I think it's really underscored how much Kirk and the Enterprise were connected. The Enterprise isn't just a ship, it's a character as well. I remember some Beta Memory quote that Kirk said the ship saved him more times than he saved "her".
From Court marshal " Given the same circumstances, I would do the same thing without hesitation. Because the steps I took, in the order I took them, were absolutely necessary, if I were to save my ship. And *nothing* is more important than my ship."
Aboustley is beautiful; it tugs at the heartstrings. This was the ship of all that I grew up with the most. To watch it blow up in Star Trek 3 was a sad moment. But, seeing you resurrect the Enterprise in an alternate outcome over Star Trek 3/4 is magical. Thank you for bringing the magic back with this. Yeah man. Watching the Enterprise self destruct was really emotional. Nowadays they blow the Enterprise up so much that it doesn’t feel like anything anymore. Smh
Setting aside the impossibility that the ship would not have survived reentry or impact to the extent shown, this is LOVELY. Shatner gets his fair share of criticism for being a ham, but when he says: "Let's see what she's got!" I completely lose it.
but in a way the enterprise being desroyed kind of gave it a finale. because in his universe the original enterprise if it encounters the same evens like khitomer would most likely have to be retired anyways. or the crew gets retired.
If it had happened this way, then what would be the point of self-destruct? Cause if the husk could've been resurrected this way then that would mean the self-destruct isn't very effective lol.
Saw this movie in a theater also. I discovered TOS on VHS. An episode each night! This is MY Enterprise. This is MY crew. That is MY Captain. Captain James T. Kirk of the Starship Enterprise. Way before TNG, I loved THIS Star Trek. T Thanks so for posting this. 🖖⭐🖖⭐🖖
with a multiverse concept probably in a ST universe out there somewhere this scenario happened. david's genesis planet worked and the enteprise survived re-entry and in this universe esteban wasn't ommanding a oberth class ship but a miranda class ship and etc.
Indeed ..... all that plus the etc makes for the greatest collection of "What if" stories that would EVER be told .... and I for one, am waiting for it. :)
@@joeswanson733 .....You mean a Glenn Class Science vessel, eh? Also an Avenger Class Heavy Frigate for Esteban. THE OKUDAS ARE WRONG!!! in everything they wrote. Let's hope that somewhere out in the Multiverse that this is true. See the Cygnus X-1 blueprint database for more information.
There's no way the Enterprise would've been recovered her neck would've been broken and the nacelle would've been ripped off during the fall. We all know what a plane crash looks like. She didn't go like Enterprise D, that was an controlled crash. I still loved this, I got teary eyes seeing the old girl get her wings back!
Just brilliant! I remember when I saw the Enterprise blown up on its original showing on the big screen, and I don't mind admitting, I had a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye. It still does it every time I see it. Watching this, done it to me again. The sincerity of Kirk blaming himself as she falls from the sky in flames. What a brilliant video you have made giving Enterprise life again. Very well put together, and very moving. Big Thumbs Up to you! 👍
I have to say you brought a smile to this Star Trek fans face with this. This is truly a very well done and beautiful project. To see the old girl resurrected from the grave, and reborn is probably the one wish that a lot of fans like myself would have loved to seen happen. And you pulled it off. My hats off to you, and may you live long and prosper.
If it means anything ... from this 70 year old who still remembers watching the very first episode of Star Trek being aired ... this was .... BEAUTIFUL ... Thanks so much.
Great job. I remember seeing ST:TSFS when it came out in '84, and my heartbreak when the Old Girl burned up in the atmosphere. I just wanted her to fall into a stable orbit around Genesis and be reclaimed later. Thanks for your hardworking efforts to bring back sweet memories.
Now, I tell ya, that last flyby at 7:13 is so outstanding. This is what a Constitution-class starship is supposed to look like. None of this obvious CGI, peeling around corners like you're in a _Fast and the Furious_ movie -- in the Original Series films, ships were *ships*, gigantic lumbering behemoths that rumbled past the camera. This _Enterprise_ looks every bit the 950-foot long flagship of the fleet she is supposed to be.
