Hard Habit To Break by Chicago is a needed reaction
-#cheers-- !-
If shewould have been faithful
Yes!!!
Love that one!
Anything from the 80's that Chicago did, sucks.
“If You Leave Me Now” is an amazing song from Chicago that deserves a reaction
Yes!
YES!! There I said it again. I luv luv this Chicago gem🥰
Great suggestion but it probably wont have all the horns and such that they think every Chicago song should sound like ie; Too slow, different side of Chicago. I can hear it now ☺
No Tell Lover is a truly forgotten hit from them 💯
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Another Chicago gem from the earlier era: "Old Days"--a nostalgic look from a 1975 perspective.
Plus 1 to that. And "Lowdown".
One of my favorites!!
Yes, true....
And don't forgot the opposit: I'm A Man.....
Old Days for sure! I'd also love to hear a reaction to Alive Again...
Exactly! Old Days is my favorite. I have requested it before
Chicago: Wishing you were here. Is a haunting tune.
I love love love Terry Kath’s voice in the original version…God rest his soul!!!
Love that song
It's fantastic. Good call
Wishing you were here also includes the great harmonies of a few of the members of the Beach Boys who accompanied Chicago on this song. Another two are Just You And (I've Been) Searching So Long". Both personal favorites of mind, as well as Beginnings from their first Album Chicago Transit Authority. (The original name of the band before it was shortened to just Chicago).
Chicago had so many hits for 15-20 years, but in my opinion the early stuff was the best. 'Questions number 67 and 68", "Dialogue", "25 or 6 to 4", and "Beginnings" were from the time that the group was new and innovative with its horns and band sound. But I do have a soft spot for "If You Leave Me Now".
“Introduction” off of the CTA album in 1968
ruclips.net/video/CXpoUHZhJes/видео.html
BEGININGS 💥💥💥
Yeah, I agree early Chicago and some of the ballads. All that you guys mentioned and i would add Prologue, August 29, 1968 (2002 Remaster) Liberation from the studio album is a little long.
add to that list - Terry Kath and Chicago "Dialogue Part 1 & 2" 1975 New Year's Rockin' Eve & Terry Kath and Chicago, "Wishing You Were Here", '74 New Year's Rockin' Eve
Pete sang this one. Wouldn't be long before Terry's death - and the entire heart and soul of Chicago changed. Actually, this was near the beginning of their transition to a ballad band. Old School here - made a living on the road playing classic Chicago. Albums 1 - 4. After that, things began to shift to a pop band. BTW - it's "Saturday In the Park".
Same for me !
Absolutely! They became a boring corporate band ruined by David Foster. This song was the sign of boring music to follow.
@@markkenific6587 Yep...
I just saw them in concert last week. After 50+ years they still put on a great show!
Early 70's Chicago is the best Chicago!
Peter Cetera on vocals..How can you go wrong....If you leave me now is another song worth checking out
Jay/Amber, you'll LOVE their "Beginnings" and "Just You n' Me"!!!!
Yes - “Just You and Me” is SO good
Tremendous group that has lasted for years! Other great songs are I Don't Wanna Live Without Your Love, Love Me Tomorrow, Hard Habit To Break, Stay the Night, A long Comes a Woman, If You Leave Me Now, and What Kind of Man I Would Be.
Also, "We Could Stop The Hurtin." While not a single from Chicago 16 or 17, a great song that got a lot of airplay on radio as well.
I'll second 'If You Leave Me Now!'
There's a lot of very good material from Chicago 17, 18, and 19 to go through.
Stay the night
I love the song “Old days”. That is the one that takes me back to my childhood 😻
18 platinum albums and 8 multi-platinum albums! Need I say more? 🔥 🔥 🔥
Chicago never disappoints this one especially is one of their best.
I've been listening to Chicago since 1967....I call their sound, "Big Sound"....It's unique and I've always loved Rock, Blues and Horns!!
Great drums, horns, an up-tempo beat of 124 beats per min. & a little nostalgia....Chicago's "OLD DAYS"
"If you leave me now" is another great Peter cetera led love song. For something more rocking by them, check out their cover of Spencer Davis Group's "I'm A Man" with Peter and Terry Kath swapping vocals back and forth and Terry shredding on the lead guitar!🤘
Peter Cetera's voice is really one of the best...❤️ For the next Chicago song, i suggest Hard Habit To Break, Love Me Tomorrow, I Dont want to Live Without Your Love, Along Comes a Woman, or Stay The Night..😅
Their horns always literally blew me away💕
"Baby, What a Big Surprise" was Chicago's 24th Billboard Hot 100 chart single, peaking @ #4 in 1977.
