@@LollipopKnight2 How could Seth possibly get a better time when he has comparable combat to Cormag but no wings? The Morva monster map skip alone saves so many turns and ingame time. I don't think anyone has a chance against Cormag. Though I'd love to be proven wrong.
@@voidmxl8473 He may have an easier time against magic, and an easier time in the last missions with his greater choice of legendary weapon. You're right, though, that the effective map skip is a huge deal.
@@LollipopKnight2 Umm, what legendary weapon advantage does Seth have? He gets swords and lances, just like Cormag in this playthrough. Maybe you're thinking of FE6 and 7 Paladins? It's true that Seth's resist is much better and that makes him more reliable on paper, but the way Kratos does the ranking, I don't think it reflects that quality on the tier list. Even if it did matter, Cormag didn't actually struggle that much and Pure Water exists to supplement him at least a little bit. Morva's map isn't even the only one where Cormag moves faster. There is also the Pablo mountain skip and much better mobility in the desert which are probably somewhat relevant. And likely many other maps I'm not thinking of right now. I'm not even sure if Seth could beat Cormag's time even if he could magically one shot and take no damage from every enemy in the game except Gorgon Egg stage, Morva stage and the final two chapters. Kratos is bound to do that playthrough at some point, then we'll know for sure.
Fun fact: The version of Cormag on Eirika's route was actually nerfed significantly with all of his stats reduced by 1-4 points and in the original Japanese version has a minimum of 13 speed, 15 defense, and *18 STRENGTH* at base.
I believe the stat range for eirika route cormag is because the game autolevels him from level 9 to 11 using the generic Wyvernrider class growths, so his stats vary the same way enemy stats do. I think this is also why the internet can't seem to agree on Knoll's bases, since the game autolevels him from level 9 to 10 for some reason. I guess the devs just wanted another opportunity for poor Knoll to get unlucky 😢
yeah. I hadn't looked at the numbers or anything but the most likely reason is definitely the game autoleveling him up to the level you get him for at least a couple levels. I recall there being a few units over time that were like that over the series.
The game only has one playable version of each character in its files and that version is set to their lowest possible starting level/stats. So if they make a higher join level version of that unit the only recourse is to auto-level them. As for why they use the class's growth rates, I assume they just recycled the same exact function from normal enemies since the game had to fit on a 32 megabyte max cartridge. As for why they auto-level Knoll to 10, I assume it is to make him a potential instant promote into Druid or Summoner to give Ephriam's side of the map a potential healer.

The more that I watch these kinds of videos. the more I get a sense that if the code was fully dug through we might find that certain classes influence growths a bit, even when they aren't listed.
@@Quandry1 Sacred Stones has been fully decompiled (first link for "Sacred Stones Decompilation" on any search engine) so there is nothing hidden to us anymore. Cormag just has disgustingly high bases (sans his res) including his base defense, so it can feel like the 25% growth isn't an issue if you get lucky. Incidentally, the decompilation is the reason KratosMVN is able to do these runs in the first place - since you have infinitely more freedom when modding decompiled games.
@@howlingwolf317 having it decompiled does not mean the code has been fully gone through and is known. Just that it's been opened up into a more understandable and explorable format which makes things like modding easier.

Curious to see how Syrene fares, as despite being the only prepromoted flier I think she'll find herself struggling. She's prepromoted and has 2 less strength and defense than base Cormag...
I thought it was a more fitting title since, for this character, there wasn't really a doubt about the ability to do it or not. Syrene is one of my most anticipated runs because there is that doubt for a pre-promote. Will be quite interesting.

It's easy to track deaths statistically via the Battles/Wins/Loss score at the bottom of the stat screen. The Loss stat tracks even through resets, iirc.
Long live King Cormag! Wow that was easy! The only thing that I think could be easier would be Seth, maybe? Either way, when you’re ready to suffer again, I’d really like to see a Neimi or Ewan solo run. I’d also like to see an Ephraim solo, just to see how he compares to his sister, though I think we all know he’d do way better. With that said, I’m looking forward to the next run, no matter who it’s with!

I feel like Cormag and Gerik might have the easiest solo runs simply because they get promotion items as they join, pretty much making them unstoppable for awhile. So a Gerik run would be cool, but I'm still hoping for a character from another game. Lyn, Hector, even Eliwood. Or go even crazier and go with a 3DS FE character.

