Tbf I don't think we should charcterise such great characters like Superman and Spiderman from their owning comics, these characters are way bigger than dc and marvel.
6:21 just a heads up I don’t think this will be the final logo I think like with man of steel it would be a little too dumb for the house of el symbol to be an exact arial S so I think THIS is the symbol on the suit he found in the FOS people went “it looks like an s let’s call him superman” But by the end of this movie this suit will be damaged and after a pep talk from Marth.. The fact that James Gunn can make you feel for a talking shark is insane. That shot of King Shark in the bus looking at a couple kissing, without any words, the eyes tell you his entire story. James is such a great storyteller.
He did the same thing with the starro at the end of the suicide squad movie with just one statement. He talked about floating through the stars free and he was kidnapped and experimented on by humans. Those were starros’ last words before he died. That stuff was so sad man. I felt sorry for a giant alien star fish monster with just a statement. James Gunn is brilliant.
That's why I like versions like the CW where the cape is a blanket he was sent to earth with and the main costume is made on earth. It gives him that connection to krypton and an explanation for why his costume isn't destroyed, cuz he just blocks with the cape, but he can still have the homemade suit
The two things I want from the new Superman is that he's actually Superman, a happy cheerful guy who sees the best in humanity and humankind and not some super emo homelander-ish superhero cosplaying as Superman and most importantly, I agree, GIVE HIM HIS DAMN CURLY HAIR, not some swept up hair that makes him look like a damn engineer nerd from the 70s
@@samuelterry6354 Being positive/cheerful and being "happy all the time" are two completely different things. He should ALWAYS be positive. Even when things are the absolute worst they could ever be, it's his job to be hopeful, to lift others up from despair. When he's being superman, he should always be cheerful when dealing with other people, and be stern when he's dealing with threats but not angry or emo. When he's not performing superman though, that's when he can really show the full range of emotions. It's superman's job to inspire people, it's clark kent's job to feel how he feels
@@apersonwhomayormaynotexist9868 I agree with all that. I hope that's the take we see. As long as he's shown to be a guy with normal human emotions and flaws, not just one note 100% of the time.
What I’m really hoping for is that James Gunn utilizes Superman’s wider range of powers. I want to not only see flight and laser vision but also freeze breath and x ray vision and some of these other powers that don’t get enough screen time imo
I think that Grant Morrison explained Superman’s suit well. He compared it to “a patriotic Scotsman wearing a kilt,” and that’s honestly a pretty great analogy for it. Who gives a shit if it looks “ridiculous” or “stupid,” it’s the clothes of his people. I imagine the Superman uniform is just something that people would wear on Krypton, similar to (circling back to Grant Morrison) how Scotsmen used to wear kilts as normal clothes. Sorry for the long comment but I really like the trunks, and that argument has actually convinced a few trunkphobes (patent pending) to switch sides.
I agree, I feel it should be the symbol of the house of El, like a family crest. That’s why I really appreciate and love the way they introduce the suit in Man Of Steel. I like the small detail of the Kryptonian writing in the middle of the crest that flows with the logo.
@@deemurdock_ I loved that Zack Snyder added that lore to his suit That Clark's suit is just a Kryptonian outfit for the aristocratic, political and governmental members
With the heights Peacemaker made especially character-wise, I have no doubt James Gunn will find the pure humanity in the characters of Clark and especially Lex. I can’t wait to see how he handles these characters
23:17 Not necessarily. Pa Kent doesn't always die when Clark was young and sometimes at all and I think it would be more interesting if James Gunn explored Superman with having both his parents be alive.
I think the best move would be to go the Post-Infinite Crisis (2006) route. Have Jonathan live until he dies in the middle of Clark’s career, like in Superman: Brainiac.
Wanting Pa Kent alive is one of the things I'm hoping for, we haven't had that in live action since Lois and Clark and it would just be nice to have it again.
The common misconception of Jonathan Kent, which I felt started because of the 1st Christopher Reeve Superman movie, is that people think that Jonathan Kent's death is what leads Clark Kent to being Superman. Jonathan Kent's death has nothing to do with Clark becoming Superman. Jonathan Kent has even lived long enough for Clark to have a career as Superman in the comics. Jonathan Kent's death is just a trope that only serves the purpose of showing that Clark can't save everyone. It isn't necessary for Clark's journey to being Superman, and I honestly hope that Jonathan Kent doesn't have to die in this latest iteration of Superman.
