@alfredxsiv honestly, Armor Knights should have a triangle attack, too. It makes them far more useful than you'd typically see, and it'd be a nice payoff for really liking them.
The hat sprite looks so good. When he appeared as an enemy unit in chapter 5 I didn't even recognize him. Also noticed at around 21:31 you use mute, when the word you mean is moot. It's a very common misunderstanding, but it is it's own word.
Myrmidon was my favorite class in FE7 when I was a kid, and it was the first FE game I played since it came out in the US when I was about 11. So when the next game came out and there was a Myrmidon with MY OWN FIRST NAME I was so excited. He always turns out great for me too! This run is exactly what I’ve been wanting!!
If you'd want a more definitive (or mathematical) way to score all these runs against each other, you could turn these figures into percentages. For example; Cormag Turns: 305 divided by 1000 = .305 which is 30.5% out of 100%. If you then reverse that number(100 - 30.5 = 69.5%) you can add it to the Time category's Percentage. (The 1000 can be any number higher than the total number of turns, in this case Eirika's 855, as long as that number stays consistent for all characters. If the turn count ever goes over the 1000, then the percentage number would just end up negative.) Cormage Time 7:14 = 434 minutes divided by 1200 = .362 or 36.2% of 100%. Reversed would be 63.8%. This would be added to the Turn category's percentage. (1200 min is 20 hours, again can be anything higher than Eirika's Time of 15 hours and change) So, Turn percentage of 69.5% + Time Percentage of 63.8% equals 133.3% out of 200%.This number would determine Cormag's final rank. The closer to 200% the better. A few other notable comparisons would be: Perfect run of 200% (0 Turn count to beat the game, 0 Min time frame to beat the game) A 0% run. (Turn count of 1000+, and Time frame of 20+ hours) I doubt you would want to change the way that you rank this series this late into the game, but thanks for reading this if you did. You could just add a new column and call it "Mathmatical rank", but that's still prolly too much work. I just like math lol.
That is a great suggestion, I'm really bad at math so some of the stuff you described was lost on me, but I like this idea and maybe I could go back and add it once I figure it out a little better. Thank you for your comment and suggestion!
I think whats interesting about joshua is that, while he comes off as a "better eirika", eirika has a huge statistical lead on joshua. Outside of hp and str, eirika either matches or beats joshua - most notably having higher defenses, which makes an angelic robe better on her than joshua. While joshua has a higher str, its only by 1-2 on average, and she has the same str cap, and in a solo run itll likely be hit. while joshua has 15 bonus crit on promo, eirika has both the rapier for massive effective damage on enemies and crits, and the sieglinde for the 5 str bonus and massive monster effectiveness. On top of all that, eirika has 7 move and canto to joshuas 6. In spite of that... eirika promoting so late holds her back so severely. Im curious, how much better would eirika have preformed if she could promote as early as normal characters?
It's her promotion time. Plus the fact the while she can compare in some respects, Joshua bar none is the best of his class, while Ephraim is just superior to his sister in every way. Her weapons are amazing for her but by the time she get's them plus promotes it's a little to late for her to really shine. If she promoted at...say chapter 11 or 10...I'd say she'd be an amazing unit. Maybe give her a different mount like a dragon or pegasus so she has some differences from ephraim?
@27Bayleefs Ephraim got a lower speed cap by 6 and a lower luck so he's usually 14 avoid lower (with 2rn, eirika has up to a 30% higher chance to dodge than him) This would only come up with endgame Gorgon's I wager, but it's clear to note that he isn't superior in every way. That said Ephraim has 2 range, and having that is basically the difference between being d tier and b tier in sacred stones. Anyways I already mentioned her promo time in my original comment
@@isuckatgaming1873 Ephraim's defense and hp more than make up the lower avoid. Not every unit needs to be an avoid demon. Shoutout to SD9K for the hat sprite. I've tried to do small changes likes this, and its much harder than it may appear. Changing color palette is incredibly easy, and importing an already finished sprite is easy too, but editing a sprite takes so long, requires you to edit a sprite details dump file, and spend an entire class slot on the new sprite (unless, of course you wanted all myrs to have hats).
