    For anyone reading this: I know that dog training can be difficult sometimes, but you're doing great. Keep up the good work, and your dog (and your own sanity) will thank you for it! ❤️💕

    Does anyone know how to do it without prong collar?

      I have a 90 pound 11 month old East European Shepherd.. I use the same techniques but without a prong and a lot of patience. She is doing really good, no need for a prong.

      I just tried it with a choke collar and had pretty good results. May take a little longer but he responded to it.

    I just knew you were in NoVa from those buildings! Nice to know, just got a 2.5 year old husky - breeds literally meant for pulling. Working on training him to walk loose leash and it’s been a challenge

    What age would you say is too young for a prong collar? I have a pup that’s 5 months.

    This is amazing! We've tried 4 different trainers with one of our dogs. She's amazing at all the commands (sit, leave it, touch, etc.), but we can't seem to train her to walk on a loose leash. She's destroyed my shoulders and so, sadly, she just doesn't get walked (she gets exercise, but not walked). I'll try this again, but I really wish you were located in upstate NY!!

    is it more effective to use the prong than the martingale collar? I have the MC but it he was doing the leaning thing you are talking about. Or should I just buy the e collar which is crazy expensive

    • @realethansteinberg
      @realethansteinberg  5 месяцев назад

      Yes, the prong is more effective than the martingale but both have to be used with proper technique to yield results. If you want to get the same prong collar I used in this video I have a link to my amazon storefront in the video description.

    Can you teach lease pressure if the dog is wearing with a harness (not a collar) or do you have to use a collar

    • @realethansteinberg
      @realethansteinberg  5 месяцев назад +1

      You loose all communication with a harness and it encourages your dog to pull

    does it work like this for cars too? I have problem with car.. my dog everytime starting,

    • @Murciiv
      @Murciiv 5 месяцев назад

      Yeah, is the car sedan or suv? Use treats, I like to give them gas for treats maybe even some oil here and there. Make sure they stop when you stop, so good training on brakes

    Munting the audio for the split second where Lucy whines from the discomfort at the first couple U-turns is not a correct representation for your audience.
    For most dogs it is recommended to try the same technique without prong collar or slip lead. These techniques can do wonders, there is no need to use those tools. You just need time, dedication, and a good relationship with you dog.

    I agree the leash pulling is a bad habit, but isn’t one of the main points of walking your dog to allow them to get the mental stimulation from all the sights/sounds/smells? Doesn’t having them next to you and paying attention to you the entire walk take away from that?

    • @realethansteinberg
      @realethansteinberg  5 месяцев назад +4

      Correct, dogs absolutely need mental stimulation. It's important to first build some structure and obedience to enable safe freedom. I begin by working on a loose-leash walk, then a heel, then a release command. Down the road the release command enables your dog to walk with you and sniff wherever as long as they're not pulling on the leash. But it's important to develop a heel first so that we have it for our dogs safety.

    My Lab starts the pulling right from the front door. Should i use the prong collar from the door or wait until I get outside? Also are treats necessary? And how long do I use the prong collar for?Thanks

      Do not use a prong collar, there’s a reason they’re banned in multiple countries

    Charlie is also reactive on leash and wants to attack other larger dogs. Small dogs he’s fine. He’s a golden retriever 🥴

    Hey, at which point do you let them potty? Before training?

    • @realethansteinberg
      @realethansteinberg  5 месяцев назад

      At the begging of the walk works. Later in training I teach a release command which also is a good opportunity for dog to go.