Smallville is a good example for Superman mythos: 1. Johnathan Kent is a good father, someone who gives advice to Clark about his powers while asilo fear of what would happen if the world found out what he does. While also he will go to great lengths to protect his family 2. Erica Durance is a great Lois lane, smart beautiful independent clever 3. Tom Welling embodies a young Clark Kent someone who wanted to use his powers because he’s a good person not because it’s his destiny despite what the show said 4. Michael Rosenbaum is great as Lex Luther enough said I can’t say what others had said already
Sadly it most likely won't happen, I figured this movie probably wouldn't be a success to begin with but since jurassic world 4 is opening over a week before it then I think it's more than likely going to get torn to shreds
@@jacobwest7 nothing againist Gareth Edwards But Godzilla(2014) was outclassed by James Gunn Guardians Of The Galaxy(2014) in 2014 just based off reviews and Box office fan of both
If Kevin Feige can make Captain America, a “boring” superhero who has old school American values, into an awesome character, James Gunn can do the same with Superman.
@@cantthinkofaname5046 because Batman has a metaphorical war on crime so it’s not a literal soldier it’s more like child labour but bro Captain America was literally storming Normandy 😭 and Bucky was basically the reverse Hitler youth running behind him
I really do hope they get the action right too. As much criticism as Snyder gets, he nailed power Clark had and seeing characters being tossed through buildings just scratches that monkey brain itch of power the characters have
Superman is my favorite fictional character of all time, and I feel very strongly about him. The SECOND you mentioned that the trunks are necessary and that the turtleneck collar isn't great for the costume, it reminded me to ring the notification bell for your channel. Absolutely, insanely based. 👏
I personally don’t like the trunks, especially if it’s a more experienced version of Superman, however if the trunks/underwear is incorporated I am most definitely interested on how it will look like and how it will translate to the big screen.
You know what I want? No attempt at realism. No vapid, trending stuff. No "deconstruction". No generic, pre-chewed action movie that could star any hero. Just a Superman movie. Play it to me straight. Give me Superman doing Superman stuff. It doesn't even need to go that deep, or that complex, just needs to have solid themes, good characters, an engaging story, and awesome fight scenes. Don't try to act like you're smarter than the character, or that he needs to be updated, or changed to fit into worldviews, markets or anything. He's Superman, he doesn't follow trends, trends follow him, damn it.
Fun drinking game take a shot whenever Troy mentions the words ”Superman” I’m having a blast rn EDIT: Not fun do not try this stop immediately learn for my mistakes oh fuck it’s so bad
The ONE thing I wanna see in a god damn Superman movie, considering Gunn's musical tastes across GotG and Peacemaker, I wanna see Superman be a fucking Metallica fan. It is from the comics (Superboy #83 from 2001 to be exact) and it would be so great to see! I would love to see Supes blasting The Unforgiven (considering the themes of losing a parent in that song also helps for Superman as a character if Pa does die in the film). I think it would also help on a more serious note. It would help build this version of Superman and help it stand on its own two feet since we haven't gotten that it in an adaptation yet. As well as breaking the mold of what people think of metalheads. Metalheads are some of the nicest, compassionate, and wonderful people to talk to yet society views them as vagrants, degenerates, and violent. So I think it could also help that Superman, the Beacon of Hope, a man who just wants to see the world a bit better because he believes it can be, a caring, nice, and compassionate guy, likes this hard and rough music genre could maybe help sway public opinion. But that's just a dream. And we all know, dreams save us.
If he loves musicals you know one way to get a film to be a musical and make sense in universe Bring out Neil on a big purple suit and sing of death traps for the world is his
Two things that I want from the Superman movie. One to be action packed. We need a reminder of why Superman's first outing was titled Action Comics#1 in the first place. Number 2 make Superman human again. Been saying this a million times. The key to making Superman work is to keep him the way he's always been, the adorkable Boy Scout. What makes Superman iconic is that even tho he's not one of us he lives the way most humans do. He loves street food, he jams out to human music, when he's not saving the world he's working a 9-5 desk job. Clark is Just as human as the rest of us. Only difference is he's got Superpowers.
Man of Steel was very action packed, loved it. I liked how MOS showed Supes being an alien pretending to be a human, hiding in plain sight.Until Zod made him reveal himself. This new film has too many guest-shots ( IMHO ) at least Man of Steel was all about-SUPES-and no one else. This new Superman film has it's work cut out for it,it has to appease the Superman hard-core fans ( the ones stuck on a SUPES film from 1978 and won't let go of it-LOL ) then the other Superman fans who just want a GOOD movie. Then there's the casual fans ( who also want a good movie, but, haven't been getting good super-hero films ) like I said-GOOD-LUCK. LOL.
