He is Marvel's greatest villain for a good reason, so I really hope if Doom was around during the '60s, then will they still adapt the character's epic back-story from the ' Doctor Doom: Book of Doom' comic, or will they do something new that could possibly hinder Doom's potential to become one of the greatest cinematic villains.

@@nancykerrigan Not saying they are. The F4 are some of the most important characters in Marvel so I’d assume that they would stick around for more than just a few movies though. At least a few F4 movies and a handful of Avengers ones. That’s as many as RDJ did and it was 10 years. I just think that they should cast everyone a little younger to counter the fact that they will age in these roles through the story.
Completely agree r.e Wandavision. More than any of the others it had the best fleshed out story and felt like a story they wanted to tell and then created the format around it. A lot of the shows feel like they have a certain number of slots to fill and have chosen the characters and story from there.
One Pedro looks just like Burt Reynolds. People are actually trying to say they made Reed a Chilean, when in reality if Pedro first name was Peter nobody would think he wasn’t just a guy from Texas.
Everything about that picture looks great. Im even happy if its a period piece somehow because FF in the 60s just make sense to me. Im sure they find a way to time travel or pull them into the future or something but it would be fun to see it then. Even that logo/font was cool
The color palette of the artwork looks very 80s and/or 50s-60s. Aqua & pink was big in 50s/60s interior decor & had a resurgence in the 80s (Miami Vice) Curious to see what decade the movie takes place in. One thing I liked about the 1st FF film was that it acknowledged celebrity culture, paparazzi & social media posting. It was the first super hero movie I remember doing that.
I feel like Pedro is gonna channel that gruff dad energy into playing an isolated scientist but he’s mostly gonna lean on charismatic action hero to play the leader of the team and the romantic interest to Sue Storm, so it might be a mashup of the two types of characters we know him best for just remixed to fit Mr. Fantastic
Even though Joseph Quinn & Pedro Pascal wouldn't have been my first picks to play Johnny and Reed, I'm still open to it. Vanessa Kirby and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Sue & Ben are FANTASTIC choices (pun intended). Overall I really like this cast and I think they got a really talented group of actors to play Marvel's First Family and hopefully really do justice to the team that Fox couldnt. I also love the 60's esthetic and the wholesome family vibe from the poster which is everything I've wanted to see from the F4. My only concern is if this movie is indeed set in the 60s, then how does this time period/setting and eventual time jump affect characters like Alicia Masters (Thing's girlfriend) and especially how they will handle Doctor Doom in the MCU since he's been done dirty in live action every time. I also excited to see the fan base discourse between both Marvel and DC films in 2025 which will be very fun to see especially since I'm super excited for both Superman Legacy and Fantastic Four. Could be the next Barbenheimer
the thing w joseph quinn is that while thehre different characters, his Eddie in stranger things has some pretty similar qualities as Johnny, especially in eraly s4. the problem is that thats is when he is bad. he doesnt sell the youthful fun-loving energy the character needed. he sold the outsider sad on the inside great which is the part people got attatched to, but am i the only one who remember just how anmpyed everyone was at Eddie during his first episodes? it was just just a fun-vacuum. he isnt that old but he felt like an elderly man trying to seem cool.
watching Pedro talk about technical science-y stuff might feel weird but his look in the poster has me sold for now. ill be optimistic about it and see how he plays it
This has been my casting line-up (except Pedro) since Disney bought Fox, I was hoping to see Krasinski back full time but I’m excited either way. (I’m British so we’ve had Joseph Quinn pre-stranger things)
The moment I saw this news I was like WHAT is Nando's TAKE!? We need to know! (Commenting to feed the algorithm, I should just watch it on Nebula but I already subscribe there, so here I am doing the LORD'S WORK... but also thanks for these videos)
I think that they cast the ages with intention. I think Reed and Sue will already have been married for like 8 years and the age gap will be addressed and part of the character arc. The Disk Horse on X The Everything App™️ will be utterly insufferable, but it can work as a story point.