I thought the ship was done fine in the new movies. the CGI was world class. scenes that show off the ship are nice, but realistically speaking if you're being transported up to a ship, it's going to happen really, really fast. you get a lot better sense of scale for the enterprise throughout the entire second movie, into darkness, because you actually get to see how miniscule a person is compared to the enterprise, side by side as Kirk and bones are swimming up to it.
@@iROMine more like "into the toilet." All that movie was a 2nd rate bastardization of the older movie plots. The first new movie was supposed to signal a reboot of the franchise. And it did a totally fantastic job. The subsequent movies were rehashed messed up plots blended in with typical progressivist dogshit.
Strange New Worlds is going a really good job with this: showing off how well a starship can fly, while at the same time showing how big and heavy it is as it does that. Also, this Enterprise (TMP refit) is 304.9m long: exactly 1,000 feet.
Nice! I have to admit that I broke out in a HUGE grin when I saw the original registry number. The Constitution refit is still the best looking ship in all of Star Trek, IMHO. Great job on this!
I didn't expect to be so moved by just not seeing the "-A," even though I knew it was coming. But damned if I didn't well up anyway. There's something about the original registry. Scotty knows what I mean. I just wish there was a way to incorporate the refit bridge, not that slapped together Yorktown trash they were saddled with.
Her death still echoes in my mind, as does Kirk's words. If Genesis wasn't on the verge of exploding, Starfleet would've easily recovered her and restored her once the dust had settled regarding Genesis. You brought this man to tears. It hurt to watch her die again, it hurt seeing her corpse in even worse shape. Seeing her being restored brought the tears, and seeing her resurrected and alive once again sent them into streams. Well done to everyone involved. A great What If scenario and one I, as a fan of the Constitution Refit, will enjoy.
There wouldn't have been much to recover if she had indeed gone down on Genesis. The only chance the hull would survive, would be bouncing off the atmosphere and flying out into space.
When you watch the film, it is pretty clear that the intent was for the ship to pretty much burn up on reentry. The idea of Starfleet "easily" recovering and restoring it just seems kinda delusional to me.
@@jedimasterhorton9933 Well, considering that the next movie has them crew up a entirely different ship, I think my assessment ended up panning out pretty accurately.
A great way to resurrect Enterprise. Seeing her on the surface was heart breaking. But then seeing her in the Space Dock was a beautiful sight. Great edit. Thank you.
Beautiful job with this, it looked real unbelievable real. I'm not ashamed to admit that I got teary-eyed when they pulled NCC-1701 Off the planet. In this clip it soft landed and some what was salvageable. I like the voice change of the captain of the ship that did the rescue. One again nice job thank you from a Star Trek for over 40 years.
I just always have to point out the amazing inclusion of the kind of flub when Kirk first opens his communicator - he has to close it and then open it again! Just kind of gives realism in that Tech is never fully trustworthy. I just love that
I remember the summer of 1984. My eleven years old heart was crushed watching the majestic lady fall to her doom. "My God, Bones. What have I done?" - Admiral Kirk
nicely done. as a septuagenarian, i grew up on ST:TOS, then migrated to ST:TNG and have clung eagerly to every iteration since. Kirk turned 91 this year, rode into space for real last year. We lost Nichelle this year, so now we're down Spock, McCoy, Scott, and Uhura. Like losing family.
I'm a physicist, and am one of the people who are actually WORKING towards Faster-than-light propulsion. I'm now 68 Years old, and do not expect to live to see it actually come to pass. To see it happen before I die would make my life complete!
The "Enterprise"/"Constitution II" - Class Enterprise is still arguably my favorite of the designs. I think they got every other one right (this/A, C, and E). Nice work.
