I don’t wanna sound mean, but segment HiTops Films did about Jason being the only one who cares about poor people is dead wrong. Aside from maybe damian (and even he has exceptions if hood writers are behind him), every single batfamily member is aware of the class disparity in Gotham, ESPECIALLY batman. That’s partially what they’re fighting against. Batman didn’t break into the mayor’s house in year one because he likes the system. This kind of thinking is how we get white Knight, Joker, and other stories that horribly misinform people on the characters. If anything, Jason is the one whose least conscious about the class divide. He’s the one who guns down thugs without a care in the world, thugs who are in the exact same position that his father was in
at least in White Knight, it's revealed that Bruce pays for all the damage Batman causes, it was moreso Joker/Jack trying to gain power via making the public and the police hate Batman
@@brubaker4867 yeah, I agree. Although the artist and writer has some…questionable beliefs from the interviews I’ve seen so I legitimately cannot tell if he truly believes Gotham would be better in a literal police state

Nightwing has been my favorite character for 20 years. I am not a huge fan of him, but I have always thought zac effron was born to play nightwing in terms of looks, personality, and physicality. He might be aging out now, but thought it was worth saying
I’ve been saying the same thing about Evan Rachel Wood as Batwoman forever, another reason that you didn’t mention is that Kate is someone who is very much in control of her emotions and plays them very close to the chest, and when you see Evan in Westworld, you know she can change her emotions on a dime, so she’s perfect for the role.
Here me out, Leo Howard for Nightwing. He's a practicing martial artist who has the charm, is the right age, and if you watch the show Kickin'It, his character Jack is pretty much Nightwing. His brave and a leader, has the charisma and charm to attract the ladies but a humble character who looked out for his friends and even when dealing with the burden of being responsible with saving Wasabi, he still rose to the occasion.
Two things: Kristen Stewart did play high society, she played Diana Spencer, although I think Evan Rachel Wood is inspired casting. Second thing: I object to Lana Condor as Batgirl for one reason: Cassandra Cain. Part of Cassie's character is how isolated she feels, and if Batgirl is Asian as well, it gives her one less reason to be isolated. And unlike other characters, Cassandra HAS to be Asian, so like a column or row in Sudoku, it cancels the possibility for Batgirl to be played by one.

I mean, you SAY her sexuality isn’t a big part of her character BUT, that hasn’t stopped everyone who’s gotten their hands on her recently to make it a big part of her character identity.
Can’t wait for part 2. Here’s an option for Damian Wayne. Don’t know his name but the kid playing aang in avatar the last airbender live action show, might be able to pull it off -Just looked it up, his name is Gordon Cormier
I'm really glad you acknowledged nightwing's romani identity, i know its not an easy thing to cast around but I hate it when people just don't acknowledge it. as a big nightwing fan, i'm pretty much jusy trying to come to terms with the fact that we're never gonna get a perfect casting for him. the options you gave were pretty solid though considering.
I dont think you should have pigeon holed yourself to romani adjacent actors when trying to cast for Nighwing. Especially since the comics didnt even take that part of his history seriously when they addressed it. I think you shoulda just looked within your age range and look parameters.
I truly believe that the only reason that he focused so much on that is so at the end of it he could use the whole "the closest thing to it is" or whatever he said and cast someone who isn't white.
8:14 Besides Bob Hoskins, other (mainstream) Romani actors (or with Romani heritage) are Yul Brynner, Rita Hayworth, Tracey Ullman, Charlie Chaplin and Sir Michael Caine

