I always wanted one when they were new but couldn't justify it at the time. Now it's kinda officially dead I've jumped in with one on the homebrew scene and am IN LOVE. The most devastatingly underrated console ever. Both on the official side, and the homebrew side. The thing is incredible. Don't believe me? Go watch footage of Killzone: Mercenary on it and remember that it is running on a HANDHELD that released in 2011/2012.
I couldn't agree more! The PS GO was a mistake great concept but it was lacking so much the Vita on the other hand was pure GENIUS! I still have and play mine often between breaks at work or whatever free time I get. 😁👍
*criminally unsupported more like it. Sony pulled away from the system without giving it a real go, unfortunate to say the least as it had the hardware makings of a potential classic.
@@dwatts64 lol that's a fanboys only pride huh "don't believe me? Killzone" LMAO guarantee you 100% of the ppl that watched this video knows what Killzone is lol. So glad I found this video. I just got a PS Vita, primarily out of fear for the waning support of older games (PSP and PS1) that I may never get to try. A lot of these games you share look fantastic, I'm checking them out now :) Thank you!
Nihilumbra, Muv-Luv, VA-11 Hall-A, Trillion: God of Destruction, and the Neptunia franchise in general are all criminally underrated Vita Era games that don't get as much praise as they should.
Oh man, the entire Muv-Luv game franchise is incredible. I just started Photonmemories on steam and I already love it. Got the platinum for both Muv-luv which had complete with it, and Muv-Luv alternative. Plat for those games wasn't exactly easy but it wasn't hard either. Definitely a 10/10 for me
For Muramasa Rebirth, don't forget all the DLC (which you can get with the game as part of the Complete Collection bundle for less than the price of a new game), which effectively doubles the size of the game by adding 4 new characters who have their own extremely unique playstyles and stories, which although notably shorter than the main story, have unique bosses and multiple endings each, and are extremely well written and voiced.
Love Tokyo Xanadu (definitely one of my favs) and both Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines and Macross Scramble Delta have just made it to my 'To Buy' list. Thanks for the info!
Man The Vita is awesome and I'm glad we got a video like this on the Vita, a Criminally Underrated Console about it's Criminally Underrated Games, a very fun subject to say the least, plus if there's any Underrated or Under Talked about Vita Games I can think about for a part 2, it would be the Earth Defense Force titles released for Sony's second Handheld, I don't here those EDF games being talked about compared to the Home Console titles.
As a Tekken fan and not a street fighter fan (sorry everyone) I was looking forward to the reverse scenario where it’s a Tekken game and street fighter characters crossover. Shame we’ll never see that.
Out of all of your criminally underated PS Vita games, I've heard of Muramasa: Rebirth and I own the PS4 version of Tokyo Xanadu Ex +, I would love to get Muramasa: Rebirth for my Vita, that game just looks so cool on its own, the Tokyo Xanadu Ex+ version isn't that different from the Vita, It just had more events, side quests, and after game stuff, other than that it's still a great game, you made a great list of criminally underated games I've never heard of until now, I appreciate all you do TVGS keep it up ✌️
Man I've been playing Muramasa Rebirth on my Vita for the past few days. Just this morning I beat Momohime's story and started Kisuke. This game is beautiful, I just pause at times and just look at the artstyle. The combact is super fast and fun. It sure is an underratted gem.
I strongly recommend Macross Delta Scramble to everyone! My best friend got it for me a couple of years ago and I found out about it from this channel! It’ll never happen, but I’d love to see it get remastered on Switch or something
Another thing to note about Muramasa Rebirth is that there is DLC for it that is exclusive to the Vita. If you get the game, be sure to spring for the DLC too. :-)
If you do not own 10:31 - GET ON IT! It's probably one of the cleanest looking games on the Vita and it's fast and fun. If you liked Zome of the Enders the second runner or gundamn type games in general - THIS IS IT.
I'm a dayoner literally the day of the release I got the OLED vita with 2 digital downloads, Gravity Rush and unit 13, I also bought uncharted Golden abyss loved it. when the slim came out I bought the borderlands 2 collection many underated games..good to know this list usually it's filled with games I already knew of but this is a fresh list..street fighter x Tekken I had I need it back great game
Muramasa Rebirth and Tokyo Xanadu look like titles right up my alley. If i can find them for a reasonable price, I may get them. Thanks for this upload.
