My grandfather had one of those hats. It was given to him when he was 17. He wore that hat until he died at 87. When you are out in the middle of the fields with your horse and blowing rain, or snow. You need a good hat to stay on your head. This is why quality is better than quantity.

Ephesians 6:10-18 says, Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. The bible is no old book. You have to really let Christ open your eyes; to see the world in shambles. Many people say it's a religion to lock up people in chains, and say it's a rule book.. why? Because people hate hearing the truth, it hurts their flesh, it's hurts their pride, it's exposes on what things have they done..people love this world so much, s*x, money, power, women, supercars.. things of this world. Still trying to find something that can fill that emptiness in your heart. You can't find that in this world.. only in Christ, the bible is no chains, it's a chainbreaker. Breaking your sins into pieces... Repent now, and turn back to the true Lord only.. God bless.

I was in the State of Missouri at a truck stop. The truck stop had a cowboy hat store attached. I went in and found a 5X beaver hat. Guess how much they were asking for it. They were asking 50.00 dollars for the hat. Well, I thought I would be stupid to not buy it. When I walked up to the girl at the till, I asked her "Is this an error?" "What do you mean?" she asked. I replied "It says this hat is 50.00 dollars" "Yes that is the correct price" she stated Not being a stupid man, I shutup and paid her the 50.00 and walked out of the store, filled with joy.

I’d wager a guess, the choice was made based on practicality, availability, and iconography; the design overall is perfect for the frontier, where there’s little to no shelter the wide brim protects the wearers head from the sun, and since it was waterproof it could function as a makeshift bowl, the felt also provided insulation and warmth during the colder months.
Natural fibre clothing industries were at their peak during the time, making accessibility to the hats easy; combined that with the relatively low-cost at the time thanks to the robust fur trade from Canada, a soldier could easily fined a replacement when his Stetson had worn out.
Finally the hat was a symbol of the west even back then, with it’s strong look and being an item synonymous with the word ‘frontier’ it was easily identifiable and became the staple of the U.S cavalry since it was unique among the many units of the military.

The only thing I can think of it that Stetson *technically* sells their own take on it on their website, which is called the "Temple Fedora". But honestly it doesn't look a lot like the hat from the film. It would've helped if the video clarified that Indy's hat is a fedora, not a cowboy hat. But yeah...Stetson never produced hats for those movies. It's really reaching to mention Indiana Jones here.

God bless.

Nowadays cav troopers [myself included] buy their own Stetson as a private purchase item. Nevertheless, it's as much a uniform item in a cav regiment as your fatigues are and it's an ass-whoopin' offense to mess with another trooper's brim.
