I would like to hear what you think of collars that decurage a dogs barking?
My mother in law has an EXTREMELY nervous dog, she has come far but she still have so many issues and one of them is barking at anything.
MIL has tried these different collars, one that vibrates, blow air, squirt citrus (not on the face) or spray/mist water..
What is your opinion on such tools on dogs?
And do you have videos how how to train especially hard dogs?
The dog is a rescue from Egypt.. She was found as a puppy, and we know she has some kind of trauma, she was beaten by the lady who delivered her to MIL, and she had a brother that MIL and BIL had chosen to get also, the brother would beat her up, eat her food, steal all attention, and bite her if she dared getting pets.. He was put down after other issues and a hip thing that would have been deadly and very painfull anyways.
She LOVES humans, she wanna say hi to everyone, and she pulls the leach a lot!
She is not food motivated at all when out on a walk, nor play motivated.
She will not poop or pee in new areas, and she has a hard time communicating with other dogs. She want to play but as soon as another dog comes close it gets too much and she lashes out..
She is scared of most sudden noices especially loud ones.
And she screams when anyone visits, she barks, and to me it looks like an extreme build up of energy and nerves is making her vibrate until she can jump all over us, give kisses and get hugs.
We try to train her to not jump at people but she has learned that WE know, but others doesn't, so its okay to jump them..
All in all, i have no doubt that training could help a lot, but she is also very hard to work with in my opinion.
She behave so much better when we are watching her in our home because we have rules and consequences, but when she is at home she changes, and while we try to treat her the same its hard when MIL and BIL arent keeping the work up as much :/
MIL does have a severe head injury, so she has not been well for half a year now, wich just makes the behavior issues even worse.
I would be interested to see if you have advice on dogs like this, dogs that are so loving but have so many issues, where do one start? What can one do :)