It's based on the level of the unit hitting him. Joshua is at level 20, and hitting pretty lightly, thus it's more likely to trigger as tirados health pool gets whittled down slowly
@27Bayleefs Not only that, but, in a solo run, most units are already promoted by Ch6~8, meaning that their LV is much lower. The ones who suffer are any Lord or anyone who needs a Hero Crest to promote (except Gerik).
Finally, another run. It's good to hear you are back. Honestly, i think joshua has a nostalgia factor that helps him been placed higher on tier lists but he is I would say mediocre at best, he is the best swordlock unit but as you mentioned, he needs support from other units and in a Solo run this weakness is more evident. Without a doubt, the best Hero Crest user is Gerik, his bases class, inventory and growths make him a force to be reckon (all other Hero Crest units suck anyway).
Yeah, I think from a solo standpoint it's hard to justify Joshua, but in a full team I think he can somewhat find a spot to do interesting things, Gerik is superior in my book too.
Hey there Kratos! Love to see Joshua getting some love. The bicorne gambler finally getting his hat is also a awesome touch! I still gotta bug you about innes though, lol. @@kratosmvn_ Don't worry, the fact that he has his hat in the fighting sprite makes this worth it, but it's kind of sad that the game is stacked against sword locked units so badly that he places below knoll XD
Being sword-locked is very un-fun. I've also run Marisa-only, and she's significantly worse for obvious reasons. I mean, I won, but it was still a slog (ironic, considering the SPD cap of both male and female Swordmasters). No one seems to have made a custom Assassin Joshua sprite for public release, as far as I know. Also, after doing enough of these solo runs, I've found that you can bypass the Zombie Dragon by running to the southeast or southwest ledge of that hole with a broken pillar just south of Lyon. Doing so causes anyone with 1-2 range to reach Lyon more quickly with relatively less risk, so long as they can easily kill the mook Wights that spawn in. However, units stuck to 1-range will take even more time trying to reach Lyon; however, you're not risking a lot of damage from the Zombie Dragon anymore. Because I want to make you suffer: mind doing Hector-only with Rapier replaced with Wolf Beil and Sieglinde replaced with Armads? I've already done it, and Ch18 is pain for obvious reasons.
Yeah sword locked is tough. I'll have to keep in mind your skip for the next solo run for sure. The Hector run sounds interesting, I think I'd like to try that eventually!
@@kratosmvn_ Oh, something important about that Zombie Dragon skip. You need at least 8 MOV to perform it. So, a General with Swiftsoles won't be able to avoid a confrontation with the Zombie Dragon.
i love how there are so many custom sprites specifically designed to look more like the characters than the vanilla sprites do. really does the characters and their uniqueness justice, i think.
I still maintain it's fair to use the Runesword trick since it's necessary to clear Ch. 18, and you didn't just grab a bunch of them to help clear those maps where a 2-range weapon would have helped a ton. I'd personally be kind of interested to see what that looks like, like how much the zeroed-out crit chance hurts him, but I think your approach here is best. I also wonder if giving one of the Paladins a single Runesword in their playthrough would help them. Despite the lower damage and zeroed out crit chance, the free healing could be useful in a pinch...but I can't remember how much pinches they really got into. And you didn't really utilize the free healing in any critical situation here, so maybe it doesn't even matter. Anyway, great stuff! Looking forward to the next one!
Regarding Joshua's bad luck. He's actually only really been shown being unlucky in two instances. The first is during chapter 5, just before he's recruited. The second is in his supports with L'Arachel, where he cheats and still loses. He actually cheats in almost all of his supports so him having average luck is actually fairly accurate, Joshua doesn't have bad luck. He cheats most of the time, and whenever he loses it's significant because he cheated. He also probably cheated a loss during his recruitment dialogue considering he has the hots for Natasha.
What the? Joshua with a hat killed Joshua without a hat? How did you make that happen? Aren't they the same character folder in Builder? Now I want to give him a hat but that made me so confused.
See the thing about Joshua's bad luck is it's not a literal terrible luck stat, it's the fact that he reaches into the RNG itself and gives you terrible levelups while granting the enemy like a 70% Great Shield rate.