How Crazy is it that we've had 9 cinematic depictions of Superman counting the different cuts of the movies and never seen Metallo, Brainiac, Bizarro, Mongul, War World, Lobo, Parasite, Livewire, Toy man, Mr. Mxyzptlk or even Lex Luthor in a Warsuit.
Yeah it’s kinda annoying, like some I can get how we haven’t gotten them yet like Livewire but how in the ever loving heck have we not gotten Lobo, Bizarro, Mongul, Lex is his god dang War suit, and freaking Brainiac yet like what?!
I know it's an out-there choice, but I would love to see Eric Andre as Steve Lombard. I can easily see him and the rest of the Daily Planet gang being hilarious together and just constantly raising Perry's blood pressure.
The biggest thing I want from Superman is for Clark to simply have his life back. His personality, not just a bumbling disguise, Lois, Jimmy, Perry, The Planet actually being characters we care for. Not just an over focus on the Super, but a focus on the Man. Also, it'd be cool if they brought in Cat Grant, Lombard, and Ron Troupe(often forgotten).
Even The late Christopher Reeve said his "dorky" demeanor wasn't an act He just hammed it up because even as Superman it was still there which I loved of course
About Pa Kent, I wish we had a live action established version of Superman where Johnathan is given time to live, to see his son be the hero and good man he raised, if only we actually got that, and we had BEAUTIFUL, EMOTIONAL scenes of Clark and his Earth father exchanging dialogue, some pep talk, Jon mentoring his son and giving him advice on balancing Clark's hero life and Daily Planet life.. I wish we had that, because it is likely that he'll already be dead (again, but hopefully not cuz C'mon!!!), it's quite a missed opportunity, but regardless, I still look forward to SUPERMAN 2025.
Supergirl and then Superman and Lois both had amazing Lex Luthors, but honestly Jon Cryer from Supergirl is my favorite live action Lex, but Clancy Brown is still my favorite overall.
Reeve’s suit was perfect in every way; the colors, the fit , the symbol, the length of the cape, the shiny boots that stood out (pun not intended) and combined with Reeve’s perfect portrayal really did make us believe a man could fly!
I genuinely CANNOT WAIT for Superman (2025)!!! Everything I've heard about this movie, the casting, the plot, and the passion behind the production are all things I have dreamt of seeing in a Superman movie. I have no doubt that James Gunn will give us something special with this take on Superman. David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Skyler Gisondo, and many other castings are all perfect and may give us some of the best takes on these iconic characters. I especially hope this movie really explores Clark's life not just as Superman but also his work life at the Daily Planet and his supporting cast of characters while also exploring Metropolis and making the city truly feel like a City of Tomorrow and how Metropolis is as much of a character as Superman is, similar to how vital of a character Gotham City is to Batman. I also hope this movie allows us to explore Superman's mythos, Fortress of Solitude and especially his incredibly underrated Rogues Gallery of supervillains other than constantly using Lex, Zod or Doomsday (even though I am okay with Lex being in the movie). Give us other Superman villains, like Metallo, Parasite, Livewire, Brainiac, Toyman, Lobo, Silver Banshee, Ultra Humanite, Mongul, etc...
I hope it feels like a James Gunn film, I hope it’s like the Batman, in the way where it has a special feel about it, like the director put what he want into it, instead of some of the recent films (the marvels, ant-man, aquaman 2) that feel like they came out of a conveyer
I agree with everything you said in this video, nearly to the point of being emotional thinking about all of it (all except the short cape... I do like a longer cape). I absolutely cannot wait to see what Gunn does with the movie and I have more hope and hype for it than any superhero movie ever.
Troy, your videos bring me a certain warm comfort. The topics you choose and the way you discuss them is engaging, thoughtful, and relatable. Comics have been a wonderful hobby to get into this past year. Keep up the great work, man!
6:55 YES! Commented this on Gunn post when he revealed the logo. The movie is about Clark coming to terms with his human and Kryptonian heritage. I'm hoping in the ending he changes the logo to a classic S to represent a merging of his two lives.
I also like the idea of the Kingdom Come logo being the House of El crest from Krypton and then Superman changes it to resemble the letter S to pay tribute to both his Kryptonian heritage and his human upbringing.
And his suit should be a mix of both too Maybe cloth mixed with his Kryptonian and Kent heritage like in the silver age comics where Martha used The Kents ancestor's belt and boots mixed with The House of El's war suit to make his Superman outfit