I found this channel about a week ago from the Bandit Emblem video (I remembered playing a couple chapters of it and was curious to see where it went) and fell in love with these solo runs! So happy to be here for Cormag! Were you considering ever doing any of the Creature Campaign characters at some point like Ismaire or Valter? Hey Kratos, love FE8 it was my first and a couple of weeks ago I was watching your solo runs on repeat and used your tutorial to create a solo run for myself, and I went for Cormag first, without as many restrictions just for my fun and 2 hours later I had won, it was the easiest run of FE8 I ever did. After you play all the main chars are you gonna try the Valni/ruins heroes, I think it will be somewhat fun to play the villain as well ahahhha. Love you content, keep on keeping on 😂😂😂

I know you weren't too on board before about doing the tower of valni bonus characters, but why not i propose another pre-promote similar to dozla in my favorite character in sacred stones, The Prince of Frelia: Innes? Tana was really fun so why not see if her brother can score any better? or if being a 2 range locked unit will do him in? all in all though, love your stuff Kratos
1:35 So the reason this happens with the range I believe is because of since he's starting at a higher level in erika's route, he has some autolevels, is my guess. that being said, because Erika Cormag is 2 levels higher than Ephraim Cormag and all the stats that have a range have a range of 2, with Ephraim cormag 2 levels lower than erika, this means that the Ephraim Cormag is very likely his base stats. fun fact. with this in mind, using the same source, Knoll has two different starting levels, apparently. Both start at level 10. but Erika Knoll has a chance of having stats one point higher than Ephraim Knoll. (or that wiki is wrong, and due to knoll's probably abyssal growths, starts at level 9 regardless and is autoleveled to 10... and more differences being reported on Erikas route.) EDIT: looking at it, Knoll is base level 9 and gets autoleveled to 10 it seems, looking at his character in FEBuilder, and cormag matches up with the level 9 stats that you used.
@@kratosmvn_ True. which is why in my opinion is if you were to go with the bases, you just start with what is in FE builder, since all other discrepancies are from autolevel differences. and that requires the least fenagling with FEbuilder settings too. lol

huh, what an interesting start to the run-is he one of the people that has the best starting inventory? I'm not sure who else starts with their own promotion item wyvern knight is probably the better overall class for cormag, but he definitely feels better as a wyvern lord. Having access to swords also really is a fantastic boon, since weapon triangle control can really help flying units since they can't use terrain bonuses. Wyvern lord is also usually fast enough, even with a 23 cap, to be able to double most enemies, only really missing out on the hellhound enemies and other super speedy ones funny part about the cormag run time is that it's actually one that's somewhat slower than it should be since you forgot to change the settings to speed up text and such at the start and for like over half the game, so that's a decent amount of time added against cormag, and he still smoked everyone else
I do believe between the killer lance and promo item, it's one of the best starting inventories in the game. He destroyed this challenge like no one else could haha
cormag’s always been one of my favourite fe8 characters even before i realised how good he really is, he’s just so cool! i like that you made him a wyvern lord like glen i’m sure you’ve gotten this question before, but do you have any plans for characters like natasha and l’arachel who start off with only staves? or maybe even tethys? you’d have to give her a weapon rank to even use her but i think it would be interesting (funny) to see how far you can get using a unit with barely any strength and no ability to use an S-rank weapon
It felt like the proper homage to make him a lord. Yes, I do have plans for the healing units, but I have to get a few things done before, but it is incoming.
Sacred Stones was my first FE game and I still remember thinking only the bad guys were allowed to use wyverns. I was really surprised when I found out I could get one of my own!
Counter argument for not counting deaths: that very heavily biases frail units that either win easily or fold faster than a poker player with a 7/2 off. While using IGT instead of real time makes a lot of sense, maybe you could keep a tally for whenever a death happens that wasn’t you being distracted? Doing it as it happens means you won’t need to go back for the new characters, and it lets you avoid counting the distraction deaths.
I always Go for Wyvern Knight for Cormag's Promotion in Scared Stones cuz if one of the Pegasus knights turns into Wyvern Knight the Trigger for the triangle attack will only trigger for the Wyvern Knight if i remember
Whenever you finish the cast of Sacred Stones, are you gonna continue with another game, try modding in characters from other games into Sacred Stones(like adding Marcus with his stats from FE7) or just finishing the series entirely?
Could you add the classes and S-rank weapons each character used in the spreadsheet? I think it would be interesting to see what classes/Twin weapons are used the most often across characters.
Something that would be interesting but might be a no... Is can you beat fe8 as formortis. Lol. If anything i think the hangups, unless you can make player-controlled formortis spawn player controlled monsters would be scorched sands (movement) and the final chapter. Maybe penultimate. (Damage of dracozombies)
Tana did have the javelin problem and no door keys in the middle of her run. But I was actually worried that you were gonna go wyvern knight cormag just because it would've been almost identical to tana. But I'm happy you went wyvern lord to honor Glen and death to VALTA
Have you ever thought about using units that you unlock in creature campaign like Valter? I feel like those characters rarely get any love due to their unlock time.
You can recruit Cormag in chapter 13 in Eirika’s route or chapter 10 in Ephraim’s route. For Eirika’s route, only she can recruit him. In Ephraim’s route, only Tana or Duesell can recruit him. Ephraim can recruit Duesell early. Seeing you get Cormag earlier in Ephraim’s route, that should be your starting point for him. Bring Tana, and kill no enemies, having Tana reach him ASAP. Once recruited, give him as many lances as you can, with an elixir set. He has a steel and killer lance to start with. Store his promotion item and withdraw 2 more lances that are no higher than C rank.
Awww... and here I was hoping it'd be a Ewan run... oh well, give and take, I personally felt weird using Cormag or most fliers in general in FE... okay, revision, all fliers. I always found them a liability half the time, but over the years, I've gotten better... won't lie and say "I don't love all fliers" though a few notable ones have made it onto that list of an actually liked flier. Those being (for the sake of sense I'm going starting class only and not factoring in Galeforce in Awakening era), Jill was first, Cherche (I never really got to use Harkin til recently but he is a notable "well because of Jill, he's unofficially on it"), Camilla, and the most recent one added to my radar outside of Engage (obviously that's both Ivy and Hortensia for very obvious reasons with being the only flying Lord units), the last one that made it on that list is Hufflepuff leader... wait... sorry, Golden Deer leader Claude! This is strictly using his Canon final promo ofc... though today, Cormag has now been retroactively added onto the list of my Fliers I'd Fly for!

