I think it looks so much better than the initial official image and gives a completely different vibe. Also for people not 100% sold on it, remember it will look different in the film. The Batman suit looked weird behind the scenes but fantastic with movie magic
The OG S emblem inspiration is 🔥
Yeah idk about that photo reveal haha but this costume works
Love the vibrant colours of everyone on the set, and it finally makes me realise something that has been misssing in live action adaptations of superheroes. In comics, animation and games, even the non-super characters have deliberate design choices applied to them; they are not just people dressed in drab civilian clothes.
If you look at the set photos of Lois Lane, she just pops out, the colours that she wears compliment Superman's colour, because they are meant to be together. She looks like she comes straight out of a comic book or STAS. I love it.
I never realized this but its true. Jimmy Olsen in the comics doesn't just wear normal clothes, he's wearing green sweaters and bowtie. He's got a design to adapt even if its not as iconic.
absolutely. Not to beat a dead horse, but every Lois Lane scene I can remember from the snyderverse, she's dressed in neutral colors and professional business clothes, along with all the filtering in those movies, it really just muddied the visual clarity overall.
@@ProjektTakuif we get green jimmy I’ll cheer
I'm just happy the costume is blue, yellow and red (as opposed to dark blue, mustard and maroon, as it's been in films since Superman Returns)
Same. I hate when blue, yellow, and red Supermen suits turn out to be black, mustard, and burgundy😭
@@ProbablyUltraman I see where’s you’re coming from. I personally think Superman with a gold belt and shield logo with sky blue and bright red would look really tasteful. They used an ugly dark mustard gold in MoS for ex.
Edit: I don’t think gold is better on Supes btw, I just am biased cause metallic gold is my favorite color and I hate my favorite superhero (Spider-Man) with gold colors 🤣☠️
@@bohemiankyle7206 that's a good pallette! I like red, yellow, and blue, I also like red, *gold*, and blue!
Even Returns used maroon
Yall are really nitpicking over the shades of red, blue, and yellow?? Fucking pathetic.
I think the symbol is the perfect size. I bet it also has a great personality.
It's all about how he uses it
@@rah0210as long as he doesn’t pull it off and throw it at someone 🥁
@@monolith_g He's gonna pull it off and throw it like Captain America's shield
I wasn't a fan of the bagginess at first then I looked at the all star superman suit and Captain America's suit in the MCU.
I'm warming up to it.
It's definitely a top 3 suit.
I'm happy with the suit.
Watch out Nando. I’ve been reading out other RUclipsrs having their videos flagged for using the photos.
The biggest miss for me is the collar. It takes away so much from the strongman aesthetic. I also don’t care for the broccoli head Clark Kent look. But overall the rest looks pretty good.
Since the shorts look super awesome on this costume, hopefully we’ll end up seeing the trunks on Cyclops and Wolverine’s MCU suits.
I think they'll go with the My Adventures with Superman origins for the suit where it's mostly Kryptonian tech/fashion but Ma Kent made the trunks to cover his junk.
14:08 he was also in THE BLACKLIST he was great in it, and it's spin-off show.
They’re using the kingdom come emblem this design specifically is reminiscent of the arrowverse version Brandon routh had on
I know its not fair to make an actor take steroids but i wish superman was a bodybuilder level physique
It's all personal preference. I guess it'll all come down to the tone of the movie. It really really doesn't work for me, but we'll see.
I like the idea of double suits, a kryptonite space armour he inherits from his birth family and a man-made one that his adoptive family makes
All time favorite 😊🎉❤🎉
I love that their filming in Cleveland cuz that’s where Siegel
And Shuster are from 😊
Brandon rouths returns and kingdom come suits are amazing except the trunks, and it’s a multiverse story
Returns movie could’ve been perfect if they did what man of steel became to be , but years before
.. I really wanted bale and routh to meet :(
Dang it... again at the Crazy side of RUclips.
❌ Superman
✅ Knickerman
I like the suit, but I'm still not on board with the lines; if they had gotten rid of them, it would look like his mom made it, which would have been faithful to the comics.
