I love that modern mobile games are so bad, that people finally started to appreciate PSP games.

Same games like armored core, monster hunter and trails in the sky are way better then like 90 percent of games on the playstore
Mobile games only good because of online games..but if you searched for good story games or just want to have fun..yeah psp

Agreed! The Last Ranker is one of my favorite PSP games. Also Princess Crown is pretty good.
I'm learning Japanese, you can actually (technically) play raw Japanese games without reading, though it would be painful at times and you'll probably need a dictionary or translator app (if that exist).
To put the burning question to rest, the girl on the thumbnail is a fanart of Selvaria Bles. She does appear in Valkyria Chronicles II as an unlockable character.

but her wearing a lanseal uniform kinda ruins the vibe, she is much better in VC3 though but as a DLC character also. But you can see her valkyria mode in action.

Putting the fact that she wears a regular Lanseal uniform in VC2, she is an absolute monster of a scout
Even by today standard, the psp graphics still looks nice.
Pursuit Force forever holds a special place in my heart. Such a lovely and incredible game, that I thoroughly enjoyed throughout my childhood!
It's also memorable cause it's a game that was gifted to all playstation users for free when lizard squad hacked playstation network for months

@@FhargaZ I have but on a rom. Sadly, even with countless searches and patches, the game always crashes at the 3rd level =/ it's very upsetting because that game seemed so much better than the 2nd. Do you know where I can find a working rom with an English patch that doesn't crash??
I only played and beat the first, 4th and revolution, I have to get out my PSP and play the 2nd and 3rd someday.
@GigaDestroyer hmm...but won't the save files be different? Cuz one iso is English patched and the other would be a fully japaneese iso....u get what I'm sayin?
Bounty hounds is a great underrated game. Cyber loot based game. All weapons and armor have different skins and many different stats. Simple, but fun to play because of the new armor and weapons u find every 5 min

Not only did I learn about some new titles I now plan to find and play, I also got to appreciate a content creator who has great taste in Playstation music (Black Winter Night Sky, Mount Amazing, and Frontier Base)
I would also put Patapon 2 and Echochrome.
Totally agree with Locoroco 2, it is one of my favorite games of all time, a masterpiece of platformer that rewards you almost every time.
Gladiator Begins is incredible fun, thank you for addressing it.
I was going to suggest Valkyria Chronicles II. Another one that's quite overlooked is the excellent Jeanne D'Arc.
I found that in a thrift store. Held onto it for a long time cuz i liked what little i played. Ended up selling it
@@michael13849 You mean Jeanne D'Arc? I got it CIB for 14 bucks. Now, all of sudden, it's become a rare game and sells for an average of $90.

On another note, valkyria chronicles 2 may be underrated because its a psp exclusive but nt a lot of people bothered with valkyria chronicles 3 because it never gt an English dub.
If u gt no problem with English subs, I highly recommend valkyria chronicles 3, it has the best story in my opinion and I even prefer it over valkyria chronicles 4
Was really hoping to see Knights in the Nightmare on here. I used to absolutely love that game and I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone talk about it before. I know it’s not an exclusive to PSP, but the only other it was on was DS.

A huge amount of the Gundam games are absolute gems on the PSP. Definitely the best era of Gundam game any far and it also pushed more games to trend towards the unique tap targetting Acton combat style of some of the games (ie. Final fantasy)

There's a fan-made tales cross over game that feels like a real fighting game as well called "Tales of ACS", they manage to be faithful to each characters skillset and battle system too so it feels amazing. Try that out if you have a good pc.

WHERE IS KINGDOM OF PARADISE? That game is the one of the only games on the PSP that should be remaked on the PS5 or PC now!

Although I find it hard to get back in retro PS1 games... Most haven't aged well... Majority of PSP have and still stand out.
Of the games featured in this video, I have Ys Seven and Darkstalkers Chronicles. I've played through Ys Seven a few times and it is loads of fun. Darkstalkers Chronicles is a great alternative to the Street Fighter Alpha series. I've been meaning to get Ultimate Ghosts n Goblins for the longest time. A preview video of it is available for the one of the Capcom Classics Collections, I believe Remixed.
I went to japan in late 2016 and most of the stores still had ENORMOUS sections for PSP games (i bought like 10 with me). Also, please do a video on hammerin' hero or hexyz force, amazing underrated games

If you like Ghost n goblins i suggest playing the Prinny games from the Disgae series (its different from the Disgae game since its a platformer rather then an rpg)

Loved ghost in the shell on PSP! Was a bit tricky with the controls but easily became one of my favourite FPS games in the handheld! Same here it would be nice if Sony came back with another handheld.

Loco Roco is amazing, as is any Valkyria game, though one that wasn't mentioned that I have to bring up is WTF- Work Time Fun. One of my all time favorite PSP games.
that Ultimate Ghosts and goblins was the biggest surprise. never seen a version like that before.
It's great. Get the revised (Japan only ) version if you can. It's even better. Menus are mostly in English and it's 99.9% action anyway.