I've noticed a surprising lack of Archers in this list... So... Neimi run time? I just wanna know if archers are viable at all, given how the enemy tends to surround your unit if they can.
I don't think someone will be faster than Cormag. Seth is maybe stronger, but the movement of flying units is a big advantage for low turn counts. Cormag was almost always part of my team as well. Good seeing him on first place
Regarding you not including total deaths in your final tally, I think it's perfectly reasonable given your explanation. Instead, maybe you could include a subjective "Difficulty" rating between 1-10? Cormag was a breeze so he's a 1 or 2, while a very tricky unit like Colm is a 9 or 10. This would convey the same information that people want to know when they ask about deaths - how hard was this particular run - without creating the illusion of objective data (as you said, total deaths would be just that)
That's actually quite a good idea, I intend the color tiers to kind of reflect that, but going that extra step might make it a little clearer thank you!
@@kratosmvn_ Well, difficulty overall isn't necessarily reflected. For example it took you 2 resets for Lute, so her difficulty rating would probably be higher than people with similar time/turn counts. Love the series! I'm looking forward to Ephraim's turn, he's my favorite Lord.
I think if any unit stands a chance against Cormag it's probably only going to be Seth, MAYYYYYBE Duessel. I don't think even Gerik really stands a chance. Duessel is only up for debate because he at base can take hits from the Demon King, which is what makes him so good in a 0% growth run and he has access to Garm. Seth being Seth could maybe beat Cormag but come on, Seth is probably the best unit in all of FE, so is that even fair to say?
Haven't watched the video yet but i can't imagine cormag would be better than tana. I think cormag's low res and speed are going to hold him back a bit late game whereas tana just keeps bruising through. Early game will be easier though so it might balance out
I was one of the not subscribed people. Was. Fire Emblem fliers are really more often than not busted, and Cormag shows. I hope wee got to see Gerrik solo run soon (mercs/heroes are my favourite FE classes:)
Predicting Cormag is the unit that dethrones Tana for 1st place, and the two of them end with gold and silver medals. He has lower but still good speed, for more strength and bulk. Granted Tana's run did leave room for optimization. Seth will likely have great time, but he can't take the shortcuts that fliers can, as well as being slowed by the desert. Vanessa is Tana with less strength, and she's probably going to struggle at the very beginning and the very end. Suggestion for fun: Replace the kids that get eaten by the spider with Knoll.
Once those vídeos were challenging, now they feel like, "hey, let's see if I can beat FE8 with FE4 promoted Leaf with A in every single skill and max stats"
I mean this is literally the first example of a character not running into any issues. The Colm, Garcia, and Knoll runs all had a difficulty and felt challenging.