Whole the original Vita version of Tokyo Xanadu is great, you might want to get the Ex+ version on the PS4 or PC, of you have that option, since it has a lot of added content. In either case though, keep in mind that it is misled line a season of an anime (or something like Buffy the Vampire Slayer), complete with playing the (skippable) opening theme at the start of each chapter/episode and having little mid-chapter title cards, so it starts a bit slowly and the battle system only truly opens up once you get your third character (in the latter half of chapter 2, IIRC) and you start to really be able to fully utilize the character swapping mechanics. Also, I would recommend trying to Speedrun the levels from the beginning, since they are designed so that is the must fun and profitable way to tackle them, and you can always challenge them again, if you wish.
So glad TxK was mentioned... I always champion that game and recommend it to Vita owners. Another good one is Mutant Blobs Attack. The Vita version is one of the earliest digital games I bought for the system and I really had a blast with it. I also got Plants vs. Zombies early, but that was pulled from the market only about a year later, so you can't buy that one any longer, sadly. It's a real shame because it is maybe the best version of PvZ for any system.
I'm a little sad but happy at the same time with my copy of Macross Delta Scramble that I got. Bought a used deluxe copy online a month ago and it showed up as a new official sealed game. It has the official Sony pull part in the seal and the correct sticker on it. Because of the cost of a new sealed one it almost makes me not want to open it now. 😂🤣
Absolutely love the Vita no longer have any physical games for it but couldn't bring myself to sell the console itself and have an extensive digital library... Three completely under-rated games simply due to being Vita games for me were KillZone: Mercenary, Little Big Planet Vita (I actually enjoyed this more with the Vita controls than the PS3 vers) and especially Virtua Tennis 4. That game well and truly delivered on the "console gaming on the go" premise.
I wish the modding community could create a working DS emulator for the Vita. The current one is not very good, if functional at all. At least the 64 emulation works perfectly for a lot of games
Please continue to translate it for ppl like me! Ever since I found out about repatch I have been doing nothing but playing Japanese games I would've never got to play, I've been trying to play phantasy star but idk if its because the english patch i have its hard to decipher where to go and what to do. So if you need any motivation to continue trust me ppl like me will play it!
Even now in 2023, I am barely obtaining this PS Vita. It is a great console (region free console at that) and with great limited editions in Japan. Definitely trying to find good games as the classic PSones mostly got removed, unfortunately.
Akiba's trip is now available on Steam as well as the sequel Hellbound & Debriefed, that Japanese-only Macross game has to be one of the most graphically impressive game on the Vita, basically PS3 graphics.
... WHERE'S FREEDOM WARS?!... Going to add it here in Comment's. Freedom Wars is a Vita only game where you and other folks become prisoner's to your own country for lacking skills or taking things from your country above your pay grade as resources are so scarce, rationing is in constant effect and depending on how outstanding a 'citizen' you are, determines if you should get a bigger Ration and earn any 'Rights' back. These rights include, talking to other prisoner's, eating a taco, trying to sleep properly, taking a s#!t. Talking to a member of the opposite sex. Talking to a non-prisoner WEEBOO forced to undergo genetic surgery to remain as youthful as possible while provided technical and tactical skills. Going outside to the bar. Getting Drinks at the Bar. Building your own Equipment and saving mankind from doing this sh*t still. What do you do during this, how do you not become a prisoner? By working off you 1 Million Year Sentence. You get years added if you break a law or disobey a surperior and burn the years OFF by doing various missions while also risking your life and limb. These missions range from gathering shit in the wasteland, precious metals and materials, to kidnapping OTHER WEEBO citizens or RECOVERING your other WEEBO citizens from other Enemy countries. You got guns, chainsaws, swords, artillery, sniper rifles and GUNS to use for this, so USE them. The capturing and kidnapping bit, has people in mechs designed to cargo carry humans to prevent their escape and they are pretty over powered. Good news is, you can saw off their limbs, destroy parts of their body and make them less threatening, providing your gain the skill and time everything correctly. and the whole game's story is to find EDEN or the land of plenty so this BS need for people to enslave each other, rationing resources and so on can permanently END.
Eeks I totally forgot about Akibas Trip.. I was coming along just fine then for whatever reason I just stopped.. I wonder how I’d be going back now with some more experience playing Yakuza & such.. Tokyo Xanadu I have on PS4 which is quite literally a cross between my favorite rpg series Trails which I played on Vita first and YS another one of my top favs..
Muramasa Rebirth I'm glad I bought last year on Vita, even the dlc. I was worried all the psn content would go at that point and tried to get as many as I can on vita and ps3. Course luckily that didn't happen but I'm glad to get these games and the dlc at least. I would love to get Macross Delta Scramble if it's playable on an American Vita and english settings. Street Fighter x Tekken was the better choice to play on vita and has all the playable fighters.
