@@TheAwesomeDarkNinjaI disagree, the problem with Obi Wan Kenobi is completely different.
The show was supposed to be a movie, but when Disney decided to invest on streaming, Bob Iger probably forced Lucasfilm to change their plans and turn it into a series. You can feel this is true because the plot feel spread thin between so many episodes and the Rebel stuff feels shoehorned in to make the story longer.

I feel like it could have worked better if we had seen Fury trying to explain that the skrulls that almost caused a global conflict were a splinter group, and THEN the president is like "I don't care, aliens are bad and evil" would be better. I agree, the writers seem to think they could just pad out 20 min of laborious setup to get any 2 of them into a room together, then let them shout at each other for 10min and then the last 10 min try to build tension for the next episode, and that is all they needed. I got tired of the 'people hiding and on the run yelling at each other in semi-public and not getting noticed' scenes.

Yeah, that was my concern with this series going into it.
This arc in the comics was HUGE, and it shook up the comics world in some major ways. MCU has always been very cautious about letting events from one movie/show ripple out into other movies. Secret Invasion should have been at least as big as Hydra's takeover in Winter Soldier/Agents of Shield.

But more importantly, the characters within the show should also be suspecting other characters. The multiverse saga honestly should’ve been saved for the third big saga, doing secret wars in the second saga doesn’t feel right because secret wars is pretty much as big as you can get and it feels like that would be a great way to complete a trilogy of sagas instead of having it be the conclusion of the second. This saga should’ve been all about the invasion with the hints and interconnections between films and shows involving a possible skrull invasion like how they included and dropped hints at the infinity stones and thanos eventually coming. It would’ve been really interesting because it would not only be awesome to watch all the characters in constant paranoia or suspicion of something bigger going on but it would also be great as a audience member because we could speculate and theorise along with them for a whole saga up until the conclusion when the invasion comes into full effect.

Hot take. Secret Invasion as a story was PERFECT for Disney+!!! But they blew it.
Picture this. A show with 3 seasons running for 3 to 4 years. Parallel with the movies. In the shadows... an ACTUAL secret from movie audiences!
Make small cameos that work in the context of the specific movie, but people who watch the show know it's a Skrull.
Take the "Agents of Shield angle" and show the aftermatch of movies, revealing something there to be Skrull related.
Build Giah up as the Skrull Queen and eventually make her the Super Skrull.
Take the Skrull from a small group of rebels in the pilot all the way to controlling major global governments. Let us see they rise!!
And than you end everything in a movie! A pseudo-avengers movie (just like Civil War) with whatever main character you want, and as that character has no idea what is going on, you have the perfect excuse to catch-up movie audiences as well.
Than if the movie turn out to be well recieved, suddenly you have a influx of people wanting to see the prequel right there in your streaming service.

In a show like this characters can’t trust each other, that’s what creates the drama, reveals, betrayals and traps should have been the foundation in the writing. If I'd been in charge, at some point someone would've been revealed as a secret Skrull, but plot twist they're a good guy! Mix into the montage clips of some Skrull ask for asylum in New Asgard to live in their own skin, radiation clean up crew coming out as being Skrull all along, and some random grandma being interviewed saying she knew her grandson didn't survive cancer and is a Skrull along, but she is just so happy he is continuing her grandson life work or something like that.

Secret Invasion is such a massive storyline that the only way to do it right as a tv series is if the entire overarching franchise is in tv format. With a franchise like the MCU where a significant portion of the projects are movies?
It was never going to work as a tv show. It should've been, at the very least, a dual Avengers film like Infinity War and Endgame; if not the focus of an entire multiple phase long Saga. No one brings up the fact the sky became night one time (moonknight) or the giant thing on eternal. Like maybe there's explainations why no one seems to care about the crazy stuff going on but marvel never gives explanations.
Michael Bays Transformers much as those movies were bad in ways, at least everything big that happened had lasting consequences for example, the big traumatic invasion of chicago in the third movie, despite the autobots winning that battle and saving humanity, so many people died from that, the 4th movie showed how humans fell out of trust of having cybertronians in general good or bad on earth. Like you'd see posters of primes face saying "enemy" or people making money from dead robots from the battle. Again those movies were bad but they somehow had more connectivity than current marvel. You'd think the fact random civilizations and heroes start appearing like the water people from black panther 2, the new iron person, the moonknight, all these things don't take place in isolated areas, like you'd think people would be seeing these things and saying something especially with the internet existing. But no nothing. If i was in that universe, I'd kind of be terrified to go outside.

