
It genuinely looked like a PS2 game at points!

@@Azure9577 ff type 0 was originally for psp but it was never translated that's why it was remastered on ps4. Only the cut scenes were really great looking because of the psp had a small screen even ps1 games looked a bit enhanced in psp.

Parasite eve 3 is by far the best RPG in the second list !
Such a great rpg, I can understand why many didn’t get on with it due to it being a massive change to the previous ones. But I thought it was awesome none the less!

Surprisingly, I haven’t heard of most of these. A few of them never released in the US. Do you live in Europe or you imported these?
I’m from Europe Dustpal yeah. Key of Heaven was known as Kingdom of Paradise in the US if that is one you were thinking of mate.
That Video Games Show Thanks!!! That was one of them that I was trying to locate. Europe also got Tales of Eternia on the PSP. In the US, we never got the PSP port and it was called Tales of Destiny 2 on the PS1. So I either need to get the PS1 US version or import the European copy. Might go with a European copy since I love the PSP.

@@dustpal I am a huge Tales of fan and the 2D games I like personally better than the 3D ones but that's just my opinion. If you want to own Tales of Eternia I gotta recommend you get the European version. I'd suggest the PSX version but due to the insane cost of it, your much much better off with the PSP version as it's just as good and costs a fraction of what the psx version gets nowadays. It's sad it and Destiny cost so much as well as many other fantastic psx JRPGs. Idk what's going on exactly but games I love have become
I dont know what's going on and why games that always have been reasonable or remotely reasonable have become prohibitively expensive but they are, now especially. Maybe when I'm 50 in 15 years prices will be more reasonable again but who knows.

If you dont mind using guides with games I highly suggest getting Tales of Rebirth. It never released here, and never got a translation patch sadly, but theres a typed translation guide on gamefaqs that translates the game and what people are saying both npcs and cutscenes. I own and beat the ps2 version using that translation guide and I loved the game and its it's one of my favorite tales of games. Racism is a very strong theme of the game and the gameplay is great as well as the sprites/graphics.
Give the game a shot as it's very disappointing it never got a patch or official release. It was developed by team Destiny while team symphonia made the average at best Tales of symphonia that released here. Whether you play Rebirth on PS2 or PSP it's worth playing through atleast once especially if your a fan of Tales.

My Vita would get more use if the library didn't consist of 45% pixel art indies, and 50% weeb adventures. I was _really_ hoping this handheld would've brought PS2 games back.

The PSP was a very good handheld but sadly no match for the DS :(
I wouldn't consider 3rd Birthday a "must have" it's just a bog standard 3rd person shooter that gets old and repetitive fast, I will agree though that it does get challenging with it's sudden difficulty spikes, and it is a pretty to look at game but it just didn't resonate with me at all.
Naruto ultimate ninja impact is one of the best PSP RPGs ever
