Still haven't seen anyone do "colour my world" from Chicago. Short, heartfelt lyrics, slow. But you still get an iconic horn (flute) solo. It's very early and very different Chicago.
A few other reactors have done "Ballet for a Girl in Buchannon", which includes 7 songs. The 5th song is "Colour My World". The first song is "Make Me Smile" (album version) and the last song is "Now More than Ever". When the "Make Me Smile" single was released, the record company added "Now More Than Ever" to the end. Do a search for the Ballet and you should be able to see other reactions. Amber, I do recommend you do the full "Ballet". You can cross off so many of the requests for "Colour My World", plus hear the way it was meant to be heard, as part of a larger composition.
I agree you need to do "Colour My World" which is one if my all time favorites. It was written by their trombone player James Pankow and their sax player Walter Parazaider is the person playing the flute solo.

As a young kid in junior high, Chicago made me want to play the trumpet. I am 61 and still playing. Long live Chicago and their songs, and people playing instruments and using blood, sweat, and tears to make music vs electronic tricks.
"Old Days" is one of their underrated songs from the mid 70's. "Baby What a Big Surprise" was their latest hit at the time Terry Kath tragically died. Their comeback album had "Alive Again," which is criticized as a disco song, but they manage to make it a good one.
I remember the day Terry passed on,N of Toronto at our cottage,I had came in for lunch,I would sit in front of this big ass radio, all of the sudden the radio station tells the what happen,I just started getting into them.
Actually the disco crossover was "Street Player" from Chicago "13", Alive again was on the "Hot streets" album which was Chicago's 12th album. "No Tell Lover" was a great love song on the "Hot Streets" release.
Jay/Amber, you'll LOVE their "Beginnings" and "Just You n' Me"!!!! edit- on "Stronger" Peter Cetera - lead vocals, bass; Robert Lamm - keyboards, backing vocals, Fender Rhodes electric piano;Terry Kath - guitar, backing vocals; Danny Seraphine - drums; James Pankow - trombone; Lee Loughnane - trumpet; Walter Parazaider - tenor saxophone.
Attend a Leonid and Friends concert. You’ll be transported back to a Chicago concert. Check out 25 or 6 to 4 from them on RUclips. Then look up Earth Wind and Fire’s September by them.
Barry Thome beat me to the punch with Blood Sweat and Tears having a similar sound to Chicago. Many horns. Songs like: Lucretia Macevil, Spinning Wheel, and Go Down Gamblin is a real BANGER!
Since you like Chicago, please do a reaction to the group Blood, Sweat, and Tears. Much like Chicago they have great horns and vocals! Some good choices would be songs, God Bless the Child, Lucretia MacEvil, and Spinning Wheel! Please react to them! You will not be disappointed! 🎺🥁🎷🎶 Be blessed!
Chicago - Ballet For A Girl In Buchannon live Tanglewood 1970 Terry was on fire and horns galore and then Danny on drums !!! You still have not heard the other song that they cut out of it. I went on vacation with my parents to visit relatives in Oklahoma where my mother was born. (Fort Cobb). Met a 3rd cousin. She played the piano . I had brought the sketch scores for several Chicago songs. When I got home, Colour my World was missing. The girls really loved that song. I could only smile and was glad she had it. Ballet is where both Colour My World and Make Me Smile were cut out of to fit AM radio's 3 minute limit.
I knew you would love the ending to this song. Everyone explodes at the end! I saw them live decades ago and they ended with this song and it was fire!
Seven songs into Chicago's mighty discography, and you're doing great. I love that you've sampled the band in both the 70s and 80s, as they truly evolved over that period. However, you've still got so much left to react to! I'd recommend "If You Leave Me Now", "Baby What a Big Surprise", "Love Me Tomorrow", "Stay the Night", "Hard Habit to Break", and "Along Comes a Woman". OR you could do more Peter Cetera, like "The Next Time I Fall" (duet with Amy Grant, a great voice), "One Good Woman", or "Restless Heart".
I really liked Chicago… Oh yeah… the horns were killers! They gave a free concert before going to play at our Civic Center back in the day! They appealed to all audiences!