This is a unique challenge mode, so he might not be as dominant as normal, but I think there's a reasonable chance that Seth could beat Cormag's time.

It's easy to track deaths statistically via the Battles/Wins/Loss score at the bottom of the stat screen. The Loss stat tracks even through resets, iirc.

Long live King Cormag! Wow that was easy! The only thing that I think could be easier would be Seth, maybe? Either way, when you’re ready to suffer again, I’d really like to see a Neimi or Ewan solo run. I’d also like to see an Ephraim solo, just to see how he compares to his sister, though I think we all know he’d do way better. With that said, I’m looking forward to the next run, no matter who it’s with!

I feel like Cormag and Gerik might have the easiest solo runs simply because they get promotion items as they join, pretty much making them unstoppable for awhile. So a Gerik run would be cool, but I'm still hoping for a character from another game. Lyn, Hector, even Eliwood. Or go even crazier and go with a 3DS FE character.
Gerik will probably have an easy-ish time too! Using characters from other game does sound like a lot of fun.

Hey Kratos, love FE8 it was my first and a couple of weeks ago I was watching your solo runs on repeat and used your tutorial to create a solo run for myself, and I went for Cormag first, without as many restrictions just for my fun and 2 hours later I had won, it was the easiest run of FE8 I ever did.
After you play all the main chars are you gonna try the Valni/ruins heroes, I think it will be somewhat fun to play the villain as well ahahhha.

Ya know, this was great stuff. I also am a big fan of Cormag. Definitely one of my more favorite wyvern riders in Fire Emblem. I know you weren't too on board before about doing the tower of valni bonus characters, but why not i propose another pre-promote similar to dozla in my favorite character in sacred stones, The Prince of Frelia: Innes? Tana was really fun so why not see if her brother can score any better? or if being a 2 range locked unit will do him in?

So the reason this happens with the range I believe is because of since he's starting at a higher level in erika's route, he has some autolevels, is my guess.
that being said, because Erika Cormag is 2 levels higher than Ephraim Cormag and all the stats that have a range have a range of 2, with Ephraim cormag 2 levels lower than erika, this means that the Ephraim Cormag is very likely his base stats.
fun fact. with this in mind, using the same source, Knoll has two different starting levels, apparently. Both start at level 10. but Erika Knoll has a chance of having stats one point higher than Ephraim Knoll. (or that wiki is wrong, and due to knoll's probably abyssal growths, starts at level 9 regardless and is autoleveled to 10... and more differences being reported on Erikas route.)
EDIT: looking at it, Knoll is base level 9 and gets autoleveled to 10 it seems, looking at his character in FEBuilder, and cormag matches up with the level 9 stats that you used.

huh, what an interesting start to the run-is he one of the people that has the best starting inventory? I'm not sure who else starts with their own promotion item
wyvern knight is probably the better overall class for cormag, but he definitely feels better as a wyvern lord. Having access to swords also really is a fantastic boon, since weapon triangle control can really help flying units since they can't use terrain bonuses. Wyvern lord is also usually fast enough, even with a 23 cap, to be able to double most enemies, only really missing out on the hellhound enemies and other super speedy ones
funny part about the cormag run time is that it's actually one that's somewhat slower than it should be since you forgot to change the settings to speed up text and such at the start and for like over half the game, so that's a decent amount of time added against cormag, and he still smoked everyone else
I do believe between the killer lance and promo item, it's one of the best starting inventories in the game.

i’m sure you’ve gotten this question before, but do you have any plans for characters like natasha and l’arachel who start off with only staves? or maybe even tethys? you’d have to give her a weapon rank to even use her but i think it would be interesting (funny) to see how far you can get using a unit with barely any strength and no ability to use an S-rank weapon

Sacred Stones was my first FE game and I still remember thinking only the bad guys were allowed to use wyverns. I was really surprised when I found out I could get one of my own!