Something I hope to see in the new Superman film is the use of new villains. I think Superman's rogues gallery is very underrated when comes to films. Outside from Lex and Zod none of his rogues ever got the chance to appear in a live action despite their potential. I would love to see Superman fighting someone like Parasite, Metallo, Brainiac, Livewire or maybe Mr Mxyzptlk. As for Luthor, in this first film at least, he could work as secondary antagonist, seeking to save the city like Superman, but using the wrong methods. For exemple: If the movie is about Superman trying to stop Parasite, it could have him discover that he's not evil but just a victim of accident that turned him into a power-addict monster. While Superman tries to cure Parasite, Lex just demonize the creature in the media and tries to kill him in order to gain fame as "The man who saved Metropolis from the Parasite".
Superman has such a fascinating rogues gallery. I would love to see some obscure ones like Riot, who's insane and can duplicate himself, or Conduit, a friend from Smallville who was always jealous of Clark beating him in anything and became an assassin.
@@ProjektTaku That would be awesome. Besides them, another obscure villain I would love to see being use is Master Jailer. Much like Conduit, he's also Clark's friend from Smallville, but his driven by his obsession for Lana Lang (he's basically Superman's Mad Hatter). His presence in the film would be a good justification to bring Lana Lang to the story and the plot explore her relationship with Clark in the past, since it's really important part of Superman's origin, showing how Clark decision to leave Smallville had consequences and lead to the break up of their relationship
@@alexandrefrauches132 I kinda like that idea, especially since a weirdo stalker, while seemingly low stakes and kinda smallville meteor freak-of-the-week, harkens back to Superman fighting abuser's and thugs, not just "save the world".
@@ProjektTaku Exactly. Even though I'm ok with Superman being super and dealing with bigger threats, it's important to show him dealing with small threats, have how for the Man of Steel, no problem, be bigger or small, is insignificant. He always tries to help anyone. Plus, a type of story like these would be a opportunity for the film to finally explore Clark Kent as investigator reporter, looking for clues and try to learn about the villains and how to stop them.
@@alexandrefrauches132 yeah, people forget, but Clark's senses allow him to extract all the info he needs from a crime scene. Super Hearing, Super Smell, Super Vision that allows him to see pretty much any wavelength.
I honestly just want a Superman movie that allows Superman to be Superman, a nice guy who was raised by good people to care about people and try to do the right thing. Zack failed to do this and focused more on the powers of Superman and how people would react to him rather than on who Clark Kent is and why he wants to be Superman. I just hope that James Gunn does justice to Superman's character and doesn't just kill off Jonathan Kent. For the most part, I have the same wants for Superman that this video is showcasing.
brooo ever since i saw the pilot of superman and lois i instantly fell in love with it, i cant wait to watch the 3rd season, man, havent really found any time, but i will, for superman.
Cinematic Universes are annoying. Easy fix? ACTUAL SOLO MOVIES. then just have a justice league movie or whatever where they all come together. you shouldnt have to see the last batman movie to understand the next aquaman movie
All of them should be able to stand alone but also have ties in to other movies if people are watching the whole universe. Sort of a both/and situation
only way i can see that working is for references. we can't have something huge happen in a superman movie that impacts the entire universe@@aaronmoyer4722
Exactly. A movie is good or it’s not good. Not having everything constantly referenced and set up is not gonna hurt a team up movie when the time comes. It limits the individual movies.
13:15 me encantaria que la relación de Jimmy y clark sea como peter y ned en el spiderman del ucm en donde Jimmy descubre su secreto y trata de ayudarlo a combatir contra el crimen
Watching this video has hyped me up so much for the Superman movie and I really hope most of what you said happens! And I also agree with the trunks argument, it really does add a nice contrast to all the blue and overall balances and ties the whole suit together.
I first found this channel from a Superman video, and I stuck around because I liked the vibes. Excited to have so much Superman content in the coming years!
I know all these characters have been cast, but I truly believe some of them could be a single scene, or even a single line. Guy Gardner shows up to speak to the alien on Earth. Mr. Terrific helps Superman with a little tech problem. He just goes to Hawkgirl for advice. Stuff like that, because we don’t really know their place yet
I kinda agree with the trunks argument you have . I think if they use it they should stop making the setting look like New York and instead give us the fantastical architecture of metropolis form comics and animated series . Sort of how Burton made Gotham . I bet people would eat this up
I'm so stoked that panels to pixels recommended you on their most recent video. As a new subscriber I got to say your content is awesome bro. Keep up the good work the comic book community appreciates you.
I agree on the high collar looking too militarized. I think it works great for something like Superman: Red Son, but I don't like it for a traditional Supes costume

