    The funniest thing about the Deadpool movies is that they will introduce a very fun supporting cast and then immediately throw them out for the next movie.

    One thing that really stood out to me:
    Wolverine and Deadpool have ACTUAL masks made of the same material as their outfits. I can’t remember when the last time we saw that in the MCU was, because everyone now has “nanotech” helmets/masks that just materialize on their faces. It was so nice to see them out their masks on.

    The way Vanessa's character is treated really bothers me. Like why did she and Deadpool have to be on the outs again? It's just rehashing what happened in the first movie again. And she doesn't get any focus at all other than being a motivation and storyline crutch. In my ideal Deadpool universe she would've gotten powers in the first movie and actually had some scenes in the second one. If they wanted relation ship issues they should've set it up and not have it occur off screen and in flashbacks...

      I thought their relationship was actually really mature. They weren't bickering or arguing, and they were even kind of jovial in there flirting.
      Vanessa knew wade was going through it and didn't want to put anymore stress on him or her. She let him make his own decisions, and in the end, love prevailed. She even got her own boyfriend, that is a better example of a healthy adult relationship than most things seen on TV today

    I think the main reason why they only did one "other actor as Wolverine" cameo is that it was intended to be a joke/surprise, like "wow the joke is that it's another actor playing Wolverine instead of Hugh Jackman" not like "here's a montage where we are trying to put your fancasts into work". And like many jokes you can't do it too many times, like having a "Radclifferine" joke right after Cavillrine would feel repetitive.

    One thing that bothered me as well was how much the film kept trying to set up Deadpool to be some misfit underdog that failed to make it into the X Men, when half the plot of the first two films is literally Colossus desperately trying to get Wade to join the X Men because he thought he was qualified. It was Deadpool's own choice not to fully join because he felt like his schtick didn't vibe with the school and because he thought that being that brand of superhero was lame.
    So why is the story pretending that wasn't the case? It's just inconsistent characterization to force in a cookie cutter arc of the week for Deadpool.

    • @UbinTimor
      @UbinTimor Месяц назад +34

      @@ebuggs1235 Yea, but if you're trying to push someone to be better for your relationship you don't do that by leaving them and being distant with them. To me, at least, it felt like the movie was trying to imply that Wade felt like he needed to be better for Vanessa, that because he was so hyper fixated on being someone better he ignored their relationship- by that I mean nothing else seemed to matter to Wade besides finding what really made him feel like he mattered and as a result Vanessa felt like she didn't matter to him.
      I don't know, it's very hard to believe that Vanessa would leave Wade the way it seems like the movie wants the viewers to believe, that she left him because of his obsession with finding a meaning in his life so that she could be proud of him. She was EXTREAMLY supportive in the first Deadpool movie (it's one of the reasons why I like the first one more than the other 2), it just feels out of character for her to up and leave instead of buckling down and helping Wade through his issues- Vanessa was more than willing to stick by Wade when he thought he was going to die and was only upset with him because he left her out of fear that he was going to be a burden. It just doesn't feel right that she gives up on their relationship, especially when Wade literally travels back in time and saves her from dying, like I don't know, that feels like a real dick move to just abandon someone after they saved your life. And if they did talk it out it was through exposition- we don't really see them through the whole process to get both sides as to why the relationship wasn't going to work, all we know is Wade is still in love with Vanessa and Vanessa couldn't take being in a relationship with Wade anymore because of obsession with finding a purpose, it's all just kind of hand waved away.

I don't think anyone would question their relationship if their partner was willing to do something like that, I know I wouldn't, so breaking things off just because you feel that same someone is holding themselves back instead of working with them to figure things out seems pretty dickish to me especially if you're just going to get back together with that person later on anyway.
      This is the same woman who forgave him for running away because he didn't want her to watch him die, she thought he was dead that whole time but was willing to start again and she didn't even care that he was all fucked up from the experiments, but she can't work with Wade on his issues when she has been very supportive in the past? like I said before, it doesn't feel like that's Vanessa, that's not something DP 1 Vanessa would do, and because she's had so little development- basically she's been nothing but a plot device for the last 2 movies, it's hard to agree that leaving Wade was a good call especially when it seems like they get back together anyway only to probably break up again or for her to hardly be in the next movie.

    What I recall learning about Snipes’ onset antics on Blade Trinity was that he was really pissed that the studio was ending his franchise and pivoting to a spin off with these two young white actors ( Biel and Reynolds!). That sounds petty af, but also remember Blade was the only successful black superhero led film at the time and he REEEEEEEEALLY worked hard to make that a thing. I think before Blade he had even tried to get Black Panther made. So for his franchise to end and his final movie is written as stealth pilot for yet another superhero group of white lead actors.... insert Michael Jordan “and I took that personally” meme here.
    i’ve just now recalled all that from watching this video. I had forgotten about Blade Trinity (as should most of us), but the lead up to that phonecall to Snipes must’ve been interesting giving Reynolds’ previous experience. I think giving Snipes that line w/ the bazooka was just perfect because he kinda does own that role. He even brought the character back for a quick & HILARIOUS cameo at the end of the 1st season of What We Do In The Shadows. I‘d like to think he was more than willing to play character again on the big screen.

