What do you guys think? Do you have a pick you prefer for Lois, Jimmy, or Lex? Also Nebula is pretty cool: go.nebula.tv/nandovmovies
James Gunn always casts the same actors and family members in every movie, so it'll probably be Michael Rooker as Lex Luthor, Sean Gunn as Clark Kent, and his wife Jennifer Holland as Lois Lane. Yay for nepotism!
@@TheInedibleHulk Yeah, was strange how everything in the DCU is getting reset except for the 1 show his wife is on. LOL
John David Washington as Luthor.
Mason Alexander Park as a non-binary Jimmy Olsen would be my pick!
Hps look 👍💙💙🇪🇸🇷🇺
I think Lois being older than Clark works quite well because you can say they're the same age, but have Clark age less visibly over time.
In the comics she's 4 years older too , when Clark was an intern at the daily planet and she's been a journalist for about 10 years at that point..I fully agree with you
Yeah. In "Smallville", she was naturally a bit older than Clark and I think it works.
We've seen it before with Dean Cain and Teri hatcher, welling and durance, Cavill and adams, and Tyler Hoechlin and Bitsie tulloch. And looks like James Gunn agrees cause Rachel brosnahan is 3 years older than David Corenswet
If there isn’t a “Superman’s Pal: Jimmy Olsen” series on HBO Max, we riot
You know it !!
Perhaps with a small Darkseid cameo late into the series, just like his original first appearance in comics? :D
_Edit: Ah! I should've figured Nando would mention him._ 😅
They better have jimmy transform 1 per episode.
@@projekttaku1 GIVE US TURTLE BOY
46:44 “Lex Luthor is a charming, dangerous, obsessive genius who takes himself incredibly seriously and has a humongous chip on his shoulder because of a man who everyone likes more than him.” I was totally expecting Nando to pick Sam Rockwell as his Luthor after this buildup.
the all-star superman movie summed it up perfectly "If you truly wanted to save the world, you could've done it years ago." Lex's brilliance outmatches superman's abilities but his ego nerfs him from his full potential.
I hadn't considered Leslie Odom Jr as Lex before, but as soon as you mentioned him I audibly gasped and said "yep, that's the guy!"
Leslie Odom Jr as Lex is awesome - his seething barely controlled contempt was the ticking time bomb under Hamilton for me. He can smile like you'd think he loves you but everyone else sees he considers it a debasement for you to be shaking his hand.
That said, I also theoretically love Hamish Linklater (the preacher from Midnight Mass) as Lex (dunno age-wise but still) - the unshakable conviction, the warmth and charm, the intelligence, the obsessive nature, the incredible pages-long monologues where you know what he's saying is awful but you 100% understand why people would agree. He's also pretty tall, get him to put on muscle and you're there, I think.
So raceswapping black men is okay but not black women? What's the agenda against them? Cleopatra Actress is Egyptian.
I still only think of him as being from The Crazy Ones, a show only I remember
@@StudioInkblot I remember it too, and I can only think of Hamish from there too.
Watch Person of Interest season 3. Leslie Odom Jr is commanding and compelling and obsessive. He is perfect for Lex Luthor (sure he gets outsmarted in POI, but it's a great audition).
@@antilog17 And Little Mermaid cast the perfect Ariel. She embodies her spirit and maternal love.
Some Lantern Corps casting would be super fun, so many notable characters with so much variety, could go in all sorts of directions
I’d love to see who’d he cast as Guy Gardner
The Bautista pick was a sleeper but solid
@KingOfFools784 guess you found out huh?
@@KingOfFools784wtf
They should cast Will Smith as John Stewart / Green Lantern.
man that shot of wolfgang and natalia dyer is an absurdly compelling argument for both of them. every time I see it I'm more convinced
I know he's probably too way old for the role but when you mentioned Jimmy probably shouldn't be taller than Clark I immediately imagined Cousin Greg, and if nothing else I would love to see that kind of energy/dynamic
He would be a perfect older Jimmy, if not for the fact that he's a creep
I do like this idea a lot.
@@BonJoviBeatlesLedZep do you mean the actor?
@@EnanoPancracio yes
@@BonJoviBeatlesLedZep what do you mean? I couldn't find anything on his Wikipedia page
Leslie Odom Jr. as Lex Luthor might be the best fancast you’ve ever done. I was watching this with my friend, and we both yelled when we saw who you had picked. Absolute PERFECTION.❤️
Leslie Odom Jr. as Lex gave me goosebumps. I love it!