Oh..Do you know a way to have Castle of illusion on vita (the reboot available on android,ps3,steam). I really like this one,my vita is a 'hacked' one with PKGJ,retroarch..but strangely this title is not on the games list. On android is cool, but only with touch screen commands..sadly. Same with Metal slug XX without psn. If a iso is available. Thanks.
I was living in China when the Vita was released and I figured I'd get one when I next visited the US. When I arrived they were no longer available (and now I'm essentially trapped here). I love my Switch but regret that I never got a Vita.
I tried Akiba's Trip, and even on the easy setting, it was difficult. Wanted to give the guy the shrine maiden outfit, but couldn't. Had to give up. Fortunately for me, and maybe few others, the game was advertising the first Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel within the game. Wait, there was a Macross game for the Vita? Dang it! Could anyone tell me *if* it was Robotech related. I still play Tokyo Xanadu to this day over and over again. Too bad that *none* of the dlc from the EX+ version, especially the bikini for Asuka, came to the Vita version. Speaking of which, I think the hooded holy knight being playable is only for the EX+, a PS4 version, *not* the Vita version.
@@martinde-serres8724 I know all that, I just wanted to know if the game had anything to do with Robotech is all. A simple yes or no would've sufficed.
I played this games and i can confirm they are great. All, but Macross Delta. I just couldn't get pass the tutorial because sadly it's only in Japanese with not subtitles option 😭
Yes, I agree. But they showed the PS4 version that is Tokyo Xanadu Ex+, not the Vita version, since the hooded holy knight is playable only in Ex+. Otherwise a good fun game. I *wish* that the Vita version had gotten some of the Ex+ dlc...like Asuka's bikini.
Vita is by far one of the best. I still have my old vita and got the chance to jailbreak it myself. Now I have a library or games to finish huwahahahaha😎😎😎😎
I wish I would’ve bought more vita games when stores just wanted to get rid of them now their prices have gotten crazy. Hell 3ds prices have gotten pretty bad also
@@cathalorourke1 well i think if i find another vita i might do it, i want to have an original one just for collecting. I wish I would’ve bought more games when stores were trying to get rid of the vita sections. I would like to have an extra vita and 3ds just in case one breaks. Just bought an oled switch yesterday i love playing games handheld especially jrpg’s. Only system I ever had modded was the original xbox.
@@ChadKenova Yeah I wouldn't mind picking up one to collect as well. I'm like that with most consoles, I wait too long, rather than pick up the games when they're cheap. I'll never learn lol Yeah there's something about handhelds and jrpgs that go hand in hand
I think I have a copy of Tokyo Xanadu EX for my PS4.🙄 The Vita is my favorite “Failed/Underrated” console of all Time right next to the Sega Saturn and DreamCast! 😎 Problem is I have a Library of 60+ games and have only played around 35 or 40 of them! Yeah I Love my PS4 but it just stinks that Sony decided to abandon the Vita essentially just right after the PS4’s release! 🙄🤦♂️It might have not sold like the 76 million units the 3DS did but if they would’ve tried harder they could’ve had a Vita user base of 25 to 35 million! Plus a Better game Library even though the Vita’s library is VERY Good!
@@obe1withtheforce785 It has extra content, but I've never played the Vita version because I don't have one. They're still 99% the same game, the Wii one likely has better controls though.
God, I need to dig around and find my PSTV. I know people tend to shit on it, but it's honestly a great device for PS1, Psp, and Vita titles on a TV (...and also streaming.) Also when I bought mine, it came with a Lego game and a PS3 controller for like $80. Great deal for weirdos like me.
The Vita what a sad story Sony brought it out to pasture and let it die a slow death. I picked an original oled vita up for one reason, persona 4 golden. Another one of my favorite jrpg’s LOH trails of cold steel 1 and 2 I played on the vita. And as for the most graphically impressive games i think uncharted golden abyss or killzone mercenary has my pick.
Vita had a great hardware console, great display but lacked games... I have it, played a lot with it and of course had his great titles but was a fail compared to psp or Nintendo ds and 3ds because it had few exclusive games, no support from software house. And ridiculous memory card prices. With that hardware it could have been the best portable console ever at time...but you buy console for games...
I'm still impressed that the Vita got a port of the Space Hulk turn based strategy game. Not the best way to play it, but still cool to have a portable version of it. Wish Vita got its own Aliens Vs Predator FPS game...
Sony could have asked publishers to tap into the high quality PS2 library and rereleased hundreds of games onto the Vita,a huge shame because a portable PS2 library would have saved the system.
Lacks of exclusive games (psp had much more), few support from software house and ridiculous memory card price. Great hardware and display but i buy console for exclusive games...