i really love your point on The Daily Planet and the overall importance of journalism for not only Superman but superheroes in general. literally, my favorite comic book character is Ben Urich
Two things: 1 - Michael Rosenbaum is easily the best Lex in live-action, and I actually doubt he'll be surpassed. 2 - About the Daily Planet, I'd love if newspapers were still a thing. Like, this DC world being a retrofuturistic place, that Lois Lane, a reporter, could actually be essentially the most important person on the whole planet, simply for how great she is at being a writer. It would not only be nostalgic for when that was true in our world, but set it up as its own modern world. Gunn keeps comparing this DC Universe to Westeros or Star Wars, that unlike Marvel, DC is its own world, not ours. This choice of a retrofuturism would be terrific for visually stating this idea.
I think a scene that needs to happen in a future Superman film is Superman appearing on a Mr.Rogers/Sesame Street type of children’s programming talking about the importance of truth, justice, and a better tomorrow. Even better, have the Mr. Roger’s stand in also be the Toyman.
Here Is What I Want For Superman 2025 1)Lex Luthor Not Being The Only Villain With Him As An Overarching Villain With Parasite, Metallo, Toyman, Bizarro, Ultra-Humanite Or Mongul As The Main Villain/Final Boss
They didn't give Routh contacts to match Christopher Reeve. They gave him contacts to honor the source material because Superman in the comics has unearthly blue eyes. It's long established comic canon. The glasses help to filter to color to make it less noticeable.
Dude i really enjoy your videos, videos like the Spidey College Triliogy and your Nightwing pitch are so high quality and some of my favorite videos. I look forward to your future videos!
As much as Pa Kent’s passing has a place in the Superman’s mythos, would honestly prefer if he and Ma were still alive in the DCU, it would be a nice change of pace for once. It’s not some thing that’s absolutely necessary per se, and Superman can still be an effective character in spite of it.
I agree with almost every single thing you said. The only thing I don't agree with you on is the trunks. I COMPLETELY understand where you're coming from; I'm also a huge, lifelong fan of Superman's through all types of media- Fleischer cartoons, comics, tv shows, movies, animated series. But I think the look of the trunks is too tied to the Golden Age era whence Superman originated-- if we can get updates on the "S" insignia to reflect modern sensibilities over the past 86 years, then there's no reason why the same can't be done for the trunks. The action suit needs to look bright, joyous, and friendly... but the briefs/trunks could be the kind of thing that people unconsciously cite as a reason to dismiss Superman as "too goofy" or "outdated." Evolve or die, y'know? And the character of Supes has shown that it most definitely is able to evolve. Excellent video. First time checking out your stuff... liked and subscribed.
The main thing I'm mostly scared is that James might be using a mix of "Superman and the Authority" With all the characters being cramed in the movie, "Kingdome Come" with the way superheroes changed for the worst and a calling for classic superheroes and some all star superman just to be sure. I like James Gunn style to make movies, but I can't stop the feeling that he will make another "we are a broken family" trope that he made in all his superheroes movies. I LIKE IT, it's just that I feel superman need something more... I am hyped, sorry