I've been saying this for a while. I think it would make perfect sense for the FF to have formed in the 60s, gone through a worm hole in space, and then return decades later having aged very little or even not at all, a la Interstellar logic. Also, if done right, the FF could absolutely carry the current MCU the way the OG Avengers carried the infinity saga
I'm on board but I was really getting excited by the possibility of seeing Matt Smith as Mr. Fantastic, Which I still think would have been awesome! Ah well, maybe in a parallel timeline...😅
I saw this image of the 4 and maybe its the valentines day vibes but my thought of pedro pascal was, "gomez addams" which isnt the first thing i think of when i think of mr fantastic but gomez addams is one of my favorite characters...
Josh Friedman inclusion kind of give me the feel that they might be going for Annihilus as the villain just cause his projects seems to involve other beings and such and feel like could write that character right and would be fun to see as the teams first time foe imo. Maybe it could help tie them into the modern times of the mcu in some shape and form, maybe a timeless group or ones from another world helping the main mcu get ready for what will be secret wars.
"Johnny doing the Mario Lopez on the chair there" thank you for your service, Nando. Only one person is to be recognized for sitting in a chair like that. 😃
Best part of the boots: no high heels! Yay! Seriously, FF has a distinct identity compared to other supes. It has very large scale epic sci-fi adventures, a bit pulpy sometimes, a bit of The Mummy Returns a bit of Flash-Gordon. But it is mixed with a much more grounded family relationship show. Not the Vin Diesel version, an actual family, loving and supporting as often as a bit dysfunctional. If this version can hit that balance, it might be really good. As for Superman, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. It’s been decades since anybody got him close to right on the big screen. Superman is hard to do right.
I think this was somewhat of a suit reveal, all of them are very reminiscent of space suits, with clear inspirations from astronaut gear, both casual and more space suity stuff
I hope it takes place in the 60’s. Cause i always thought that the Origin of the Fantastic Four is rooted in the 60s. Think about it. If you made the F4 origin story in today’s world, the technology and advancements in space exploration would’ve prevented the freak accident that caused their origin. And also given that Incredibles (some consider it as the Best F4 film) also has a very 60s look, it makes perfect sense
What I find weird about Nando's fan casting is he assumed actors can only play the same character they played in a previous work. "Reed Richards is a nerd WJ Harper played a nerd in a TV show, he should play Reed!" If Nando made movies an actor would never play a new type of role in their careers and would be eternally type cast.
I just really hope they get experimental with this one now. The art gave me the vibe of wandavision, which is still my favorite thing from marvel so far.
A pulpy 1960’s Retro-Future Fantastic 4 is a dream come true. Think Disneyland Tomorrowland, The Incredibles, Journey to The Center of the Earth, 2000 Leagues Under the Seas. Like I can easily see these guys in a Defunctland Video
"Pedro probably has to finish filming his scenes in the last of us season 2" Yeah it should take him an hour or so to film all of Joel's scenes for season 2 lol
Dude, we're gonna see him go from getting his head smashed in (for the second time!) with a fucking golf club to being a sexy nerdy stretchy himbo in the span of a couple months
As the Gen X rep here who would've been 5 in 1978, we would've never set our bodies on fire to mimic Johnny. One arm maybe. Lighter fluid and matches were well within our reach back then.
To be fair to cinemasins, the video you're referring to came out before it was announced that Captain America 3 was Civil War, and DEFINITELY before Spider-Man was announced
I dont know how feasible it is, but I’d love the thing to have Ebon’s eyes specifically. He has really striking eyes perfect for the ol’ blue eyed thing
I know announcing the Fantastic Four cast is huge but it’s been rumored for so long that it just doesn't feel like news, which is upsetting. I love the poster and logo. It gives me major '60s vibes. I think and hope this could be a period piece. I love the potential costumes. The mod fashion with the astronaut pants, go-go boots with the very ‘60s “Dick Van Dyke” sweater. And that they went with the X-Men way of doing costumes, each is a little different but they all look like they belong together. I do agree with you that I can't really tell what characterization they're going to give Reed by casting Pascal. All I will say is that I can look at Pascal and can 100% believe he is the “smartest person in the world.” Even if they’re not related, one of the cast members being named “Kirby” just feels right. I can already hear “It’s clobberin’ time, assholes” in the accent Bachrach does for Richie. My only question mark is Quinn but that’s b/c I haven’t seen Stranger Things. When talking about their ages, remember this will likely be a period piece in the 60s where people generally looked older than they did by today's standards. Someone who is thirty in the 60's may actually look 40 today. So there is definitely wiggle room when it comes to making the Fantastic Four's ages closer. Reed and Johnny could be 12 years apart with Sue in the middle and I think it would be believable. I don’t know if they're going to show this in the FF film or if Fiege would even do this but I would love for them to go full-body horror, played straight while the FF are discovering their powers. Imagine Johnny thinks he’s burning to death. Sue’s first time going invisible looks like her body is erasing layer by layer like Toht in _Raiders._ Reed’s stretching is like the stretching in the _American Werewolf in London’s_ transformation. Every movement Ben makes is the horrible clicking and grinding of stone on stone. I just don't know if would it pass a PG-13 rating.