Joshua is my very favorite boy! I always take him to Swordmaster, it just seems like the canon promotion. Me and my brothers would always high five whenever he got a crit
Hey Kratos, for your next pure fun run you should do a thing where you put yourself as a custom character into FE 8 and see if you can beat the demon king. You could do stats like bases and growth rates in strength would be higher than someone like Amelia since she is a barely trained soldier but lower than someone like cormag or Garcia who are well versed fighting units
I think what this really exposes is that Joshua is a fun unit but turns out to be mid. Too frail to stand on the front lines, too weak to deal significant damage to bulky targets, not enough Luck to be a true dodge tank monster, stuck with one of the worst weapon types in swords.
That made me wonder how would Erika compare if she could actually promote in a sensible time. Like, she is never going to be amazing or anything (I don't think any sword lock can be) but her stupidly late promotion is probably *the* main thing that kills her run. Even Kratos do a rerun like he did for Ross, I doubt she will improve that much. If she is able to promote earlier though, like, if she actually promoted with the hero crest as well she might actually be the best sword lock in the game, if just because of horse.
@@heatth1474 Actually yes they can be. Ike is pretty much a monster in path of radiance able to solo the entire game as a sword lock. Eirika has a shitty promotion. and a lack of a decent range option. Ike and his Ragnell go brrrr.
The thing is that Joshua is a really good myrmidon in a game where myrmidon are bad. If he was in fe6, he would be an S tier unit, but since javelins and hand axes rule in this game, he ends up being a useful unit at the start of the game with the armorslayer and nothing more.
Joshua may not have the worst luck 'stat' in the game, but he damn sure has the worst luck in the game, never seen so many great shield procs in my life 😂😂😂
Dont even need to watch the video, yes. Josh here is the fucking goat. He maxes speed strength and luck pretty easily with minor help, and sometimes even hp and defense. Res is literally the only one that might not max, but it still freaking could (without abusing the non mission battles)
Solo runs I'd still like to see, ranked in order of how badly I personally want them. Ewan Neimi (this might legitimately be impossible) Ephraim Gerik I also think it would be cool if you tried some of the monster classes.
It sounds like you might be saying “mute” argument instead of “moot” argument. Just in case you didn’t know: you definitely want the word “moot” for moments like these.
Joshua has the problem of being a myrmidon. He lacks the strength to back up his skill and strength ususally. He can dodge-tank, but he does need some support to do it properly. He's only really reliable with hard-mode bonuses, and without is pretty interchangable with Marisa.
Yeeeeaaaaah people love Joshua as a character and he's relatively easy to use so I feel a lot of people overestimate how good he really is. Being swordlocked is just really bad in this game. Rutger can get away with it because of the game he's in, accuracy is way more important, physical 1-2 range is super inaccurate, plus just being an insanely strong unit in general. In FE7 and FE8 anyone who doesn't have 1-2 range options is at a huge disadvantage.
Seeing swordmaster like that, makes me miss playing lyn in fe 7 Her promote make her similar to swordmaster and as we know lyn animation is very cool when she crit
@kratosmvn_ yep, but too bad her final weapon is kinda... As* Even tho the crit animation so far is one of the best, but crit rate of that weapon is too low and the weapon is heavy as f**k 🙃

I'm so happy Joshua was able to clear hes easily my favorite FE character along Natasha.
Natasha x Joshua OTP
One of the most iconic ships in FE8 for sure.
Lore accurate General fight
That's how they should all go, especially when I have a general on my team.
i love how there are so many custom sprites specifically designed to look more like the characters than the vanilla sprites do. really does the characters and their uniqueness justice, i think.
Great video man ..I just started playing fire emblem and this video popped up on my feed 😂
Lovely to hear. I hope you enjoy the franchise and keep playing, it's an awesome game. And hopefully you enjoy the other videos I have on the game :)
@kratosmvn_ I have been on a watching spree of all your videos.. they are so good❤️.. also rip knoll😂
LET'S GO KNOLL STAYS ON TOP... or at least on middle!
Brought to you by a Knoll defender
The middle is Knoll's best, so we're all proud of him!
eirika doesnt get a little hat. therefore, joshua is superior.
And that's science
I’m not even two minutes in and this is peak, the hat is perfect.
I love the hat mod!
The hat truly is the best part. ❤️
Gotta love that hat
Great video as always Kratos!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
So good!