I still don't know why these studios aren't mining people like you and Nando and other storytellers to try and make better....stories. 🤷♂️ You've always got a fresh take and I appreciate it even if its not a story I agree with.
You mentioned you’d wanna see Superman have a personality, so I’d love to see his sense of humor from the comics, the pranks he pulls sometimes Also Michael Rooker as Bibbo, make it happen AND PLEASE MAKE THE TEEN TITANS PITCH NEXT now that they announced a movie
i just said the same thing too! I want to hear his opinions on the Teen titans movie, also I REALLLY hope they use the 2003 titans show lineup. point blank period
Ive been wanting James Gunn to Direct a Superman movie since Guardians Of The Galaxy(2014) yeah keep it simple and make him Hopeful Superman has been favorite since The Donner Film
8:33 Fun fact is that there used to be a rule in the Superman character Bible that if he was not wearing his suit/trunks he COULD NOT fly. The saying was called “no tights,no flights*
That's not what the "no tights, no flights" rule meant. It was a rule specifically made for smallville that said their version of superman would never suit up in the classic blue and red, and he would never fly, hence "no tights, no flights"
I want the movie to be full of villains. I don’t want James to try to make Superman fight a bunch of villains in 1 movie but make it clear that they exist. Superhero movies in general are written in a way that make it seem like the hero hasn’t fought an actual supervillain for ages after they beat the previous supervillain. Like MCU Spider-Man’s first villain was the vulture, then like a year or years later depending on the snap his second villain was Mysterio, immediately after that he fought the 5 villains from other universes. My point is, having the hero fight only regular criminals and rarely fight actual villains can make the world they live in and the city they protect feel bland. Having ample villains make the world and city feel more alive and this version of Clark has been Superman for what a year or 2 so he’s bound to have some villains. So the movie could have an opening scene of Superman defeating atomic skull before going to work, a scene where Jimmy has old Daily Planet papers on his wall and one of them mentions the ultra humanite, and an ending scene where Clark goes into a phone booth to turn into Superman and fly off to save metropolis from Live Wire. And I really hope James and the future of the DCU doesn’t do the worn out trope of villains always dying or having them learn who the hero is. They’re both overdone, predictable, and having the hero’s identity being discovered is now a cheap crutch of making the story more dramatic. I want a movie that gets more dramatic without the villain learning who the hero is and they go to jail instead of dying. Look at Spider-Man stories and how the villains sometimes target Peter and his loved ones without them knowing he’s Spider-Man. And how sometimes the writers tricked fans into thinking that the villains learned who Spider-Man is but they didn’t
Excellent list, I couldn't agree more! I'm also really hoping Gunn makes this movie distinct, and it doesn't constantly reference or pay homage to Superman '78.

