$913.88....in BRITAIN.....WITHOUT stand or drive. Its expensive. To put that into perspective I can upgrade my PC to a USED 5800X3D AND a USED RX6900XT for that.
I cannot justify spending $700+ on a system refresh with minimal upgrades and feature cutbacks, especially with the way Sony has been running itself lately. By all means, people can go out and buy whatever they want if they can afford it, but I believe $700 can be better spent elsewhere these days in this economy.
I think it’s too expensive but that’s just my opinion which I’m entitled to. How do I fee about people that want to buy the PS5? I couldn’t care less! If you afford it then fair play to you. It’s your money and you are free to spend it on whatever you want. That’s how I see it.

That's why it will go on for years.
In the US is expensive but not that hard of a buy, in the EU, Britain and Japan is just a hard buy. In the US it feels like is a little too much for a console but in other places it feels like is too much in general.
@@TordanPidgesater Yeah, I get that, and it's a good phone, but my point is you need that phone, and adding more money to get a better one can let you take better pictures or videos of things you see during a trip, to use an example, or let you have more space for them, edit video faster, or do a lot of useful things on the go. You can spend more money on a better car, and maybe now the car has line assist, park assist, and it's a lot more safer, so you can avoid spending money because or small mistakes, or, NOT F*CKING DIE in a car accident. This is why the comparison between phone, cars and gaming consoles are so dumb. If you want compare a gaming console to something that you may spend a lot of money on, that's a computer (like a PC or laptop, because technically a console is a computer), because both do gaming, but then again, in 2024 you need a computer because it does far more than a console. No one needs a console.
It IS that expensive. 700 dollars for a gaming system. It might not be expensive for you but for the vast majority of people it certainly is if you pay attention. Also a phone is expensive but my job and a bunch of other peoples job requires a smart phone- not to mention it’s almost crucial to own a smart phone living in the modern world to keep in touch with family and friends- a playstation 5 is not. Look beyond your fanatism.
Not to mention most people don’t go out and buy a phone full price on the spot- they are leased and sold on bundles or deals along with payment plans- that people go for since it’s their only way to afford a phone. Oh and 700 dollars is affordable to people in america with a decent job- but not for the rest of the world my friends in mexico have really good jobs and a ps5 pro is absolutely unaffordable for most of them. It’s overpriced and aimed at a very niche audience.
it's NOT that expensive. basic iphone is expensive, everything in tech is more expensive. new nvidia gpus are way over 1k and only 20% faster than last gen. this is 200$ more than ps5 base and you get 4k60 aim.
@@HiCZoK That explains why Hogwarts Legacy ran at 30 FPS when they showed it off. The 60 FPS has always been a lie and will always be from the console manufacturers. It will be the PS4 Pro again, offering 30 for the "nice graphics option" and a staggered 40-60 for the few everything else that is "upgraded" Expect close to 60 fps from First Party, and then a half assed port with old Ray Tracing tech and locked/sub 30 fps from everyone else. Just for a $250+ price increase this time around instead of a $100 one. Keep in mind new Nvidia GPUs that you claim are priced higher blow the PS5 and Pro out of the water in terms of performance. Sony always moves towards "grafix" over performance, and that isn't going to change anytime soon. The PS5 Pro demo proves it.
The problem is that it's bad value for the price. It's close to $900 with tax and all the upgrade but can do a fraction what a $900 pc can. Not to mention you still have to pay monthly subscription to play online whereas it's free on pc. Also a pc can do so much more than just play games and pc games are much much cheaper. The reason nobody speak positively about it because there's nothing positive to talk about.
@JamJam0189 I don't think is a big risk for Sony. For it to be so expensive it probably means Sony are pulling a Nintendo here and not subsidizing the hardware. This means that they don't really care whether it sells well or not since they aren't taking a risk on it. I think they just treat it as something extra that raises their value to a certain demographic while still seeing the normal PS5 as the hardware they really want people to get.
Well the can do a fraction of what a $900 PC can to is debatable because you assume people that will want this are interested on other factions of a PC and not just games. Someone that only cares about having a gaming device can find this as a better bargain since a 900 PC won't be as powerful even though it can have more factions.
@Codyslx because a ps5 pro its a fucking console bro lmao, Playstation it's console videogame and media ecosystem, nobody it's saying ps5 it's a fucking pc gaming lol, we are saying that it will move games like a pc gaming not that it will be a pc gaming bro

@@DribbleP Can you mod your Ps5 games? Can you access your video and music library from your phone, secondary PC or friends phone? Can you record music on your Ps5? Can you pick and choose level of detail settings? Can you run 4k without upscaling? What about additional storage drives, of any variety? What about older games(not even taking emulation into account) or mouse and keyboard support. It'd be hard to match the performance at $700, maybe impossible, but $700 is a good start and you could match the normal Ps5 for $700 easy and then upgrade it down line, especially after the launch of the next GPU generation when prices go down on the last gen. $700 seems excessive for something you're locked into and only plays games.