Also, I feel like the reason "everyone I know is dead" wasn't a major angst factor with Captain America was mostly down to the fact that they essentially ignored that plot point. From the POV of the MCU, what they did with having set The First Avenger in WWII was provide an explanation for why Coulson would be a fanboy. There's a little flavouring in The Winter Soldier but if they're going to do a third prequel, I categorically want there to be an actual point to it this time. Wait, maybe it's more like a fifth prequel... depends how you look at Black Widow and Eternals (so much of that was flashback). (Yes, I know, Captain America is tied to WWII by his origin story. That doesn't mean that the time displaced elements had to be ignored.)

They got a Jewish actor to play Ben, so this may get a chance
your casting for Sue was Claire Foy and the role went to Vanessa makes an awesome coincidence! (both played siblings in The Crown)
That rendition of the FF gives me great relief that Shackman has the perfect vision of the team. I this the characters are finally in good hands.
That picture is near perfect for a fun and great film. :-)
Worried about how old Pedro is considering when people sign up for the MCU it’s for 10+ years but besides that I’m excited!
i dont think its a worry cause they can de-age him tbh🤷♀
Honestly, are they still doing these 10 year contracts?
@@ianomondi3152 They can smooth out faces now sure, but body movements especially in action scenes always give away the true age. Idk how they plan to get around that.
Reed Richards is in his early 40s in every comic story and Sue is in her early 30s
Once they’re fully introduced I would love a show called “Wiccan & Hulking” that plays out like a very standard romcom but they’re just in space
Getting daddy Pedro will always be a win.
I love that you brought up Johnny Quest and Buck Rogers for Pedro. I saw the casting and immediately thought a Burt Reynolds type action team leader.
This is a day of rejoicing for Nando fans
Fantastic
I really like the original casting, honestly. Everyone but Alba was perfect (and that's partly because they way oversexualized her)
Michael Chiklis as Ben Grimm was awesome.
@@wolverineminer Yeah, he sold the emotions of being the Thing so well.
As soon as I saw the reveal, I came in here and kept refreshing to see if you had already posted a reaction video. Have a nice weekend Nando!
I am so glad it is (at least initially?) set in the 60's. The FF have such a 60's super science vibe that I am so ready to see
we love to see cousin get this opportunity
Pedro was also fantastic with Nic Cage in Massive Talent so having him in the cast is quite exciting, even if maybe I don’t 100% understand it
Johnny to me looks like hes in like a mechanic's jumpsuit like he's the one that works on maintenance for the fantasticar and stuff like that
The way Nando regurgitates the name "Quas" tickles my soul.
I honestly love the sweaters, they look so cute and comfortable
I also excited to see the fan base discourse between both Marvel and DC films in 2025 which will be very fun to see especially since I'm super excited for both Superman Legacy and Fantastic Four. Could be the next Barbenheimer
I wanted Matt Smith Mr. Fantastic
If the film does take place in the 60s, I imagine they'll be flung into the future so they can get around these folks not fighting Thanos.
Am thinking stuck in negative zone, blah blah
Alt universe 60s
Thank you, THANK YOU FOR SAYING THE ARTIST NAME. I've been searching and hadnt been able to find it
This has just given me such an adrenaline shot of hope for the MCU
To have to much hope there's a possibility they'll mess it up.
the thing w joseph quinn is that while thehre different characters, his Eddie in stranger things has some pretty similar qualities as Johnny, especially in eraly s4. the problem is that thats is when he is bad. he doesnt sell the youthful fun-loving energy the character needed. he sold the outsider sad on the inside great which is the part people got attatched to, but am i the only one who remember just how anmpyed everyone was at Eddie during his first episodes? it was just just a fun-vacuum. he isnt that old but he felt like an elderly man trying to seem cool.
watching Pedro talk about technical science-y stuff might feel weird but his look in the poster has me sold for now. ill be optimistic about it and see how he plays it
They should do more casting announcements with concept art imo
This has been my casting line-up (except Pedro) since Disney bought Fox, I was hoping to see Krasinski back full time but I’m excited either way.