Colour My World Hard To Say I'm Sorry If You Leave Me Now Hard Habit To Break Some Chicago I believe you haven't reacted to yet. Another fabulous Chicago hit with lots of horns. I don't believe there is a song by them Old or New Chicago that isn't a absolute amazing good rockin time. Keep digging. Lots to go. Loved your reaction. "Keep winding a little more" ☺️☺️😍😍 "Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤️❤️ 🇨🇦 🇨🇦
I've loved Chicago all my life. They were my grandfather's favorite band, and I'll never forget driving around with him on Saturday mornings listening to them on 8-track in his station wagon.
I love Chicago, I was born in 1971 and I could remember my parents having that piece of furniture in the living room that was part cabinet part eight track player and part turntable, I remember me my brother and my sister all begging each other to put on the Chicago album and jumping around the living room with complete joy. This brings back fond memories of my childhood. Another great song by then is searching so long. Enjoy
Old Chicago is the best in their catalog!! Thank you for the reaction. James Pankow, their trombonist co wrote this one & sooooo many more. He’s amazing!!!!
I remember being in 9th grade, driving down the road with my dad, and this song came on the radio. I didn't know Chicago VI had dropped and I yelled "Chicago" at the top of my lungs. My dad thought I'd lost my mind, but a new Chicago album was worth yelling about.
Still waiting for some Blood, Sweat and Tears! "You Make Me So Very Happy", "And When I Die", "Go Down Gamblin'", "Lucretia Macevil", Spinning Wheel" "I Can't Quit Her" or "Smiling Phases"...
To tell you how awesome Chicago is as a band when they were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame they had all the members of both incarnations of the group perform on stage. It was awesome.
This was one of my favorite songs when I was about 8 or 9 years old. I can remember watching Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve, waiting for Chicago to come on and play this song. I barely made it because I was a very active youngster who was exhausted by nighttime and 11:30pm or later was a tough task for me.
Have listened to this band for 50+ years and seen them in concert twice. My teenage years can be chronicled by numerous Chicago songs. Love all their songs but have to admit my favorite is " Call on Me".
Amber and Jay, you need to react to the first Chicago song ,Introduction, from their first album (CTA). This song sets the table for their career. The horns, guitar and lyrics set the stage. Love watching your reactions.
For me Chicago will always be C.T.A,. Having older brothers and sister they had (and I still have) several Chicago albums, even have a Bob Seger when it was 'The Bob Seger System "
You would love their 1st album! It’s amazing! Beginnings, Questions 67 & 68, Does anyone really know what time it is, I’m a man….Terry Kath put this amazing Jazz/Rock group together & you’re listening to Danny Seraphine on drums. Colour my world is another favorite along with Saturday in the Park! Awesome group.
Chicago is an "Elite" Band...Just like Earth Wind & Fire they have stood the test of time for decades, their music is still being enjoyed today and they are still touring & performing in 2022!!! Hey Rob Squad, would you please consider reacting to Chicago's song titled "CALL ON ME" it is from the 70's and it is a total "VIBE" with great percussion and their excellent "HORN SECTION" doing their thing which is something Amber will absolutely "LOVE!!!"
"Feeling Stronger Every Day" and "Searching" always inspire me, no matter what kind of day I'm having. Two of my favorite songs by any artist. Where did great music like this go? I was so blessed to be able to hear this when I was a teenager.
My life's music has been Beatles, Motown, James Taylor, Beatles, Chicago, Beatles. and the rest just a load of bits and pieces. After a hard day at work come home, relax and listen to James Taylor wow! what a voice.
Seeing Chicago in their hay day, A couple times, I can assure you they not only had a drummer,, but an entire percussion section.. Such a great group. Who Dey.
Another great Chicago song that shows off Peter Cetera’s incredible vocal range plus the amazing horns is Questions 67 & 68 from their first album….Chicago Transit Authority
Can't go wrong with Chicago. Their list of accomplishments is amazing. 23 gold, 18 platinum, 8 multi platinum albums. 5 consecutive number one albums on the billboard 200, and 20 top ten singles on the billboard 100. In 1974 they had 7 albums (their entire catalog at the time) on the billboard 200 simultaneously. The original group was inducted into the Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame in 2016. As always enjoyed your reactions.
I once lived in the far west suburbs of Chicago in the early 1970s when the band's drummer played at a place called Rush West. Since then I've attended seven concerts, including twice in the McCormick Place. Meanwhile, I enjoy the several dozen of their records, CDs, and DVDs of their music and video concert shows.
