I have been so impressed with the way Katerina has improved her all-around game on the singles' side of things. She's been so consistent this year on the other side of the tour, and has still maintained the focus in doubles to bring home Grand Slam. I'm a fan :)
And the Olympic gold too!

that match was a rollercoaster
Garbiñe is back to the rollercoaster, she started the year amazing, loosing to Osaka in a match where she had mp, then won Dubai but after that her results aren't that good. I don't think Siniakova is improving, she has played great in the past but never surpassed that top 30 ceiling(Siniakova will most likely loose vs Samsonova/Sorribes in the next round and for sure she will be out in QF if she manages to win the next match). In doubles she is amazing but that's another story. In my opinion Garbiñe has to be able to win these matches consistently.
@phidippus74 I like Siniakova, I hope she can get further in singles, as you said she has potential. I’m a fan of Garbiñe and it’s sad to see her like this again
It’s called dope cycling. Very popular in Spain athletics. Athletes like Muguruza will go on dope for a small period of time and then go off of it to avoid it showing up in tests.
Katerina Siniakova and her flashy kit overwhelm Muguruza in three sets and this after Siniakova failed to win a game in the second set. She impressively defeated two Grand Slam champions in two days!

@Einars Dubrovskis She was winning a match 6-0 then fell to the ground with a cramp to one of her thighs, it was severe and she had to stop, that was about 3 or 4 months ago. An injury affects the moral of a player as well as their physical capabilities. She had just won a tournament before that injury. That's not to take away from the qualities of her opponent but prior to the injury she was on a roll.

This was a heck of a battle.
No one should be surprised at the results. It's what you expect from women's tennis now. No one is dominating women's tennis right now. Anyone can win. Lower rank players can beat a top 10 player. Osaka is about as close as you can get to a dominant player and she is only good on hard courts.

Yall were spoiled in the early 00s all the way until the end of Serena's era and did nothing but bitch and moan abt how there was no depth when Serena was winning. Now apparently there's too much depth as everyone has collectively improved. 😂 it's what petulant, finicky tennis fans deserve.

@@nt4081 Definitely. These players improved a lot throughout this year. I'm especially very surprised by their results on hard and grass since both were considered as clay court specialists. Badosa is definitely a top 10 potential.
@@nt4081 Idk about Sara, she's very passive to replace such a agressive player like Muguruza, Badosa might be I don't know, she needs more training, to improve the anticipation and netgame, moving more do not stay static at the middle of the court, to learn more defensive skills.
Badosa needs to play Mugu that would be great to watch.

I think that her game is better now, it's just that every single player plays better more aggressive tennis and the competition is absolutely fierce.

One problem is her forehand. It's really too friendly, too often lacks penetration and drops short too much of the time!! But she has a very nice game, for sure.

Tactically very strange match from Mugz.
Mugu only knows how to hit one way and that's hit as hard as she can with no variety. She loves pace and hates junk. That's why people like Niculescu gives her all kind of problems. Mugu is too passive in this match. You can't win by waiting for the opponent to make mistakes, at least not at this level.
She won 2 Grand Slams hitting that way.

Quite disappointed with Muguruza’s play she needs to switch her game up ! The hitting only gets you thus far ! Katerina is about to be outplayed stay tuned ! Just hitting your game is cracked very easily !
Muguruza is mentally unstable is overrated, has won very few tournaments in the past including the 2 most prestigious tournaments and was lucky.
Now that the competitors are stronger, numerous and fierce, in fact, it no longer combines anything.