Bro, have you considered doing a series, where you bring solo/duo/trio runs replacing the fe7 lords with fe8 units on HHM?
I haven't thought about it, but it is a pretty interesting idea I'll keep it in mind, thanks for the suggestion.
Joshua? Probably hard just due to the map of the gorgons. The rest... I think he'll not do bad at all until the demon king.
Honestly was kind of the opposite lol.
Interesting run! Btw: take a shot for every "Crit City" 😜
Oh god... I'm sorry for your liver hahaha
Hurray!! Another solo run! Thank you Kratos!
No worries, thank you for watching :D
I love Tirado's death quote, because I always skip through it, so's always just like "Very impressive...However..." *dies*
It is pretty funny that's true haha.
my prediction. yes yes he can. xD excited to see this
👀
Regarding Joshua's bad luck. He's actually only really been shown being unlucky in two instances. The first is during chapter 5, just before he's recruited. The second is in his supports with L'Arachel, where he cheats and still loses.
He actually cheats in almost all of his supports so him having average luck is actually fairly accurate, Joshua doesn't have bad luck. He cheats most of the time, and whenever he loses it's significant because he cheated. He also probably cheated a loss during his recruitment dialogue considering he has the hots for Natasha.
Yeah, but with how OFTEN the luck is mentioned I would think it would be a more significant part of the unit.
@@kratosmvn_ that's the thing though. It ISN'T luck, it's all a lie. Kind of like his character.
Hail to the King
The King of Hats!
I know Thanksgiving was yesterday, but we are FEASTING today
LMAO, happy late Thanksgiving
What the? Joshua with a hat killed Joshua without a hat? How did you make that happen? Aren't they the same character folder in Builder? Now I want to give him a hat but that made me so confused.
I override Eirika in Builder so technically the first Joshua is Eirika.
@@kratosmvn_ Oh...yeah that makes sense. You broke me for a few days ngl.
We built Crit City
We built Crit City
We built Crit City with Killing Edge!
LMAO!
That's perfect.
KRATIS NOOOO! You did him before Marisa, you doomed her! I'm very disappointed in you. XD Jokes aside it's always good to see more video's from ya.
It was strategic I was keeping Marisa for after to skew the results in her favour ;)
Never realized how bad Joshua's defenses were. He's the definition of a glass cannon. Arkantos solo run when?
Yep very much a glass canon. I don't know how I could bring Arkantos to FE lol, but I know for a fact it's impossible in AoM lol.
"Im pretty sure the little hat gave us luck"
I'm pretty sure it did the opposite.
I think you might be right lmao.
My beautiful crimson boy! Honestly, super jealous of the little hat mod 🤩
Little hat made him even cooler.
There should be a little death counter in the corner to see how many times you died in a solo run
Yeah, some runs would be a little crazy lmao.
Liked and subbed for the little hat
Heck yeah, thank you very much :)
thank goodness for that little hat
Perfect little hat!
Missed these!!
Sorry it took so long to get back to.
Love this character so fkin much
He's awesome!
See the thing about Joshua's bad luck is it's not a literal terrible luck stat, it's the fact that he reaches into the RNG itself and gives you terrible levelups while granting the enemy like a 70% Great Shield rate.
LOL, it's a special code in the game.
I think 15% Crit boost will provide waaay more consistent value, especially with a few points of extra Str going into the tripled damage
It really did a lot of work on the back end of the run.
Can Ewan be the best Trainee?
Joshua is my very favorite boy! I always take him to Swordmaster, it just seems like the canon promotion. Me and my brothers would always high five whenever he got a crit
I've played this game 4 times (2 per route, 1 of which is hard mode) and it only hit me now that Pablo existed twice in Eirika's route.
Yeah he technically retreats I think when you beat him on his map.
Now i want to see a Marisa solo run as well. : )
Marisa will be very interesting can't wait either :)
Yeah, Im so so about joshua
Your favourite character I would guess? ;)
I have had that proposition in the past, it might be a possibility at some point, without spoiling anything ;)
@ keeping my eyes peeled 👀
I think what this really exposes is that Joshua is a fun unit but turns out to be mid. Too frail to stand on the front lines, too weak to deal significant damage to bulky targets, not enough Luck to be a true dodge tank monster, stuck with one of the worst weapon types in swords.
