Something you missed, axe accuracy is much greater now. This helps make your axe units viable, but also actually buffs the scores of early axe enemies too. Its part of the reason for the large base stat buffs on many of the early units.
@kratosmvn_ its especially relevant because 6 uses true hit for its actual hit calcs. So going from 25 to 50% is like 40% more likely to hit rather than the 25% it reads as
The sprites are all less saturated as a form of color correction. Gba games, especially the earlier ones, had super saturated colors to compensate for the lack of a backlit screen. Also, emulator do offer a color correction mode if you look around in the settings.
That's the term I was looking for lol, less saturated. Yeah, I need to check out color correction mode probably, but I've seen some people play with it, and I'm not 100% sure about it. Gonna have to test it out for myself.
@kratosmvn_ Its a bit complex because some games don't necessarily look better with the color correction on. The castlevania games definitely do. Some post gba sp games even offer different color settings in the game, like final fantasy tactics.
@BigmanDogs yeah, it's case by case, really. I guess personally I like how FE7 and FE8 look, but it's just certain color choices in FE6 (mostly portraits) I don't like.
Project ember looks very cool! Although I am not a huge fan of inflated starting stats on both sides, I like my FE when we start with small number that we see growing
I agree in concept, although I think you could make the argument that the logic behind it is that if you rely on one unit too much they'll hit their caps, at least that's the only reason I can think of.
Predicting it now, the increased bow range is gonna come around to bite you because you'll end up forgetting about it and place a pega knight or someone squishy in a precarious situation :3
My main problem with Project Ember is that i feel like they over-buffed all the units. Like Roy is now insane. Last time I saw Project Ember eas when it was first released. I'm hoping that now the enemies have been buffed to match the units sk they don't stomp
Yeah, from what I looked through in the video the units do feel very strong. The first map itself wasn't the biggest challenge, but I guess we'll see if things get tougher down the line now.
Ooh! A mod, this will be interesting. Have you seen the new one that just recently came out in Beta for FE Fates? That's another one I think I'm gonna play...
Roy got heelies, ready to nyoom around the battlefield ! Excited for this new series (I love fe6 despite its flaws), and I do enjoy the voice acting :D
Pumped for this series. I have played the fe7 conterpart project anima(i believe same creator not sure if i am miscrediting) and it was great. Good luck!
I played FE Binding Blade long time ago up to Chapter 2 or 3 probably. I've started playing it using this Project Ember romhack. It looks much better and it's more balanced.
I really appreciate your production value on these videos, especially the in depth redesigns. I think out of all of Roy's buffs the biggest one is +2 movement lol
I love what they did with the portraits and sprites, but I don't like some of the gameplay changes. Ngl, seeing base Roy with all that movement rubs me the wrong way. I know he's a liability in many maps, but they buffed him too much. Is there a patch that only updates the graphics? I'm happy with my mostly vanilla FE6 (just some small tweaks I made for personal use, like giving weapons the FE7 values and making Cecilia better), but I'm hopeless with graphics. That said, your runs are always a good time and I'll continue watching. I'm genuinely curious about what they did with Guinivere so I can look forward to that.
The visual upgrades are great for sure. I understand the gameplay changes aren't for everyone, I usually enjoy vanilla FE6 too, but some time it's nice to try something different. I'm glad you enjoy the videos and thank you for sticking with the series :)
I’ve played through both routes of this romhack and it’s easily one of the most fun experiences I’ve had playing a hack. It should be viewed as it’s own game rather than trying to compare to the original. It’s a great time!
Haven't played far enough yet, but that's what I seem to get from the comments. People view this as its own thing because the gameplay feels so different
I beat project ember and fe 6 hard mode, and while I'm more inclined to play fe6 vanilla, the animations of project ember, namely the paladin sword animations, are significantly better
Is there a mod that makes the weapons hyper realistic. As in unless you parry or dodge one hit kills pretty much every unit. Anyone crazy enough to make that version.
It rotates around a lot, but some of my most common picks would be: Dieck, Zelot, Lilina, Gonzalez, Larum, Echidna, Zeiss, Melady and like Geese. But it does vary from run to run.
No, project ember is a completely different game than fe6 honestly, it “fixed” everything that made fe6 into such a classic. I way much prefer playing the original. So don’t say it’s better.
I do agree that it may feel different, I can't assert that at the moment as I've not played enough, hence why the title of the video is framed as a question and not a claim. And as much as you're allowed to love the OG game more and express that opinion in the comments, please refrain from ever telling me what I can or cannot say when it comes to my opinion as to what is better. Thank you.
@@kratosmvn_ I’m just saying that it really is a different experience so you can’t compare it to fe6 and say it’s better or not because it’s not comparable. These games are only similar in story and saying that it’s a better version of fe6, even if it’s a question, is not the right thing to say.
You can compare them as you can compare any two FE games despite their differences. The mere act of recognizing those differences is part of comparison. There's no question of right or wrong here.
They did a great job in terms of colors and animations. Balance changes are also mostly good, but other changes... its just too much..... some story changes, crap ton of new very specific recruits.... they way too hard.
7 movement on the go for a Lord is BS. Most lord units having a bad start invites you to explore your other units. Either "babysit" your lord or play around it just keeping the lord alive. If your initial unite is too competent on the go you can rush the entire game on unintentional SoloRun. This is why I hate Avatar Units, they feel like selfinsert power fantasies. Avatars start good and become OP in record time, Lords should not be strong early game.
I remember when I played fe6 I saw Lance's stats and was like "ah yeah, D in lances, makes sense" and then I saw Alen had the same and I was mad. Admittedly a very flawed game, unsurprisingly since it's the first GBA one, so I had high hopes for Project Ember. Poor Bors especially, lance-locked when he needs training and all the enemies are axe units, so swords is huge for him. They really did buff everyone so much though, it almost feels weird seeing a competent Roy, even if he was constantly in threat of being two-shot.
That's fair! I'm not far enough to safely assert that myself, but I'm seeing it as an opportunity to re experience FE6's story through a different gameplay lens.
After playing project ember a decent amount Roy is too strong. I got a super speed screwed roy which had like 3 or 4 less speed than average at lvl 15 but still was one of my best units and then as soon as he promotes he becomes borderline unkillable besides stray horse slayers (which are not common). Roy is way too over buffed. If he got the same speed growth he would probably be still strong but not as overwhelming

I have my fun with this hack since it makes all units viable but it feels kinda weird to play it. I don't know how to explain

my main issue with project ember is that they made the enemies way too fucking strong. not every enemy needs to have a fucking silver or brave weapon

What is worse about project ember
@@BigmanDogs I think it changes to much about the base game so it no longer feels like fe6