(I’m British so we’ve had Joseph Quinn pre-stranger things)
This really is a Fantastic cast of 4! Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben are finally going to get a Fantastic movie!
Been waiting for you to drop this video
I actually think the movie takes place in the end of 1963-early 1964 because of the magazine, it came out during December of 1963.
6:39 yeah definitely would have been a long shot in 2002
I know this really good 8 year old, he's the perfect Johnny Storm!
I'm on board but I was really getting excited by the possibility of seeing Matt Smith as Mr. Fantastic, Which I still think would have been awesome! Ah well, maybe in a parallel timeline...😅
Give me Matt Smith as The Maker, baybe!
I’m here for it. Really excited for this. I dig the aesthetic, and I hope the final product reflects that.
2:23 How do you not list Oberyn Martell among his iconic roles, that's his breakthrough role, the role everyone knew the actor from in the first place
I'm guessing you didn't watch the whole video since he did mention Oberyn
Uhhh...he indeed mentioned Oberon.
He also glazed over Narcos real hard
now let's just hope the movie's good
I still think the Always Sunny cast would fit perfectly as the Fantastic Four and Dr Doom
I saw this image of the 4 and maybe its the valentines day vibes but my thought of pedro pascal was, "gomez addams" which isnt the first thing i think of when i think of mr fantastic but gomez addams is one of my favorite characters...
Was waiting for this one.
Nando I’ve been refreshing my page so many times since this was announced. I crave this specific video
I’m so excited for July of 2025. I hope both Superman Legacy and The Fantastic Four come out great!
I truly hope so too🤞
"Johnny doing the Mario Lopez on the chair there" thank you for your service, Nando. Only one person is to be recognized for sitting in a chair like that. 😃
I really think they can make this feel like the classic F4. If it is set in the 60s, it's gonna be really interesting what they'll do with it.
i was waiting for your video on this casting!!
The fantastic video we’ve all been waiting four
I am super happy about Ebon
"Reed Richards is a nerd WJ Harper played a nerd in a TV show, he should play Reed!"
If Nando made movies an actor would never play a new type of role in their careers and would be eternally type cast.
What I find weird about Nando fan casting is his inability to read a room with casting William Jackson Harper.
9:13 Joseph Quinn is actually older than both Evans (24) and Jordan (28) when they were Johnny. It's crazy to think about.
"Pedro probably has to finish filming his scenes in the last of us season 2"
Yeah it should take him an hour or so to film all of Joel's scenes for season 2 lol
Dude, we're gonna see him go from getting his head smashed in (for the second time!) with a fucking golf club to being a sexy nerdy stretchy himbo in the span of a couple months
💯🖐🏾❤️☝🏾4 glad you can close the chapter on this casting and move to looking forward to the final product
As the Gen X rep here who would've been 5 in 1978, we would've never set our bodies on fire to mimic Johnny. One arm maybe. Lighter fluid and matches were well within our reach back then.
I'd love it if they shot this using 60s techniques. Much like Alexander Payne used 70s techniques and formats for The Holdovers.
26:40 Anyone know what the title of the video he was talking about?
As a fan of _The Good Place,_ I approve of fancasting people from that show as The FF.
I’m not a big FF fan and have kids but my god I love this artwork and if my kids weren’t my background on my phone/computer this would be.
13:03 That's not the Mad Thinker, That's MODOK.
I’ve seen reports that this movie starts in another universe that’s in the 60s and in the process of the movie they come into the main MCU universe
I love the pic of human Ben as an astronaut right behind The Thing Ben
I love Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards because I feel like he can walk that thin line between family man and war criminal.
A spider-man cameo with Him and Johnny would be great for this movie
Dont forget with Pedro and the Nick Cage Movie. That was Legit.
You have to have someone who can keep someone locked in on Screen and in interviews.