Ys Seven is an excellent game, it was my first and only (in the mean time) Ys game I've played. love the story and the desert soundtrack
I'll forever be thankful for the PSP introducing me to series with some of their best games like Phantasy Star Online Portable, Star Ocean 2, Ys 7 and Oath in Falghana, Persona 3P.
The library was too good to the jrpg genre.
Haha yeah, the JRPG selection on the PSP is nothing short of insane. So many crazy good titles.
It's 2023 and I still play on my PSP. Best handheld ever made.

I don't know if these games is underrated but these games still has a very good graphics, it's called monster hunter once you play it, it'll get addicted. It has 4 titles if i'm not mistaken freedom, freedom 2, freedom unite and monster hunter portable 3rd, still new to the game i played portable 3rd because it has a very good graphics since i'm playing it on emulator. Unfortunately, it doesn't have an english patch ver. for the psp since it only releases on japan. Keep it in mind tho the game is very hard/challenging but I had a lot of fun on it. It feels like I'm playing a triple A on the phone, very recommended
Gladiator beggins is such a gem among gladiator games in general. Solid and satisfying gameplay.
Tales of VS was a pain to play lol I still haven't unlocked Eugene yet and he's the last guy I need
2022 still play this amazing handheld, the game library for PSP is amazing
Just got a PSTV, mostly to enjoy the PSP library on the big screen. The result is way beyond my expectations. With custom firmware and the essential "Sharpscale" plugin (didn't think PSP games could look good on a 4k tv but they just do!), there's no doubt that it will be my most played console during the holidays. The library is just amazing, possibly the best mix of 2d and 3d classics on the same console, with a surprising amount of unique AAA games only available on the platform (Ys III: Oath of Felghana, Valkyria Chronicles 3, Jeanne D'Arc, etc.) and also many "superior version" of multiplatform classics (FF4, FF Tactics, GTA Chinatown Wars, etc.). By the way get the Japan-only revised version of Ultimate Ghosts n' Goblins if you can (Gokumakaimura Kai). It's no contest the definitive version of that excellent game (no language barrier).
I think people need to know what underrated actually means. The majority of these titles were rated very well among critics and consumers.
Haha yeah, kinda funny to see Platinum/Greatest Hits titles as "underrated" Ys Seven belongs here, though. That game's a 79 on metacritic and it's one of my favorite titles of all time. I don't understand.
Had it not been for the PSP my love for the Tales of franchise may have not bloom. This games and this console, just hold a special place in My memories. This console it's the Best.
Dante's Inferno came out on PSP? From the clip it seems like it's "perfect" port of console version. That's impressive!
Hidden gem for sure, only recently played it and was shocked. The narrative art style is sick.
The game was OK. The combat needed some adjustment. Towards the end, I usually spammed the holy cross as it had huge range and damage output. The scythe was weak in my opinion.
It's almost a 1:1 port, except for some gameplay sections that ended up becoming cutscenes. Really impressive.

And if you have a rhythm, perhaps patapon and its sequels? I found it fun but I really don’t know if it counts as an “underrated game” for the psp because I only had god of war and patapon on mine

It is THE best gladiator game ever made in my opinion.
It has multiple paths and endings as well as new game plus for longevity.
It's even better than it's larger scale prequel on PS2 (that doesn't allow for much in terms of character creation, but it has a better produced story).
Speaking of prequels, technically, Gladiator Begins is a prequel to the PS2 game I just mentioned.

Ghost and goblins is a weird game. Is so rage inducing that I almost throw my psp across the room, yet I can't stop trying to beat the level...
I believe Ys : Oath of Felghana is even more underrated than 7 and ranks higher for most. It was released on Switch recently but only in Japan, so PSP is the only English console version for now (just like 7). Fantastic game!

If it does put you off, though, the first two games were remade and combined as Ys Chronicles on the PSP! Definitely recommend it, I've been obsessed with the game for weeks!

The underrated psp games had more to it and had better graphics than popular titles too. Shame that the new generation children won't be as experienced as we are with RPG games. This was also the first handheld device I've ever loved.

If you like rpgs I think brave story is a very underrated game. The animation looks kiddy which turned me away at first but I gave it a try and i can say it's one of my favorite.

Fans of the Resistance series should check out resistance: retribution.
They knocked it out of the park with that one: interesting main character, kickass soundtrack, well paced level design.
So far, I'm enjoying Gladiator Begins. Will be back for the other games in the list.

Wow the first game is awesome first time playing it when I had my PSP I played all star wars games same on my ps2 and all GTA games and warriors
I would add Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops. It’s a great addition to the MG saga that’s only held back by its clunky controls (which thankfully can be fully customized so that helps somewhat.) I consider it to have more replay value than Peace Walker (though that might just be my opinion.)
Kurohyou (or Yakuza Black Panther) is a AMAZING PSP game that unfortunately only released on Japan and is very underrated and unknown. Its gameplay is simple, but fun, the bosses are enjoyable to fight, the protagonist is pretty cool and... Fuck, I love this title.
There's a English patch, that released a while ago, so I recommend that everyone, please, try it out. I'm sure you won't regret it ^^

Hey dude, there was a game on PSP, playing as an orc with a sword and you could customize the orc's outfit, swords, shield, and else and the goal was desyroying castles and knights and rescue a princess and the game camera was from the side. I forget its name. do you know what game it is?