It is expensive. You are talking about a console at £780 (with disc drive) in the UK when we are facing more energy price hikes like the rest of Europe and record highs with inflation. They are going to launch this targetting families for Christmas, aiming for children. Personally, I'll keep my PS5 standard and use my 4090 to smoke this. So its got nothing to do with being able to afford it, I just don't like being insulted by Sony when they want me to spend this sort of money for what is a minor upgrade. Now, had they pushed the VR2 I would be all over it, becuase that paper weight is sitting here gathering dust.
Offering different levels of a product is not insulting. If you don't want it, no problem. The base PS5 is amazing. The PSVR2 DOES need more games. And different genres of games. That I agree with you with.
IKR these people are brain dead. pC iS ToO EpEnSiVe ......goes out and buys a OG model then a Limited edition model and a Pro LOL. Console only people will always be plebs.
Well that is a $5000 PC. So a very expensive machine, not just any PC. Of course with all the money he pays for games and consoles he could built one but it means he will have to not get all those games he enjoys etc and that is i assume a sacrifice he doesn't want to do therefore he considers it as not being able to afford the $5000 PC even though technically he could.
Not expensive for a launch system with hardware that matches the price, but expensive for a mid gen refresh where the jump isn't as big and when there should be a price decrease and value propositions for the current console but we're getting the opposite.
@@sirvern7825 PS5 400$ and PS5 Pro 600$ would be more reasonable but honestly the pro shouldn't exist. @@DribbleP According to Cerny, no, since the PS5 audience prefers Performance modes "three-quarters of the time" over Fidelity modes. In other words, audiences are fine with high performance targets at lower resolutions and graphical cuts. I think most of the problem indeed stems from things not going down in price. I never bought a PS4. When I wanted to buy a PS4 Slim, PS4 Pro was anounced, so I waited for that one. It was especially nice, because when it released, it got the price of the original PS4 and the PS4 (Slim) was reduced. It's not so much the (relative) difference between the PS5 and the Pro, but because the PS5 doesn't get a price-reduction, the PS5 Pro gets a price bump. And gets hardware pulled out of it (disc drive). I expected, with the consideration that things have become more expensive, the Pro to be max 650€ with the disc drive included. A disc drive in my country is around 120€. And I need a disc drive, because most my games are physical. Same for the PSVR2, just way too expensive at the moment. I could live with it during it's initial release, as I wasn't in a hurry. But I expected a bit of a price reduction when the Pro will be released. I don't own a PS5, and if the Pro doesn't get a pricetag that is more affordable for me, I will be skipping this generation. And probably quit console gaming all together, if this money-hungry business is keeping that trend. Then I'll enjoy my PS3, PS4 and PSVita for the remainder (maybe even my PS1 and PS2). I borrowed a (digital) PS5 from my nephew the last 2 weeks. And although it is nice, especially the controller, I'm not that much impressed with the game-offerings, that would make me want to spend that much money, while I can still even enjoy my PS3 and PS4 games. The PS5 Pro is for me, but not just at that price. I'm unfortunate enough to be in a situation that I can't generate a decent income. Gaming was kind of an escape for me, but now even that isn't on the table anymore. [Btw: Not as a stab at you, but those 'stop being poor' jokes people are making the last few years, are really disgusting and disrespectful. So pay 700 for games you’ve already played. Now with better frame rates. I’ll pass. Don’t preach other people about what’s expensive what’s not expensive. If you want to buy go ahead.
The $700 price point isn't the issue; it's the value proposition. The PS5 Pro isn't worth $700 because it doesn't offer $700 in investment. You brought up expensive phones, and you're right-they're pricey, but they provide significantly more value to consumers. The same applies to PCs. You could build a $700 PC, but with a bit more investment, you’d get far greater value. The PS5 Pro feels similar to Apple's VR solution, which is outrageously priced and a complete flop.

You act like $700 is actually all it cost. You can't ignore that monthly fee if you want to play online, the absurdly priced games, the complete removal of components a $200 cheaper version offers and the fact Sony gets substantially more money from games compared to pc. Their fees are why consoles have historically been sold at a loss. Not only that, it has been 4 years and there still hasn't been a reduction in the cost of this gen of consoles. We are at a point when you can spend very similar money building a pc and get ps5 pro performance with cheaper games, no monthly fee to play online and freedom to use you pc to do other things. One thing people don't take into perspective is that you can still enjoy and play PS5 games buying a regular PS5. The PS5 Pro is for people who are willing to pay the extra money to get a mild graphics upgrade. You don't HAVE to buy it to play PS5 games. Is it too much money? Yes. Is it that big of a deal? No. It would be a COMPLETELY different story if the base PS5 was $700. With all that being said, if they made the PS5 Pro in a similar vein as the launch PS3 where it was backward compatible with all previous gens, I don't think everybody would've complained. Can you imagine if PS5 Pro could play PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4 AND PS5 games? That would've been incredible.

