- MMDA said they'll be submitting the plate number of this SUV to LTO for a show-cause order, after the driver failed to stop for enforcers that were trying to apprehend him for a bus lane violation.
A show-cause order is typically delivered to the owner of the vehicle, summoning them to appear at an LTO office, to explain their actions and face the consequences.
Likewise, LTO usually puts an alarm on the vehicle, preventing the registration from being renewed, at least until the situation has been dealt with.
In part 2 of this video, you'll also see riders that failed to stop, or ran away.

The runners should be persued by the police and arrested. The show cause wont work. It wont deter them. And what if they bought the car 2nd hand and havent transferred the ownership? And what if that is an unregistered vehicle? They wouldnt care unless they are put in jail.
And when the owner appears on LTO their excuses is i am not the one driving that car😂🤣i don't know😂

Those who say that the bus lane is a "waste of space" probably just learned to drive yesterday. People who have been to edsa for the PAST DECADES should know how terrible it is to share lanes with buses. Buses load/unload passengers whenever and wherever they want to-- using up 2-3 lanes at their leisure causing worse traffic jams than what we have now.

As a pasenger and driver as well, nakakatakot minsan ibababa ka nalang sa gitna ng daan even though mas pipiliin ko maglakad ng malayo basta safe na itatabi yung bus, pero wala eh madalas noon 2nd lane ibaba na ako bahala na sa buhay.
agree. that's the same reason why sidewalks are turned to parking, businesses, home extensions, etc. kasi "waste of space". idea nila ng useful ay 100% of the time ginagamit or may nakapatong sa space.
As a commuter, bus lanes are the best thing that ever happened so now that I have my own motorcycle I choose to never go to bus lanes for any reason

Having a bus lane is better than having buses swerving across all lanes just to pick up and drop off passengers on the rightmost side like what they were doing before. This causes a lot more accidents. I've been riding along EDSA for more than 10 years and this setup is a lot better.

Running away from the MMDA should be apprehended by the motorized unit and charged for the evasion and reckless imprudence etc. Fined double, DL confiscated, seminar etc
They'll put it on record next time they renew the car basically they'll pay for that fine they avoid and they'll require the license whoever is renewing that vehicle. Which happens every year.

Stupidity and arrogance. They only see empty space but each bus that passes through carries and shuttles 50 people, unlike motorcycles and cars... THATS WHY TRAFFIC WILL NEVER BE SOLVED WITH THIS KIND OF ATTITUDE... hope the heavy penalties will be implemented ASAP!
I just wonder, if they saw the buses in a big line, bumper to bumper, would they say that's a better use of space?
They just can't seem to understand that it only looks empty because the buses are passing through so quickly, without getting stuck in congestion.
And like you say, each bus potentially carries around 50 people.

failure to stop should automatically entail x5 of the prescribed fine and at least 30 days suspension of license. I'm sure that these people will still drive even on a suspended license if they are brazen enough to evade/run away from authorities on a clear cut violation.

in US failure to stop will result jail time.. that is very suspicious that vehicle might be stolen or worse illegal drug transportation
First offense: 15,000 and seminar
Second offense: 30,000 and suspension of license
Third offense: 70,000 and revocation of license

3:04 Edsa is full of wrong road lines, if its an exclusive bus lane, it should have a solid line instead of broken lines. Thats the reality of the roads in edsa. Atleast kita sa video.
Very good for showing it on the video. Ayusin sana ng MMDA yan, sila lead agency na nagma-manage ng road signs, lines sa Edsa. KItang-kita napapabayaan ng MMDA mga road lines.
Preventive is better than reactive. Thats how we prevent accidents to happen.
I hope the changes on the penalty will be implemented as soon as possible.
These type of violations should be automatically reckless driving, and the law or penalties should be changed to heavier fines up to revocation on first offense depending on the acts because it endangers civilians, motorists and traffic authorities on sudden swervings and accelerations to avoid being ticketed.