The guy from BvS was NOT Jimmy Olsen, he STOLE Jimmy Olsen’s credentials.
I think you did yourself a disservice by not looking into Teri Hatcher more. Shes the closest we've come to Margot Kidders energy, while making the role her own. Her, Kidder and Tulloch are the trinity for Lois in live action for me
yeah! she did a great Louis!
Completely agreed. Hatcher was an amazing Lois.
Erica Durance from Smallville is also another great Lois imo. Amy Adams had the potential to be really great as well.
Hatcher was a quintessential Lois Lane, and remains the best and most breakout star from that show. She had the headstrong drive who could get in over her head, but had the charm and sweetness when in love with Clark or Superman.
Yep
personally i think glenn howerton would be perfect in terms of showing the charming side of luthor but also able to perfectly show insecure narcissistic rage for the rare moments when the mask slips.
"It'll probably be none of them" is how most of these fancasting things go.
Maybe its just because I've been reading those comics, but I'd love to see you cast the Teen Titans! Obviously the NTT lineup is the most iconic, but you could also take the opportunity to propose your ideal roster.
You knocked it outta the park with the LOJ as Lex casting 🔥
I don’t think it’s all too bad having Lex be older than Superman. Then it’s like Lex has worked his entire life to get to his peak and then a young Superman comes along and does everything Lex had to do in decades, but just in a few years.
This bloke has the supernatural ability to cast my last choice for every single role in theez videos
I see Nando I click!
*Lord Nando
That was probably the most genius casting for Lex. If it doesn't happen, we should riot.
So are we rioting?
A minor point but for me Lois in BVS gets no brownie points for getting the spear because she’s also the one that threw it in the well in the first place
The Minute you started describing Lex's Characteristics, I knew Leslie Odom Jr would get it.
I definitely don't hate it. I never thought of Leslie Odoms Jr. as Lex Luthor but I love the idea.
I'd love see one for the Brave and Bold.
I have not been able to stop thinking about Leslie Odom Jr as Lex since I watched this video on Nebula.
I think Bautista as Bane would work very well, because I can absolutely see him bringing the under-represented intelligent side to the character. A lot of people tend to forget just how brilliant the character actually is, and I could see Bautista bringing that underlying genius to the big body role.
He's literally been my top pick for that role for SO long, I'm so glad to see someone else shares this opinion. I actually think it's fairly likely given Gunn and Bautista's connection, and I'm sure they would work together to make an amazingly interesting Bane.
He’s one of the only people who has the physicality and voice for the role
@Immersive Comics Absolutely, the voice is probably even more important than the physicality of Bane at this point, but physically Dave is exactly what i'd want for Bane, he doesnt really need to put on any extra muscle, and if they're gonna make his transformations from the venom more dramatic, i imagine it'll be done with CGI, anyways. The Tom Hardy-Bane voice has gone on to influence way too many things, it's best use is in the comedy-Bane on Harley Quinn, especially cause they also tried to emulate the Tom Hardy-Bane on the Gotham show (with their weird proto-Bane character), which has always sounded way more funny than serious to me. It's time for a much more comic accurate Bane, one who can finally match wits with Batman, and Dave is pretty much ideal.
I don't think Bautista would have to do much to come up with a more comic-accurate Bane voice, all he's really gotta do is turn on his intimidating side and it'll be perfect, even if they want him to have a bit of an accent. Dave has a softer voice when he's just talking, but it's still gruff, and I think having a Bane that is somewhat soft-spoken could really highlight the character's intelligent side, and he'll obviously be able to pull off an incredible angry-Bane. He could really give the character some much needed duality between the soft-spoken side and the angry, venom-injected side.
Dave has said numerous times he doesn't want to have to keep bulking up more for rolls, but he's pretty much the perfect baseline for the role, as-is. By the time he's in a suit with the mask and stuff, he'll be super imposing, no extra bulk necessary.
Ahhh, man, the grin I got when you revealed your Luthor cast, that is truly such a genius pick. Honestly probably the peak of your fan cast series, holy cow
I got chills when you explained your Luthor pick, especially how his voice and charisma could actually feel strong enough to stand up to Superman. And now I can't get the idea of Giambrone's Olsen out of my head, he'd be such a great "dweeby, well-intentioned goofball" best friend type.
Also keep up the great fancasts, they're some of my favorites on the channel!