You do not need a 120hz tv to get a benefit from the PS5 Pro. Any game that has an improved resolution or clarity will still look better on any 4K TV. Also, the PS6 will absolutely offer a disc drive. It will just be optional like it is with the Pro. Sony is not going to walk away from 25% of their customers who still want physical games. They will offer them an option.
If the PS5 Pro can do 1440p 60FPS, HDR, Raytracing, and at high settings. Then $800 including the disc drive is justified. I have a RTX 4070 Super which cost $600, this card is capable of doing of what the PS5 Pro can do. But with the PC I have to have a monitor, CPU, PSU, motherboard, RAM, CPU Cooler, Computer Case, windows 10 license etc. this is gonna cost more than +$1500. Not only it’s more expensive, there’s a lot of technical no how, a bit of troubleshooting etc. sometimes people just want to pay for a dedicated plug and play console, buy the game and begin playing and not have to deal with a PC. A lot of people just see the price and not think about okay, why is it that price and what can it do that the PS5 can’t do. (it can fix FF7 Rebirth Performance mode for example) the PS5 Pro is not for everyone but for the dedicated PlayStation users who would love to harness the power of higher frame rates, raytracing, better render distances, sharper image quality with PSSR.
a 2tb SSD is almost 200. I was also looking to get a second console, so this is great news. Gonna have to get a new monitor as well. I think the PSSR visuals are going to vary based on the development teams. FFVII Rebirth looks awesome with the atmospheric glow. Hogwarts Legacy looked super fancy with its reflections. A sizeable portion of my library are retro style games, with chunky pixels. Not expecting much out of those. It would be interesting to see a PS4 era Souls game running on PS5 pro.
Where are you buying your ssd's from? There are many really good nvme ssd's well under $150 and closer to $120. I paid $110 for my 2tb 990pro. Sales happen all the time but sub $150 ssd's are every day. lol
@mrcrunch8000 Not with the speeds you need. Plus, this is their custom chip on the mobo. They recommend at minimum a 5500mb/s nvme. And most just say up to that get cheap. The recommended is 7200mb/s as the raw minimum speed of the internal nvme on the mobo is 5500mb/s. Also, what aren't people complaining about the 2tb series x that cost $600, without performance gains?
@@aaronsmith7143 Those exact speeds are met in the price range I mentioned. In addition to that the built in ssd doesn't even meet 7200mb/s. Google is your friend and almost across the board all ps5's show between 5500-6500mb/s. That's exactly why all tests using drives with 5500mb/s speeds perform just like the internal drive. You should look in to it a bit so you understand what is going on and understand why some drives rated even slower show zero loss in performance. It isn't all about sequential speeds either. Now with your xbox comment, people did complain and not only did they complain they didn't buy it. Let's also not forget the disc drive and the fact the series x uses a more expensive apu than the ps5. Even if the pro uses the same node the die size would be very similar to the die size of the apu in the series x.
Totally agree with you. Its so much less than what you pay for a phone or a tablet these days like you said. I think the price overall is like a $300 markup at the end of the day because it doesn't include a disc drive or stand which is silly. But some of that is offset by the higher performance, double the internal storage, and AstroBoat which is like $60.
Sony milks you so hard jacking up the price of everything and you can't defend it. I bought a pc, and I am sticking with it. Sony refuses to drop prices stop releasing games. This generation is a bust. Millions of dollars wasted turns into milking consumers. Ps5 pro doesn't need to cost that much. Sony doesnt want to lose money on console sales. Controller sales and everything. They jack all the prices up and you defend it.
@@sirvern7825 The issue with ps5 pro is it has newest gpu generation in it for high ray tracing. So at the moment we are waiting for amd to release that generation to the public. It's called rdna 4 or rx 8000. Intel releasing cheaper gpu and nvidia will need to compete. Cpu hasn't changed and 3700x is cheap. You can build a pc close to ps5 pro. It's not about money for why I don't buy Sony. It's principle when you mess up you don't jack up the price of psn to play online controllers that have stick drift still cost 5 more dollars. Meanwhile they could add hall joysticks. Sony doesn't care about adding value only price to everything they have. Only reason they drop price of psvr2. Because people refuse to buy it. It's crazy how if you didn't buy it and told them no. You would get it cheaper. You just accept it meanwhile sony says we can charge this much because they have no competition. So it's up to consumers to fight against the price.
@dkozzzbeatz8079 Back when ps3 was that much, it had a built-in ps2. They raised the price of everything recently. Please use common sense and do your research.
For those of you who don’t want to video edit 3d work or anything like that you can make a really good pc for even under 600 bucks of pure performance and you can always torrent games on pc
After the PSN outage yesterday, I WOULD NOT suggest getting a digital PS anything! Physical games may be a dying format, but it sure comes in handy when the network is down! 😉 Good video, by the way.
I know people who were planning to wait until the PS5 Pro dropped and they've changed their minds when they saw the price, and will be getting a regular PS5 or Slim instead. Consider the fact that in some markets, it is already over $950 without Taxes, like it is in Canada. Going all in with the stand and disc drive brings it at around $1100 CND! So yes, it is expensive, and it edges out potential customers in markets like these. Sony isn't doing themselves any favours.