@@ciuffoarancione8929 Looking back at the Vita library, it was as if Sony only wanted big AAA games on it. It really lacks when it comes to the quirky, 2d games that made the DS/3DS a more robust handheld. And omg, those stupid, overpriced memory cards...

I really like this one,my vita is a 'hacked' one with PKGJ,retroarch..but strangely this title is not on the games list.
On android is cool, but only with touch screen commands..sadly.
Same with Metal slug XX without psn.
If a iso is available.
Thanks.
Thats a whole lot of good looking games I need to play 👍👍
Cheers Gaz!
Tokyo Xanadu was awesome
@@whitewolf3051 And so did it have anything to do with Robotech?
@@HammyHavoc That's what I'm asking for since I don't know. I wish someone would answer.

Is there any way to play macros Delta scramble in english?
Thanks!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Macross delta looks ahead of it time for the vita
I played this games and i can confirm they are great. All, but Macross Delta. I just couldn't get pass the tutorial because sadly it's only in Japanese with not subtitles option 😭
It's all about Family.
I got the reference 😅
TOKYO MOTHER LOVIN XANADU YASSSSSS
Such a solid RPG!
Wonder if they’ll ever port muramasa over to ps4
Everything looking so good in 60fps these days!
Thanks Rich! Best move I ever made 😅
Muramasa Rebirth was incredibly well received critically. Underrated? Definitely not. Overlooked though? Definitely.
I want them all!!
i have the air race games on my 3ds
drive girls
Vita is by far one of the best. I still have my old vita and got the chance to jailbreak it myself. Now I have a library or games to finish huwahahahaha😎😎😎😎
I wish I would’ve bought more vita games when stores just wanted to get rid of them now their prices have gotten crazy. Hell 3ds prices have gotten pretty bad also
Jailbreak it, you can have any vita, psp and Ps1 game you want for free then
@@cathalorourke1 well i think if i find another vita i might do it, i want to have an original one just for collecting.
Let’s go!
The way I see it, all PS Vita games that is not titled Persona 4 Golden are underrated
How is muramasa better on PsVita?
Looks better on ps vita than on the Wii in my opinion
@@cyberangel9967 is that it?
@@obe1withtheforce785 It has extra content, but I've never played the Vita version because I don't have one. They're still 99% the same game, the Wii one likely has better controls though.
The Vita has exclusive DLC for the game... plus the game looks amazing if you have the OLED model Vita. :-)
Every game on Vita is underrated because the console flopped really bad.
Muramasa deserved a home console release.
Stay salty to Sony portables Nintendo switch fanboy lmaoooooooooo
can it get more impressive than this? 😊 proud Vita player
Oreshika is crippled by it's lack of sound settings, it is actually very overrated all things considering.
I loved the PSTV, especially once it’s hacked!
The real crime is the vitas memory card price
Actually all vita games are underrated XD
I'm still impressed that the Vita got a port of the Space Hulk turn based strategy game. Not the best way to play it, but still cool to have a portable version of it.
Wish Vita got its own Aliens Vs Predator FPS game...
I tried the Jaguar version on my hacked Vita, 1-2fps - such a shame!
I haven’t played that on Vita! Will have to check it out, thanks for the tip Soldat 🙂
@PS Vita Roundup, issue with the emulator or Rom? You'd think Vita could handle an Atari Jaguar game just fine.
Sony could have asked publishers to tap into the high quality PS2 library and rereleased hundreds of games onto the Vita,a huge shame because a portable PS2 library would have saved the system.
A sequel to Primal would have been amazing.
Did you know that the ps vita can only store 500 games.
If you jailbreak it you can install another UI to see more than the 500 bubble limit, currently i have 570 vita games on mine using a 1tb SD card.
Criminally,seriously 😁
The fact that I already know about all of this game and played half of them. I think my adventure with ps vita is about to end
Oh yes please
So who is going to jail ?
Haha 😅
I think one of the major downfalls of the Vita was that most of the games were also on PS3. Why play inferior versions of console games?
Lacks of exclusive games (psp had much more), few support from software house and ridiculous memory card price.
Great hardware and display but i buy console for exclusive games...
@@ciuffoarancione8929 Looking back at the Vita library, it was as if Sony only wanted big AAA games on it. It really lacks when it comes to the quirky, 2d games that made the DS/3DS a more robust handheld. And omg, those stupid, overpriced memory cards...
You know what else is kinda crimimal? The thumbnail! (AYO)
Only like first one :)
I love you
NGL I was disappointed in the first half of the video, but I stayed, and the second part was full of bangers I gotta try.
Omg I am gonna pull down some girls skirts 🤣
I hate turn based games i dont know why.
