Another show-cause order? EDSA Busway

  • Many drivers and riders were surprised by an MMDA bus lane enforcement operation on EDSA Northbound.
This exclusive bus lane brought order to the chaos on EDSA, reducing traffic and moving commuters faster than ever.
Before, the buses were assigned the outside two lanes, meaning the flow of buses was constantly disrupted whenever a private car or motorcycle wanted to enter or exit the highway.
The buses were also causing a lot of traffic and accidents with their illegal terminals, illegal loading/unloading, racing each other, fighting with other drivers and similar bad behavior on the road.
Locking the buses inside an exclusive lane has benefited both commuters and the drivers of private cars or motorcycles.
The EDSA busway has proven to be an extremely effective public transport program, potentially enticing more people to use the buses instead of their car, which could ultimately help to lower the volume of private vehicles on EDSA and reduce congestion.
If the exclusive bus lane isn’t enforced, it’s only a matter of time before it becomes fully congested with cars and motorcycles, causing the whole project to fail. This would cause major harm to commuters and add to overall traffic and chaos on EDSA.

    Which would you prefer?
A ticket by the side of the road, which can be easily paid through gcash.
    Or..
Show-cause order with alarm on registration?
Because that's what we've seen in the past with drivers that failed to stop or that ran away.
(of course the ideal outcome would be to simply not misuse the bus lane in the first place, meaning you don't have to concern yourself with being apprehended)

Just a curious question, would it be possible to confiscate their driver's license due to rampant abuse of bus lane? I was thinking the pros in confiscating their driver's license is that it will be a total headache for the violators if they violate the bus lane and because of that, it might instill in their head to really just stay on the proper lanes. Cause giving all these tickets won't really stop these violators to violate again on the bus lane. 🤔What do you think?

A metal barrier / fence separating the bus lane would be ideal.

@@ronnienestor They should do it again and proceed with driver education. Other countries can do this no worries, unless the iq level in Manila is not high enough.

HAHAHAHA!

given the complexity of catching the disobedient, I'm surprised that there isn't some surveillance camera system that will detect sinners based on the ID / brand of the vehicle and then just send out fines... such a system has great advantages and the fact that it can be placed practically everywhere where it is needed. I don't know how much is earned on average in this country, but apparently the fines are still very very very small and negligible. According to what can be seen in the videos, everyone else does nothing about it. In our country, too, if a speed radar is placed somewhere in the village, a few individuals may be able to drive there faster, but after a few fines, even the old-timers will be fine. But maybe I just have a bad middle European mindset... 🙃

Show-cause order and immediate suspension of license... Failed to obey traffic rules, failed to stop lastly jeopardize officer's safety

There were two MC taxi riders that failed to stop / ran from enforcers today.
I don't know what they're thinking because when someone runs away, MMDA asks LTO to issue a show-cause order.
That's going to be a big problem for them. Especially if the MMDA also reports it to the MC taxi operator.
They're risking their main source or income - their livelihood, over a simple ticket for using the bus lane.
Not only that, but they're putting themselves AND their innocent passengers at risk.

Should had someone on stand by with a Motorcycle inside and outside the bus lane. Just revoke their licenses. Giving a penalty ain't enough to have them obey the traffic law.

Bus Lane apprehension must have a 3 strike policy with more expensive penalty especially when they Ignore the officers. Bus carries 50++ each moving MORE people and also used for emergency purposes. If they don't understand this then revoke the license, it seems they did NOT take the tests.