I know it's not their most well-known song but I really think you'd enjoy their song "Along comes a woman". I know you have a lot of requests to get to. It's my one favorites. Keep up the great work.
2 of their greats, "Feeling Stronger" and "I've Been searching so Long" are just beautiful!! I think they are both off Chicago X11.But any of the songs suggested are all winners! You can't go wrong with their genius talent!
“Searching” is a great song. I’d love to see them react to it.
"poem 58", "listen", "introduction", "dialogue", "south California purples" , and "colour my world" are all great songs worth a listen, among many more
It just doesn't get any better than Introduction for me. An absolute Terry Kath masterpiece and I can't think of a better way to introduce the band to the world.
Definitely "Introduction". That will blow their minds.
When they came out in 1970 they just took over the airwaves, they were a big surprise and how everybody connected to them! The 70s had wonderful music from all genres and it was really very different from the past, better
"Saturday in the Park" and "25 or 6 to 4" are the two songs Amber was referencing. Jay is thinking of Amy Grant as Peter Cetera's "partner" in their song.
This song was released as a single shortly after their guitarist, Terry Kath, died. I always felt that there was a deep irony in the title of the song considering how Kath died, playing Russian Roulette while he was drunk. To me, Kath's death mark the end of the great era for Chicago. Kath lent a rock element and a blues element to the band and after he was gone Peter Cetera and Producer David Foster turn Chicago into a pop band.
Took the words out of my mouth. From a great Jazz/Blues/Rock band to pop. The one thing Kath said was -The face of this group is the entire group-after Kath passed away Cetera took over. Shameful.
BWABS was actually released in 1977 before Terry died. Little One, sung by Terry Kath, debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 just a few weeks after he died. After that, Take Me Back To Chicago was released as the third single from XI. And, even though it was written about another musician who had died (Fred Page from the Illinois Speed Press), the timing of the release was poignant as it served as a tribute to Terry as well.
@@sticks64 I was 12 when Kath died, so while I vividly remember him dying, my recollection of the order of the release of the singles is a bit fuzzy. I just remember thinking how crazy it was that they had a song called Baby What A Big Surprise right around the time of Kath's death.
Terry Kath on guitar was like none other! Wow! Such talent!!
Supposedly, Kath thought the gun wasn’t loaded.
One of the most endearing love songs in my opinion. This song, oddly, reminds me of the cereal "Alpha Bits", as my earliest memory as a child was eating the cereal out of the box when this song was playing. Fond memories of it playing in the car in the morning as my mother drove me to day care.
So the next obvious reaction is their biggest hit "If You Leave Me Now" 👍👍👍"Wishing You Were Here" with the Beach Boys backing is so good!!
You guys love Steve Perry. The legend Peter Cetera of Chicago was also a favorite unique voice of the 80’s when he went solo.
This song is lasagna! So many layers, so filling, and so satisfying! After over 55 years and many lineup changes, they are still releasing new music. Check out "If This Is Goodbye" from their latest album released just last year.
The harmonies by them forever amazes me;;; awesome band, tons of great songs,,, 🇨🇦♨️💯🌠
There were 7 members in the original band. 3 on horns and sax (Lee Loughnane, James Pankow & Walter Parazaider) 1 on keyboards (Robert Lamm) a drummer (Danny Seraphine) 1 guitarist (Terry Kath) and 1 bassist (Peter Cetera).
Lamm, Kath and Cetera were the main lead vocalists.
This song was sadly ironic because it was a hit when the group's guitarist Terry Kath accidentally shot himself to death in January 1978. Big surprise indeed. As a result of Kath's death, this was the last hit for the "old" (and best) version of Chicago.
Terry Kaths Death was a shocker & so sad. You’re correct that the band was really never the same. The Jazz/Rock band they strove for.
I had always heard he was cleaning his pistol while drunk and didn’t know the gun was loaded.
@@keithneale6223 The clip had been removed, but he didn't realize a live round was still in the chamber. He aimed the gun at his head and pulled the trigger to "prove" to a friend it wasn't loaded.
“Just You and Me “ is another great song from the early 70’s.
Ninth grade! The only good year that I had in high school!!! This is, by far, my favorite group!!
My favorite band!!! Saw them 7 or 8 times in concert, most of them back in the 70’s. You have to get to some of their early stuff. They were so much more than 90’s ballads! “Dialogue Part 1 & 2” , “Free” , “ In The Country” , “Southern California Purples”. And of course, “Introduction”. 😁
When I was at Oklahoma Boys State in 1971the jukebox played “Free” over and over.
My big brother was another super fan of Chicago, seeing them in concert at least that often back then. He even had a Chicago tribute band in college for which he wrote all the arrangements.