Counter argument for not counting deaths: that very heavily biases frail units that either win easily or fold faster than a poker player with a 7/2 off. While using IGT instead of real time makes a lot of sense, maybe you could keep a tally for whenever a death happens that wasn’t you being distracted? Doing it as it happens means you won’t need to go back for the new characters, and it lets you avoid counting the distraction deaths.
Yeah, I think that pinpointing important deaths that happen is a good idea kind of like in this video it was an important talking point
I always Go for Wyvern Knight for Cormag's Promotion in Scared Stones cuz if one of the Pegasus knights turns into Wyvern Knight the Trigger for the triangle attack will only trigger for the Wyvern Knight if i remember
Whenever you finish the cast of Sacred Stones, are you gonna continue with another game, try modding in characters from other games into Sacred Stones(like adding Marcus with his stats from FE7) or just finishing the series entirely?

You can recruit Cormag in chapter 13 in Eirika’s route or chapter 10 in Ephraim’s route. For Eirika’s route, only she can recruit him. In Ephraim’s route, only Tana or Duesell can recruit him. Ephraim can recruit Duesell early. Seeing you get Cormag earlier in Ephraim’s route, that should be your starting point for him. Bring Tana, and kill no enemies, having Tana reach him ASAP. Once recruited, give him as many lances as you can, with an elixir set. He has a steel and killer lance to start with. Store his promotion item and withdraw 2 more lances that are no higher than C rank.

Awww... and here I was hoping it'd be a Ewan run... oh well, give and take, I personally felt weird using Cormag or most fliers in general in FE... okay, revision, all fliers. I always found them a liability half the time, but over the years, I've gotten better... won't lie and say "I don't love all fliers" though a few notable ones have made it onto that list of an actually liked flier. Those being (for the sake of sense I'm going starting class only and not factoring in Galeforce in Awakening era), Jill was first, Cherche (I never really got to use Harkin til recently but he is a notable "well because of Jill, he's unofficially on it"), Camilla, and the most recent one added to my radar outside of Engage (obviously that's both Ivy and Hortensia for very obvious reasons with being the only flying Lord units), the last one that made it on that list is Hufflepuff leader... wait... sorry, Golden Deer leader Claude! This is strictly using his Canon final promo ofc... though today, Cormag has now been retroactively added onto the list of my Fliers I'd Fly for!

I've noticed a surprising lack of Archers in this list... So... Neimi run time? I just wanna know if archers are viable at all, given how the enemy tends to surround your unit if they can.
Yeah, there hasn't been an archer yet, due to them being very difficult for this challenge, I will try to get one done asap.
I don't think someone will be faster than Cormag. Seth is maybe stronger, but the movement of flying units is a big advantage for low turn counts. Cormag was almost always part of my team as well. Good seeing him on first place

Regarding you not including total deaths in your final tally, I think it's perfectly reasonable given your explanation. Instead, maybe you could include a subjective "Difficulty" rating between 1-10? Cormag was a breeze so he's a 1 or 2, while a very tricky unit like Colm is a 9 or 10. This would convey the same information that people want to know when they ask about deaths - how hard was this particular run - without creating the illusion of objective data (as you said, total deaths would be just that)
That's actually quite a good idea, I intend the color tiers to kind of reflect that, but going that extra step might make it a little clearer thank you!
@@kratosmvn_ Well, difficulty overall isn't necessarily reflected. For example it took you 2 resets for Lute, so her difficulty rating would probably be higher than people with similar time/turn counts.

I think if any unit stands a chance against Cormag it's probably only going to be Seth, MAYYYYYBE Duessel. I don't think even Gerik really stands a chance. Duessel is only up for debate because he at base can take hits from the Demon King, which is what makes him so good in a 0% growth run and he has access to Garm. Seth being Seth could maybe beat Cormag but come on, Seth is probably the best unit in all of FE, so is that even fair to say?
Haven't watched the video yet but i can't imagine cormag would be better than tana. I think cormag's low res and speed are going to hold him back a bit late game whereas tana just keeps bruising through. Early game will be easier though so it might balance out

Predicting Cormag is the unit that dethrones Tana for 1st place, and the two of them end with gold and silver medals. He has lower but still good speed, for more strength and bulk. Granted Tana's run did leave room for optimization. Seth will likely have great time, but he can't take the shortcuts that fliers can, as well as being slowed by the desert. Vanessa is Tana with less strength, and she's probably going to struggle at the very beginning and the very end.
Suggestion for fun: Replace the kids that get eaten by the spider with Knoll.

I mean this is literally the first example of a character not running into any issues. The Colm, Garcia, and Knoll runs all had a difficulty and felt challenging.