Real missed opportunity to not call them Super Shorts
Or is it a combination of alien culture and human culture because don’t forget what James Gunn said about this film “superman is balancing his kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing”
My only real complaint is that the suit is so baggy on him
To be honest, I was never that concerned with the costume itself. The Snyder version of it sucked, to be sure, and most of all was just indicative of a bad interpretation of the character. But aside from that, I'd allow for a _lot_ of wiggle room on the aesthetics. What I care about is, will the portrayal and writing of the character be good? I think it will, Gunn is pretty reliable with things like that.
Thoughts on his Clark Kent look with the curly bushy hair?
Are space lines bad?
I wouldn't say bad, but useless
Not bad just overused thanks marvel
With all the soldiers around, it makes me wonder if this is a government issued suit or something similar. Hence why it looks like a military take on a Superman suit. Since every comic book movie has changes to the suit each movie, I also wonder who would make the new one or how the suit would change in the next
I think the costume looks good!
Please do, because when it ends at episode 8, only then you could do more of it.
Batman fan cast video when?
They gave him mcu lines bruuuh it doesn’t even look alien it looks militaristic. I mean the colors are great, I love the trunks and belt, and the cape rocks, but the material looks too thick and bulky like a spirit halloween costume. That collar is also kinda lame they should’ve just went with the wide collar. I feel like this is the safest and most middle ground crowd pleasing suit the dcu could’ve given us. I trust James Gunns vision but I just don’t want this to be another marvel movie with a dc skin. I hope this Superman costume gets a revamp or just ditches it all together
I hope they edit that suit in post because that man David worked out for 2 years for this role and HE GOT MUSCLES YALL
they’re called. trunks. rename the video!
I really liked the middle ground that My Adventures with Superman struck where the costume was Alien and the trunks were made by Ma Kent. I can for sure see something like that happening here as well.
I’m hoping she makes either the cape or trunks. Or a separate intro costume like Superman & Lois
Ma Kent making trunks in the 60s through the 80s makes sense but in the modern age? Maybe she's a wrestling fan?
@@SIMON_SAYS_SOMa Kent’s still a farmer, and as a result of practicality, it would make sense that she would not only be able to sew in order to mend clothes, but likely know how to make other forms of clothes due to other complications with shopping in earlier times for her possibly. Either way, it’s not too out of character. Hell, maybe even Pa Kent knows how to sew a bit in this version for similar reasons as previously stated.
@@SIMON_SAYS_SO it's probably to not see the bulge
@@SIMON_SAYS_SO Her being a wrestling fan would be funny, so I'm all for that!

I am 100% in favor of Superman not being afraid to look like Superman.
I think part of the "space lines" malarkey is it means you can have a form-fitted outfit without it being straight spandex. Comics characters are effectively nude forms painted blue a lot of the time; that just doesn't work in real life. Affordances have to be made if you want to use superior textiles (as in, stuff that holds up for stunts and closeups), so the creases hide behind these purposeful looking embellishments.
Also neoprene sucks to work with, but I'm sure the pros are better at it than I, so I won't count that directly against the theory.
I agree, it breaks up a lot of the empty space, which is what a lot of clothing in real life does as well
"People wouldn't need the S to know it's him."
Up in the sky, it's a bird, it's a plane.
It’s BrightBurn!😂 everyone run for the hills!
I liked the origin of the "my adventure with superman" costume. It s a kryptonian battle armor but the kent added short and belt
The suit is absolutely phenomenal, it's proud of itself, it pops, it's beautiful. Also Terrific's jacket is absurd and i need it
People have been so conditioned to not engage with anything that isn’t “realistic” or doesn’t fit their very specific view of what art should be, and they will try to convince you somehow this makes them superior. The suit looks bright and fun and goofy and that is an extremely good thing.
The costume screams HOPE and Mr. Terrific is perfect
Don’t you mean Terrific!

I'm in love with this suit. It has everything I wanted. The trunks, the shield on the cape and bright colors. The reveal shot didn't do it any favors. I also don't mind the collar anymore.
It's not trunks....it's short!! Repeat after me...SHORTS!

Nah, Routh's Kingdom Come suit is the best.
@@AlessioAlessiWell… no, no you haven’t. The materials used are kind of objectively high quality and complex, so if someone tried to recreate this suit it would be pretty hard to do. But go to the dollar store and make it then if that’s the case, I’d buy it from you
You know nothing about superman or anything really, narc @@AlessioAlessi
I agree
Yeah, I think the impression is that flat colours on live action suits look like a haloween costume - hence the space lines, and all the added texture.
