"One load of assholes were replaced with another load of assholes". One could see those parallels in today's popular music.

I think that’s probably more true now than it was in 1979. “One load of arseholes” actually got replaced with a diverse variety of post punk bands firing off in all different directions, really creative time and some fantastic music made as a result so Johnny’s wrong I think on that. It’s all gone full circle now though, so many boring students making what they think is edgy music, just like the pre punk 70s all over again. The working class just don’t make music anymore, sadly! Except for black artists! Working class counter culture died by the 90s and was replaced by pretentious music students on 6 Music!

it goes to tell people dont listen,,, in this era, he was conflicted of selling out, thats why he chose to collaborate with those avant garde musiciand who made the first 2 lps,,, they were given the freedom by the establishment nontheless, now you look at him and he came to terms for being a sell out, he went full on, maybe his act back then was to go against everything and call punk rock a farse,, its like people idolize him for thinking he got the Queen scared, when in fact they were working for the Queen,,, and people still buy that thhe Sex Pistols were anti establishment,,, they were the establishment themselves, the establishment allowed and had a hand in the formation of the Sex Pistols, etc,,, good marketing, good sounds, good actors,,,

sure but Lydon came from a poor family in Ireland how could the Queen ever take notice of him

    • @johnnyguitar7921

@@Soundeagle3456 well, do you think they just take the chance to put a nobody at the front of one of the mos "radical" bands ever,,, the Queen has eyes, like the Mclaren guy,,,, maybe Sid was poor and a heroin addict,,, but Lydon, i doubt that,,, im thinking he comes from a "union", that his father belonged to,,, nothing new under the sun really,,,, just take a look back at the 60s counterculture,,, jim morrison pretenbdnig to be poor and all,,, but his father was High Elite Military guy,,, im not making this up,,,, but who gives a fuck, right? kill your idols, metaphorically,,, the "lucky" ones get to fake their death and enjoy a calm life and not touring and be a puppet for life,,, like Bobby Dylan,,, guy even admitted he still tours becuase he has a contract to fulfill,,, they probably blackmail all these artists in exchange for well, stardom,,, as in, they cant really get out,,,, read philip ochs statement about how he said he was a CIA agent and all,,, www.amazon.com/Weird-Scenes-Inside-Canyon-Laurel/dp/1909394122 cheers! ps: keith lavene and jah wobble probably got fired from PIL ,,,, still they do not come from poor backgrounds,,, they were just more low profile, but those blokes are kinda born w an advantage in life, or a disadvantage,,, you have to be a deciever to make it,,, most of the times,,, i just jibi jabbing here oh well

That's probably the *closest AND accurate* assessment of them I've come across. As for the one saying he came from Ireland, he is English born from Irish parents
