My grandpa was a cowboy and would wear hats at any family get together or anything outside, he passed away last year on the 5th, and I started wearing them in his honor, thank you for sharing your knowledge
Trying to get into a straw hat for the summer since I work outside but, I look like a complete dork in a cowboy hat. I had given up until I lucked up and tried on some that fit my head and maybe the crown looked good but the brim was too big for my frame and vice versa. I’ve only seen one or two other videos where the guys explained the things you mentioned, face shape, height and the person’s overall build. Lots of research later, I think I found one. We’ll see what happens. Thanks for the information.
Great video Drake. The only thing that I would suggest is to show your actual creasing of the hat. Your video is a little high to show your actual shaping, and it would certainly help to show the technique that you use. Thanks again.
Okay, from MT, since 70’s- 2010’s it was narrow in front, wide in back. ( my style from then), why did it go to wide up front and narrow in back? Just a question is all. Good work.
New to hats. Live in NW & western hat selection up is pretty awful. Gonna try order online. What’s the crown shape called & which brim shape is that? Or how do I order from you?
Tall cattlemen crown and there not a name for the brim it’s just the shape the bull riders started wearing not long ago and it’s caught on. Only order a hat from the company itself not Amazon or any third party. You’ll need to shell out some geetus for a hat good ones aren’t cheap. Also, please don’t make us look bad lmao jk good luck !
Look up cowboy hat crown shapes and choose the one you like. Each one has a name so it will be easy to get the shape you want and you can add to it also to add your own look to it. The brim can be replicated from J. B. Mauney if your looking for something to compare.
@@drakejones5946 too wide and flat across the front. We used to put some downward curve on at least the front and sometimes the back too. It was also narrower in the front and wider in the back.

Do it and join the party! If you haven’t been to any cowboy events, it’s super fun and don’t forget to wear you new hat! 🍻

Would it be easy to shape my own Canvas Cotton cowboy without experience? They seem stiff and easy to tear.

I shape my own hats all 28 of them
This new way of shaping hats hakes it look like everyone is wearing their hat backwards.
How so?