@@comicalcosmonaut959 Raised from birth to be a living weapon in an extremely abusive situation deprived of normal human interaction and even basic language and reading skills, focusing solely on combat. She killed a man when she was 8 years old and was so horrified by the act she ran from home and lived in the wilderness and streets for the next 10 years. Since joining the batfamily, she's learned to speak and read a little, but has accumulated more trauma -- as she can 'read' the movements the body, she has a visceral understanding of what death means. She's lost friends to the grim reaper and died herself twice now. At the hands of her own mother, Lady Shiva. Then there was the 'brainwashed by Deathstroke and forced to become everything she stood against' for a time (Editorial mandate in an effort to get the Babs batgirl back, it was nasty). So, yeah Jason's abusive life and death are nothing compared to Cass' "My father shot me for disobedience, and I've died more times than you have" life.
I feel like it's worth noting that Felicity Smoak in the arrowverse was a Veryyyyy oracle-esc character. Closer to batgirl than some of the previous versions he mentioned
I know this is super off topic but it should be mentioned the reason their aren't many romani actors but there are a lot of swedish actors (or similarly populated people groups) is likely not because of oppression but rather the occupations and culture they tend to form. swedes are almost entirely located in sweden, that third of scandinavia, and more so most of them are densely populated in cities, cities with lots of social ladders and universities and whatnot. And the Romani are practically the complete opposite (this IS NOT a bad thing, its just how it is) they are spread out over all of europe, often rural nomads/farmers/craftsman. This tends to keep Romani out of those strong social standings, it works for them. But if they want to get into acting its probably a lot harder, especially if they're always on the move, you don't get as strong of an education let alone college/uni. anyway enough ranting lol

I like your Kate Kane and Jason Todd. I can't see your choice as Nightwing, he is my favorite character so I am very picky. And I like the idea of the Batgirl pick but I'm really tired of Hollywood's obsession with replacing redhead characters with black people, in every medium. (it happens way more than you think, and feels like replacing a minority with another minority or a hand-me-down.) I do like Michael B Jordan but as a Luke Fox, Batwing, in a non-Batman movie, maybe centered around a buddy cop Batman Inc story with Nightrunner as the second.
Yeah I wasn’t feeling his Nightwing either. I agree about replacing redheads with black people, however this bothers me less as The Batmans Gordon is black, and that makes the swap with Babs bother me less for some reason (even if the continuities aren’t connected, idk it’s weird).
@@Etticos. I didn't like Gordon in The Batman. Rather than just be Gordon in contrast to Batman, he kept trying to talk all gruff like Batman in his scenes. It was dumb. It's more and more noticeable with each viewing.