Oh man. I had forgotten about this one. I was in the Job's Daughters when I was a teen (daughters of Master Masons.). Our incoming Honored Queen had this as her theme song. But she shifted the words some to fit her feeling. I was temple musician so I learned to play it on the piano. We didn't do too bad for a rock song. Chicago was one of the handful of bands that really rocked my world in high school. Others were Fleetwood Mac, Boston, Heart, and the Jacksons.
This is one of their best for sure.. Another one is "Wishing You Were Here", a big dreamy kind of hit for them, and for a nostalgic loaded rocker.. "Old Days".. thanks.
Glad you're back to Chicago, but you keep dancing around their best song, "Beginnings"! Got to get to that one! Probably has the best horn arrangement of any song in the Rock & Roll era!
Tower Of Power is another great 70's band with a killer horn section. You're Still A Young Man shows off their talent. Also, So Very Hard To Go, has a great trumpet solo.
All the band playin' strong!..electric piano, drums, vocals, guitars, horns..Chicago hit big continuously on the radio pretty much all through the 70s and into the 80s. Some of many more.."Beginnings" "Call On Me" "Colour My World" "Free" "Wishing You Were Here" "I'm a Man" "Just You 'n Me" "Stay the Night" "Questions 67 & 68" "No Tell Lover" "Searchin' So Long" "Baby, What a Big Surprise!" "Another Rainy Day In New York City" "Old Days" "If You Leave Me Now"
Amber, you just made my night; you too Jay with the "high hat" reference & the comments on the drums! I've played drums since 7th grade, back in 1977 & to this day, that remains one if my favorite songs to play. Another Chicago hit that you two will probably LOVE: "OLD DAYS"!!! Not only is the song up tempo, full of drums, hi-hat, a syncopated bass drum line, horns featuring a really good crescendo effect & a climactic ending, but the theme of the song is reflection on childhood. I hope you guys see this one, I think you'll both enjoy it
This was a great jazzy along with some light blues song and one of this band's best. If you want to hear a band with horns from the same era that also has a jazzy sound but does the blues better than about anyone Blood Sweat and Tears version of God Bless the Child is a great place to start.
Awesome song writers. I really like how they bring everyday life into there music and the way they incorporate the horns to each song is just an added bonus.
You two are becoming quite the musical commentators. Amber I'm impressed with your growing confidence in front of the camera. Rob you should be proud. Both of you are becoming a dynamic duo. You break down in Chicago and the other bands spot on. Great music comes out of that City. And I do mean bands we can hear the horns. Trombone saxophone & my favorite I played in high school, the trumpet. Had not listened to Chicago in decades it seems. A tear. Heartfelt thank you. And also thanks for Sachmo, the god of trumpets you reacted to earlier. Just last night I saw the one he was with Bing Crosby. You made me a very happy old man the past 24 hours. Nostalgia was beating strong. Thank you sincerely Scorpius 🦂🤘🎸 Rock on.
When I saw Chicago in Manchester (UK) at the Fee Trade Hall in early 1977, they'd just had the Number 1 'If you leave me now', both in the US and UK. The concert was brilliant they finished the show with this song.
You hit on the key elements of this song the thundering drums played by Danny Seraphim and the horns by James Pankow, ,Lee Lougham, and Walt Parazador (sp?). Noticed that the tempo picked up after the first chorus? The drums kept playing fills like a marching band hoofing down the street, the horns blowing a bugle charge, the background vocals repeating “Feeling Stronger Every Day!” It’s no wonder high school pep bands loved playing this song.
Jay: "Can you imagine a concert by them?" Well I just saw them in concert just recently, along with Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys. They've got several new members, but Robert Lamm, James Pankow, and Lee Loughnane are still with the band. I also just 11 days earlier saw my other favorite jazz-rock band, Steely Dan.
When Feelin’ Stronger Every Day was new, a friend of mine had audio equipment to make custom 8-tracks. I had all Chicago’s albums and made several different mix tapes. One of them literally had this song as every other track! Even now when it plays on Sirius XM in the car I crank it up. Probably get some looks…a senior citizen groovin’ to his favorite tune.
“Introduction” is my favorite track. It’s the first song, on their first record… Personally, I think it can be counted among the best ‘track 1’ songs of any bands debut albums of all time… There are very, very few songs, that are first tracks, on debut albums, which do a better job of telling a listener exactly what the band is all about.
"Old Days" is one of my favorite Chicago songs. I saw them twice and I was amazed by their performances.
I'm 63 years old and every time I hear this song it makes me want to just jump up and down and celebrate! I feel so lucky to have grown up in that era.