I understand the argument that of being invested in an ecosystem, however it's just one system that doesn't rely on other things like say Apple. You do not have to sell your PlayStation, it isn't like you'd lose what games you already have. Also people who make enough money can do whatever they want with their money sure. But the value of spending just a little more on a $1000 gaming build is insanely better. Backwards compatibility is a non-issue. The game library of PC is unmatched, even more so if you count emulation for older consoles and that Sony is bringing their IPs to PC. Upgrading a single piece at a time depending on what aspect you're looking to improve or repair is a more flexible consumer friendly system. Desktops can be used for work, notes, web browsing, more powerful content creation, having an offline music/video/image/game library, way more storage space and options, multi window tasking, etc. If you argue that price is no downside for the person that can afford it then PC is the epitome of that, if you wanna spend money you can, if you don't you don't have to. There are people with $150 gtx 1060 cards made in 2016 that can run the brand new Warhammer game.
People who say, just buy a PC, just don't understand what it's like to be in an ecosystem. I have 125 games, that includes 17 games in my backlog and more than that in my replay pile not to mention PS+ extra. So ~40-50 or so games I have at no added cost. That's years of games I'd have to rebuy on PC if i went to PC making PC more expensive.
I have a very similar look on all this, I still have a ps2 ps3, ps4 pro and ps5 I work on my own systems, have duplicates of systems to replace parts etc. and I don’t plan on buying a ps6 either if it goes full digital. So technically the ps5 pro could very well be the last system I ever own. I’ll be considered a “retro” gamer.
I've never spent a dime on Fortnight, and I have only purchased about 3-4 special editions in my entire life, the most expensive one being 100 dollars which came with a ton of stuff. I already have a PS5 and there is just no compelling reason to buy a PS5 pro at 700 dollars without a disc drive. It's not that I can't afford it, it is just a bad idea. I collect new consoles, and I would have purchased a PS5 pro just like I purchased a PS4 pro if the price difference were between 50-100 dollars, and it came with a disc drive. I am not buying less for more. I don't know who Sony is marketing the PS5 Pro to, but I suspect it is not life-long gaming fans who understand value propositions.
@@sirvern7825 You could be right, but I am very skeptical that this will be successful relative to other PlayStation models. @@RichyLBE I did say it's expensive and not for everyone. But a powerful console with 2 TB of storage isn't going to be cheap. How much would be acceptable to you?
You have a point, I bought PS5 on launch also, then upgraded with 1TB WD SN850 when Sony started to release the firmware to enable M.2 slot. That M.2 SSD I bought for $230. I think many other RUclipsrs acknowledged that many hardcore audiences will buy the PS5 Pro no matter what, it's just the average gamers may turn off such high price. We already have a mindset that console should always be value-oriented and now the PS5 Pro seems to break that trend. This is not the 1st time Sony did this, we know the PS3 launch history but that console comes with many features unusual for a console at the time (HDMI port, bluray disc drive, multimedia card reader, bluetooth, hdd, wi-fi, etc.). I expect PS5 Pro will do just fine in terms of sales, it may not sell as well the base model but i'm not expecting it to be a failure. Spending $700 for a mid-gen refresh for slightly better tree model in Spiderman or smoother framerate in Fidelity mode is not gonna entice many gamers. The base model PS5 seems run just fine and that's what matters. Future games will surely push the PS5 Pro more, I expect games like FF16, Stellar Blade, and Black Myth Wukong will have a patch to utilize that extra horsepower for better details and framerate. For me I will wait and see what more PS5 Pro can offer in the future.
I bought an LG C9 because it had 4 hdmi 2.1 ports on it. I was future proofing for the PS5 and Series X. By the way I still use this TV with no burn in.
I'm with you I game every day on my console. People are over reacting. Not to mention I can get at least $200 for my PS5 that brings the cost down to $500. I don't need a disc drive
Anyone complaining about the PS5 Pro price is entitled. Gaming is a premium hobby. You're not entitled to it. You got lucky, and were born in a first world country where we can experience things like this. The consoles are made for people that have money, and that arent struggling with their finances. It's not like you're locked out of next gen. You're simply not the target demographic. Dont worry about these negative comments. These people are straight up npcs.😂 Most of these people probably payed for a PS5 and arent even playing on a t.v that utilizes that. You pretty much have to spend top dollar to experience the current generation, but most of these normies probably cant even fathom that. T.V companies will make a better version of a t.v every year, and I dont see the normies coming out of the woodwork complaining about that. If you really think about it. When it comes to any product, you could pick up overtime, or get a side gig for two weeks to a month, and easily come up with the money for something like this. On top of the entitlement people are straight up lazy.