Superman and Lois has the best recent portrayal of Clark and Lois
Honestly, I'd save Lex as a main villain for a future movie. In the first film, I'd like to see some lesser known villains. I'd like Metallo (Sam Worthington) and Parasite (Tony Todd) as the henchmen to a larger force. A classic Superman villain who needs some more love, the Ultra-Humanite, voiced/played in human form by John Malkovich, but if you want the body swap idea, and he possesses the human model, like in the comics, I'd suggest Elizabeth Hurley for that role. Both carry across a great intellect, Malkovich is appropriately pretentious and whiny (I can see him as a mad scientist Superman has beaten many times, before he gains powers.), contrasting him completely with Hurley's confidence, making the whole possession thing a fun twist.
I was quite high during this fan-cast. So I can’t really tell if you really hinted at it but once you said Leslie, my mind came to that exact realization and it was the greatest moment in fan-casting history. This is the only Lex
If Caleb McLaughlin is cast in the new DCU he better be playing Static Shock
I quite like your casting picks especially Leslie Odom Jr as Lex Luthor and Keke Palmer as Lois Lane who I can both see in the roles. In any case, I have faith in James Gunn and given how he really wants to focus on the humanity and kindness of Superman, it just gives me nothing but reassurance and ecstatic excitement for Superman: Legacy.
Here's my fan cast for *Superman: Legacy:*
*Wolfgang Novogratz or David Corenswet as Superman/Clark Kent*
*Emmy Rossum or Camila Mendes as Lois Lane*
*Wyatt Oleff as Jimmy Olsen*
*Bruce Campbell as Perry White*
*David Denman as Steve Lombard*
*Sam Weaving as Cat Grant*
*Lenny James as Ron Troupe*
*Dennis Quaid as Jonathan Kent/Pa Kent*
*Geena Davis as Martha Kent/Ma Kent*
*Micheal Imperioli as Detective Dan Turnip*
*Wallis Day as Detective Maggie Sawyer*
Villians:
*Billy Zane or Toby Stephens as Lex Luthor*
*Sam Worthington as Metallo*
*Tony Todd as Parasite*
*Robert Sheehan as Manchester Black*
*Martin Short as Mr Myxpltz*
*Ralph Fiennes or Matthew Goode as Brainiac*
*Tobey Jones as Toyman*
*Christopher Judge as Darkseid*
Keke Palmer as Lois is a genuinely atrocious casting
Love Martin Short Myxpltz. He's practically doing that already on Schmigadoon but as a leprechaun.
@@NandovMoviesI really liked that fancasting too. Your videos and fancastings are great, Nando. Some videos I think would be interesting to make are: A pitch for the MCU Blade movie, a pitch for the Supergirl movie, a fancasting for The Authority, maybe an analysis of the arrowverse and the Disney Plus MCU shows, a pitch for Shrek 5, a pitch for a Valiant Comics movie, a pitch for the Daredevil: Born Again show, a pitch for a Fantastic Four movie, a pitch for the Wonder Man show, a pitch for the Booster Gold movie, a pitch for the Armor Wars movie or maybe a video about the big potential that would be a TMNT animated movie franchise.
I don't see Keke Palmer as Lois Lane I love in Nope but she plays herself in that movie
Bruce Campbell as Perry White is absolutely inspired, that’d be so fun!!!
Smallville should ALWAYS be the blue print. Jimmy, lex, and lois were absolutely perfect on that show
It's really fascinating how so many stranger things actors fit in this movie
Terri hatcher was in one word EXCELLENT I loved her portrayal of Louis she's my perfect Lois lane
Fun fact I was rewatching the Superman casting and as soon as I finished saw that this was posted and clicked.
In regards to your comment on Lois Lane having purple eyes not being realistic.
Purple eyes are also commonly referred to as “violet eyes,” as they are typically a light shade. For most people, this striking eye color can only be achieved with the help of colored contacts. But the fact is that a small (albeit very small) percentage of people are indeed born with purple eyes.
So though I may be reading a little too much into this, the purple eyes signifying how "special" Lois is and as such, it should not be given short shrift. She is literally one in a million and in a way, her eye color symbolizes why out of ALL of the women on the planet why Superman and Clark Kent is drawn to her. Long story short, it's not nothing.
Elizabeth Taylor famously had purple eyes..... ✌🏾✌🏾
Don't know enough about the other characters but you just blew my mind with the absolutely brilliant idea of Leslie Odom Jr. Would never have thought of that but it's the most brilliant thing of heard
When you were describing Lois as kind of cynical/jaded as well as plucky and type A, I immediately thought of Eva Noblezada from Hadestown. Not sure how her screen acting is, but based on her stage performance, I can see her as a young Lois.
