While hundreds deserve some credit for their input on this piece, three individuals contributed more than the rest. 1) Dan Vasc, for his wonderful performance in this video. 2) Andrew Lloyd Webber, the composer of Phantom of the Opera. 3) Michael Crawford, the originator of this role, and definitive Phantom.
Dan truly is a power Metal singer with a band called Fearless. He is an amazing singer. The phantom has a horribly disfigured face, hence the mask to cover the scars and lives in the sewers beneath the opera house. He falls in love with Christine the new leading lady who is in love with someone else. Then malicious mayhem erupts. It is quite a story! Hello again Britt. I have SO enjoyed your reaction to Dan's operatic voice. Your face expresses all the feelings I have when I hear him no matter what genre. I am unabashedly in love with his vocal techniques and endless capacities. Unreal!! Also, he does almost all of his own producing from what I have read. You have so much appreciation, joy, and adoration in your eyes and smile as you observe him and I am right with you. Thank you. 😊
Dan has given permission for his videos to be used without worrying about copyright. You don’t need to use the raindrops. As you pointed out, the visual is an important part of the experience. Loved your reaction.
10:30 “🎶You alone can make my song take flight”…yes. The Phantom composed music for the opera house and wanted Christine to sing the lead part. No one else.
So cool, 😎 never expected to encounter genuine first time reaction video to this legendary song ❤ In this way we can appreciate the song for the song’s sake without any background knowledge. Britt, I agree with all the words you said ! Dan is the embodiment of the phantom who can intoxicate and captivate the listeners with what he sings. He sings each word with such delicacy, power and determination. He knows what’s he’s doing that’s why he’s so convincing, even scary. We become what he sings, liberated but “possessed” by the music of the night. Utterly amazing 🎉
If you get a chance to see it in your area or lucky enough to catch it on broadway you should take advantage and see it. Just the music alone would make for an awesome experience.
All of the music of The Phantom is wonderful. Andrew Lloyd Webber. It's a full orchestra. It's being sung by the Phantom to Christine. "You alone can make my soul take flight".
If there’s a singer who can improve any song by making it his own, that one is definitely Dan Vasc. All my deepest respect and reverence to the talent, vision, intelligence, power, sensitivity and love for music that he always delivers directly to our hearts. Thank you for your beautiful and gracious reaction, you caught and experienced exactly the same feelings that we all sense when listening to him, doesn’t matter which song, he’s able to deliver each one the exact way it should be. Much love to you my dear❤🌹
It was so cathartic watching you react to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s composition of my favorite musical. You caught all the right notes. Your intuition for music and lyrical interpretation is spot on!! One of the greatest joys in life is sharing something you love with someone else and seeing them fall in love with it too. Thanks Britt!! Share the music and heal the world 🖖
The author of the original novel is Gaston Leroux of France and artisticallhy has been performed in various ways,, from the disfigured Phantom being a monster to the way Lloyd Webber did it, a skilled Opera singer, horribly injured, but maintaining his ability and romantic tendencies. This song is one of the several seduction "arias" of this piece as the Phantom tries to woo his love, the lead female singer at the Paris Opera House, whose name was Christine.
You can thank Andrew Lloyd-Webber for the atmosphere, lyrics and music. Essentially the story is of a disfigured and murderous man who is infatuated with a beautiful opera singer - a diva, and plots to 'possess her' - she's not so keen and falls for another. It's the classic 'doomed romance' story really. The original features Michael Crawford (a famous UK comedy star) and Sarah Brightman - (Mrs Lloyd Webber), and I think the song was written for her.
Dan's passion is metal. He does covers and has composed his own songs. He has a metal band called Fearless. But no matter what he sings, you know it's going to be unbelievable . Love your reactions to Dan's music.