Rhodey was there for Endgame and was taken after. That was just a bad theory that got a lot of attention. Here are reasons why:
      - Rhody bleeds red in Endgame (Skrulls bleed purple, even disguised as humans)
      - From Civil War-Endgame Rhodey needs the leg brace Tony made so he can walk
      - Gravik and a small team collect DNA from the Battle of Earth (planting the seed of the Super Skrull)
      - Fury goes to S.A.B.E.R, and stays there until Secret Invasion, this causes Gravik to get mad at Fury and forms his plan which involves skrulls taking the identity of key figures
      - FATWS & Secret Invasion Rhodey is seen without the knee brace and walking normally. In Secret Invasion it's shown that the Rhodey who can walk normally is Rava and the one who needs the knee brace is regular Rhodey
      - Therefore Rava has been Rhodey from FATWS & Secret Invasion which chronologically is a little over a year apart so Rhodey was held hostage for a long time
      - What most likely happened is Rhodey went back to the hospital after the Battle of Earth and Tony's funeral to it checked out again and that's where the switch happened

To be fair in the comics the Skrulls were THAT GOOD at disguising themselves. It wasn't until the end of the arc they were able to detect who is a Skrull thanks to Reed Richards. I don't have a huge issue with the series not coming up with a way to detect Skrulls minus seriously wounding them. Also Talos did indicate that the Skrulls that weren't with the emperor are on Earth so its conceivable that the Kree / Skrull was was continuing in the background. The peace talks would make sense and even more sense is Cap Marvel was involved.
My issue with the episode are that the decision made were just...wha?? Not to mention the prcoedural inconsistencies another poster pointed out. I was into the show until the finale. I literally screamed no no no no! when G'iah and Gravik gained the powers of some of the Avengers. Im sorry that was just....duuuuumb. After that great performance between Jackson and Adir they total botched it with that move. U actually gave G'iah the real Harvest which btw when the hell did they create a vial that housed multiple dna samples and they weren't contaminated? I'm not a geneticist but pretty even in Marvel comics u don't do that until u want the samples to go bad. can contain multiple dna samples without the samples being contaminated. And no mention of maybe the samples mixing wouldn't result in something u really dont want to happen. Ok so past that...the plan was for G'iah and Gravik to get the powers and duke it out? Besides the fact you pretty much made them gods...what if G'iah lost? what then? annnd ok she wins. she is just walking around with all those powers? huh? Then Sonya scoops her up and offers her a deal...obviously a reference to M1-13 but this is how u choose to debut it? again wha?? Then u have the fact that the human hostages being held in the skrull camp just go outside and not one of them we see falls victim to radiation poisoning? Where were the rescue team with HASMAT suits?
I have been a supporter of MCU for a while but this ep....I can't defend it. Just...dumb.

Why am I constantly seeing those comments about the DNA? How exactly do you imagine DNA to think it will merge into something new when a few samples are put together? DNA is a thread with coded genetic information. Imagine a normal thread, for sewing. Imagine putting a few of those into one vial. Would they create a new different thread by themselves? Of course not. They will remain the same threads. It might be difficult to separate them, and it would be far more difficult to separate different samples of DNA, but the single DNA threads wouldn't change. The liquid in the vial isn't actually DNA, it's just there to prevent damage to the DNA molecules.
As for contamination, sorry, what? DNA samples can be contaminated, sure, but... I really don't understand what you can possibly mean by that. Contamination occurs when we've got a sample of DNA we want to analyze and some other DNA, a scientist's skin cells for example, gets into our sample. But it doesn't mean that the DNA is damaged. It just means that analyzing such a mixture of DNA, without separating it, can give unreliable results. If the goal isn't identifying who the DNA belongs to, but instead, the goal is to just take all the DNA into your body, then contamination doesn't matter, because even contaminated DNA is fine, it just can't be used to identify its "owner".
What is stupid, on the other hand, is that the Gravik's machine seems to have separated the mixture of DNA and identify to whom which sample belonged. While I can believe the super advanced machine can perfectly separate a mixture containing tens of DNA samples, it's just impossible to identify which hero each sample belongs to; no matter the technological advancement. And that's because the mere genetic information obtained from the DNA tells you nothing. You need a sample from a known source for comparison. And if they had such samples from the heroes, they wouldn't need to gather DNA from the battlefield.

I feel like each episode of Secret Invasion had like one bit that if you took it out of context is actually kind of good and if you just saw those bits you would assume that a show containing all thsoe moments would be really good.
Like, the opening of the first episode actually does a pretty decent job of setting up the idea that is a paranoid story where you don't know who's a good guy and a bad guy. (just a shame neither of the characters in that sequence are part of the rest of the series)
Episode two has the torturing the Skrull scene which does a good job at setting up a sense that even our apparant heroes, Olivia Colman, are shady people, but she's far too underused in the rest of the series for that scene to carry any weight moving forward
Episode three, has everyone is Gravik which as a standalone scene is a really cool way of revealing the extent of the villains power, even if 'Sherlock Holmes Game of Shadows' did it better
Episode four, has Fury and his wife's backstory together explored a bit more, the potential here is great, like why isn't Fury's lack of progress in finding the skrulls a new home ever connected to the fact that he's married to one of the skrulls, why are his feelings about the skrulls never connected back to this information in any meaningful way
Episode five, has the only moment in the series in which someone mistakenly tells a bad skrull something they shouldn't have not knowing their skrull
Episode six, tries to explore Gravik's backstory with Fury but then it isn't actually Fury so none of the potential emotional weight there goes anywhere
and almost all of these moment belong really early so that we can spin out from that and explore the ideas they put forward, but this seems to be where marvel are now, its a bunch of good ideas that just don't get any follow through

One of the unique advantages presented with how and when Captain Marvel introduced us to the Skrulls is that you can have characters who have lived thirty year lives as Skrulls and were never humans that were replaced by Skrulls. Maria Hill could've just always been a Skrull. There never was a human Maria Hill. It's a dimension to her character we never knew before, and we get more into her personal life as a result. It feels like they tried to fit a square peg (sympathetic refugee Skrulls living here for over a quarter century) into a round hole (invasion of the body snatchers), when they could've leaned more into the storytelling potential of the former.

