Oh yes he has training; he has trained for over 10 years to perfect that voice. He started with Italian, then German, then Portuguese (his native tongue) before finishing in English. Apparently he did this in this fashion to honor as many of his international fans as he could as those are the languages most spoken by his fans. He leaves no doubt this song is Heaven's triumph. Everything he does he does with perfection and power. His ability to gild songs with metal seamlessly without overpowering the original and balancing the metal with the vocals so that both are accessible is something I especially appreciate.

For anyone new to Dan, here’s some additional info…
Dan is classically trained, has a 3-4 octave range, arranges/produces each song, plays multiple instruments, and hails from Brazil.
He has over 200+ covers covering opera, musicals, show tunes, pop, rock, hard rock, and metal.
He did have his own band called Fearless. His brother was the guitarist and the other members were childhood mates. Currently, he is a solo artist. Their EP is available on his channel.
FYI, his dad gave him a harmonica when he was 7 yrs old and it was the first instrument he learned how to play.
Enjoy exploring his channel. As an opera fan, I love his straight cover of Nessun Dorma. It is from Giacomo Puccini’s Italian opera called Torandot. Some other highlights are his cover of Disturbed’s version of the Sound of Silence, Evanescence’s Bring me back to life, Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, Mulan’s I’ll Make a Man Out of You, various songs from The Witcher, and so much more.

@@AlysonDLucca If a musician sings or plays a scale ('do-re-mi-fa-sol-la-si-do') the first and last 'do' are an octave apart. It is called an 'octave' because there are eight notes in a scale ('octo' is Latin for 'eight'). Dan sings very low notes to very high notes, which is the range of his voice. Just count the number of octaves from the lowest note to the highest note. Hope that helps 🙂

Sung this way, this song is NOT a sweet, pretty carol. It's a strong, fierce testament to God's triumph. I can just visualize a fierce choir of angels roaring this out.
You don’t need to alter his videos for copyright infringement. He had given permission for them to be used. The visual of Dan is very important. He is so expressive.
Definitely not being able to see his video clear takes a lot away from the presentation as he puts on a visual performance with every cover.
When a singer's jaw is completely open during a sustained note, we say that "his/her jaw is dropped and locked ", meaning fully open and allowing the most sound to come dramatically and out.

This is the first time I have come across Brittreacts. Fist of all you are impossibly pretty and charming. I have only been aware of Dan for about 10 weeks. I never thought of Metal Music as a valid genre as it just sounded like noise and screaming and I was busy raising kids and there was more than enough noise in our house!! But when Google flashed "Heavy Metal Singer Covers Amazing Grace, my curiosity made me listen to it, totally expecting him to ruin this beloved, reverent song. Dan was like getting struck by lightening. I was left with my mouth open, unable to process what I had just experienced. I played it again right away and was even more in awe. What a tremendous gift he has been given and perfected and he cannot possibly understand what an impact he has had on the outside world. On top of all this, he is an especially warm-hearted being. How lucky we have been blessed with his brilliant music. #newheavymetalfanthankstoDan.☺

Love your reaction and your comments. I only recently discovered Dan Vasc and I'm finding I can't get enough of his music! I'm sure others have already mentioned this, but the first verse was in Italian, the second was in German, the third in Portuguese and, of course, the last in English. The chorus is always sung in Latin. "Gloria" is the Latin word for "Glory." "In exceslis deo" is Latin for "God in the highest." So the chorus is basically 'Glory to God in the highest."

I first heard this in the opening of FNT's Christmas stream about a year and a half ago. It was GLORIOUS, and really set the Christmas mood for that stream.

Sometimes for me, hearing Spanish, French, and Italian is harder to distinguish what language it is because they are a group of languages called romantic languages. We speak English, that is a group called the Germanic languages, such as English, German, Swedish......