Love your reactions. Dan could pop up in Theater, Opera, Metal lead, pop, anything and I would go to them all. Thank you. Have you seen son of pain. If not it’s amazing and pure emotion
Britt… One of the greatest versions of this classic number is performed by one of the most well known “Phantoms”… Michael Crawford. He’s from the UK & is very well known for his tv work also, especially in the classic tv series “Some Mothers Do have ‘em” 🇬🇧✋️😂🇬🇧. Those familiar with that tv show will know what I mean 👍😁
@@grandy2875… EXACTLY!!! It’s hard to believe that a guy who played such an awkward, bumbling, yet absolutely hilarious character on tv would possess such a heaven sent voice…. All without complaining about “the cat doing a whoopsie” in his beret 👍😂
My wife and I were in London last September and enjoyed a performance of Phantom at Her Majesty's Theater (now His).. Killian Donnelly had the lead role, at that time. It was exquisite. It has closed on Broadway, but you should certainly make the trip to London to see it. So many incredible tenors have had this role, but the legendary Michael Crawford played it like no other. The Phantom is singing to Christine Daae, his inspiration and love interest.
The Phantom of the Opera has been done as old plays and movies but Andrew Lloyd Webber created the music and story of the Broadway musical that this music was created for. He brought a heart, sadness, romance and mystery to this story with his beautiful music. I've seen other musicals of the play (not written by Andrew Lloyd Webber) that don't touch the feeling this interpretation does. Dan really embodies the character with his beautiful talent. He does a number of other numbers from the Phantom of the Opera on his channel and also performs the part of another character from the play in this collaboration with Alina Lesnik on their "All I Ask Of You" cover on her channel. ruclips.net/video/9PMmqr1vDlE/видео.html I highly recommend checking out all of Dan's covers of Phantom of the Opera music by Andrew Lloyd Webber. He also does covers from other musicals including Jesus Christ Superstar and The Greatest Showman.
The Phantom sings it for Christine Daae. He sings this song for her when he "kidnapped" her in his dwelling under the opera house with his voice. He is her patron who always sings to her at night. And that's why she's getting better as a singer. But the voice of the phantom has a kind of magic that it has succumbed to. There are two good books besides the opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber. First the novel: The Phantom of the Opera. Made by Frenchman Gaston Leroux. The second is by Susan Kay. Here is a description of how the Phnatoom became a tragic, murderous figure. But at the same time, he's still an innocent child inside. I love this book and would recommend it to anyone. One can complain about the fact that it takes the mystical from the phantom, but that's pretty secondary with this book.
I love Dan's voice very much.🥰 And I'm happy about every reaction video. For a lot of emotions and as a Queen fan you could also watch Brian May (Queen guitarist) with "Too much love will kill you". 😪
Please react to Dan singing Nessun Dorma from Giacomo Puccini’s Italian opera Turandot. The performance will give you head to toe goosebumps. The song is one of the more difficult opera songs to sing for the male tenor voice and of course Dan makes it look effortless. ❤❤
I don’t know why I never went and seen the Phantom of the opera. I had seen many other ones and I know it was famous, but I didn’t do it last year. My son was 21 we went to New York City for three days because the Phantom of the opera after a historical run on Broadway was no longer going to have a show every week …….. so worth it. I’m so glad we went.
There is a 1956 black and white movie that I watched when I was a little girl. I pulled it up on UTube. I loved the movie and I loved ❤your reaction. ❤❤❤
A look at Dan's most emotional cover, from Rhapsody of Fire, one of his favorite bands, might be in order. It's the kind of thing he cut his teeth on, it's a band he loves, it's a stirring, slow paced, glorious anthem. Son of Pain ruclips.net/video/RSDq9Z3ZTq4/видео.html
If you watch the 25th anniversary of the Phantom of the Opera with Ramin Karimloo and Sierra Bogges, you will fall in love with this musical. It's exquisite!
Britt, treat yourself and see this show onstage. However, Dan Vasc is the BEST! No one compares. I will tell you, I have seen the show on NYC Broadway, Pittsburg, Toronto, Philly and San Fran x2. Luckily for me I had family friends that were fans, so when I visited, we went!
Seen it live in London 3 times with different singers (first time 1987) and also the movie - Dan blowes them all out of the water. Pls do more Dan and stop with the ”contamination”. U need to at least watch the movie to get it. Thx for the reaction.