It's always been funny to me, because like, the aversion to comic-style suits always seem to come from a place of being worried that it'll look too kiddy. But that fear itself seems like the childish thinking. Maybe just don't be afraid to lean into it. If you are, you're only trading being seen as a child to being seen as a 14 year old
The trunks looks exactly how they should. Why don’t people like em 😮
Well because it looks like underwear 😅
They are a little silly and that's GOOD. The look comes from circus strongmen who also look a little silly. If we got rid of every slightly silly detail from the past we would have all heroes running around in MCU suits that take the life and fun out of the characters.
@@elijahdavila3684 Yeah, except what works in the comics doesn't always work on screen. Heck, Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman outfit worked even better than her classic outfit. The hoplite mini skirt gives her more of a Greek warrior vibe than the classic briefs did.
@@vetarlittorf1807 I agree complete comics accuracy doesn't always work on screen. But I think the trunks do indeed work better for Superman than no-trunks in live action. Imo the trunks here on Corenswet's suit look a lot better than the blue rubber bulge on Cavill's suit. I agree that WW looks more like a Greek demigod and less like an American swimsuit model with the skirt.
@@elijahdavila3684 I'm just having trouble taking a grown man with briefs over his pants seriously. It's an outdated design based on 1930's circus strongmen. Honestly, they should have gone with the New 52 design.
I also find it strange that people complained about Henry Cavill's Superman suit not having trunks but nobody complained about Ben Affleck's Batman suit not having trunks.
I’ll always say the way they introduced rob’s batsuit is how they should reveal the super suits moving foward. We got a sense of the feeling the suit evokes in like 15 seconds. And I’ll always especially appreciate it because that batsuit is so much different then the typical suits we were used to at the time 👐
Same with revealing Joaquin's Joker. I love little vignettes like that.
I actually like the slight baggyness of the suit, it makes it feel more like casual clothing rather than armor.
It looks far more comfortable
The armor would logically be comfortable
I want my Superman with muscles on his muscles bulging out of muscles contained in a suit showing every intricate threading of said muscle.
@@Byronic19134 Why? He's not Shazam or a Liefeld drawing...
This bts sold me on the suit and movie way more than the official one did
I swear the first reveal of the suit we got in April really didn't do this suit justice because OMG THIS IS PEAK SUPERMAN🤩🔥
I truly love how much the colours really pop on the suit and David Corenswet looks perfect as Superman and as Clark Kent (really dig the curly messy hair).
Mr Terrific also looks absolutely terrific 👍 (pun intended)
Rachel Brosnahan as Lois also looks amazing as Lois as she is absolutely slaying in the iconic purple 💜
Love seeing the whole Daily Planet staff together as the whole cast looks great.📸
I love the look. The collar, the shorts, the cape. Its fantastic. Not to mention Edi Gathegi's Mister Terrific, that thing is absolutely PERFECT!
Imo superman suits that dont have the trunks draw more attention to his crotch. I think the plain blue just extending into his private regions makes it look like he's wearing a morphsuit in which its gonna be awkward whether he has a bulge or is mysteriously flat. The trunks cover him up a little and break up the costume. Plus it's weird to have a belt with no noticeable reason to wear a belt. Like why would you have a belt in the middle of your solid costume?
Its a nice looking suit. And it doesn’t look like it’s padded with fake muscles.
It’s just that David is fucking HUGE
Inspired by all star supes who didn't have muscles iirc
Suit looks great imo and will probably look even better in the movie 🔥 The Clark Kent look and everyone else we've seen so far also look spectacular!
The costume looks great, also love our look at Mr Terrific.
Everything has come full circle. A geration grew up on the CW, now everything they create has the aesthetic thew grew up with. The circle of life.
Lol yes its looks like cw budget 😂😂😂😂 trash
Wearing the trunks washes away the dark grimey terrible Snyderverse. It's not a good thing but a great thing.
We do not call it The Cleve. We call it The Land.