Yeah he suffers from a lot of things put together that makes him struggle.
The goat finally gets his time
It's his time to shine!
Welcome to Crit City. Population: Joshua
He runs that city.
WOW. I have never seen joshua without max speed
It was pretty crazy to see if I'm being honest.
joshua is a better Erika.
For real for real
@@27Bayleefs I meant in this game specifically. In other games being sword lock matter a lot less, specially when they have access to better swords.
@@heatth1474 that's true
I usually hate when RUclipsrs ask for likes but... it IS a nice hat.
The Hat is nice ;)
The thing is that Joshua is a really good myrmidon in a game where myrmidon are bad. If he was in fe6, he would be an S tier unit, but since javelins and hand axes rule in this game, he ends up being a useful unit at the start of the game with the armorslayer and nothing more.
True, his game really holds him back.
Joshua may not have the worst luck 'stat' in the game, but he damn sure has the worst luck in the game, never seen so many great shield procs in my life 😂😂😂
Poor guy just kept being hit by the greatshield.
Do you think you'll redo eirika one day considering all you've learned? Great video as always 👏
I will probably end up doing it, hopefully soon, but I can't promise.
little hat already makes him the best run by default regardless of results
You're 100% right!
Ewan
Neimi (this might legitimately be impossible)
Ephraim
Gerik
I also think it would be cool if you tried some of the monster classes.
All runs that will be very cool and interesting.
Sacred stones using only me? Im flattered
It was pleasure ;)
00:00 Hell... It's about time!
The little hat is honestly a nice touch my guess the only reason they didn't do that in base game was he's not a lord/main character so why bother.
Yeah I can understand that, but it felt like such a small adjustment haha.
Yes, grammatically, are you well absolutely correct for 18:18
Have you done Innee or Neimi yet?
No not yet, but working on it.
Can you beat Sacred Stones with Eliwood? I'd love to see you try that one as a small spin-off.
That could be a funny spin-off lol.
Little hat for the win!
Joshua to this day is my favorite of FE characters.
Awesome, glad I could give him his own solo run
Left a like for the hat!
Heck yeah!
Hail to the King, baby!
King of crits and king of hats.
It sounds like you might be saying “mute” argument instead of “moot” argument. Just in case you didn’t know: you definitely want the word “moot” for moments like these.
You're totally right, my mistake!
Next one should be a challenge, the final trainee…Ewan.
I don't know if anyone asks for Seth run !
The most Seth hero of all Seth units of all the Seth Emblem Series !
Seth please !
Seth has been a pretty popular ask. I'll definitely do it at some point.
@kratosmvn_ ^^ Hype !
Little hat! Little hat!
LITTLE HAT!
Joshua has the problem of being a myrmidon. He lacks the strength to back up his skill and strength ususally. He can dodge-tank, but he does need some support to do it properly. He's only really reliable with hard-mode bonuses, and without is pretty interchangable with Marisa.
He doesn't have great strength that is true. However, there are no hard mode bonuses in FE8 for enemies that join and become allies.
@@kratosmvn_ I must be misremembering then.
Time for the GOAT
🐐🐐🐐
Yeeeeaaaaah people love Joshua as a character and he's relatively easy to use so I feel a lot of people overestimate how good he really is. Being swordlocked is just really bad in this game. Rutger can get away with it because of the game he's in, accuracy is way more important, physical 1-2 range is super inaccurate, plus just being an insanely strong unit in general. In FE7 and FE8 anyone who doesn't have 1-2 range options is at a huge disadvantage.
I agree, it is unfortunate for sword locked unit in FE7 and FE8
Seeing swordmaster like that, makes me miss playing lyn in fe 7
Her promote make her similar to swordmaster and as we know lyn animation is very cool when she crit
Lyn's promo looks very cool, I enjoy it a lot.
@kratosmvn_ yep, but too bad her final weapon is kinda... As*
Even tho the crit animation so far is one of the best, but crit rate of that weapon is too low and the weapon is heavy as f**k 🙃
Just here for the Hat-kun appreciation ;)
Little hat goes hard
Little hat FTW