You guys could Chicago for a month straight and not be disappointed !!
Have loved Chicago since I was in high school. First saw them live in 1974 (I was a senior in high school). My wife and I will be seeing them in San Antonio on September 19. They have so many great songs, you can't be disappointed with whatever they play in their show.
I love watching yous two listen and respond to these old classics; this is the music of my life! I've been tuning in for a little over a month and I'm totally hooked on the Rob Squad now! Love your smiles, your uplifting nature and the blessings you always share ♥♥
This album holds a special place in all of Chicago fans as it was the last that Terry Kath was on before his accidental death. This was the biggest popular hit from Chicago XI but it contains some great tunes especially Little One featuring Terry on lead vocals. Other tunes also featured Jimmy Pankow and Lee Loughnane on vocals. Great reaction as always ❤
The orchestra. The production. There is such a lot that goes into a song by this group.
I generally prefer older Chicago, but this is still a great song. I bet you guys would enjoy this beautiful little gem of theirs called, Wishing You Were Here. Terry Kath takes lead vocals.
Hi J and Amber!! Thank you for reacting to the group Chicago. One of my favorite songs from them is......."Old Days."
Can't wait to see your reaction to that song!!
BTW, Love your reactions, ESPECIALLY songs from the 70s!! Take care and God Bless!!🙏
It's one of my favorite songs from Chicago. Stay the Night is another great song from them.
One of the songs I greatly remember from back in (1970). When I was a sophomore in High school was Chicago's "Colour My World." It's a 3-minute song with a minute of a musical interlude then come the lyrics. " As time goes on, I realize just what you mean to me. And now, now that you're near. Promise your love. That I waited to share and dreams. Of our moments together. Colour My World with Hope of Loving You..." I know Amber in particular would love this song. Becasue she would be thinking of you Rob.
While often forgotten about, "All Roads Lead to You" is a good Chicago song also.
Let me tell you, this group is awesome! I saw them in the 80s and it was the best concert EVER!
Chicago, HUGE part of the 70’s scene.
80's too
Great song! Take a listen to "Feels Like Heaven" by Peter Cetera and Chaka Khan. Amazing duet!
You really put a smile on peoples faces! Best reactors out there. The diversity of bands and songs you cover amaze and surprise me. Loads of love from Sweden.
One of my favorite all time Chicago song next to searching so long. I just love them especially all the old 70’s stuff.
"Will You Still Love Me" released in 1986 is a great Chicago song. I highly recommend it.
One of Chicago's best 👌
So much greatness from Chicago, "25 or 6 To 4", "Old Days", "Saturday In The Park", "Searchin For An Answer", "Dialogue Part 1 & Part 2", "Questions Number 67 and 68", "I'm A Man" and "Hard Habit To Break" for starters and still more. I've always loved this song, one of my favorites, thanks for this reaction!
I love the marching band/ orchestra analysis!!! This musicality is something I miss in modern music which sounds like it is coming out of a Mac computer.
One Of My All Time Favorite Song's,Nice Reaction Guy's
One of the best bridges in all of pop music. Wait for it.
You know what your favorite reaction channel is when you have watched a LOT more of them than all others combined; and even you know the names of their children!!! Thank you!
Chicago did a collaboration with the Beach Boys in I believe 1975. They toured together in the "Beachago" tour. "Wishing You Were Here", and and "Feelin' Stronger Every Day" are songs with the both of them.
Chicago has such a DEEEEP LIBRARY & IT'S ALL WORTH TAKING THE TIME TO LISTEN TO.
Questions 67 and 68 is my personal favorite by Chicago. One of the best rockers ever and still unheard by you fine folks. Cheers.
I'm seeing them in concert again on June 30th. I've seen them several times...it never gets old.
Chicago the classic original version of the band had three lead singers: Terry Kath (guitarist), Peter Cetera (Bassist- he is lead -singing on this one), and Robert Lamm (keyboards). Lee Lougnane, the trumpeter, also sang lead in a few songs. Check out Color My World by them.
That’s so cool you like Peter Cetera! My uncle was a high school friend of his
Soundtrack to my youth living in Chicagoland in the early 70’s. Good memories 🤗 You can almost taste the deep dish pizza and Italian beef ( and gangsters 😬)
One of my later faves is the rocking almost powerpop "Along Comes a Woman"...
For Christmas last year, we did concert tickets. Will be seeing Chicago, Styx, Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top. Also tickets to The Doobie Brothers, Moody Blues, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Pure Prairie League and 38 Special.. Have seen Styx, Skynyrd and 38 numerous times , always great shows. Still adding shows. Thinking of same thing for Christmas this year.