$700 is too expensive. Sony has tried pricing like this in the past (the original PS3 model) and it did not go well for them. That old quote seems relevant here... Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
Agree and disagree with some things you said but the main reason why so many have a problem with it is ultimately the price and what it offers over the base PS5. I dont think the reveal with Mark Cerny was very good, they showed mostly first party games we have played and beat. FF7 Rebirth was the only game that stood out the most as looking improved. Look at how Nvidia reveal their new GPU's they show collaborations with transformative visuals or build a demo that blows your mind showing the things the faster more powerful product can do. Lastly the PC comparison. It's too damn close to building a PC that can offer similar if not better level of power with more mature features and thats a PC which can do way more than consoles can, even if you were to focus on just gaming. $1000 RTX 4070 PC. I don't blame you for wanting to buy it, I get it, I bought a 4090 day one lol. These are enthusiast level products but for consoles that can be a harder sell.
You are paying $700 for something a $300 GPU does MUCH BETTER! They also make you pay $80 for a Disk Drive? Meaning it is one more step towards the day that you can only buy digital, which you don't own, and they can update at any time, taking features out?.... People defending this makes me sick to my stomach. Actually making Video Games worse.
I agree! Many are fast to drop a grand over a phone when theirs last year works just fine, but then like to complain about having options just like is happening now with the Pro. Nobody is forcing anyone to buy them.
Someone that uses logic. Rare on social media nowa days. People jump on trends. Negativity sells. I put in atleast 1000 hours on playstation each year (that yearly stats they send out) So its a easy buy for me. They shouldve added the stand though. Simply for convenience.
People also jump on trends of having the latest and greatest tech. Also if negativity sells then I guess my opinion isn't real even though it's how I really feel. This current thing where if you have an opposing opinion, you're just a grifter.
*This is what I said in some other videos yesterday.* But I'll spice it up, so I'm not just copying and pasting what I said yesterday on other videos. So, I'll give what I wrote yesterday some more flair. LOL! But this is my take on the PS5 Pro pricing. The Pro is a luxury, baby. Think of it like this: the PS5 Pro is the fancy sports car you drool over, while the standard PS5 is the reliable sedan that gets you from A to B. Both will get you there, but one's gonna turn heads. For example, the same goes for the RTX 4070 and 4080 on PC. The 4070 handles games like a champ, but the 4080? That's for those extra frames and bragging rights. Oh, and potentially a new power supply - that's the price of beauty. Your trusty PS5 will keep chugging along through the next wave of games. But if you've got deep pockets and crave the absolute best graphics when GTA 6 rolls around, the PS5 Pro is your golden ticket. Sony's not new to this pricing game, either. Remember the PS3? That bad boy launched at a whopping $600, causing more uproar than the PS5 Pro ever could. It might have been the black sheep of the PlayStation family, but it still outsold the Xbox's golden child. (360) Imagine if the PS3 landed in 2024? We'd be looking at a $950 price tag today! That's $250 MORE than the PS5 Pro. Ouch! Sony's got a plan, trust me. If the PS5 Pro hits around 10 million sales by 2028, Sony's laughing all the way to the bank. They know most people will stick with the regular PS5, just like they did with the PS4. And if sales start to dip? Boom, a game bundle or a $50 price drop. Suddenly, Sony's the good guy, giving the people what they want. It's marketing magic. 😉 Oh, and one more thing... Microsoft's new Series X variant? That'll set you back $600, and it's not even a "Pro" model. Just something to chew on. 😎
2:40 Strongly disagree. Calling the PS5 a PC it's like calling the Steam Deck a console or a 2006-2021 Macbook a PC. Those devices are technologically similar, yet, they are different on what you can do legally. If you try to mod a game on PS5 you will be accused of circumventing a copyright protection mechanism or cheating, your PSN account will be banned/terminated and your console will be potentially blacklisted. You can't install/run your PC copy of NFSU2 on a PS5, access gog/zoom-platform or install Steam on a console.
I totally agree. It is not cheap but it is also not outrageously pricey. My PC cost 6000 Euros (Which is about 6300 USD) and that is actually just the PC tower itself. No monitor, peripherals etc. Comparing the PS5 Pro to that price and one realizes that it is dirt cheap. Granted, my PC is A LOT more powerful and versatile. But a person who doesnt need a PC and still wants a very high quality gaming experience? Get the PS5 Pro.
Honestly, I think people are making a bigger deal out of it and it needs to be. I think it’s probably because bad news gets clicks and they just need something to talk about. Of course I would like to have the system cheaper but I understand that our money isn’t worth what it used to be. I know that I used to be able to get chuck roast for about 3$ a pound and now it’s about 7$ a pound I could list a ton of other things that have gone up in price including in my business we have about 3000 SKUs and for the past couple years, we haven’t been able to maintain the same price on anything because every time we re-order the price is going up. I think I’ll probably pick one of these up like you. Playstation is probably my platform of choice I have a PS5 in my living room, and a PS5 in my bedroom, I’ll probably sell the one in my bedroom and put money towards a Pro. Nice to hear somebody that can have their own opinion. I’ll give you a sub.