I love how bright the colors on the suit are. Hopefully they keep it because just the color alone will help give these new DC movies a different feel from the previous ones and honestly most superhero movies in general
My hope is that this is pretty much Kryptonian gambeson that gets damaged throughout the film (like the battle damage we saw in the first promo image), and the last scene we see is a more classic rendition. In my head he saves a kid who compliments his new look, and he just responds with "thanks. My mom made it."
Now THATS Superman.
I hope they edit that suit in post because that man David worked out for 2 years for this role and HE GOT MUSCLES YALL
In the context of armor I believe the little things that stick out over the backs of the hands are called "demi-gaunts". Usually they would be made of flat metal and worn over mail gauntlets to offer more protection than the mail alone from that one direction.
I live in Cleveland. This is so cool they’re filming here right now. Haven’t seen any of the cast yet but seeing the daily planet signs and film crews was exciting. Spider-Man 3, Avengers and Winter Soldier also had a lot of scenes filmed here as well.
Being in a city while a major blockbuster films has to be an incredible feeling. I live in the middle of nowhere, nothing interesting or important ever happens here. Movies might as well film on Neptune, for all I know.
Weren’t Siegel and Shuster originally from Cleveland?
@@AdamYJ yeah they were. At the main library in downtown Cleveland there’s an entire floor dedicated to them and comic books.
@@PeridotEX honestly I’m sick of the city lol
@@SS4Luxray fair enough lol. The grass is always greener on the other side.
I dont really like the way it fits on him, but I think the base design is good. Definitely appreciate the color!
I think the way it fits is intentional because the Christopher Reeves suit also looks slightly baggy and Reeves built muscle as well.
I’m honestly a huge fan of this suit. I could do with at least a few less space lines but I’m not completely disheartened by them being there. I like the collar, I think it’s just the right height. And the cape is pretty perfect imo. I like a big cape
I live in Cleveland and I have never heard someone call it The Cleve. I’ve heard The CLE where you say each letter but never the first thing.
Never liked the shorts/undees but they made it work. Also I’m pretty sure the Kent’s were able to deconstruct and recreate the fabric just by pulling on a loose thread… for a while. Still prefer Cavil’s suit but that may be subject to change
The suit rocks.
11:32 I think this identity crisis is going to be central to the movie. By the end, he might have a modified version of the suit or completely different "classic" looking one!
He has shorts!
💯
They are more boxers
The costume REALLY REALLY need that red in the middle it looks SO MUCH better than that boring ocean of blue!
What the hell was the first image? Was it edited badly on purpose or something?
Mister Terrific looks terrific.
For the Record as a native Clevelander...nobody calls it "The Cleave". We call it "The Land" or "The CLE"...but even that is said like it were initials i.e. The C.L.E.
This has been a public service announcement. Good evening everyone
Yeah I used to live 15 minutes outside Cleveland and never have I heard it called “The Cleave”
nando the best ngl
I can't wait for another disappointing Superman movie!
Superman is open and straight forward. His outfit should communicate strength, heroism, trustworthiness. The high collar connotes authority, which sends the wrong message. It is better than the New 52 version, but the open neck works better for the character. Same with his cuffs. They shouldn't cover any of the hand. And all the extra lines just make it busy.
My favorite version of Superman suit is the one from stories like Birthright or Secret Origin, in which Martha, after seeing Jor El and the kriptonians holograms uses the designs of their suits to create Clark's costume, making it represent Clark's both heritages (Krypton and Earth). In the case of Corenswet, I have a theory they will go with something similar to Grant Morrison's run or MAWS, with Clark using a kriptonian suit but Martha added some details.
I love just how wide he looks in full body. That boy looks corn fed and that’s what matters. My Superman flies to Smallville after work, houses a sirloin in ten seconds flat, drains his beer, and then throws some bales up on a truck for Pa before he flies home to watch Below Deck with Lois.
Btw after seeing this costume, Henry Cavill's superman will always look naked to me: jacked blue body, no underwear
Trunks. Not shorts. Trunks. Shorts implies short pants. Gym shorts kinda. But not shorts.
Shorts have a zipper & can be made from (tailored, hemmed, with scissors & sowing) slacks, pants, trousers, cargo pants, or jeans.