Chicago are and were one of the best out there. Jazz and pop mixed together. Great singing and harmonies. Top musicianship. One of America's greatest bands for sure.
Nice reaction. Of course, the band still tours. It's easy to lose count to actually how many musicians are on stage with all the various instruments when they perform live. All the brass makes for amazing sounds. 25 or 6 to 4 might surprise people when they first read the lyrics.
My words for this are grand, rich and precise. The music and the lyrics are beautifully composed and the performance is masterful.
They have a great melodic sound and vocals, although their first hits 25 or 6 to 4 , and I'm a man were quite rocky. I like this one and If you leave me now and Hard Habit to break are favourites.
And now it's time to say good night good night.........no it's not. It's time for I Can't Quit Her by BS&T with Al Kooper, another great bluesjazzrock band. With horns of course .
After that, back to Ringo. Thanks, Robsquad, for giving us what we want.
@@jacksonmorganfroghin4815 Yes remember them,Blood Sweat and Tears, they were great-thanks.
Yes!!! Can’t beat Chicago!!❤❤❤❤❤
Hard Habit to break is a wow from Chicago
I had gotten my first stereo in 1977 at age 8 and I loved Chicago!
And now this song is stuck in my head, as I’m walking around at work singing it… 🤘
J, your ear is really developing! This is definitely a Beatles type of arrangement.
CHICAGO:
1. Just You And Me (horns , romantic lyrics)
2. The Beginning
3 . Question 67 And 68
Spot on analysis! I played trumpet in HS and was blown away to find out they only had 3 horns (trumpet, sax, trombone)! Crazy talented.
"Along Comes a Woman" and "Hard Habit to Break" are two of my favorites.
Chicago is currently on tour and in August I get to see them! So excited! They are so talented and they put on a great show.
Peter Cetera's two best duets are with Chaka Khan, "Feels Like Heaven," and Amy Grant, "The Next Time I Fall." Doesn't seem like you've reacted to either of them, unless they were blocked. Since you loved Chaka Khan's "Through the Fire," I know you'll love her duet with Peter Cetera.
Yessss 👍🏿
"You're A Hard Habit To Break" & "If You Leave Me Now" are definitely 2 songs i think you would love by Chicago. ❤🎼🎙
One of the the individuals that I truly appreciate was Jason Scheff, when he became the lead singer of Chicago, he brought a different dimension that Terry Kath or even Peter Cetera brought. Please listen to “Will You Still Love Me” because that was Scheff’s Chicago,
Dave Matthews Band:
- Ants Marching
- Too Much
- Rapunzel
- Granny
- So Much To Say
- Tripping Billies
- Don't Drink the Water
Their live versions are exceptional. I would recommend Central Park Concert.
They have so many more great songs than just the ones I named.
Chicago "Wishing You Were Here" (with a little Beach Boy harmony help)
My dad's favorite band. I love them as well.
A really great one to review would be Chicago's "Take Me Back to Chicago." It's a sentimental look by a famous band at a simpler life kid growing up in Chicago. There's a sad sweetness in the song.
The early years before the "Cetera era" are still for me their best music by far. Old Days is one of the early ones with Cetera on lead that is great and doesn't veer off into the sappy love ballad, yacht rock sound of their later years.
I agree
This is the end of the "Chicago music journey." Not the group Chicago but all the groups that lead up to the horns and the sound...Start with the New Colony Six, The Buckinghams, Blood Sweat and Tears and others all led up to this. You should check out the others too!
Just You and Me
My all time favourite Chicago song
Chicago started in 1972. Alot of their songs have orchestra back up. I have their first 4 albums in a box set with posters. They are awsome.
Peter Cetera' voice is unmistakable. Beautiful song
Saturday in the park is a big hit of theirs that will be right up your alley
I have been a huge fan of Chicago since I was young. You just blew my mind when you said that this song has Beatles vibes! Very true!
Wishing You Were Here is another outstanding song, haunting and beautiful. It even features three members of The Beach Boys on backup vocals
So,just saw you guys on Kansas "Dust in the wind', you mentioned loving the orchestra
Glad you found Chicago, this song especially
Enjoy
Chicago has always been up there slow and upbeat songs you guys have been awesome in the last few weeks keep it up Jay and Amber love you guys bless you and your family
'Wishing You Were Here' is a mesmerising ballad from them...
Classic Chicago! Love this song!!!!
Robert Lamm was my favorite singers Beginnings is a great song. Terry Kath “I am a man”
Peter Cetera did a duet with Amy Grant called Next Time I Fall. Another great song he did a duet with was Cher called After All.