This was simply fantastic. To those who want to say "well the ship wouldn't have survived impact with the planet"...so what? This is a glorious "what if" scenario and IT'S AWESOME! To see them all together one more time, especially now after the recent passing of Nichelle Nichols (RIP dear lady)...ah tugging on the old heart strings big time. My sincerest thanks and appreciation for making this gem.
Magnificent, absolutely magnificent.... still hard after all these years watching her blowing up and going down I have to admit the scene where they show her all rebuilt and ready to go brought tears to my eyes this is really great work as captain kirk said at the end of the episode tomorrow is yesterday.....the enterprise is home.👍⭐⭐⭐⭐
well in the end of the day i's not the ship but the crew that really matters. it's like in the navy today. ships come and go but the people. it's always about the people.
I live in Perth, Western Australia and in the past we regularly had US warships dock at our port city of Fremantle, flooding our city with US servicemen. I remember the Christmas of 1986 when my dad and I saw STAR TREK IV and half the cinema would have been US navy men. When Chekov communicates to Kirk, "And admiral - it is the Enterprise", the entire theater erupted with cheers. I will NEVER forget that moment and it's making me tear up now just thinking about it. My dad is now gone but he passed his love of STAR TREK to me - something I'm forever grateful for.
You brought tears to the eyes of this old trekkie. Bravo. Still pains me to see her burning up at Genesis. If this had been the end of Star Trek IV, I would have lost it even more so than I did. Lotsa love!
That scene from ST 2 always gives me the chills. Also always loved the fact that they brought back the destruct codes actually used in TOS. Great vid, the animation was fantastic
I almost cried......as a star trek PURIST, any of the new DREK is not even watchable. Like guinana NOT remembering Picard....but you, my friend, made this the best episode I never saw. Thanks!
I am 62 years old. Star Trek will always be my all-time favorite science fiction series. I was 18 at the time of the release of Star Trek: The Motion Picture in 1979. I had just received my first pair of glasses after the DMV discovered I couldn't see well enough to get another driver's license. So, with license in hand, this was the first movie I saw with clear vision. I wasn't disappointed from a visual sense. Seeing the representations of all the ships at the fleet museum in Star Trek Pacard, brought it all home to me.
it always tore my heart seeing the Enterprise burning up as it entered the atmosphere. thanks for bringing back the original... no bloody A, B, C, or D!
Seeing this for the first time. Love seeing the original restored. This was as good as seeing the doors on Hangar 12 open in PICARD: SEASON 3 to reveal the rebuilt ENTERPRISE-D. Both are cheer-worthy!
I've always thought that the best scenario for a recovery of the original Enterprise would have been if she bounced off the atmosphere of the Genesis planet and ended up floating somewhere in space. I don't think there would be much left if she crashed on the planet with no structural integrity or AG fields running, I remember reading somewhere that the weight of the individual coil elements in the warp nacelle's is immense, I don't think the nacelle pylons would withstand that kind of crash in a planetary gravity.
Agreed. That's definitely plausible. Maybe she is found floating in space by a Pakled or Ferrengi ship and returned to the Federation during the run up to the Dominion war. Due to damage to the automation system, the self destruct sequence did not properly function and the damage was confined to the saucer section. This left the engineering section mostly intact except for hull scorching when she skipped off the atmosphere. Starfleet's mobilization for the Dominon war includes an increase to their ship repair capabilities as well as reactivation of mothballed ships from depots such as we saw in TNG. They happen to have a Constitution class saucer section that had separated from its engineering section due to a calamity, so they join it to the relatively intact Enterprise engineering section. Perhaps the saucer is even from the Enterprise-A. Additional phaser arrays, torpedo launchers, and shield generators are added, and she is made a part of First Fleet guarding Earth, Vulcan, and core planets under the command of Montgomery Scott. From there the adventures begin.
it would just be better to build a new ship or what they did slap on a new name to a old constitution class ship because i think i read that by the time of the star trek movie era they stopped building constitution class ships.
