As a fan of the PSP there were so many games that made the system a must own.
As fellow PSP enjoyer, there are literally hundreds of games to play, and many more if you speak Japanese as the PSP had massive support there.
@@mattiasangiorgi5476 I have a massive collection of both American and Japanese PSP games. Though I'm buying them in hopes of someday uploading their manuals, and many more manuals I've bought, onto the internet.

Is it easy to get the english patch for Japanese games ?
@@mo_musashi_284 not all game is english patches, Some good game is stuck on Japanese language such as Last ranker or Lord of Apocalypse etc.
It may seem like a small thing, but adding the name of the games on the top right while you talk about them has made videos so much easier to enjoy.
Right I just said that it is a godsend so I can remember too check the game out lol😊😊😊😊
Can't even begin to count how many videos I've stopped and tried finding out through the comments or online what game I was seeing

The art detail in that game is tremendous. One of my faves on the PSP.

It had a long struggle in the emulation scene to get Jenne D'arc running properly. But the latest update to PPSSPP now makes it possible to play it again if you're PSP hardware has died. (Like mine did 2 years ago.)
@@Mac_Omegaly Emulation issues with ppsspp? That's odd, thought that enulator was almost perfect, or was it with another emulator?
PSP is my second favourite handheld ever (3ds coming number 1). The hardware and library was amazing, I just wished I picked it up earlier

The PSP and DS combined were a gold mine for JRPG goodness in the 00s, but man this list showed me even I missed out on some really good ones. Best hope is maybe some of these could hit PSN Premium one day, but Sony is just as weirdly slow as Nintendo is when it comes to adding notable games from some systems (like I would have thought Daxter would have been put on PSN by now since it's first party, and almost every other Jak and Daxter game is already on PS4 and 5, but nope it's not there yet).

The PSP is amazing. The PS1, PS2 and PSP are my favorite Sony consoles.
I had a lot of fun with Jeanne D arc, game does get too easy in the later stages but all in all a solid game

Original Dissidia and the Duodecim are a must have, they dropped the ball on NT though. Also, Monsterhunter Freedom Unite, Tactics Ogre, and Persona3 for me.
The ball drop happened with the second game. The fact it was barely half a new game and they completely ruined characters like onion knight
Dead Head Fred is one I always thought looked weird, but hearing your thoughts on it, I’ll have to pick it up myself to try out! Daxter is such an awesome game too, and cool to see Coded Arms get some appreciation! Awesome list man!
Last ranker doesnt have a full translation. The team that worked on it left a barebones translation that gets you to the end but they never properly finished the project which is a shame given how unique the game is

It wasn't even a team that translated it. There was a youtuber that has since deleted his channel that did a playthrough of this game and for the sake of the playthrough he translated the story and some of the menus and uploaded his translation files in case anyone wants to actually work on it. Then a quite famous scene guy named flamethrower (who also worked on the original translations of AO and Zero no kiseki before geofront) just inserted all the translated text in the game by himself. He tried to contact the youtuber who did the translations in order to ask him to work together but he never got a reply and like I said the youtuber later even deleted his channel and went off the grid.

The PSP remakes of Final Fantasies 1, 2 and 4 are still stuck on PSP, and are still the definitive versions despite the Pixel Remasters existing. The PRs don't have all the content added in from the prior versions like the PSP versions did (which also added even more on top, making them the most complete versions of the games). Thus, if you wanted to experience that content, you literally cannot with the PRs, hence why they aren't definitive.
Have to add them in for part 2!
i was adamant on NOT buying the PR's for this exact reason; the content just isn't there. the psp versions are the superior versions of all the FF games available (minus 4.. the DS version of 4 is amazing due to the cutscenes and voice acting) however I recently picked them all up during a sale for about half off and enjoyed what I have played so far. beat 4 and started the psp only version of the interlude and sequel and slowly grinding those out. 5 and 6 are next. definately wait for a sale for them all.
@@MiBrCo4177 Well, since FF4 DS is also a different experience gameplay wise (Augment system and whatnot), I'd say it's worth playing both 2D and 3D FF4 anyway. PSP FF4 is definitely the definitive 2D version at least.
there's also Final Fantasy 3 for PSP that only released in Japan but u can play it in English bc they included an English language inside.
@@leviskata final Fantasy 3 PSP was also on the PSP, Vita, PS3 stores. Natively in English. Also it was released in English on the DS.
Recently tried Wipeout Pure and it's a blast. It's kinda sad that now it's just another IP that Sony seemed to forget about
I know right. Would love to see it make a comeback!
I belive it's very hard to sell a full-budget sci-fi racing game. Gamers are tend to more realistic racing games (Nintendo is a parallel universe), pushing other sub-genres to an indie niche and development budgets.
As a big fan of WipeOut since PS1 that saddens me. At least I've got a gorgeous Wipeout VR as a series swan song.
There have been sooo many Wipeout games, I'd hardly say Sony forgot about it, more that people stopped buying them.
yeah man thr last wipeout was the wipeoit collection on ps4 I think in 2017@UnjustifiedRecs
Another excellent list TVGS! Coded Arms is a solid FPS. I wish it could have gotten some sequels on the home consoles with dual analog support and online multiplayer. Another great PSP exclusive is "Infected". Great video. Thanks man.
I sometimes rewatch that trailer for the cancelled PS3 Coded Arms game. Dang shame. We rarely get FPS games from Japan.