considering you can still buy a regular ps5 cheaper and play the same games, its not that bad. xbox series s will get you the latest games even cheaper. ps1 adjusted for inflation was like $620 at launch and there was no cheaper option for the latest games back then.
completely agree. it is ultimately a luxury product. it will be sold out again and scalpers will sell them at a higher price even now. why? because sony knows there is an audience for it. i boaght a used ps4 pro this year and seeing all these people crying about not being able to buy the brand new thing is so silly. just wait, stop falling for fomo.
luxury product ? lol yeah right! Thats the problem is not even that, a luxury product in a video game console I would expect games at the highest visuals with ray tracing along side at least 120 fps at least a 1440p, and not to expect a far long view of a freaking tree look crispier, FUDGE THAT!! With the PS4 Pro , they lower the price PS4 normal edition and the PS4 pro was released at 399.99 and there was a heck more jump in visuals than this PS5 pro, is pretty obvious Sony is trying to recover from some retarded budget spending decisions they make some time ago so thats why they havent lower the price of the base model and added 200 dollars more for the pro. My PS5 at this moment for the first time ever I will say is Collecting dust because the retarded decisions Sony has been making lately, Im playing way more in my PC with a RTX 3070 and every Playstation exclusive is looking way superior, the perfect example of this too is that, this month FFXVI PC will be released, and I can confirm with my rtx 3070 the performance in the demo is at least 90 to 120 fps with the highest settings at 1440p, heck I can even play maybe at 4k at 60 fps , but I dont have a have 4k monitors so is a NO lol. The only thing this PS5 PRO make me do is to decide that will rather spend 800 bucks on a 4070 TI Super or even a 4080 Super by the end of the year, thank you Sony great marketing you have there. WUHAHAHAA.
@@nexornator that's great but that's on you. it is a luxury product because it's unnecesary and the only reason you'd get it is if you want it and can afford it. No one needs it. just because there's even more expensive and costly options doesn't make a video game console any less of a luxury product, same as a base ps5 and same as any other console. good for you that your standards are high tho, to most people the ps5 is more than enough let alone the pro.
here in Australia the console is going to cost $1200 now a stand cost $49.95 and a disk drive cost $160 so all up thats $1410. i got my PS5 on day one back in 2020 for $750 they now cost $799. now i converted the money of $700 US to Australian and that would bring the price to $1050.26 but they are charging us $1200. i am sorry sony its not worth it i will start saving for the PS6 god knows its going to cost an arm and a leg
I spare no expense when it comes to gaming. However, this one is a pass. I will just put the $800 or so with Disc Drive towards a 5090 when I change over from a 4090.
"When you really break it down, you're buying a gaming pc just with a different operating system" Actually you could buy a 700 dollar pc, and play Sony's games and have free online and even do more than gaming (work/content creation). And this is coming from a PS5 owner.
There's also a premium for what will now be definitively the king of the castle as far as graphics concerned in the console arena. The same thing happens with graphics cards there's always an additional premium for the top card which is now the 4090, compared to the 4080 super for example.
@SirVerm What do you mean they can't fully utilise the system? Do you think The PS5 Pro will play all new titles in native 4K 60fps? If you think you can go native 4K quality mode above 60fps on pro that means one thing... you're wrong!
@@AdIBaR86 it won't play every title perfectly but it will play some older titles better and new titles better. If you don't have a HDMI 2.1 display then you can do any higher than 60 fps anyway
it is expensive for what they offering, I been PS fan since the PS1 and always have been, but beeing a fan doesnt mean Im blind and dont have common sense,
Stop simping for a corporation, this gaming console should only be $499, and the slim should be marked down to $299. $699 for 4 year old hardware is insane.
I think Sony's 9 minute pitch was handled very poorly. It should have been longer and more in depth to sell the consumer. And at the end they should have eased people's inevitable "sticker shock". Just say something like "Hey, we get it, it's expensive, but we worked very hard to wring out as much value as we could from it, we barely make a profit from it, and it's similar in power to a $2,000 gaming PC." Something like that.
i am not mad at this video. different perspective. AM NOT buying the ps5 pro though. I knew i WASNT when the ps5 pro was a rumor. it wasnt necessary in my opinion since so many people still playing ps4 and or have not upgraded to the ps5. then after the reveal, my stance on buying the ps5 pro was confirmed, DONT BUY IT. I didnt care about the price too much, cause i just got a gaming laptop for emulation, the value of the ps5 pro wasnt there for me, i already have the base ps5, and last for the ps5 pro price, just get a gaming pc at that point.
I think what's galling for me is that Sony markets this as the premium, enthusiast option, prices it as such, yet doesn't include a full feature-set, which would include the disc drive and the vertical stand. I'd have more respect for Sony if it included the above as the ONLY Pro SKU and priced it at $749 or even $799. It would still be expensive, but that SKU would offer the full PS5 experience. This is a transparently cynical and cocky move on Sony's part.
@@earlyriser03 I agree with everything you just said. I think it should include a stand and a disc drive. If you watch my other videos, I am 100% into physical media. I wouldn't even mind spending $750. If all that was included.