Don’t forget… The birth of Excelsior was to replace the Constitution class.. I’m sure there was some salvageable parts, but i bet, Mr Scott had a ship waiting to catch the Enterprise flying over the Landing Party, but Took a Klingon bird of prey to Vulcan 🖖. While Kirk was distracted with Spock and McCoy, Scotty was making sure “his” Enterprise was safe and recovered by his salvage crew when they lost the automation system.. Then the old flamed Enterprise returned to Earth by another ship, and went into massive repairs when the Excelsior was operational.. Mr Scott loved the Enterprise just as much as or more than Kirk.
That’s one of the issues I had/have with JJ’verse and Kurtzman’verse ships and storytelling. Planet landing just shouldn’t be a thing with these ships. Yes I realize voyager could make planet fall and atleast they attempted to explain that but I still didn’t like it.
@@tarn1135 if you got transporters and shuttles theres no point of landing your ship or even taking your ship near he atmosphere. we saw in star trek tos tomorrow is yesterday it takes too much time and energy to get ship out of atmosphere back in orbit.
A loving alternative and very well done! 2 things bring tears to my cheeks, dog movies with sad endings & seeing the whole original ST crew together like this....Kudos!
So that's how they crewed all those Miranda class ships, they cloned the crew of the Grissom! But seriously, the animation is top knotch and I'm happy to see you're back! Now we need go see an animation with the "new" and Enterprise-A, whatever it may be!
I once read a parody of Star Trek 5 where Scotty theorized in his opening log entry that Starfleet had just taken the ship they'd blown up, put it back together with duct tape, and gave it back to them. This vid shows how that could have absolutely been the case! Still, love it! Good work!
Love your work on this - coming from an editing background, I can totally see how hard this must have been to produce. I'll always love that scene where the lead shuttle trolls the crew in thinking they are going to the Excelsior before they unveil the Enterprise behind it 🤣
Mawkish, sentimental and boomerish. That said, I'm a mawkish sentimental boomer and this was fantastic storytelling. Seeing the original bridge crew fly the NCC-1701 after the self destruct in an alternative timeline was a thing I never even suspected I would see. I'm going to dub it 'The Hike timeline' and hold it close to my heart! Thanks.
Best freaking Aprils Fools present EVER!!!! "NO BLOODY A!!!" either! The best 9 minutes of Trek I've seen in decades. (Well I did love Prodigy....lol!)
Very nicely done! I’d rather watch this over and over than anything that’s had the name Star Trek attached to it since 2009. Nothing beats those classic actors, that music, those visuals. Beautiful!
Mylex and Hike! You naughty people! You reduced an old man to tears this evening...a blubbering mess. In light of the new 4K DE version of TMP this is just a wonderful and heart string-tearing adjunct! I just loved every second of this and I have sent links to all my Trek-loving friends. Your work NEVER ceases to amaze me! You achieve studio quality from home PCs and it is amazing! I hope the studios (especially CBS and Paramount) see this and offer you the chance to turn your work into a money-making profession. Bravo!
*clap clap clap* Excellent work! I kept thinking that it was a mix of original footage and fan-made CGI, but I guess it’s all fan-made CGI? And the editing! This is put together very well-if you’re not ‘in the industry’ you darn well should be.
I am amused. When they said the autodestruct sequence, my Alexa dot activated when Captain Kirk said " computer ". It did not react to Scotty or Chekov's voice. The power of Captain Kirk. :)
I just discovered these and I am really impressed. As someone who saw all of these in theaters, these recreations are excellent! Keep up the great work you MegaTrekkers you!!
When the Enterprise sacrificed yourself to save the crew. There wasn't a dry eye in the theater. I think that affected everyone more than when Kirk and Spock died. There with no Star Trek without the Enterprise. She was the most important part of the series in the movies. 💖🥰
Superb. Brought me to tears as I still can't bear to watch the scene of the Enterprise being destroyed to this day. We after all lost another major character in the space of two films
This is awesome! I got Walter Koenig's autograph at a Trekkie Convention in the 80's and my family ate at the Star Trek Experience Restaurant in Las Vegas...good times!
