    Thank you very much! I just bought a straw hat and was thinking of reshaping its brims a bit so that it curls up in the back and down in the front. You're a savior! This is a really fast and safe method

    I have a seagrass hat that has gotten floppy and flimsy, so steaming is not necessary to "soften" it. It couldn't be softer. How can I stiffen it back up?

    Fab! Can you reshape a hat into a new shape in this way? I had to unpick a hat and sew back together again to fit my extra-large head (60cm!!). Can I steam and sit it on a ball to round the top a little?

    • @ConnerHats
      @ConnerHats  2 года назад

      you may need to add a bit of wood glue and water into a spray bottle if it doesn't work but steaming to keep in in the shape you want but the round top idea using a ball sounds like a good idea to me!

      Hi,
      Many hat makers use steam to shape their straw hats. You can use this technique to shape your hat.

    Is there a way to flatten the brim on a straw hat? I have an open road in straw, and would like to getthe brim nice and sharp

    • @ConnerHats
      @ConnerHats  4 года назад +1

      Hi Yes you can lay a thin cloth on the brim and then iron it.. if it's particularly tough you can steam it first with steam from a tea kettle to soften it.

    Help, my wire broke in my straw cowgirl hat. Anyone know how?

    • @ConnerHats
      @ConnerHats  3 года назад

      Hi Yvonne,
      Usually when a wire breaks in the brim of the hat, they're pretty difficult to mend. You may have to purchase a new hat.

    • @oceanbrzzz
      @oceanbrzzz 3 года назад

      I read somewhere you can sew in a new wire…but I’d probably never get round to doing it. I’d end up buying a new hat.

    • @ConnerHats

    How do I shrink a straw fedora hat?

  • @neillgarber5096
    @neillgarber5096 3 года назад

    Oh when you set that first hat down like that no no no you said it upside down because then it flattens out the shape if you set it down the way that you did