I haven’t seen TPOTO musical. I’m probably wrong, but my understanding is the Phantom was believed to have died in a fire and haunts the opera house. He is alive and lives in the bowels of the building, watching, listening and lurking. Christine is a young woman who auditions for lead role (?) and she doesn’t get it. He is singing this to her. Also, he gets angered and causes a chandelier to crash to the floor at some point. Someone will educate us both about the story🙂For more of Dan’s theatrical side, check out Gethasamane (?) from Jesus Christ Superstar and Never Enough from the Greatest Showman
The story line that I have see at the theatre is that the “Phantom” is a man who was brought to the theatre as a child who was disfigured at birth and abandoned. He is raised as a “sideshow” by a very abusive “owner” until he is brought out of that situation and basically hidden in the theatre. He is raised in areas of the theatre where no one sees him. Over time he deems the theatre “his”. He writes the music scores to be played in the theatre. If they are not played or not played to his liking, things or accidents “happen” at the theatre that bring fear to people. A young lady becomes part of the cast and he eventually falls in love with her. He tutors her in her singing but she never sees him. She only hears his voice. He becomes more and more obsessed with her and his love for her turns into madness. So instead of drawing her to him, he pushes her away which angers him even more. In a moment of anger after writing his final script and secretly being part of the production, he burns down the theatre after cutting the chandelier causing it to fall. He plans to escape with his love but instead she rejects him and he disappears before the mob can capture him. The theatre never returns to its glory and the woman he loves moves on with her life.
Please SHOW Dan. Dan, himself has repeatedly stated there is no need to hide him. He WANTS to be seen and we love seeing him. ❤ I love all your reactions! Its been fun watching you, watching him 😅
There is a lot of great music in this show. You should see it, Britt. 🙂 Treat yourself to a stage production though rather than the movie version. They altered some of the music in the movie to be more manageable for the actors to sing. This was a fine rendition! He nailed it.
I agree with avoiding the movie, but the "The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall" is the stage version, recorded for the 25th anniversary and is amazing. While it's not seeing it live, there are some aspects better than seeing it live.
This is a terrible thing to admit, but hearing him sing this makes me "old-fashioned" "swoon".......... he's soooooooo smooth.........out of this world. Okay, had to come back.......to admit, I'm drooling :D Can you believe this was 5 years ago??? Where has he BEEN?
I love your reactions to the songs you show case !!! I myself played music in a band for years with some very talented singers ... I have noticed that you young lady have some very serious pipes yourself ... I bet I'm not the only one of your subscribers that would love to hear you sing something ... J/S
Oh my gosh girl, find you a copy of PotO to stream pronto! The "Phantom falls in love with a girl in the chorus and manipulates the owners into making her a star. This song is him trying to seduce her. For my theater class in college i literally wrote a paper on the debate over whether he was "a lost cause" or could love have saved him. Yes that's honestly a debate among theater geeks. 😆 When you learn his story, it's absolutely heartbreaking. I have seen so many amazing versions of this but i HIGHLY recommend the version with Gerard Butler. He also has a rock music background, by the way. He makes you frightened one second and melt into a puddle the next.
Britt, great reaction! He has a metal band called Fearless, but he loves all kinds of music, and covers many of them. You really should see The Phantom, at least once, if you enjoy musicals. I saw it in Pittsburgh and it was fantastic.
Great reaction. For a performance both beautiful & heartbreaking you should react to Dan Vasc's cover of Gethsemane - Jesus Christ Superstar cover. Hail ❤️🤘✝️
Your reactions would be so much better without the filters! Dan will never copyright claim you, or anyone, so please lose the filters and let us see Dan's videos in all their glory. Aside from that, good reaction! Keep them coming!

BrittReacts Check out either Michael Crawford or Michael Ball singing this classic! .And Ramin Karimloo and Hadley Fraser singing ' Empty chairs& empty tables' from ' Les Miserables' that will grab ur attention!!
The story line ... It's been years but from what I remember The Phantom of the Opera is a 'love' story. He is the ghost of an actor that died in a theatre fire (hence the partial mask) some years before that falls in love with an actress doing that play in that theatre. I believe this is a song of seduction and a declaration of love. Then again, maybe I got it all wrong. It's been a few too many decades and 'I might've gotten high and I missed it.'
He does about 80% metal songs or puts a metal spin on other songs. As far as the plot of the Phantom Of the Opera From his hideout beneath a 19th century Paris opera house, the brooding Phantom schemes to get closer to vocalist Christine. The Phantom, wearing a mask to hide a congenital disfigurement, strong-arms management into giving the budding starlet key roles, but Christine instead falls for arts benefactor Raoul. Terrified at the notion of her absence, the Phantom enacts a plan to keep Christine by his side, while Raoul tries to foil the scheme. Trust me I've seen it prob 10 times, magnificent theatre, watch it!!!