This was beautifully done. I always had this idea that during an episode of Voyager they discovered an 'asteroid field' that contained some metallic parts that were definitely Federation. Here it was the remnants of the Genesis Planet, and the metallic was parts of NCC-1701. The matter in the planet made the debris travel at a fast rate, and it could have led to a discovery to help Voyager get home faster. Whacked, but fun.
Chakotay: Captain we are approaching a rather large astroid field. Janeway: on screen *screen views the astroid field* Tuvok: curious, I am detecting large amounts of tritaniam and duranium in the asteroid field. Large enough to potentially be a starship. Chakotay: distance Tuvok: 5000 kilometers off the port bow. Janeway: Mr Paris set course for the debris field, there may be survivors. Paris: Aye captain. *cuts to Voyager navigating to the debris field* Tuvok: we are in visible range of the source. Janeway: on screen. *screen magnifies onto a mostly stripped starship hull* Chakotay: Mr. Tuvok can you identify that vessel? Tuvok: it appears to be a Constitution Class Refit. Tuvok: I am now reading large amounts of Protomatter in the asteroid belt as well. *Janeway turns to Chakotay* Janeway: well now we have a mystery, we need to figure out why….. *Paris interrupts* Paris: Captain there’s something gold in the debris field flying towards us, by the size I would say its the ships plaque. Janeway: have the transporter lock on and beam it aboard, as soon as it is head for the nearest source of protomatter. Paris: aye captain *Janeway goes to the transporter room and sees everyone with stunned expressions looking at the plaque. She picks it up, herself now with a shocked expression. Quietly she exits the room and returns to the bridge* Chakotay: problem captain? Janeway: no Chakotay: did we identify the ship? Janeway: yes Chakotay: well, what was it Janeway *still in shock*: USS Enterprise, Starship Registry….. NCC-1701 *the rest of the bridge crew turn in shock and awe, as Janeway displays the plaque*

Just saw this for the first time. That was a darned good job. The edits of pre-existing footage and computer modeling was fantastic, and the voiceovers were perfectly synced.
While I don't think it is possible the Enterprise would have survived the crash... Let's just speculate she would. This is so amazing and I can see how much love has been put in this 'what if...' Thank you for that, this has brightened up my day!
I wish this is how it had happened in the movies. But, this timeline leaves me with a few questions. 1. How did they get Spock to Vulcan to transfer his Katra from Bones? 2. How could the Enterprise crew go back in time to get humpback whales? 3. If it wasn’t the Enterprise crew, how did the whale probe get stopped? All in all, this was an enjoyable video!
Also, what happened to the Bird of Prey and the one Klingon left on board and why did the Genesis Planet suddenly stop ripping itself apart and return to its original state?
@@ivaneames4354 I can partially explain the latter question. In this parallel reality, the Genesis planet was still ripping itself apart, just much slower than in ST3. That is apparent in the shot where the Miranda class ship is pulling the Enterprise via Tractor beam away from the planet. The night side is lit up with volcanic eruptions. But yeah, quite a few plot holes here.
This is fantastic! All the classic ship beauty shots and space dock scenes with amazing sound score that made me LOVE the motion picture and people who just don't get it say it was a bore.

@@engine22emt I think Gene would like it because he didn't like the Enterprise getting destroyed, especially since he thought the Enterprise crew would be put on the Excelsior, which, in his mind was Harve Bennett's way of taking another element of the Star Trek franchise which Gene claimed ownership of.
The 1979 design is, in my opinion, significantly better than most of the others that we've had in the last 20 years. This was nicely done, though the designer of the self destruct system would probably have some awkward questions as to why the ship not only went through the sequence but then also crashed into a planet, but was salvageable.

Setting aside the impossibility that the ship would not have survived reentry or impact to the extent shown, this is LOVELY. Shatner gets his fair share of criticism for being a ham, but when he says: "Let's see what she's got!" I completely lose it.