I wonder what David corenswet Superman theme will sound like 🤔
Probably like an updated Christopher Reeves Superman theme. I mean that song screams hopeful vibes
Techno Jazz
Superman’s best suit in his entire history in my opinion is the DC Rebirth suit. I love how it looks colorful and classic, with the fact that it has a good neckline with no collar and no weird hand coverings, but it also drops the trunks. I respect the history of the trunks but c’mon, they’re just too much. Whenever people make fun of superheroes they bring up the “undies on the outside of their pants looking dumb” and like… are they wrong? Instead Rebirth Supes has a red belt with a gold buckle, which keeps the colors of the gold belt with red trunks but it feels more practical, modernized, and realistic. The closest we got to this in movies is probably Henry Cavill’s BvS suit, which I still hold is Superman’s best live-action appearance.
I think the suit we are seeing is Kryptonian and more like battle armor, but as he deals with his heritage and being on Earth, he’ll adopt the classic suit and emblem. It’ll be like a transition to his human life while honoring his alien side as well, mashing the two together.
If you saw the pics of Corenswet at the beach you'll see why there was never really any other option 😐
I love the new suit, it's peak!
I'm always gonna be the outlier when it comes to this, but I've always hated trunks... On every character, no matter what. Like, designs can move past them, while making it work without them. It's all about fabric and patterns so you can break the solid colors. Rebirth was the best at it, and Superman and Lois's suit is still the best suit without trunks.
3:20 the "Kingdom Come" S is not doing it for me. The design of this logo looks like a diamond with a red band on it. Oh well, I am trying to keep an open mind on this baggy, different S logo suit.
Very mixed feeling about that costume but I'll wait to see it in scenes.
Gotta represent the cleve
Was legit surprised this video didn’t come out 5 minutes after the photos dropped. I thought my notifications were broken. 😂
I like shorts! They’re comfy and easy to wear!
I am very happy with this costume. As you've said, the colors and the shorts are great. I think it sucessfully does something different with the character while giving us what we want to see. I wasn't a fan of all those muscles on Cavill's suit, glad they didn't bring it back
People are hating on the shorts but I say Gunn should have went full WWE and had Corinswett wearing nothing but the red boots and spandex like full Hulkmania.
But I do actually believe Gunn did a great job of modernizing the panties look by having it come off more like a hockey uniform then a a wrestling one.
My only gripe is Mr. Terrific is too comic accurate I’m not a fan of the flat top shape up it’s to old school.
I don’t understand the obsession with the shorts. You guys don’t insist that Batman wear muscle shorts, or Robin! I haven’t seen anyone freaking out that a teenage Robin Isn’t running around in muscle shorts. You don’t insist Wolverine wear muscle shorts? WTF is the gen X obsession with only Superman in 1940’s bootie shorts?!
I would love the explanation for the shorts to be that Ma Kent thought the suit was a little too tight in the crotch and made him those to give him a bit more modesty. You could even have Clark say something like, "Yeah, I know they look a bit silly, but I wear them to honor my Mom."
Let’s be honest I feel like out of anything. People have complain about with the MCU. The costume designs are the most nit picky of the complaints. I’ve seen a vision cosplay compared to the MCU vision before and I still prefer to the MCU vision. I’ve seen comparisons of people who’ve drawn invincible with the MCU lines and he looks way better.
Agreed. Shorts are a win. The boots not so much. Not a big fan on the lines on the suit. Would prefer a tight muscle suit with abs. But the colors are good. Don't need the logo on the cape. Should be bigger if it's going to be there.
I'd also prefer the cape to be bigger. More touching the ground. And I agree, logo on the chest should be bigger. I believe we'll get to the S we all know but I really like the Kingdom Come S logo to start with because it feels more Kryptonian instead of a literal English S.
When it comes to the suit overall, I don't like the aesthetics it's made of. The belt, the tights' textures, it feels a bit plastic and cosplay and not natural, real and tactile. Some might say I'm nitpicking but the fact it enters my mind to think about it and I can't ignore the fact the suit doesn't have a more natural-fitting appearance is its own red flag. When you can look at a suit, suspend disbelief and not question things, you're doing very well. But I think when you see things like this right off the bat without even trying, you need to go back to the drawing board and tighten things up as a designer.
Overall, I feel the suit is good. Not great but it is good. And I believe it'll only get better from here.
