Ostapenko is the third wildcard to lift the title 🏆
She won the previous title in Luxembourg 2019 also with the wildcard.

I have to admit, I didn’t see this coming! Ostapenko is showing some fantastic form. Her serve is so much better. If she plays like this, she’s a contender for Wimbledon for sure!

When she plays well she's the player who fires me up the most with her style. She's very dynamic and I love the way she hooks the ball with her clean shots.

Even in F RG '17 she made a ton of UE before starting to put everything inside. It's one of the three most consistent tournament performances of her after this RG final & WMB '18.

Actually even in times where she's played badly, tennis pundits have always had her as a contender at any trophy. Her playing style of all or nothing makes her capable of winning anything and beating anyone, this time too, they better take note of her
Ostapenko playing almost exactly the same way as in French open 2017. When she is playing her best tennis, it's like nobody can literally beat her

I am so happy for Ostapenko. Kontaveit.also had a great tournament. She defended well against Golubic. Wish them luck in Wimbledon.
Perhaps the single most impressive performance I've seen on the WTA this year, she looked unplayable.
Seeing Ostapenko shine with her forceful groundies makes me smile. I wish Madison Keys could do this cuz I don’t know anyone who takes bigger cuts at the ball than Keys.
Yes would be great for Madison to do the same. Ostapenko has an extra gear though I feel and is a much more efficient power hitter...her swing is quite simple on both sides
Madison has the extra gear like Jelena (she proved this at Cincy 2019) but the problem is the ground strokes for Madison. Her serve is better than Jelena’s but she misses so many rallying balls. I’m starting to think she has a nervous thing in her head that makes her go too much in big moments. She like Jelena loses when they aren’t near their best a lot which is something they need to work on to get consistent results.

An excellent final and a highly entertaining match. Kontaveit probably played her best match of the week, but when Ostapenko is in this form there is no stopping her. It's very encouraging the fact that she only lost sets to last week finalists (Jabeur and Kasatkina). She has the game to win wimbledon but can she keep the consistency to do it? Well she won a slam once so we know she can do it. As for kontaveit what can you say. A really good player but just can't beat the best when they are at their best. And that was evident today from the get go. Still an excellent week for her too. Let's hope these two can do something at wimbledon this year!

I have seen this final match several times and a couple of factors in @Jelena’s game captured my attention. She remained calm when her opponent started to play better. I think that this was an important trigger of her excellent tennis. The other one was the combining of power strokes and playing with less risk when she could.
10 years ago who'd have thought there would be an all Baltic final in a WTA 500 event! Tennis has grown well.

Great. Jelena played here at Eastbourne just like her RG Title run a few years ago. If she can replicate that type of clean & hard striking of balls at the lawns of SW 19, who knows she might be having her 2nd Slam on as many different surface. So, happy to see her winning titles on all three surfaces now - Clay at RG, Hard at Seoul & now Grass at Eastbourne...🤗

Ostapenko has picked herself up off the ground from struggling so much after she won the French open four years ago to really being a dynamic player again. I think she can win more slams. I only wish Kasatkina who started off her career so well and then collapsed can come back strong too. although she lacks the weapons Jelena has..

Ostapenko's serve is still nowhere near a great weapon - kudos to the highlights for showing the 4 consecutive return winners from Kontaveit to break her to love - but at least it's not the liability it was once. With her powerful, clean, accurate shots from the baseline the only think Ostapenko needs is putting the ball in play and not being killed outright by the return.

Ostapenk doesn't believe in rallying..... 4-5 shots then down the line OR (short angle)cross short. It's nice to see her play so well. Kid seemed, for quite a while after the French Open, to drift. She's not drifting anymore!!

I remember watching Ostapenko winning at Eastbourne in 2021 and wondering how a player with such power and precision had only won one Grand Slam tournament. Three years later that's still the case but grass seems to suit her game better than any other surface and if she's going to win another major perhaps it will be at Wimbledon.

Who doesn't know, since 2020 Ostapenko started to be coached by none other than Thomas Högstedt, who was the coach of terrible players like Sharapova and Halep (*SARCASM*), his work is paying off, Ostapenko's deficiencies are gradually disappearing (no double faults this game AGAIN) and her qualities were improved like forehand and backhand. She smashed her opponents in that tournament it felt like training and that we haven't seen since the Roland Garros's victory. Let's look to her in Wimbledon.