      Indeed. The idea was that they were trying to erase Blade like they did Black Panther (even excluding Tchalla from X-Men 97) despite the success of the film - that was his frustration. This was during an era of cinema where producers would refuse to let the audience know that it was Marvel or DC related material due to the failure of the two industries at the time by hiding the logo 3-5 minutes into the intro credits... action films standing on their own name while subtly hiding the Marvel logo to ensure viewers are not put off.
      In Wesley Snipes' interviews he always made mention that they were "bringing in the new heroes" to replace what he helped make in an effort to downplay his presence with "excessive" comedy.

If you can make something profound work in a comedy film, the film is all the better for it. As long as the tone is balanced well, substance is always appreciated ,at least in my opinion.

    A few things really bothered me. One: wolverine died in the future. If Deadpool breaks out of the TVA to go get wolverine why would he go to the future where he's already dead? Why go to another timeline at all? Why not just go to his timeline and grab present day wolverine? They already set up a team up at the end of Deadpool 2. Two: why did the TVA need Deadpool? They say they need him and then he leaves and they get the timeripper running without him. If they never got Deadpool, they would've been able to just prune the timeline. Three: they kept acting like Deadpool is a loser and the x-men didn't want him but Deadpool 2 ended with the x-men telling him the door is always open at the xavier institute. There's more, but it just blows my mind that a multi-million dollar movie is able to completely botch something as simple as making a story that makes sense.

    My main plot problem was that Paradox's plan made no sense. This was not so much the resolution of a plot as lucky things kind of coming together. Paradox was apparently ordered to recruit Deadpool, but then he deliberately ruins that by telling Deadpool that he won't be able to go home and his friends will be wiped out. No problem, because he prunes Deadpool, but then his plan to use the ripper falls apart because Cassandra shows up.
    Basically, no one had a plan. Paradox was going to use his unlicensed ripper which would have probably gotten him in trouble but maybe not. Cassandra could have just ruled the Void, but she decided with no plan to destroy a bunch of realities. Wade had no plan, just hoping they could somehow convince Cassandra not to kill them and instead send them to the TVA. Wolverine had no plan, he would have just killed Cassandra and been stuck in the Void.
    Fun movie, but it was "just a bunch of stuff that happened".

    • @rmsgrey
      @rmsgrey Месяц назад +12

      A big part of the point of Paradox is that he was an idiot who thought he was a hero. He'd been given this makework assignment - spend a couple of hundred years watching a timeline slowly unravel - presumably to keep him away from anything important - but saw it as an opportunity to prove he knew better than everyone else.
      As for Cassandra, she would have stayed quite happily ruling the Void and ignoring the timelines, but Paradox attempted to have her assassinated, showing that she couldn't afford to ignore the rest of the multiverse. So, in order to secure her domain in the Void, she decided to wipe out the multiverse, leaving only the Void. She had a clear plan, which was explained in the movie, and which failed only because two heroes were willing to sacrifice themselves to prevent it.

So now anchor beings make sense, because of the God of Stories gets bored of your universe, if all the stories in it have been told, why bother to continue it? Further, one could argue that Logan was NOT the anchor being of that world, Deadpool was, and maybe they just assumed otherwise. @@joncheww people keep saying how the helmet and his body are CGI lmao... it's all real except the eyes of course. Loved the film. It's a comedy. The only weakness it has is lack of a proper action set piece and villains in the final battle. The Deadpool Corps was funny, but they should've brought in some more villain cameos, maybe even some MCU villains for more impact. I still enjoyed the gags associated with the sequence though. My favourite bit was the montage and I so hope we get Wolverine v. Hulk and a Logan and Cap interaction before Jackman truly hangs the claws up.

      There is a LOT of Wolverine CG at the end, and the mask is used to make it less creepy.

    One villain cliche at the end: Casandra took her time to go to the machine room and turn It on, like she got lost inside the Subway, or was so kind to wait for them to finish the Deadpool swarm fight and come for her

    I don’t think you’re part of the problem, but I hate the narrative around this movie being “It’s messy, hits it’s fun enough that it doesn’t matter” compared to that of The Marvels being “Just because a movie is fun doesn’t mean it should exist.” 😅

      This! Bro people were talking so much trash on how The Marvels story was so small and simple so it makes it bad, and then I see people saying that D&W story was small and simple but so much fun. People just don't wanna admit that they're against women. Especially cuz The Marvel's didn't have a single moment where it felt like it was against men, it just so happened to be a story revolving around 4 women.🤦‍♂️

    I mean I only saw the movie once but what I took away from the movie IS that Deadpool figured out that he didn't need to be an Avenger or to be in a team to matter. I don't think that was missing...or am I giving the movie too much credit?
    Also the anchor being thing is super dumb and I hope it's not important lore going forward in the MCU. I hope it's just a meta joke that the people stopped caring about the Fox universe and it slowly died off after Logan.

    I had no idea there was a Blade tv show until I watched this video, so when Wesley Snipes said there was only one Blade when I watched the movie, I just thought the joke was that Mahershala Ali was gonna play him but there’s apparently more to it than that

    Had the same reaction to Cavill, too. He was always shot in close, and when he wasn't, he was in side profile, and he was under so much hair makeup