Some really great ones on here. Daxter was awesome and I played a ton of Wipeout Pure. I would even just set the PSP next to me while I was working and listen to the full soundtrack that came with the game. Also loved Coded Arms. I didn't realize it had a sequel. Time to hit eBay!

i played some of the jrpgs on your list like last ranker, wild arms xf, and jeanne d'arc, and all i can say is the PSP is really worth keeping.

wild arms xf is one of the nicest turn based strat game, it's sad that people hated it because of the difficulty on early parts.

similar to the Yakuza series but also does it's own thing

Emulating the games on high resolution makes them unreal, would be better to set emu on original resolution to get a more accurate idea of how the games were designed. Thanks for ur videos dude, they are great!

Gurumin is my all time favorite games stuck on the psp. I would love to see a sequel, but I know how much that will never happen for such a niche game.
Gurumin is really charming!
There's also a PC release. Played it on my GPD Win 2 several years ago.
Gurumin is on steam and it's really cheap, also there's some mods to help with some problems the game has and enhance other parts
Also on the 3DS, so it's not stuck on the PSP.
I have a modded and an unmodded OLED PS Vita, and love the PSP roms on the former, specially its Tactical RPGs they are so good. Loads of JRPGs too. ❤
This system is still a beast in 2023.

When it comes to games stuck on PSP there's a couple that come to my mind
Mega Man Maverick Hunter X, Dissidia 012, and the Kurohyou Yakuza spinoffs come to mind
the latter especially, not only is it stuck on PSP, but it's also stuck in Japan, although you can download an awesome english patch for the 2 games courtesy of TeamK4L
Its limitation of only one stick was part of why I am so fascinated with the games on it.

I spent so many hours on Wild Arms XF. The characters were so memorable, the mechanics were sound, music was fun, and the story was quite good. Glad it was featured here.
I have had the game installed on my Vita for years but I have yet to try it out. I think between this video and your comment, I am going to start it after the holidays. Do I need to know anything about the other WIld Arms games to enjoy XF?

I've played Gundam battle royal and the final 2 extra missions when you get to challenge every dang mobile in the game gave me HELL it truly was a Achievement when I beat those missions

So many more games back in the day. All with physical copies you would buy in store and many local independent stores who dealt in used and imports.

Valkyria Chronicles 2 and 3 are stuck in psp as well. Great story and gameplay. VC 3 has an awesome eng translation patch as well.
One thing about the BGM used here on Gundam Battle Royale segment is it came from the ps1 game Gundam Battle Assault 2, Port BGM.
Undead Kinghts , Everybody's Stress Buster , Dissidia, Final Fantasy Crisis and Jeanne D'arc is what made me interested to her real - life history is what made love psp
i'm sure the psp wipeout tracks can be downloaded for wipeout HD for ps3 / omega collection? I think, correct me if im wrong, but i'm sure they are available?

Are the CG cutscenes of the Last Rakner translated? I found one version, but only main dialogues were translated, but no NPC's, nor the CG cutscenes. If there is a better full translated version could you or anyone hint me where to get it?

The Last Ranker and Dead Head Fred look amazing to me, besides Jeanne D'arc which has always interested me.

Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles a.k.a Rondo Of Blood Remake has good stuck 👍 . Its also has two addition games Rondo of Blood and Symphony Of The Night which had create own genre is Metroidvania

I love disgaea and FFT and a few wild arms games but never knew about XF, gotta check it out.
I really loved the suikoden series and i am waiting on eiyuden chronicles as well. Hope that this suikoden could quell my itch on waiting. Also i vaguely remember playing last ranker like a decade ago, but it didnt have eng patch then so i stopped playing. Will try to play this one again.

The Jeanne d’Arc in the thumbnail is from the Fate series of anime and games.
If u guys enjoyed Last Ranker like me, try Sol Trigger too, its a really good rpg in anime style with good history, characters and a impressive graphics for psp.
I didn't know that Last Ranker had a game, I only read its short manga and saw the game hear, I'll try to play the game.

I would really like to see Shinobido get a remastered collection release including the PSP title. And Brave Story, I really enjoyed that one.

Wipeout Pure was redone as Wipeout HD for the PS3 and PS4(Omega Collection). Pure and HD are set in the same era(in the game's storyline), only a few years apart.
Only a small fraction of Pure was ported over to HD Fury & Omega. And not even all of Pulse was ported to HD either. Although WipEout HD does have several exclusive tracks that aren't in either Pure or Pulse by way of the reverse tracks.
There is a PS2 version of Wipeout Pure.
Is it possible to buy the UMD of a japanese game, and then use the fanmade translation?

Stuck? They are on there for a reason. It's where they belong. Such a great system, the Vita too despite it not having done well. Way ahead of its time.