And what's worse is there are other examples of marvel media doing something similar and using it quite well. Dr Doom's origin in the comic involves watching the roma be discrimianted against for years. Then his dad goes to try to help the baron with something despite Doom thinking it's a terrible idea and Doom was proved right and his dad ended up dying. That's a great part of Doom's origin that explains so much of Doom's flaws especially his ability to hold onto grudges because of course if something like that happens you aren't going to be a forgiving person. And that was like 10 pages of the Books of Doom comic and it did so much more than this show did with basically the same idea. You don't have to do what that comic did but do something with it that's interesting.

Things i expected of this show:
    - More of Kreega ( mysterious woman that worked next to Gravik and has been seen in a decent amount of shots) What even happened to the skrull that took her identity.
    - Less of Fury's wife (More of Falsworth, G'iah, Ritson etc.)
    - More backstory on the skrull who took Rhodey's identity
    - More dialogue on how and when Rhodey got replaced
    - More skrulls in their own skin
    - More Talos and even more Maria HIll 🙃
    - Since Rhodey was in this show, maybe his War Machine suit??
    - Fury and Gravik actually meeting again instead of G'iah at the end.
    - a better goodbye with G'iah and her dad
    - For Gravik to have a longer fight with G'iah with more dialogue
    - Maybe a scene where Fury tell Ritson that Talos saved him. There where plenty of soldiers on that field that could've seen Talos breaking that window.
    - They mentioned a cloaking device?? where tf was that..
    - Lowkey wished there were two Fury's in this show one being a skrull and all that being revealed at the end. I mean he said: I'm Nick Fury. Even when i'm out, i'm in, so they could've build it of that..
    - For Talos and Maria HIll to have a good ending.
    - They could've revealed Rhodey being a skrull by killing Talos right infront of Fury. Instead of that shower scene.
    - Asking for a lot here but they've could've shown a younger Gravik collecting all the blood with that team he sent in.
    - A post creditscene where Gravik heals himself with either his Groot or Extremist powers or any other powers that have the ability to heal from a blast like that. Or a scene where Gravik's body gets picked up by people sent by Thunderbolt Ross or Val.
There is probably more..that will come to mind.. but man... those last two episodes really let me down, how invested i was in waiting for these episodes. What a joke.

They don’t IMMEDIATELY take to the air, or even start throwing hard punches. They sorta’ fiddle around a lot, and they’re both trained soldiers, so they know HOW to fight, but not how to fight using SUPERPOWERS. It happened a little TOO fast, but the way the comics depict Super Skrulls is that they can’t access EVERYTHING at once. They have to focus. Again, it could’ve been drawn out longer to better convey that point, but it’s definitely there.

Hard disagree on the President. He's saying the most reasonable things given what he knows. If you found out that there are at least 1 million beings that can take over the lives of anyone on the planet, with the addition of their memories and you find out that they nearly caused a literal World War, you would 100% move on the offensive to the Skrulls. The knowledge that 1 Skrull didn't immediately go for violence doesn't mean anything.
Take it from the point of view of anyone that was kidnapped, those people in this timeline lose x years of their lives. They've aged all that time and experienced none of it. You have no clue if you're going back to your family at all. You don't know if the Skrulls killed your family. You open up a possibility of grape happening to your partner. These people at the very least are advocating for these people to be killed. Now consider these people aren't all Americans but from worldwide governments in high ranking positions, the entire world is against them.
The bare minimum the President should do is kick all the Skrulls from earth. The show explicitly states that they can't make up a new person, they have to use another person's identity and that drastically messes with human life. It's not identical twins or doppelgangers that will definitively have different lives, they have all of a person's memories.
Not to mention, the President is reasonably to Fury, who should be charged beyond belief for not only allowing but exploitating the Skrulls and their abilities.

@@prolastmedia6171 it wasn't supposed to be a legal drama. It was a comedy. That being said, yeah the lawyer stuff was rough at times. Also I'm not saying she hulk is great I'm just saying it's better than secret invasion

Invasion of the Body Snatchers from 78 is absolutely one of the greatest Horror movies of all time...problaby only behind The Thing and Evil Dead. Such a classic. Marvel should have taken some inspiration for Secret Invasion.

This show ended where it should have started, just like Kenobi.
I want a low key show of Obi building a life on Tattoine with Force Ghost Qui-Gon Jinn being sassy as they contemplate morality and philosophy and the galaxy.
I want a Secret Invasion that's a spy thriller, where you can't trust any one you see and it doesn't even really matter what the Skrulls want, their methods are so terrifying that we are blinded by fear from trusting them.
And it seems like in the only one.