What I’m really hoping for is that James Gunn utilizes Superman’s wider range of powers. I want to not only see flight and laser vision but also freeze breath and x ray vision and some of these other powers that don’t get enough screen time imo
Correct!

I like the small detail of the Kryptonian writing in the middle of the crest that flows with the logo.
hi
Damn never thought of it like that, makes a lot of sense. I used to be fully anti trunks but now i am kinda switching sides
@@fakehappyfilms Hey man.

"[the trunks] look too silly/campy" good, I like it when movies are fun to watch.
Agreed
@@StareachValcin agreed
Smallville is a good example for Superman mythos:
1. Johnathan Kent is a good father, someone who gives advice to Clark about his powers while asilo fear of what would happen if the world found out what he does. While also he will go to great lengths to protect his family
2. Erica Durance is a great Lois lane, smart beautiful independent clever
3. Tom Welling embodies a young Clark Kent someone who wanted to use his powers because he’s a good person not because it’s his destiny despite what the show said
4. Michael Rosenbaum is great as Lex Luther enough said I can’t say what others had said already
i want this superman to have a trilogy

Sadly it most likely won't happen, I figured this movie probably wouldn't be a success to begin with but since jurassic world 4 is opening over a week before it then I think it's more than likely going to get torn to shreds

If he loves musicals you know one way to get a film to be a musical and make sense in universe
Bring out Neil on a big purple suit and sing of death traps for the world is his
Two things that I want from the Superman movie.
LOL.
I really hope the DCU starts to make alot of the mainstream stereotypes of DC and especially Superman go away.
its already started with both TV Shows Superman & Lois and My Adventures With Superman
What about Bill Burr lol
The biggest thing I want from Superman is for Clark to simply have his life back. His personality, not just a bumbling disguise, Lois, Jimmy, Perry, The Planet actually being characters we care for. Not just an over focus on the Super, but a focus on the Man. Also, it'd be cool if they brought in Cat Grant, Lombard, and Ron Troupe(often forgotten).
Even The late Christopher Reeve said his "dorky" demeanor wasn't an act
He just hammed it up because even as Superman it was still there which I loved of course
Coming back to say that in case you've missed it, yes, Cat, Steve, and Ron are all going to be in the movie as well. :)
fun fact:
superman and lois is the only cw show that deserves an 8/10 yet doesnt have it.
About Pa Kent,
I wish we had a live action established version of Superman where Johnathan is given time to live, to see his son be the hero and good man he raised, if only we actually got that, and we had BEAUTIFUL, EMOTIONAL scenes of Clark and his Earth father exchanging dialogue, some pep talk, Jon mentoring his son and giving him advice on balancing Clark's hero life and Daily Planet life..
I wish we had that, because it is likely that he'll already be dead (again, but hopefully not cuz C'mon!!!), it's quite a missed opportunity, but regardless, I still look forward to SUPERMAN 2025.

IN JAMES GUNN I TRUST
To be fair, they couldn't really do a ton with the Superman and Lois Fortress because they had next to no budget lol

I hope that the Superman suit and the other superhero suits will be a lot more colorful bright and vibrant in the DCU
It would be funny if Mr. Terrific, Guy Gardner, and Hawkgirl didn’t appear until a mid credit scene.
I will be so pissed if this happens
I hope it feels like a James Gunn film, I hope it’s like the Batman, in the way where it has a special feel about it, like the director put what he want into it, instead of some of the recent films (the marvels, ant-man, aquaman 2) that feel like they came out of a conveyer
I agree with everything you said in this video, nearly to the point of being emotional thinking about all of it (all except the short cape... I do like a longer cape). I absolutely cannot wait to see what Gunn does with the movie and I have more hope and hype for it than any superhero movie ever.

YES! Commented this on Gunn post when he revealed the logo.
The movie is about Clark coming to terms with his human and Kryptonian heritage. I'm hoping in the ending he changes the logo to a classic S to represent a merging of his two lives.
He can't change logo if it was on his ship.
I also like the idea of the Kingdom Come logo being the House of El crest from Krypton and then Superman changes it to resemble the letter S to pay tribute to both his Kryptonian heritage and his human upbringing.
same
And his suit should be a mix of both too
Maybe cloth mixed with his Kryptonian and Kent heritage like in the silver age comics where Martha used The Kents ancestor's belt and boots mixed with The House of El's war suit to make his Superman outfit

Loved the ideas with metropolis
I kinda agree with the trunks argument you have . I think if they use it they should stop making the setting look like New York and instead give us the fantastical architecture of metropolis form comics and animated series . Sort of how Burton made Gotham . I bet people would eat this up

When I think of the title of “Superman” I think of Superman: Up in the Sky and that final powerful line “You’re Superman”
Two things:
1 - Michael Rosenbaum is easily the best Lex in live-action, and I actually doubt he'll be surpassed.

I thought Brainiac is gonna be the main antagonist in Superman...
This was an incredible video, love seeing love for Clark and Lois and co

Please. Please find that dawg in you. I need that 27 hour smallville review

Excellent list, I couldn't agree more! I'm also really hoping Gunn makes this movie distinct, and it doesn't constantly reference or pay homage to Superman '78.
Anybody ever tell you that you resemble Weird Al...as portrayed by Daniel Radcliffe? Lol Just breaking ur balls! Good vid.
Bro, to me Cavil looks more like Superman in interviews than in the movies, sad this role being *look stern* for half the movies