The Hi-Top collab I did not see coming but is exactly what we needed here.
The RUclips creator extended universe is just… *chefs kiss
Guys I've always seen Leo Howard as Nightwing he has solid acting and is a martial artist
No Is Dylan o Brien
Well said OP.
@@brubaker4867 yeah, I agree. Although the artist and writer has some…questionable beliefs from the interviews I’ve seen so I legitimately cannot tell if he truly believes Gotham would be better in a literal police state
Aramis Knight is the kind of guy I would really cast as Robin/Nightwing! Just being 4cm shorter but he got the face, the nose, the jaw line, the hair, and the acrobatic skills!
"Does matter eater lad actually have to be played by someone with an extreme eating disorder. I'm going to have to say, while it's not necessarily totally essential, yes you do"
Nightwing has been my favorite character for 20 years.
YES i been saying that ever since i rewatched kickin’ it
Love the Azrael overview on the Nebula video. Such a cool period of Batman.
And unlike other characters, Cassandra HAS to be Asian, so like a column or row in Sudoku, it cancels the possibility for Batgirl to be played by one.
huge fan of your fancasting videos! theyre pretty accurate and i like how you thoroughly study the character and the actor and how list the pros and cons.
not sure if this is in your area of interests but i would definitely love to see a james bond/007 fancast from you!
I mean, you SAY her sexuality isn’t a big part of her character BUT, that hasn’t stopped everyone who’s gotten their hands on her recently to make it a big part of her character identity.
I would love to see Dacre Montgomery as Jason! I think he would fit the role and age range your going for well!
He seems a little to old now.
pls no lol
Nah sorry
no ❤
BABE WAKE UP NEW NANDO CASTING MOVIE JUST DROPPED
49:35 Nando that's exactly my ringtone, you made me think I was getting a call
Can’t wait for part 2. Here’s an option for Damian Wayne. Don’t know his name but the kid playing aang in avatar the last airbender live action show, might be able to pull it off -Just looked it up, his name is Gordon Cormier
I'm really glad you acknowledged nightwing's romani identity, i know its not an easy thing to cast around but I hate it when people just don't acknowledge it. as a big nightwing fan, i'm pretty much jusy trying to come to terms with the fact that we're never gonna get a perfect casting for him. the options you gave were pretty solid though considering.
Not even the comics acknowledged this, it’s not important really for casting, especially because he is just 1/4 of that heritage
I found it weird given that romani do not look like indians at all
BRING BACK NIGHTWING'S SHAGGY HAIR!
It doesn't have to be a mullet, but it should....
@@phoenixlindstrom5873 seems very forced
@@MrFinster53 well you know I really just thought that his extreme fixation on identity in this video felt very off and weird.
me, a mid 30s guy, watching Nando going thru actors younger than me and calling them too old ☠️
8:14 Besides Bob Hoskins, other (mainstream) Romani actors (or with Romani heritage) are Yul Brynner, Rita Hayworth, Tracey Ullman, Charlie Chaplin and Sir Michael Caine
After you do the batfamily could you do a Teen Titans one with Starfire, Cyborg, Raven and Beast Boy?
The Nebula+ companion video could have Aqualad, Garth and Speedy.
Yes to this!
"Jason is tough and endured more than any other member of the bat family "
Cassandra Cain would like to have a word with you nado
I’m sure he’ll get to that.
Or Damien, as they are the only two members of the dead Robin club, both partially due to their own mothers!
Can you gimme a rundown what happened to Cass in her life? Lol
Damien and Cassandra just wanna talk.
Oh 100%, she even has an arc where she becomes disabled
I am absolutely loving this series
I looove your casting videos. Please, keep them coming
i think Leo Howard can do a great Nightwing, he's a martial artist
26 year's old he have the looks, the physique and charisma.
Wow I was so excited for this but I had no idea Alex would show up! Love both of these guys!
An HOUR LONG Nando video!? MAKE MY DAY YOU BEAUTIFUL MAN.
Quick fix: Victorious was on Nickelodeon. Great casting and video!
John Blake seems more like Tim Drake with his investigation stuff and figuring out that Batman is Bruce Wayne
Pretty sure Mar-Vel the original captain marvel deserves to be on that “always dead” list
18:20 calling Victorious a Disney show triggered me more than it should have lol.
Oh right. I forgot to change that. Someone did point it out so you're not alone.
I havent read any comics of him but jason seems to be my fave here, black sheep kids can relate
Not even a Maya Hawke as an honorable mention for Batgirl is insane to me 😭😭
18:34 Aramis is PERFECT for this role, and by the time they release this movie and he appears in the next movie, he will be the perfect age
David Mazouz for Robin is GENIUS casting
Tanner as red hood is perfect
Jason lived like an average Gothamite? Wasn't he some kind of homeless street kid?
Michael B Jordan may have aged out of Nightwing in the normal comics Era, but he's coming up on the perfect age for a Batman Beyond Era Nightwing
Finally, a comic book fancasting video for characters in my wheelhouse
Dang almost an hour long video talking abt my favorite members of the Batfamily? 😳😳 gotta watch!! can’t wait to know who you’d cast as Jason :)
I propose Jeremy Elbertson as Nightwing
Unironically yes
I want people I've never heard of who can become the character instead of just seeing another character in the Nightwing(for example) suit.
Finally decided to get Curiosity Stream for Nebula after a year or more of hearing about exclusive content, but I have no clue how you gain access to Nebula. It keeps insisting I have to pay for Nebula separately and it's driving me up the wall.
Him picking Evan Rachel Wood as Kate Kane was literally my fan cast as Kate Kane. 🤣🤣🤣
@@OpinionParade honestly that's just how Jeffery Wright talks
@@brubaker4867 lol, then he wasn't really acting much, eh?
Gordon could have definitely been cast better.
Ah yes, the systemically oppressed, over policed and incarcerated red head
I would love to see Nando's fancast of Bluebird, Signal, and Batwing.
I’d love to see a Spider-Man sinister 6 fan casting, too. It could be your own lineup, too.
Man, I would love to see Nando come up with his own lineup of the Sinister 6, and why those picks specifically!
I’ve been waiting for this forever!! Thank you Nando!!!! I’d love to see who you’d cast for the Batman villains
Watching this video it feels like you hate batman
For nightwing Wolfgang nozogratz has that nightwing look and is under 30
I love the picks Nando, but Tanner Buchanan seems a bit Grayson-ish for Red Hood. If you want a gruffer, more angry Jason, there’s an English actor called Bobby Schofield who is tailor-made for that sort of role. He’s in an episode of the BBC2 series Inside No. 9 and in about 5-10 minutes of actual screen time he shows all the attributes you mentioned in spades.