There is a movie adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera if you are not able to see the stage performance. Not quite the same I will admit since I have seen both. Phantom is singing it to Christine trying to convince her to turn away from a suitor above ground who can giv the day time while he can give her music, his entire being and heart. It is the story of who gets the girl, the talented ugly guy who loves her or the attractive, wealthy one that is use to getting everything? Only this time the ugly one has less restraint to social restraint in getting what he wants since he doesn't feel like he really has ever has been part of society.
Oh Britt - you have GOT to see the whole opera! Check youtube channel "The Shows Must Go On" - Andrew Lloyd Webber's channel - every once in a while he will cycle full shows on there. And all your emotions you described are definitely in that song. Who created the feelings? Yes the performer is great but you have to really credit Andrew Lloyd Webber the writer - because so many many great singers have all created those emotions from his songs. The Phantom is singing this to his protegé - Christine Dayé - the young and up & coming new age singer in the Opera - and in a loving way, the Phantom wants to lift her up to success, but in a creepy way he wants to possess and own her. Great story, great music.

@@bobohm21 Nice!
Written by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. The phantom is singing to Christine. Watch the movie with Gerard Butler
If you have a chance, check out Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman in the roles of the Phantom and Christine.there are no better!!!!
I love your reactions to the songs you show case !!! I myself played music in a band for years with some very talented singers ... I have noticed that you young lady have some very serious pipes yourself ... I bet I'm not the only one of your subscribers that would love to hear you sing something ... J/S
You need to watch the movie. The music is amazing and the movie is incredibly romantic.
One doesn't merely listen to Opera, Opera is an experience. Its intended to effect one emotionally.
Great reaction. For a performance both beautiful & heartbreaking you should react to Dan Vasc's cover of Gethsemane - Jesus Christ Superstar cover. Hail ❤️🤘✝️
You really should go see the Broadway play of this. It is absolutely fabulous.
Sara Brightman is the OG Christine, she is amazing
They a song is for all of us 🤩❤️
Your reactions would be so much better without the filters! Dan will never copyright claim you, or anyone, so please lose the filters and let us see Dan's videos in all their glory. Aside from that, good reaction! Keep them coming!
If you like musicals you should watch the movie. It came out about 2004, I believe. It was fantastic.
Can't beat the original, Michael Crawford. Over 1300 times playing the Phantom, the way it should be sung. Side note love all your reaction. 😊
The Phantom of The Opera movie from 2004 (or 05?) With Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum is very good if you want to learn the story. :)
Google the musical for info
The original phantom of ALW, Micheal Crawford (yes Frank Spencer from some mother's do ave em) still sends shivers done my spine

Dan does everything him self
I saw this on Broadway with the original cast…it a was brilliant play…got to meet the cast and ask stupid questions.
You should see the movie version of "Phantom of the Opera" (2004) with Gerard Butler, Emmi Rossum, Patrick Wilson and Minnie Driver.
He's singing to his one true love.
Phantom lives in the sewers and always "fades" into darkness. He's a songwriter and magician. Phantom almost always wears black.
Gran reacción de Uruguay ✌️❤ saludos
BrittReacts Check out either Michael Crawford or Michael Ball singing this classic! .And Ramin Karimloo and Hadley Fraser singing ' Empty chairs& empty tables' from ' Les Miserables' that will grab ur attention!!
If you ever get the opportunity you should go see The Phantom of the Opera! Le Miz too.
Colm Wilkinson another great Phantom
The story line ...
It's been years but from what I remember The Phantom of the Opera is a 'love' story.
He is the ghost of an actor that died in a theatre fire (hence the partial mask) some years before that falls in love with an actress doing that play in that theatre.
I believe this is a song of seduction and a declaration of love.
Then again, maybe I got it all wrong. It's been a few too many decades and 'I might've gotten high and I missed it.'
"You alone can make my soul take flight"
Do you want some metal from Dan? i propose you "Burn Butcher Burn" , a Witcher series cover. You will get thrilled.
You are adorable!
Watch the movie Phantom of the Opera
