@Einars Dubrovskis Collins has endometriosis and has rheumatoid arthritis and she’s been playing matches after matches with no coach nor any physiotherapist... it’s normal to get injured and considering how noisy Collins is during her matches, she barely grunted or yelled any Come On’s which was evident enough to prove that she’s not feeling the same way as per usual so u need to stop being bias and be neutral and not come up with stupid excuses
Collins bullied Ruse for taking an MTO but she has no problem in faking an injury. Injured players never win like this😃

Colllins just won back to back titles so that is a lot of tennis…and the fact she has chronic RA… after seeing her get a medical time out…I can see her retiring to get ready for the US Open. NBO is a 1000 level tourney…so I think she prob hate to retire from this tourney.

I'm so sad I missed this match, but great job with the highlights, WTA! Would request maybe an extra minute of players' emotions as well, that we get to see in between points, more so in Collins' matches and players like her - Kenin, Andreescu, Serena, Sakkari, Sabalenka - to name a few. It adds so much to the experience. And also, please upgrade the quality of these videos to 1080p or higher. We've been stuck at 720p (not even HD) for a few years now.
I’m very glad to see Simona Halep back on the tour healthy. Great three set win Danielle Collins that is very impressive.
Halep knew she played well there hence the fist pump after she'd lost and walked to the net. I reckon that's what Collins said to her as well. Collins just had the confidence of so many wins lately, which kept up her belief.
Yup and Halep is just coming back and 3 months of no play. So I think this was a match Halep needed to get back to her best.

What a battle this match was. I think it meant a lot to Collins to defeat Halep judging from their moment at the handshake. I hope Collins keeps up the heat and that Halep will be strong at the US Open. These 2 should not be meeting early in the tournament.

Love to see Simona back and competing. She is one of my favorite players along with Serena, Bianca, M. Sakkari & Giorgi . Love the fighting spirit. Only someone who is fortunate enough not to know what it means to be back on court after having surgery and injury, would compare Simona with other competitors on tour.
Really enjoyed that. Dani is playing such high level, her backhand in particular is so, so strong. And what I like is there was very little of the "come OOOOON" we used to see. All business now, which I love. Also, towards the end of the match, it was Simo who was making all the noises, and Dani was quiet throughout. Liking the new and improved DC. Good luck.
Her come on never bothered me personally, the screamers on every point like Sabalenka and Riske bother me much more. Halep was unusually quiet this match until the final set.

Danielle looked so pissed throughout the match. I only started watching toward the ending of the second set but Collins was uncharacteristically quite lol… no grunts or “come ons!” She prob was injured.
I think she was trying to focus even more.. Halep was her big test, even though Halep could be not as fresh, she still has a sick game
I think she is just exhausted rather than injured. She has played a lot of matches.

Halep’s Serve keeps killing her in all her matches. Look at her against Serena in AO 21. She needs to do something about that. We shouldn’t be seeing 80MPH first serves.
But she washed Serena two and two on her best surface with the same serve. So in my opinion,even though I’m far from being a fan, she’s doing pretty good 😊

@@lesrinewhitby4653 If it was fake as Halep suggests, Danielle did a good job of faking it, she looked very pained. Halep's friend and countrywoman Ruse pulled the medical timeout twice on Danielle in last month at Hamburg and Palermo. Payback is a bitch, Danielle didn't like it either.

She has had very little rest with matches and travel, that's when injury occurs.
Collins was now in the position of Ruse, in Palermo. Never be the one to throw the stone! Injured or not, tired or not, her timeout helped to get the other out of hand 😒
@@ancavalse6505 and? When Halep gets medical 0-3 down in final set against Tomljanovic in Cincinnati 2018 and wins it 6-3 with six games in a row I don't remember anyone complaining... And not only that but she went on to reach the final and almost won the whole tournament 🤦♂️ But now when someone gets medical against her, it's a problem for her and her fans. Stop it

@@ancavalse6505 and it still doesn't change the fact that Halep is the one who gets medical many times, and guess what - always when she's down in the score, so she doesn't have the right to complain either. (I'm obviously refering to the fact that she was unhappy in the press with Collins' medical)
That handshake at the end is everything that stands for sportsmanship. And Danielle is proving to be a contender for US Open. And she does have the game to take it all the way. I think she should take a break in her lead upto the last grand Slam of the season. And as for Simona she still looks rusty. She still hasn't recovered from her injury completely. I am sure at the end Danielle must have said something encouraging to Halep.

If you’d have told me two years ago that Danielle Collins was going to beat Simona Halep in a major tournament, and that Camila Giorgi was going to beat Kvitova and Pliskova and ultimately be holding the trophy at the end (and even smile very briefly a few times), I would have said, “Pshh, a pandemic will sweep the planet before that happens!!” What a crazy time to be alive.

She can ball-bash but she’s not really a ball-basher 🙂there’s actually a lot of craft and variety in her game. I just hope that her health can hold up! Wahoo-wa!
Halep is a threat to no one.
I think fans and players are getting a bit too sensitive about players taking MTOs at this point. A lot of people have bad blood from the situations where players have clearly used an MTO to disrupt the rhythm of their opponent (like Ostapenko at Wimbledon, Ruse in Palermo or Yastremska at the Thai Open), but it becomes ridiculous when it is assumed that EVERY instance of a MTO is fake. It's like everyone is just waiting to pounce on anyone who takes a MTO at this point.
Collins has played an awful lot of tennis in the past few weeks and it's a miracle that her body is in as good a condition as it is following 11 match wins. Given her rheumatoid arthritis, she is bound to have picked up at least minor injuries in that time. She requested an MTO two games before she got it, at which point she had no idea whether she'd be ahead or behind in the score in the final set.
Maybe the rule needs to change, but Halep's comments following the match are nothing more than sour, especially given the amount of interaction she had with her team in the stands during the match. Halep didn't lose because of the MTO. She lost because Collins was better than her.
Why did she took MTO when Simona made break. The pain is there no matter what game you play. Why she didn't took it when it was even ? Let's be serious here.
Collins did won because she played better on that day but I wish she was more fair player. I'm curious who is gonna win when Simona is fully back on her game.

I think when u request a MTO depending on which point in the match it is you can either get it instantly or on the next change over. I think she asked for it ahead of time for something minor not to throw simona off