@@sirvern7825 I could tell from the opening seconds of your video that your preference is physical ownership too, with those camera pans of your library. Very cool! Folks love to discount physical ownership these days while forgetting all the times access to digital purchases have been revoked due to licensing or a game being a certified flop. It's been the reality for quite a while that PC is the place to be for true flexibility, return on investment, and preservation.
@@andyduhh4278 physical media is in decline, not “dead.” Sure, I suppose the necessary vertical stand could be used as a paperweight too. The Pro will likely ship with the two pegs the Slim did to let it sit horizontally. Because neither can sit horizontally without added support. As for vertically, the system will be top heavy. The stand would provide necessary stability in its digital only form.
Check for availability of those drives, they are already hard to buy and pro version is going to increase it even more. They are doing everything they can to add more drive-less PS5 to the market.
So glad I future proofed my PC build years ago. Sabertooth X99 maxed out running a 3090TI. Built it right before prices skyrocketed. This is my last Xbox and Sony Console gen. I'm good with the PC and whatever Nintendo drops. Can you image? A 1000+ dollar PS6 system is going to push prices to the moon.
I commented something similar on a couple of other videos and will say it here too. Yes, it's expensive. With all of the rumors going around forever, most people were expecting a $600 price tag, so $700 was a shock. If you actually think about EVERYTHING a company or business has to factor into pricing, it's really understandable how Sony arrived at that amount. I'm not trying to makes excuses and I'm not denying that I think it costs more than it should. But if it included a disc drive or it was only $650, it would've been more palatable. Am I getting one? At the moment, no. I may change my mind at some point, but for now, the Pro isn't for me. And I'm okay with that. 🙂
$700 is a lot of money considering the ps5 only has a handful of console exclusives that can benefit from its marginal (borderline noticeable) improvements. The way I see it is there's really no reason why anyone should upgrade from a base ps5. What the ps5 fan base wants is actually a controller that can last longer than a couple of months before the dreaded stick drift happens
The PS5 Pro is not coming out alongside the PS5, so let's keep in mind that it will be 4-year older tech. A refurb PS5 is $350. Here's how I see it. Some simple math... ($399 - $100 aka 4 years discount) x 1.5 (since it's about 45% faster GPU / ONLY!!!!) = $450 + $50 for the 2TB storage upgrade is = $500 in my book and that's still minus a stand. IMO anything over $550 is too much as it stands and $600 with an optical drive, but I would like to see it packed with a game. Otherwise, I think an aggressive fly off the shelf pricing would have been $500 and $550 with an optical drive, no game bundle.
I've been waiting almost 3 years for the PS5 PRO to switch from my PS4 (almost day 1). Maybe worth it to wait 2 or 3 more years and spend 1.000,00 eur on the PS6.
Remember 3DO? The $80 Killer Instinct Cart? Videogame companies have tried this before. You're going to get a hand full of games because of development cost. No one is going to game for that amount of money.
Its funny though I don't buy $120 special editions or $20 fortnight skins, nor consoles period, but I will buy high end PC hardware, simply for the fact that I'm not locked into any one eco system, not even microsofts. $700 is very expensive for a machine that's only selling point is it plays games. Idk $700 is a lot to drop at once, or even carry on a credit card. Maybe its priced with inflation, but wages aren't inflating, and I don't make small PC upgrades, like if I spend money I want to see a hard 50% performance uplift or more. Personally I don't see the casual console audience nabbing it up. If I had stayed with consoles I feel like it'd be a hard pass. (1st edit) I'm gonna keep editing this as I watch it FYI. It's not a gaming PC with a different operating system. First off you can't install a different OS on it. Secondly you can't mod games. You can't multi-task. Thirdly, you can't do anything creative on it. Maybe you meant it has performance similar to a gaming PC, but having high powered PC opens the doorway to a lot of things you may not have even known you were interested in. Digital art is something I never would have even known I was interested in, if I hadn't been able to causally buy and use a drawing tablet.(2nd edit) I haven't bought a phone in 7 years and I stopped buying smart phones. (3rd edit) You could spend less than $2000 on a PC and beat the PS5 pro. It wouldn't have a 4090, but if you can drop $800 on a PS5 pro(I'm assuming you bought the disc drive) you can buy all of the parts individually and assemble it yourself (seriously the best option you'll maybe an hour or two learning how to do it and your first build will take 5 or 6 hours, unless it all just clicks very naturally)(4th edit) I will say it seems like the PS5 pro was made for you given your collection of games, but personally it doesn't make sense to me it's like a middle low leaning PC without any of the the other features, at an entry level PC price.
