I like those lower gain sounds. Crunchy, ballsy, but sounds like it cleans up if you pick lightly. That's a classic sound!
Turn all that reverb down please.
One of the best rack preamps I owned was the Rocktron Pro Gap. It had 5 presets from A Holdsworth and 5 from Steve Lukather. Man those Lukather presets were all right and super rockin.
Would prefer your demo to be dry without reverb or any other effects. Also agree a mic'd cab and a direct recording sample would be most helpful since most people cant drop 1k on a two note. Thanks for the review though not much on these units out there!

Not for me, but I see why you are the "Tone King" - you definitely do your homework and know your amps. Maybe I attended too many loud concerts when I was young, but I wouldn't be able to pick out a JCM800 vs JCM900 on a recording. I guess it's just about what sounds good to you. I do learn things from your videos and it's cool to experience gear i will probably never own. Nice axe! I just ordered a Wolf PRS style guitar.
Great preamp demo, now we need a valve rack power amp demo. Perhaps a Mooer Tube Engine 20...?

You keep switching the "+" on and off while having the "Boost" set to off. The "+"-switch does nothing at all with the "Boost" set to off. The "+" is another gain stage which can only be acitvated when the "Boost"-gain-stage is already active.
Wished someone did a fender preamp.... champ, deluxe reverb, twin... not cleans... distortion, like funk 49, southern man, or Clapton/Bloomfield/peter green.

There are 2 outputs - a line and an instrument. Line was clipping my two notes so I used instrument that gave me more headroom.

Yeah, normally I’d love something like this. I love the cleanliness of rack stuff, but 800 is a lot. There’d some good pedals like the ecstasy blue or red that give you two channels of Marshall for half the price.
Meh. For $200 more I can find a used JCM800 out there that is the real deal.
I totally agree! I'm a fan of Rocktron gear, but this preamp isn't all that and for $800, in my opinion is no bargain.

it sounds good ,happy to see rocktron is still alive. ,but i do not like the tone king's guitar playing it gets on my nerves , i have nothing against the tone king. the guy seems nice and a looks like a cool dude , but his playing i can't stand it. he needs to evolve as a player. sorry Tone king you look like a nice guy and i don't want to offend you .

I would ditch that two notes crap and just make up a speaker cabinet. Sounds like you're playing in a barrel