That DCAU line of Lex's sums him up SO PERFECTLY.
I feel like Patrick Fabian (Howard Hamlin in Better Call Saul) would be an amazing Luthor. He has the "contempt for someone who cheated their way to the top" energy paired very well with the charismatic politician/serious business man vibes.
I love the idea of having Dave Bautista, Oscar Isaac, and Michael B. Jordan in these. MBJ would be a great Lex, but you’re right - Leslie Odom, Jr. is better. I’m not sure where to put all of them, but Oscar Isaac might be interesting as Kyle Rainer.
But yeah, Green Lanterns could be fun.
Came here from the Nebula version. Just wanted to say I absolutely want your fan casting of Batman, Jim Gordon (maybe an entire video about casting the GCPD team even), Alfred and maybe even Leslie Tompkins. I don’t actually know enough younger actors for Batman but would absolutely love Cranston as Gordon if they’re having him be around the age of Thomas Wayne would have been if not for his death. Also I want Jeremy Swift of Ted Lasso fame as Alfred because simply if he ever gets to the point of fighting someone it needs to be a massive surprise visually and that’s my main issue with Andy Serkis in the Batman. Also for Leslie I don’t have any preference off the top of my head but Jamie Lee Curtis could nail her role as someone with great amounts of heart and care for both Bruce and Alfred if given the chance as she seems like a loving person based simply on how much she loved seeing Ke Hu Quan get the recognition from his role in EEAAO.
jacob tremblay being old enough to be jimmy olsen is freaking me out
I have it clear:
Luthor - Bradley Cooper
Olsen - Jacob Bertrand (Hawk in Cobra Kai)
Lane - Natalia Dyer
And Supes, OBVIOUSLY, Wolfgang Novogratz
Honestly, Lois and Clark is peak live action Superman. It's cheesy, ridiculous, and perfect (until season 3 jumps the shark.)
So happy to see some love for Alyah Scott!! She and I were on tour together in the Book of Mormon, and she’s such a powerhouse, plus an incredible person
If I lived in a world where three of my fictional crushes (The Pink Ranger, Princess Jasmine, and Lois Lane) were all played by the same actress, I think my brain would explode.
Your Lex Luthor cast may be one of the best fancasts I've ever heard. I can now NOT unhear that.
I want the rest of the Superman Rogues gallery not all of them obviously but some of the big ones. I would do Metallo, Parasite, Brainiac, Livewire, Toyman, and Mr. Mxyzptlk who i think is very likely to be in Superman: Legacy.
I personally think Billy Zane could work as Luthor due to him voicing Ansem, Seeker of Darkness in Kingdom Hearts I, who is both a manipulator and a massive ham at various points (which also gives him that powerful, imposing voice you discussed). That said, I also think it would be really fun to cast Henry Cavil as Lex, since Lex's whole motivation is his envy of Superman, who is always just one step better than him, and so casting someone who already _was_ Superman I think would be a brilliant idea.
Animated Lex was black too , even though he was voiced by a white man ...
I think it would make sense because Lex is beloved by metropolis and there's people who view Superman like him
Henry Cavill as Lex Luthor is an absolutely hilarious casting i 100% stand for
@@thepubknight6144e was modelled off of Telly Savalas, who was white. They just made him tan (actually exact same tan as Superman). My guess is he looked black to people because he was bald, so there was no hair to offset the tan. They lightened his skin for Justice League to clarify it.
I actually really like your pick for Lex. Best casting you've done.
I think Erica Durance should be the blueprint for future Lois castings. She’s smart independent, she is witty, attractive and not afraid to use her looks to get both in and out situations and most of all not the damsel is distress. If she is taken hostage or captured she will try to fight them to escape even if they are more powerful than her and sometimes escapes on her own. Unlike Amy Adams’ lois lane who was the damsel in distress in BvS.
This one right here ☝🏽☝🏽
Fully agree she was spot on
It seems highly likely now that David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan will be cast as Clark and Lois (both great choices), but I would still LOVE to see Tremblay as Jimmy and especially Leslie Odom Jr as Lex. Someone send this to James Gunn!
When you said you can describe Lois in one word, I said "Tenacious." You said plucky and I agreed. Then in your description you said "Tenacious" and agreed with me.
I feel like the flashes are really hard to cast, I would want to see you cast them (and if it’s possible try to do Wally from the perspective of an actor who can start at sidekick age and become the leading man in the future)
You *totally* sold me on Lex Luthor. Perfect casting!