I’m 69 and lived the 60’s,70’s and 80’s.
All turned to shit after that, but the memories of those 3 greatest decades I am eternally grateful for.

"Feeling Stronger Every Day" and "Searching" always inspire me, no matter what kind of day I'm having. Two of my favorite songs by any artist. Where did great music like this go? I was so blessed to be able to hear this when I was a teenager.
I love the message of this song. We love each other, but it's time to let go, and we'll be alright.
“The best thing to happen to you…was the worst thing to happen to me”…hits HARD!
My life's music has been Beatles, Motown, James Taylor, Beatles, Chicago, Beatles. and the rest just a load
of bits and pieces. After a hard day at work come home, relax and listen to James Taylor wow! what a voice.
They have so many hits! Chicago is my ALL time favorite band! The band, blood sweat and tears has GREAT horns too! Listen to some of their hits!!!
The most positive break up song of all time. Chicago was amazing!!
Yes.
Great observation.
Doesnt matter who's doing the lead singing, this one was the fantastic Peter Cetera. Awsome sound as always.
You love Chicago? Excellent. Highly recommend the song Dialogue 1&2. It's just one song. Great horns, great lyrics, great music.
I have had the pleasure of seeing Chicago in the 60s, 70’s, 80’s and in 2021 and 2020.
"Saturday in the park" is another Classic Chicago sound that gives off Summer vibes. It was another of a long list of hit songs for the band
You need to do Chicago's "Color My World" it was the prom song in the 1970's
I ❤ Chicago!
You need to check out “Beginnings”, off Chicago’s first album. There is a remastered version from 2002.
YES!!! Great song!
Also there's a Chicago tribute band called leonid and friends y'all should check them out, they do annual tours
I second that!
Seen them twice, just blew me away!!!!
One of their greatest tunes. What a band 3 lead singers all members total musicians
Totally agree about Blood Sweat and Tears. Hard to believe you haven't listened to more of them. "God Bless the Child"!
Drums, horns, the vocals, the melody, they were perfection, awesome energy! ❤️✌️
Love Chicago ! such a clean sound ! the kind that you wanna crank the volume !
Have always loved how he plays 8th notes (8th beats) on his bass drum on the outro. One of the best driving songs ever.
Tower Of Power is another great 70's band with a killer horn section. You're Still A Young Man shows off their talent. Also, So Very Hard To Go, has a great trumpet solo.
We can just imagine how much you two dance together.
Can tell Amber loves the whole ‘70s vibe. I bet you would have loved growing up in that era! ❤
All the band playin' strong!..electric piano, drums, vocals, guitars, horns..Chicago hit big continuously on the radio pretty much all through the 70s and into the 80s. Some of many more.."Beginnings" "Call On Me" "Colour My World" "Free" "Wishing You Were Here" "I'm a Man" "Just You 'n Me" "Stay the Night" "Questions 67 & 68" "No Tell Lover" "Searchin' So Long" "Baby, What a Big Surprise!" "Another Rainy Day In New York City" "Old Days" "If You Leave Me Now"
You nailed it!
My ALL TIME favorite 'Chicago' song.
One of my all-time favorite Chicago songs. Such a great kick in the pants.
I hope you guys see this one, I think you'll both enjoy it
Searchin' So Long is so beautiful.....you really need to listen to this. LOVE it.
This was a great jazzy along with some light blues song and one of this band's best. If you want to hear a band with horns from the same era that also has a jazzy sound but does the blues better than about anyone Blood Sweat and Tears version of God Bless the Child is a great place to start.
I thank you for reintroducing to the great music of my youth, My love from NJ
Check out Go Down Gambler and Lucretia McEvil from Blood, Sweat and Tears, and Tower of Power's What is Hip. Super horns.
What a bangin tune.
When this dropped in ‘72/‘73? I rushed out and got the album, the cover art is also fantastic.
Awesome song writers. I really like how they bring everyday life into there music and the way they incorporate the horns to each song is just an added bonus.
It's great to see you guys enjoying this song so much. It is one of my favorites!
Another great band you must react to is Lighthouse and tunes: One Fine Morning, Pretty Lady and Sunny Days. Guarantee you will enjoy.
Check out Leonid & Friends. They do amazing Chicago covers, and have also dipped into Steely Dan.
You nailed it
This one, Just You And Me, Colour My World, If You Leave Me Now, and Wishing You Were Here are some of my top favorite Chicago tunes.