You should also do a follow-up on show-cause order of LTO. Sometimes (most of the time) violators have government contacts (aka KAPIT).
Lol to that commenter that says the bus lane is a stupid idea. It's incomplete, i think, since its annoying walking up and down the flight of stairs esp for those with handicap and health problems, but I was riding the bus last Sunday and i tell you....the feeling of passing by the huge traffic in front of malls is gratifying! Imagine being tired from work and stuck in traffic for 2-3 hours before? Now you can zoom past that annoying traffic and get home for sleep and rest.
I think those that makes a comment that "Bus lanes are stupid .." maybe are the ones that likes to take the bus lanes with their cars or motorbikes. Raising the fee to 5,000, would defnitely take a bigger hit out their pocket and would deter them from using it. If they get caught violating 3 times, they should get their license revoked for a year or two.
Heres another idea, provide enforcers with a tools that has an electronic magnet. Soon as a vehicle is caught, enforcement will attach the magnet to the vehicle, if they run away the magnet will dig in the vehicle leaving a huge and deep scratch.
They can deny running away even if there no video due to the mark
@Rakrak03 Bodycam will not prevent running away from enforcers. When they know that there a magnet attached to their vehicle that will leave a huge damage if they "choose" to run away, that will stop them. Those who would still do belongs in no other place than jail.

In Europe we have buss lanes, No vehicles are allowed, and it works great - simple minded people, are not looking at the big picture
Prohobit motorcycle in traversing underpass and flyover in edsa, they are allowed only in service road from monumento to moa.
EDSA Bus Lane is just for Bus only not for Private and Public Vehicles including the Motorycycles

Bus carousel now is better than the edsa bus scheme before covid. That is coming from me who has been traversing from Balintawak to Ortigas for more than a decade both using public transport and private car....
What a lot of people dont seem to understand, is if you just drive straight, you will get to where you are going. All of the lane swerving and rushing just makes more traffic.

Other country they have bus lane, once you enter to those lane you get ticket and summons from the court to show up, if you failed to do so you get heavy penalty, suspension and prison.
Bus lane is one of the good things the mmda has done!!
People will use public transport if it faster than private cars. So the bus lanes are a good thing. We just need better and cleaner buses.

I will probably devote a video to the various show-cause orders that have been issued by LTO, on the request of MMDA.

Those drivers who failed to stop should have faced higher consequences, like revocation of their licenses.
With all the cctv and mobile devices available focused on EDSA, it is almost impossible to get away from the enforcers.

They want this to stop? 1) Automatic suspension of license for 1 year, 2) Automatic cancellation of the vehicles registration. And vehicle cannot be registered for a year.

Please make a video update what happened to those drivers that was sent a show cause order and their penalties. I think it would be a good lesson to drivers who thinks little of the consequences of evading apprehension
Could only lawfully put a fine against the vehicle, not the person. Cause in this case you cannot assume who is driving the vehicle.
Based on the wording of previous show-cause orders, it seems that LTO typically make the assumption that the driver is the owner, UNLESS the owner identifies the true driver in their affidavit.
This seems to be a pretty standard practice around the world, from what I've personally observed.
The MMDA also have a photo of the driver, which they could surely compare to the owner.

I know it sounds crazy and dangerous, but maybe with some adjustments it could probably work. Why not switch the northbound and southbound bus lanes. Make it against the flow of traffic so nobody dares to use it.
I know there are still some parts of EDSA where buses need to get out of their lane, but I'm sure they can think of a way, like how they put traffic lights on u-turns.. I don't know, just a thought.

HPG(Hwy. Patrol Group), so where are they?, I have not seen ANY of these people pulling over anyone. Would not be easier to joined MMDA to apprehend "run away drivers". As I said over and over, increase the fine on ALL violators and/or jail time.

The enforcers should have a more high-tech way of apprehending these traffic violators. A combination of high-resolution traffic cameras that take a snapshot of the vehicle and an enforcer should deter these dumb assesses! Filipino drivers by nature lack discipline and basic ethics on the roadways. I know this because I experienced it first hand and my frustrations were unbelievable.😱 Kung makakalusot eh lulusot, then the excuses of " Eh sir baka namam?" or " Sir pasensya na kasi..." or " Kay (name of government official) itong saskyan sir!" or one of my favorite excuse, " Sir nasa ospital ( asawa, anak, nanay, tatay o kaya aso) ko!"🤣 What a pathetic piece of s**t!🤬 But if those same drivers are in another country they follow the rules! What gives?!