Cryer was imposing in a different way
Titus was great for how much we saw of him
Another dope casting vid! I honestly would love Daisy Ridley Or Keke as Lois personally
Violet Keane looks so much like comic Lois and she played a superhero before....Lois is known to have really big wide eyes and violet does
@@thepubknight6144 fair enough
I think, especially with the identity thing, having Lex parallel Clark by also being a farm boy but one who hates his origins would be awesome.
You've really gotta watch Superman the Animated Series if you haven't already. They absolutely nail all the characters and should be the template for all the live action versions
The rhythm when you say “charming, dangerous, obsessive, genius” sounds very intentional once I knew that you were about to talk about Burr
I love the cast! I think they would all do amazing.
Would love to see his casting ideas for the lantern corps and their villains
I audibly gasped when you revealed Lex Luthor. Ya nailed it, Nando! 😮❤
I love Odom Jr for Lex Luthor, he’s such a presence and despite playing a reserved role like Burr he’s so expressive
Little late to the party but if you're still looking for suggestions on who to fancast next maybe terry macgenis and old man bruce? I know there hasn't been any indication for a batman beyond film but it could still be a lot of fun to see who you pick
Really enjoyed this video looking foward to more dcu castings
The girl who played the main character in Happy Death Day has such an awesome, authentic vibe in that movie. I'd love to see her in the LL list.
As a green lantern fan, there is nothing more exciting than thinking about you doing a GL fancast
I don’t dislike the pick of Odom Jr. but you spoke about how it should feel like Lex could beat up Superman, and Leslie is like 7 inches shorter than Wolfgang. It would be hard to make him that intimidating figure with such a big difference in build.
I'd love to see you fancast the new Batman and Lanterns
Glad you finally got this done so you can finally cast the Green Lanterns
I would absolutely love a Fancasting the green lantern corps video, also I think a Fancasting the rogues video would be great!
The lois from the recent super sons movie is actually surprisingly perfect as far as a blueprint
Tulloch she's awesome
@@thepubknight6144 I think they meant the animated Super Sons movie, in which Lois is voiced by Laura Bailey
These videos make me appreciate movies so much more
John Shay is one of the best Lex Luthors I’ve ever seen. If you watch that show (Lois & Clark) for any reason, let it be for this version of Lex Luthor
Another great casting vid!.. I hope you will cast the Green Lanterns but also as many of the other Lanterns as you can.. It might take a few videos..
1. David Corenswet - Clark Kent/Superman
2. Rachel Brosnahan - Lois Lane
3. Nicholas Hoult - Lex Luthor
4. Wyatt Oleff - Jimmy Olsen
If Michael Rosenbaum was up for playing Lex again I'd cast him tomorrow
I'd be interested to see your JSA castings!
Thanks for explaining Lois, even though you said you didn’t need to. I’m not from Earth so every bit helps.
Thank you nando
I'd love your picks for Batman, Alfred, Gordon, Catwoman & Lucius. Also a couple of his villains: Joker, Riddler, Penguin, Two-Face, Freeze, Ivy, Bane and etc.
Oh Nando I've been waiting on you to return and drop a new video
great picks nando!
"I think the closest analog we have (to Lex) here is Tom Hanks or Barack Obama...super-human charm and relatability...fools everyone" you don't know how real this statement is 😅😬
Incredible as always. But I gasped when you said you were on Um, Actually. Didn't know this 🤯
Well done! The kinda annoying thing about fan casting is that we as fans will never know Gunn’s architecture and forethought going into this DCU until we see the final product. But I’d definitely watch the potentially incredible chemistry of these 4 principals
Love your choices for the characters, especially Lex! I think you should do Batman next or maybe Hal Jordan and John Stewart for the upcoming Green Lantern series.
I can't imagine Naomi Scott in not British mode
She was in Power Rangers
Just here to support
Late season Sterling K. Brown on This is Us makes him the perfect Lex.
Leslie odom jr is genius casting i love that
I remember Leslie Odom Jr. from Person of Interest. He was absolutely stunning on that show, i wanted him on screen all the time during that storyline. Amazing casting.
Do you do the drawings on the white board in the back yourself!? They're amazing!!!
Terri Hatcher was my favourite Lois, but I also never read any Super Man comics.
Just a nitpick (not unlike your podcast) but the new Superman actor is not necessarily in his 20s, just younger than Cavil. I think Gunn even reiterated this on Twitter, saying that all he ever said was that the actor will be younger than in his 40s
I would love to see you cast choices for Booster Gold or the Authority! and as always, what a great video
