Great video! Am suprized how good it sounds! I rarely use my old tube amp heads anymore. I use a ROCKTRON Voodu Valve and piranha. Am very excited. Got a Valvesonic on the way!!
I love Rocktron...and this vid probably has some of your best riffage I've heard yet...real 80's feel to them. ROCK ON!
In my opinion it sounds like most rack effects which is overly compressed cleans that run out of headroom so they clip in a nasty way. AND bad nasally overdrive that only works in your bedroom or as a fun toy because of the seemingly unlimited sustain. It actually sounds very small. This is just my opinion. Others may disagree. No negativeity intended. I watch this channel to see all the latest gear and enjoy it very much. Tks for the demo Tone King!

you have to set them up with the right power amp, that is where the headroom comes from not the pre amp.
if you roll of the volume on the guitar while using the High Gain setting, does the amp clean up?

In beginning shot... Is that a Mesa Studio Pre, .22 and .22+? It might be a Quad on bottom I cant tell or .50 cal but that's still some amazing preamps to have, wow just give me one you can pick
what midi pedal do you use with them to switch through presets? midimate I'd assume??

I have a Rocktron Gainiac II , Tubeman Plus, and ART SGX 2000 with the express chip myself.
Thanks for your video tk,compared to the gainiac 2 which would be the best for you.
I only use the Engl e520 from 1990 ! It has 4 tubes 12AX7s. The distortions are brooding and evil with jaw dropping grainy growl and the cleans sound like a Fender twin with glorious chime and sparkle just like a real tube amp. The new Engl e530 is not even in the same class.
What cab and mic are you using. I’m impressed that your tone has improved a lot since I last tuned in. Seems you took the advice so kudos!
There are many cases in which this method (preamp into effects loop return) don't work. For example my Digitech GSP1101 overdrives the return of my Valveking 100 and on the Jet City 100HDM the EQ comes after the effects loop and has no neutral settings, so it spoils any sound plus the effects in the loop (ew, EQ after delay^^). A Marshall JMP-1 preamp works well with the return of a JCM900, but not so well with a DSL100H.
The method is good if you the effects return is a real power-amp-in, unbuffered and ready for hot preamp signals. That is not the case anymore on many amp heads.
I think you said your other Rocktron is 16 bit, so do they just naturally play nice together with 24 and 16 bit? Is that a Rocktron feature or would that just work out with any two devices?

Sounds like a beast. I wonder how the cleans compare to the Rocktron Gainiac 2 (which has KILLER clean sounds).

Great demo as always.....although in my humble opinion, I haven't heard a better pre amp than the amt bulava or the isp theta.....those are on my main hit list

I think Rocktron may have taken their old Gainiac 2, removed the tube from it, and came out with the Widowmaker. It's all good, the Widowmaker sounds good.

Rocktron nailed it already w/the Prophecy 2. The Valvesonic(if it really exists!!) sounded pretty good although it seems to be a one channel pre w/a couple modes?? IDK...this Widowmaker thing is for 15 year olds or something. Just my opinion. I LOVE my Prophecy though, best pre over all out there.
Well, I sent mine back today. Sound is just horrible, very thin and shrill sounding. Also a lot of noise while there's really not that much gain. Buy a Rampage, sounds almost the same and is a lot cheaper...