Right, it's going to be different for every person. I have a pretty big collection of physical games so it does make sense to me. People are acting like it's required to buy it and it's too expensive
I love PlayStation as-well. It'll be funny to see people change their minds about the Pro when GTA6 comes out. I promise you that game won't see a PC release for years to come. I purchased a 4070 for the same price as PS5 Pro. As crazy as it might sound I think the PS5 Pro does have a bit of value to it. (If you have 4K displays) You can't build a PC at a similar price that can do 4K 60FPS (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) Also, gaming is an expensive hobby, even retro gaming if you like original hardware. I get that $700 is ridiculous but people shouldn't be surprised. Everything in gaming is expensive now, and if you really don't like the Pro then the original PS5 is still a really good and (some what) affordable option.
Consoles are supposed to be the affordable gaming option. When its all said and done after taxes, disc drives, stands you are looking at a sub 1k system......without any games. And to be fair this is marketed towards people who perhaps don't have a PS5 yet.
$913.88....in BRITAIN.....WITHOUT stand or drive. Its expensive. To put that into perspective I can upgrade my PC to a USED 5800X3D AND a USED RX6900XT for that.

It's $700(+ tax and don't forget the disk drive) for a proprietary locked down pc that requires a monthly paid service to fully use that also denies you the ability to use it for anything else.

I hope you're right about the PS6!
New times people, pc components are just more expensive than 3 years ago so yeah.
@@mavkajutsu here here!
a 2tb SSD is almost 200.
Sales happen all the time but sub $150 ssd's are every day. lol
@mrcrunch8000
Not with the speeds you need.
But some of that is offset by the higher performance, double the internal storage, and AstroBoat which is like $60.
Sony milks you so hard jacking up the price of everything and you can't defend it. I bought a pc, and I am sticking with it. Sony refuses to drop prices stop releasing games.

Oh, and one more thing...
Microsoft's new Series X variant? That'll set you back $600, and it's not even a "Pro" model. Just something to chew on. 😎
The PS5 Pro is not for me? How come the PS4 Pro was? With the same price point like the launch PS4? Stop defending Sony's greed 🤡

2:40 Strongly disagree. Calling the PS5 a PC it's like calling the Steam Deck a console or a 2006-2021 Macbook a PC. Those devices are technologically similar, yet, they are different on what you can do legally. If you try to mod a game on PS5 you will be accused of circumventing a copyright protection mechanism or cheating, your PSN account will be banned/terminated
and your console will be potentially blacklisted.

I understand there is a lpt of negativity. But, the ps5 is not a HUGE leap from ps4. Apart from 4k hdr and higher refresh rates
@@BlueshellGamer true. And the controller and SSD
considering you can still buy a regular ps5 cheaper and play the same games, its not that bad. xbox series s will get you the latest games even cheaper. ps1 adjusted for inflation was like $620 at launch and there was no cheaper option for the latest games back then.
£700 for anything is expensive bro idc how good the graphics are
completely agree. it is ultimately a luxury product.
it will be sold out again and scalpers will sell them at a higher price even now. why? because sony knows there is an audience for it.
i boaght a used ps4 pro this year and seeing all these people crying about not being able to buy the brand new thing is so silly.
just wait, stop falling for fomo.
luxury product ? lol yeah right!
Sigma rizz ohio ice spice what the dog doing
That's wild! I can understand that for you
Dreamcast Guy’s videos are so cringe
I agree with your perspectives on this.
So technology is going up and prices should stay the same MR SIR fanboy.
And 50% of 4090 cards will die.
$699 for something that isn't even noticeable is a scam
@SirVerm What do you mean they can't fully utilise the system? Do you think The PS5 Pro will play all new titles in native 4K 60fps? If you think you can go native 4K quality mode above 60fps on pro that means one thing... you're wrong!
@@AdIBaR86 it won't play every title perfectly but it will play some older titles better and new titles better. If you don't have a HDMI 2.1 display then you can do any higher than 60 fps anyway
@@sirvern7825 utilising the PS5 Pro system without 2.1 it's simple... Use quality mode 60fps.
With a drive, it's almost equal to $1000, here in Sweden. So fuck no.
@@Svante proud to be an American! 😉
it is expensive for what they offering, I been PS fan since the PS1 and always have been, but beeing a fan doesnt mean Im blind and dont have common sense,
Stop simping for a corporation, this gaming console should only be $499, and the slim should be marked down to $299. $699 for 4 year old hardware is insane.
@@msimrow I think Sony is doing plenty of things wrong. But buying a product isn't 'simping.' If you don't want it don't buy it. Simple
Now you seem reasonable! I respect your view.
Physical media is dead and that stand is paper weight. The console can stand and lay down on its own…
@@andyduhh4278 physical media is in decline, not “dead.” Sure, I suppose the necessary vertical stand could be used as a paperweight too.
I like your take. Nothing wrong with that upgrade
Yeah this is definitely my last PlayStation console
I have never witnessed such cope in all my life.
I've been waiting almost 3 years for the PS5 PRO to switch from my PS4 (almost day 1).
Maybe worth it to wait 2 or 3 more years and spend 1.000,00 eur on the PS6.
Nah, the PS5 Pro will be great. I'd go ahead and pick it up.
So a PS5 Slim digital does not exist? Pro models are supposed to be affordable? or is the slim non digital model for that?