Brought a tear to me eyes, I loved this and wish it really happened that way. Good job.
Lots of tears of happiness here. Thank you Hike, thank you.
but in a way the enterprise being desroyed kind of gave it a finale. because in his universe the original enterprise if it encounters the same evens like khitomer would most likely have to be retired anyways. or the crew gets retired.
@@joeswanson733 she maybe but that is another reality that she is alive
Me too
If it had happened this way, then what would be the point of self-destruct? Cause if the husk could've been resurrected this way then that would mean the self-destruct isn't very effective lol.
Saw this movie in a theater also. I discovered TOS on VHS. An episode each night!
This is MY Enterprise. This is MY crew. That is MY Captain. Captain James T. Kirk of the Starship Enterprise. Way before TNG, I loved THIS Star Trek. T

This could very well be the 23rd century's greatest "What If...." scenario, and some of the best editing I've seen in a while. Excellent work! 🖖😎👍
with a multiverse concept probably in a ST universe out there somewhere this scenario happened.
david's genesis planet worked and the enteprise survived re-entry and in this universe esteban wasn't ommanding a oberth class ship but a miranda class ship and etc.
I was just thinking that.
My hats off to you, and may you live long and prosper.
actually it would've made more sense to give kirk a miranda class ship.
@@joeswanson733 HELL NO!!
Star trek fan 51 years and this was Paramount Quality all the way..well done:)))
ILM realized that.
"Come, come now. Young minds, fresh ideas."
Yes sir she's definitely the best looking ship ever!
@@startrekmike uh huh right whatever you say son

Beautiful job with this, it looked real unbelievable real. I'm not ashamed to admit that I got teary-eyed when they pulled NCC-1701 Off the planet. In this clip it soft landed and some what was salvageable. I like the voice change of the captain of the ship that did the rescue. One again nice job thank you from a Star Trek for over 40 years.
I just always have to point out the amazing inclusion of the kind of flub when Kirk first opens his communicator - he has to close it and then open it again! Just kind of gives realism in that Tech is never fully trustworthy. I just love that

@Brandon Taylor absolutely, it was fantastic.👏
nicely done. as a septuagenarian, i grew up on ST:TOS, then migrated to ST:TNG and have clung eagerly to every iteration since. Kirk turned 91 this year, rode into space for real last year. We lost Nichelle this year, so now we're down Spock, McCoy, Scott, and Uhura. Like losing family.

These are the fan films we need. We don’t need all that clever Easter egg nonsense just a good story and a steady ship to steer her by

Janeway: Mr Paris set course for the debris field, there may be survivors.
Paris: Aye captain.
*cuts to Voyager navigating to the debris field*
Tuvok: we are in visible range of the source.
Janeway: on screen.
*screen magnifies onto a mostly stripped starship hull*
Chakotay: Mr. Tuvok can you identify that vessel?
Tuvok: it appears to be a Constitution Class Refit.
Tuvok: I am now reading large amounts of Protomatter in the asteroid belt as well.
*Janeway turns to Chakotay*
Janeway: well now we have a mystery, we need to figure out why…..
*Paris interrupts*
Paris: Captain there’s something gold in the debris field flying towards us, by the size I would say its the ships plaque.
Janeway: have the transporter lock on and beam it aboard, as soon as it is head for the nearest source of protomatter.
Paris: aye captain
*Janeway goes to the transporter room and sees everyone with stunned expressions looking at the plaque. She picks it up, herself now with a shocked expression. Quietly she exits the room and returns to the bridge*
Chakotay: problem captain?
Janeway: no
Chakotay: did we identify the ship?
Janeway: yes
Chakotay: well, what was it
Janeway *still in shock*: USS Enterprise, Starship Registry….. NCC-1701
*the rest of the bridge crew turn in shock and awe, as Janeway displays the plaque*
